Rubel O. Gribbins, 85, of Rogers Court, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the Danville Centre For Health & Rehabilitation.
Born May 5, 1919 in Taylor County, he was the son of the late George Edger and Lucy Bright Tunget Gribbins.
He was a retired construction worker having worked with R. R. Dawson Bridge Company. He enjoyed hunting, playing horseshoes, country music, gardening and UK Sports.
Survivors include: one daughter Rita Willard Hoback, Stanford; one brother, Daniel Gribbins, Glasgow; one sister, Lulu Purnell, Zola Springs, FL; a cousin, Viola Baugh, Harrodsburg, and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Rubel Omer Gribbins, Jr. and Troy Gribbins, one brother, Arvin Gribbins, and three wives, Peggy Gribbins, Wilma Carey, and Judy Votaw.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, April 29, in Spring Hill Cemetery with Bro. James Harley officiating.
No visitation was held.

MARGARET MCCOY
Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" McCoy, 78, 317 Elmwood Dr., Harrodsburg, widow of Jerry McCoy, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 20, 1926 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Andie Floyd and Nannie (Johnson) Taylor.
She was a retired nurse and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a member of the Quilters. She was also a member of the Rook Club and an avid rose gardener.
Survivors include: one son, Jerry (Cleisa) McCoy, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Don Chase and Cleo Goodlett. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Leo, Dennis Sallee, Tim McCoy, Mike McCoy, William Taylor and Larry Taylor. Honorary bearers were Eddie Sanford, Howard Fallis, William Currens, Doug Taylor and the elders of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

JANICE PEAVLER
Janice Henry Peavler, 80, of Louisville, formerly of Mercer County, died Friday, April 29, 2005 in Louisville.
Born December 14, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James and Omie Burton Henry. She was the widower of Condit B. Peavler.
She was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include: one son, James E. Peavler; one sister, Ada Crouch, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bill Peavler, and four sisters, Viola Devine, Beulah Carey, Gladys Wilham and Joyce Sanford.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 2, at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Louisville Memorial Gardens.
ESTOL PIKE
Estol Pike, 71, of Nicholasville, formerly of Stanford and Boyle County, died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born July 7, 1933, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Clever and Nettie Mae Davis Pike.
He was a former linotype operator for the Lexington Herald-Leader for 23 years and a self-employed carpenter. He was a Baptist and served in the army during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Helen Godbey Pike; a daughter, Connie Bohon Rogers, Nicholasville; two sons, Eddie Pike, Nicholasville and Gary Pike, Irvine; one stepdaughter, Mae Hafley, Perryville; one stepson, Gary Hafley, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Marie Pike, Parksville, Jean Pike, Lebanon, and Margaret Ann White, Danville; four brothers, Harold Pike of Dickson, TN, Leroy Pike, Parksville, Harold Pike, Perryville, and Jessie Pike, Danville; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held. Tuesday, May 3, at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by Rev. Dan Barnes. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Locker, Kenny Tyre, Don Wilson, David Buckley, Jack Howard and Ellis Kendall. Honorary pallbearers were Travis, Kenneth, Neal and Russell Godbey.
MICHAEL PRESTON
Michael Hart Preston, 41, of Middlebrook Drive, Danville, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born October 17, 1963 in Madison County, he was the son of Harry H. and Charlotte A. Greene Preston of Danville.
He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and an army veteran. He was a 1982 graduate of Danville High School, where he was active in sports and has since been involved with his children’s sports.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his wife, Patti Sharpe Preston; one daughter, Molly Hart Preston, Danville; one son, Jacob Todd Preston, Danville; one brother, Barry S. Preston, Harriman, TN; and one sister, Michelle Preston Buehner, Tampa, FL.
The funeral service was held Saturday, April 30, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Linh Nguyen officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

AMANDA WARREN
Amanda Warren, 90, of Shelbyville, formerly of Danville, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 in Shelbyville.
Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Brown and Matilda Brown Bowling. She was the widow of Theodore B. Warren Sr.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Theodore B. Warren Jr., Richmond, VA, William R. Warren, Waterford, CT., and Charles T. Warren, Bowling Green; one daughter, Ruth Rawlinson, Goodsprings, NV; one sister, Ruth Walcott, Kathleen, GA; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, (today) May 5, at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville by the Rev. Jesse Baxter.

