Lucille Byrd Lewis, 74, of Springfield, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005 at the Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born April 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Daisy Chesser Byrd and the widow of Vernon Lewis.
She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and a former nursing assistant at Medco Center in Springfield.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda (Ronnie) Hume of Harrodsburg; one son, Terry (Mavalyn) Lewis of Harrodsburg; five sisters, Necy Beavers of Springfield, Audrey Chesser and Beulah (Carl) Hellard, both of Lawrenceburg, Betty (Prentice) Crowe of Louisville and Faye (James) Hardin of Mackville; four brothers, Roy D. (Juanita) Byrd and Gerald (Margaret) Byrd, both of Chaplin, Harold (Linda) Byrd of Lawrenceburg and Gene (Dorothy) Byrd of Louisville; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Byrd.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Chesser, pastor of the Rockbridge Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jammie Bottom, Billy Joe Allen, Dustin Mobley, Ricky Lewis, James Sagracy and Herman Sagracy.
MELVIN REED
Melvin Floyd Reed, 81, of Stanford, formerly of Junction City, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Coley and Eppie Lowe Reed.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Alum Springs First Church of God.
He is survived by one sister, Birdie Ross, Harrodsburg.
Services will be at held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland, by the Rev. Garry Allen. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
ALMA REYNOLDS
Alma S. Reynolds, 94, of Salvisa, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 5, 1911 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Elva Burns Sanford and the widow of Arthur Delbert Reynolds Jr.
She operated Reynolds Nursery for many years and was a member of the Bohon Church of Christ. In recent years she attended Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Harold L. (Faye) Reynolds of Salvisa; one step-son, Walter Delbert Reynolds of Salvisa; one sister, Naomi Hatchett of Marietta, GA; one daughter-in-law, Lona Ann Reynolds; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur W. Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 9 at 1 P.M. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Brian Burkhead and Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steven Baxter, Larry Baxter, Jason Chagan, Arthur Reynolds, Wess Reynolds and Paul Wayne Peavler. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday school class.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 8 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

PATRICIA VOORHIES
Patricia Ann Morris Voorhies, 50, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, December 5, 2005 at her residence.
Born Jan. 1, 1955, she was the daughter of William T. and Mary Lou Sweasy Morris of Lawrenceburg.
She was a 1973 graduate of Anderson County High School, a member of Ninevah Christian Church, and a retired secretary for the Kentucky Environmental Protection Cabinet.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband of 33 years, Maurice Douglas "Doug" Voorhies; a son, William Douglas Voorhies of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Donna Marie Boggess and her husband, Davis, of Lawrenceburg, Debra Jean Wooldridge and her husband, Darrell, of Frankfort, and Linda Sue Brewer and her husband, Davey, of Scott County; a brother, Michael Morris and his wife, Mary, of Lawrenceburg; and her mother-in-law, Margie Coffman Voorhies of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Cooper officiating.
Friends may call today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Voorhies will be cremated following services.
IMELDA CHAPIN
Imelda Forsythe Chapin, 82, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Feb. 26, 1923 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Alexander and Carolyn Baker Forsythe and the widow of Stanley Chapin.
She was a retired retail clerk and a member of the Church of The Good Shepherd. She attended the University of Kentucky, adored classical music, was a sports enthusiast and was a descendant of Robert McAfee, one of the original settlers of Kentucky with James Harrod.
Survivors include: one daughter, Leslie Chapin (Richard) Camara of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Barbara Forsythe Zambri of Monroe, NJ; two grandchildren, Laura Camara of San Francisco, CA and Mark Camara of Dublin, CA.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Chapin and two brothers, Sidney and Donald Forsythe.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the funeral at 1 p.m. today at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

