WILLIAM MOBERLY

William “Bill” Garnett Moberly, 81, Cornishville Street, formerly of Clearwater, FL, husband of Ruth Frances Merideth Moberly, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his home.

Born Oct. 5, 1923 in Versailles, he was the son of the late William Ramsey and Helen Elizabeth Howard Moberly.

He was a World War II army veteran, he was a retired Caldesi Construction Company em-ployee, and he attended Kirkwood Baptist Church in Salvisa.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Rick (Sharon) Moberly of Harrodsburg and Jeff (Donna) Moberly of Sadieville; two sisters, Louise Woods of Harrodsburg and Mary Ann Yates of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Sue Laughlin and Annabelle McClintock, and one son, Ron Gardner.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 12 at Johnson’s Funeral Home in Georgetown with Bro. Jerel Coffey officiating. Inurnment was in the Georgetown Cemetery.

KATHLEEN PATRICK

Kathleen Spurlin Patrick, 93, McDowell Place of Danville, formerly of Burgin, widow of Fred Patrick, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 1, 1911 in Madison County, she was a daughter of the late George Rufus and Katie Riley Spurlin.

She was retired after 47 years as a registered nurse at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, she was a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church of Preachersville in Lincoln County, and a former member and Sunday School teacher for 38 years at Harrodsburg Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Venice, FL and of Calvary Hill Baptist Church of Stanford.

Survivors include: one brother, Thomas J. Spurlin of Richmond; one sister, Elizabeth Spurlin Cole of Atlanta, GA; one nephew, James A. (Doris) Spurlin of Preachersville, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gobel, James R. and Evans Spurlin, and four sisters, Viola West, Ruby Downard, Stella Azbill and Ann McKenna.

The funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 26 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial was in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Burgin.

Pallbearers were Jim, Barry, Jeff and Dr. Mark Spurlin, Hadden Dean, Dr. Robert Grise and Mike and Harold Kurtz.

Honorary pallbearers were retired nurses, Care and Touch nurses, friends of Harodsburg Baptist Church, friends of Drakes Creek Baptist Church and of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Drakes Creek Baptist Church building fund, 3725 Preachersville Rd., Stanford, KY 40484 or to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church Foundation, 312 S. Main St., Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

MAXX PHILHOWER

Maxx J. Philhower, infant son of Glenlee Philhower and Carla Ryan of Danville, died Thursday March 10, 2005 at the University Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born Jan. 26, 2005 in Danville.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one brother, Branden Philhower, and one sister, Leea Philhower, both of Danville; maternal grandfather, Ricky Ryan of Harrodsburg; maternal step-grandmother, Karen Ryan of Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Donna Brett and Jim Brett, both of Arkansas; maternal great-grandmother, Glenna Deatherage, also of Harrodsburg; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ryan of Harrodsburg; paternal grandfather, Glen Philhower, of Harrodsburg; paternal great-grandfather, Marvin Cannada of Harrodsburg; two aunts, and two uncles.

The funeral was held Sunday, March 13 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

JAMES SATTERLY

James Louis “J. L.” Satterly, 80, of Lawrenceburg Road, widower of Elizabeth Azille Yeager Satterly, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at Heritage Hall Health Care Center in Lawrenceburg after an illness.

Born Oct. 19, 1924 in Washington County, he was the son of the late James Virgil and Matha Darnell Satterly.

He was a WWII army veteran, he was a former member of the American Legion Post #34, he was a member, deacon, trustee and usher for many years at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and also attended Glensboro Baptist Church, he was a retired maintenance worker from Rand McNally in Versailles, and he was a farmer.

Survivors include: two daughters, Cynthia (Bobby) Stopher of Lawrenceburg and Sue (Eugene) McHolan of Harrodsburg; one son, Bitsy (Melissa) Satterly of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Rayma Sutherland of Lawrenceburg, Ama Robinson of Frankfort and Jean (J.R.) Robinson of Willisburg; caregiver, Millie Moore of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Glenn Corn officiating. Burial with military rites was at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 61, Lawrenceburg, KY. 40342.

DONNA VANARSDALL

Donna Marie Bagley VanArsdall, 89, widow of Riker VanArsdall, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the Pimlico Manor Nursing Home in Lexington.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

F. PAT ADAMS

F. Pat Adams, 68, Harrodsburg and formerly of Hopkinsville and Cadiz, widow of Lynn Adams, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

Born Nov. 26, 1936 in Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Daugherty.