ALMA BOTTOMS
Alma Bottoms, 92, of Harrodsburg, widow of Albert Casey Bottoms, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 21, 1912 in Tatum Springs, Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Eva Winnie Shewmaker Ryan Sr.
She was a seamstress at Cricketeer Manufacturing. Company and Cowden Manufacturing.
She was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member, and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She also was a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda (Stan) Riney, Harrodsburg; two sons, Glen Allen (Barbara) Bottoms, Frankfort, and Donald 'Raine' (Betty) Bottoms, Columbus, OH; four sisters, Evelyn Walker, Malta, IL, Devola Doll, Rockford, IL, Ilene Sanders, Maple Park, IL, and Barbara Haile, DeKalb, IL; two brothers, Dee Ryan of Batavia, IL, Karl Ryan of DeKalb, IL; a daughter-in-law, Ella Rose Bottoms, Georgetown; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert Bruce Bottoms, and four sisters, Naomi, Martha, Darlene and Patricia Ryan, and three brothers, William, Glen Jr. and Johnny Ryan.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 11, at the Deep Creek Baptist Church by Everett Priddy and Bobby Logue. Burial was in Peter Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers were John Brodie, Jeff Hamblen, Steve Bottoms, Vince Sams, Eric Norman, Donnie Bottoms, John Hall, Allen Harlow, Tim Sheehan and Troy Howard. LUCILLE BRUNER
Lucille Bruner, 93, of 408 Marimon Avenue, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born January 24, 1912 in Anchorage, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lena Kelly Craig and the widow of Howard Bruner.
She was a retired seamstress from Cricketeer Manufacturing Company and a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Juanita Robinson, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Tommy Robinson, Lynn (Mike) McGinnis, Doug (Geneca) Robinson, and Lisa (Mike) Baxter; seven great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren,.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John David Lane. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tommy Robinson, Doug Robinson, Scott McGinnis, Chris McGinnis, Stanley Jenkins and Joe McClellan. Honorary bearers were great-great grandchildren.

CHARLES LONG
Charles G. Long, 71, of Rolling Hills, Danville, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1934, in Danville, he was the son of the late Grover and Alma Wayne Long.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Franklin Masonic Lodge 28, Oleika Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star.
He had been a welder and pipe fitter with Union Local 452 and raced hydroplane speed boats.
Survivors include: his wife, Ethel McCowan Long; one daughter, Patty Majors of Harrodsburg; one son, Greg Long of Corbin; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, by Rev. Tim Mathis. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Van Majors, Chris Smith, and Greg, Mark, Randy and Steve Long.

LISA PHILLIPS
Lisa Carol Phillips, 38, of Rushville, IN, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at her residence.
Born June 4, 1966, in Rushville, IN, she was the daughter of Dorothy Robertson Phillips of Nicholasville and the late James W. Phillips.
She was a hairstylist at Great Clips in Shelbyville, IN.
Survivors include: her mother, Dorothy Phillips, Nicholasville; a stepmother, Donna Phillips, TN; a grandmother, Nellie Phillippe, Kings Mountain; two sons, Kenneth S. Phillips and Jeremy Phillips, both of Nicholasville; one daughter, Shaila Phillips, Rushville, IN; one sister, Annette Becknell, Nicholasville; and three half sisters, Denise Horn and Missy Carpenter, both of Harrodsburg, and Regina Monn, Tyler, TX.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 6, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
CARTER VANARSDALL
Carter VanArsdall, M.D., 87, of 141 Dedman St, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 19, 1917 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Condit Brewer and Sarah Elizabeth (Carter) VanArsdall Sr. and was the husband of Marcille (Cille) Bailey VanArsdall, Harrodsburg.
Dr. VanArsdall attended Kentucky Wesleyan College in Winchester for three years and received his B.S. degree from the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from Duke University and completed his residency training at City Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, where he met his wife.
He was a captain in the US Army and served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Dr. VanArsdall joined the medical practice of his father and brother in Harrodsburg in 1947 and retired from there in 1975. He then served on the VA Hospital staff until 1984, having served a brief period as medical director.
He was past president of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, a member of the Mercer County Medical Association, a consulting physician to the Mercer County Board of Health, and was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: two daughters, Jeanne VanArsdall of Lexington, and Ann (Wick) Asbury, Lawrenceburg; one son, Tom (Marilee) VanArsdall, Stamping Ground; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 11, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, by David Ross and Jimmy Owens. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Nick Dedman, Chuck Dedman, L. D. Knight, Don Cole, Harold Davis, and Bill VanArsdall. Honorary bearers were members of the Mercer County Medical Association.

HOWARD WHITEHEAD
Howard Erwin Whitehead, 87, of 650 Beaumont Ave, widower of Jewell Marie Tyler Whitehead, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at his residence.
Born November 29, 1917 in Walland, TN, he was the son of the late John Huston and Sarah Jane Burns Whitehead.
He was an army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church and the Mercer County Senior Citizens. He taught school starting in 1941 at Rose Hill and retired from the Mercer County School System in 1976. He also retired from the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital where he was a purchasing agent from 1976-1990.
Survivors include: two daughters, Peggy (Larry) Short, Harrodsburg, and Kay (David) Simpson, Henderson; one sister, Ethel Mae Ratledge, Walland, TN; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 9, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Albert Gisler. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