LORAINE COOKSEY
Loraine Cooksey, 92, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Willisburg, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born May 1, 1913, he was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Luther and Annie Moore Cooksey. He was the husband of Ada Weldon Cooksey.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Willisburg Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Jimmy (Alma) Cooksey of Willisburg; three grandchildren, Charlotte Allen, Melissa Pierce and James Cooksey Jr., a step-granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Isham Cooksey; one sister, Mae Bird Hale; four brothers, Pascal, Birchell, Melwood and Russell Cooksey, and a step-son, Donald Weldon.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Burnice Richardson, minister of the Willisburg Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by Bro. Matthew Atha, minister of the Magnolia Street Christian Church. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Charles Isham, Gorman, David and Leo Campbell, Tommy Coulter and Mike Pierce.
RUSSIE KENDRICK
Russie B. VanDyke Taylor Kendrick, 88, West Office Street, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born March 15, 1917 in Talmage, Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Amanda Jones VanDyke and the widow of William Kendrick.
She was a former employee at Shaker Village, a self-employed housekeeper and a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrodsburg where she was a choir member, a member of the Missionary Society and the Improvement Club. She was also a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: two sons, Walter Taylor of Harrodsburg and Tim Hamilton Taylor Jr. of Panama City, FL; three daughters, Maitha Meaux and Elizabeth (William) Harris both of Harrodsburg and Clarene Taylor of Hopkinsville; one brother, Johnny VanDyke of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harvey Jackson Taylor; one daughter, Adeline Taylor; two brothers, Jerry and Thomas Demaree, and six sisters, Tera Singleton, Lillie Mae VanDyke, Virgie Hoskins, Sally Demaree, Emma Gracie Demaree and Laura Faulkner.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the First Baptist Church in Harrodsburg with Bro. Virgil Hill officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bentley and Timmy Jones, Joshua Thompson, Randall Bartleson, Chris Short, Truman Bartleson Jr. and James Thurman.
MARIE MORROW
Marie Lusby Morrow, 85, of Owenton, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at her residence.
Born Aug. 25, 1920 in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late William David and Hallie Wilhoite Lusby and the widow of A. T. Morrow.
Marie was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church from the age of 19. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Bible school, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and served on numerous church committees. She also volunteered at the Owen County Memorial Hospital and the Owenton Manor.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Carter of Harrodsburg and Bili (Ralph) Shelburne of Houston, TX; two sisters, Doris Day Bourne and Retta Hollins, both of Owenton; one grandson, Rob (Laurie) Trumbo of Simpsonville; one great-grandson, one step-great-granddaughter, three nieces and two nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Acton D., Her-schel B. and William D. Lusby.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the McDonald and New Funeral Home on Main Street in Owenton, with Bros. Ross Layne, John Lucas and Larry Adkins officiating. Burial was in Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clint Swigert, Garrett Hammonds, Mike Snider, Charlie Riddle, David Boling and Larry Ayres. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel J. Bourne, Herschel B. Bourne, David Daugherty, Rob Trumbo and Ralph Shelburne.

BRENDA PARMAN
Brenda McHargue Parman, 61, widow of James Wayne Parman, died Thursday December 8, 2005 at her residence in Lexington.
Born in Harlan County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Finley and Charity Elizabeth Carter McHargue.
She was a hairdresser for forty-two years, a long-time member of Southland Christian Church and a graduate of Kaufman Beauty School.
Survivors include: two daughters, Allison Parman (Scott) Gunter, and Kimberly Parman [Shannon] Delk, both of Lexington; one son, William Bradley Parman, Louisville; two sisters, Betty Jo Green, Harrodsburg, and Norma J. Taylor, Muncie, IN; and two grandchildren, Kendall Nicole Delk and Carter Jacob Delk, both of Lexington.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Stanley McHargue, and two sisters, Joyce Lee McHargue and Doris J. McHargue.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 12, at the W. R. Milward Mortuary, Southland, conducted by Rev. Monte Wilkinson.
Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday.

EULA PRESTON
Eula Horn Preston, 88, of Louisville, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Bashford East Health Care Center in Louisville.
Born July 4, 1917, in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Britton and Ethel Horn.
She was a retired employee of Stewart's Department Store, a member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church and the widow of Leo Preston.
Survivors include: two sons, Barry Preston, Louisville and David Preston, Noblesville, IN; one sister, Vivian Stigall, Cincinnati; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville, by Rev. Dale Denton.
No visitation is planned.