She had been a bookkeeper at Jennie Stuart Medical Center and Hammon Moving and Storage and was a teacher’s aide for the Audubon Area Head Start program in Hopkinsville and Cadiz.

She was a member of the Newcomers Club in Cadiz and the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts and often made crafts for nursing home residents and the senior citizens.

Survivors include, one son, Robert E. Adams of Cadiz; two daughters, Patti A. (Tom) Hicks of Louisville and Cathy A. (Larry D.) Camic of Harrodsburg; one sister, Jean Y. Leimbach of St. Louis, MO, and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Y. Bonnie Fears, and two brothers-in-law, Ed Leimbach and Sparky Fears.

A private funeral was held March 12 at Fuller Cemetery in Christian County. Lamb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Shut-In Ministry at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 286, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

JOEY BAKER
Joey Baker, 49, Harrodsburg, died Monday, March 21, 2005 at his residence.

Born Oct. 7, 1955 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Bobby Eugene Baker and Alice Juanita Pittman Baker of Harrodsburg.

He was a self-employed construction worker and loved to fish, hunt and draw.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one son, Joey Lee Baker Jr., and one daughter, Shannon (Joseph) DeShon, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Jeffrey A. Baker of Fort Supply, OK and Robbie Eugene Baker of Burgin; two sisters, Debbie Fairchild, and his twin sister, Janice Louise (Henry) Sims, both of Harrodsburg, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Derek Baker officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Griffin, David Cheak, Jimmy Rainey, Larry Syler, Karry Sekco, Bill Byrd, Hunter Baker and Joseph DeShon.

Honorary pallbearer will be Bob White.

Visitation Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

JOHN DENNIS
John Allen Dennis, 71, Plum Street, Lawrenceburg, husband of Linda Wells Dennis, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after an extended illness.

Born Jan, 5, 1934 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Silas Edgar and Anna Bell Robinson Dennis.

He was a 1952 graduate of Anderson County High School and served with the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict. He was a member of Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church for 57 years, was a chemist for Olin Mathison Schenley Distillers, and was retired from the Department of Transportation Materials Division.

In addition to his wife, survivors include; one daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Dennis of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Andrew (Emily) Dennis of Frankfort; two sisters, Mildred Dennis Ballard of Harrodsburg, and Wilma (John) Ripy; one uncle, Ralph Dennis Sr., and two aunts, Nell Brown and Ethel Puckett, all of Lawrenceburg; two nieces, and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Dudley and Rebecca Dennis; two brothers-in-law, Sam Ballard and James Wells, and a mother and father-in-law, Henry and Thelma Wells.

The funeral was held Tuesday, March 22 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jerome Browne and Bro. Paul Barrick officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

FAYE JAMES

Faye Thomas James, 85, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.

Born in Burgin, she was a daughter of the late James and Nannie Landers.

She was a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry (Margaret) Landers, Lexington; one grandson, Brian Landers, Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Amanda (Chris) McConnell, Lexington; one great-grandson, Christopher McConnell, Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 21, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street, Lexington, by Pastor Ronnie Hupp. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Cemetery in Burgin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

JOHN LEWIS

John Paul Lewis, 37, of Cane Run Camp Road, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Lexington.

Born Dec. 28, 1967 in Lexington, he was a son of Don W. and Leia Ragland Lewis of Harrodsburg.

He was a painter and musician.

Other survivors include a brother, Stephen Lewis of Lancaster; and a sister, Whitney Steiner of Lexington.

Services will be private.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ALINE MATHERLY
Aline Isham Matherly, 76, Deep Creek Road, Washington County, wife of LaRue Matherly, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

Born Jan. 11, 1929 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Leora Gibson Isham.

She was a former employee of the Cricketeer Company of Harrodsburg and was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Billy Rue (Rita) Matherly of Perryville; one sister, Louise Rogers, and three brothers, Raymond, Bob and C. H. Isham, all of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James Isham.

The funeral was held Saturday, March 19 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Rev. Ronnie Click officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.

Pallbearers were Joe Warren, Barney Russell, Woody, Rick and Donnie Staton and Rickie Click.

Honorary pallbearers were Patsy Treadway, Janice Coulter, Darlene Bowen, Jackie Reed, Vivian Click, Donald Carpenter and Anna Jane Corbett.