LOIS SHEWMAKER
Lois K. "Red" Shewmaker, 78, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005 at his residence.
He was a native of Mackville, a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Bardstown, a member of Carpenters Union AFL-CIO Local 4483270, a former employee of R.R. Dawson Construction of Bloomfield and Weir Construction Co. in Louisville and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Beulah Frances Shewmaker and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruby Tatum Shewmaker; two daughters, Sue Watts and Pamela Satterly; and one son, Danny Shewmaker, all of Bardstown; two brothers, Donald Shewmaker of Bardstown and Tommie Shewmaker of Springfield; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Stuart officiating.
Burial was in Peter Cemetery in Mackville, with military honors at the graveside.
THOMAS STEIGERWALD
Thomas Edward Steigerwald, 77, Lexington, husband of Mary Hale Steigerwald, died Saturday December 3, 2005 after a long illness.
He was a retired Regional Manager with Kentucky Central Life Insurance Co.
Other survivors include: three sons, Patrick James Steigerwald, Harrodsburg, Thomas Carl Steigerwald, Portland, OR, Jerald Steigerwald, San Francisco, CA; one step-daughter; Marilyn Sue (David) Gullett, Prestonsburg; three sisters, Rita Blaney, IN, Nonie Hollam, Bosnia, Theresa (Corky) Toth, FL; two brothers, Jimmy (Betty) Steigerwald, OR, Clarence (Grace) Steigerwald, OH, several grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Steigerwald, and stepson, Johnny Hale.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10.

Velma Jenkins Young, 82, of Greenbriar Drive, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg.
Born Nov. 1, 1923, she was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late Reco and Lillie Rae Warner Burns.
She was a 1942 graduate of Mackville High School, a retired clerk of the Randall Burns General Store in Cardwell and a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Gayla Jenkins of Cardwell; two sons, Gary (Judy) Jenkins of Louisville and Donald "Red" (Judy) Jenkins of Lawrenceburg; one step-son, Sandy Adams; two step-daughters, Connie Alexander and Joan Thro; one sister, Nona Schildknecht of Louisville; three brothers, Randall (Juanita) Burns of Cardwell, Mitchell (Dotty) Burns and Verlin (Jean) Burns, both of Mackville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. B. Jenkins, Sanford A. Adams Jr. and Bill Young.

WILLIAM ALCORN
William "Bubba" Alcorn, 78, of Lexington, died Friday, December 16, 2005.
A native of Burgin, he was the son of the late Morton and Mary Alcorn.
He was a member of Greater Liberty Baptist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include: four children; William Morton (Valerie) Alcorn Jr., Jane (Tony) Higgins, William Cayson and Norman Alcorn; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; two sisters, Anna A. Jackson and, Evelyn Ashley; and his former wife, Juanita Boulder.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, at the Greater Liberty Baptist Church.
Visitation will be after 12 p.m. Tuesday until time of services.

Helen Sallee Barnett, 74, of Talmage-Mayo Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sept. 30, 1931 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Beulah Moore Sallee and the widow of Earl R. Barnett Jr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Lynn Barnett of Mercer County; one sister, Artie Sheperson of Harrods-burg; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Jordan Young, Braden Young and Kristin Roution.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Currens, and three brothers, Joe David, William and James Sallee.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church with Bros. David Culp and Jack Geurin officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ROBERT BELL
Robert Stephen Bell, 55, of Versailles, formerly of Mercer County, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Oct. 10, 1950 in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Aaron and Helen Louise Smigielski Bell and the husband of Donna Brown Bell of Burgin.
He was a concrete construction businessman all of his life.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Alisha Bell of Stamping Ground; one sister, Virginia (Dick) Harris of Columbus, OH; two step-sons, Clay and Casie Westerfield; two nieces, and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Joshua Bell; one brother, Michael Quincy Bell, and one nephew, Richard “Bubba” Harris.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Connie Carter officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 3:30 p.m.

RODNEY CLICK
Rodney Evans Click, 36, of Salvisa, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Born May 11, 1969 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Ronnie Wayne Click and Eudell Evans Click and the husband of Virginia “Ginny” Lee Akers Click.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. He coached Minor League baseball, Little League football and King Middle School football. He was also a Mercer County High School band parent and was an active supporter of the marching band.
In addition to his parents and his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Krystle Nicole Click and Whitney Lauren Click, both of Harrodsburg, and Tara Lee of Mt. Washington; one son, Robert Wayne Click; one sister, Rhonda Dale Click of Lawrenceburg; paternal grandmother, Vivian Roney Click of Harrodsburg; one nephew and one niece.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Randy W. Click, his paternal grandfather, W. J. Click, and his maternal grandparents, James and Margaret Evans.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Salvisa Baptist Church with Jason Clark, John Mark Johnson and Dr. Thomas Doyle officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Cornish, Jerry Mattingly, Jeff Rogers, Chris Curtsinger, Rony Click, John Chilton and Cecil Buchannon.
