Lee Ora Tyler, 83, 459 Sycamore Ct., widow of Jessie Tyler, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at her residence.

Born Oct. 21, 1921 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Brack and Zannar Pearl McGinnis Collier.

She was a homemaker, and she was a Jehovah Witness and enjoyed reading her Bible.

Survivors include: two sisters, Elizabeth Scott of Michigan and Lillian Tyler of Burgin, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Ison and Violet Steele, and one brother, Belve Collier.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with T. Henry Johnson officiating.

Pallbearers were Dennis, Chuck and Johnny Tyler.

Arrangements were handled by Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

BERTHA WHITEHOUSE

Bertha Mae Whitehouse, 103, widow of Bradley Whitehouse, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the Stanford House Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 25, 1902 in Louisville, she was a daughter of the late George and Sarah Monroe Phillips.

She was a homemaker, she was a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and cooking until the age of 98.

Survivors include: two grandsons, Harold (Betty) Darland and Marshall (Brenda) Darland, both of Harrodsburg; seven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mabel K. Darland and Elizabeth Whitehouse; four brothers, Cue Phillips, Felix Phillips, Sidney Phillips and William Phillips; four sisters, Amelia Clodfelder, Matt Lane, Susie Elizabeth Roller and Mary Devon, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Robert Logue officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Allan Dean, Lee, Todd, Kelly and Ralph Darland and Dr. George Noe.

MABLE BOTTOM

Mable Frances Bottom, 97, McDowell Place, Danville, widow of Leo Bottom, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at her residence.

Born Jan. 17, 1908 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late James Logan and Martha Ellen Minor Kirkland.

She received her undergraduate degree from EKU and graduate degrees from UK and VPI in Blacksburg, VA. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Mission Society. She was a member of the Jane McAfee Chapter of the DAR, she was a member Kentucky and Mercer Retired Teachers Association, and she was a member of the Lexington Road Homemakers. She was a lifelong educator, having taught in four Kentucky counties. She also served as the Washington County home economics extension agent for several years.

Survivors include: two nephews, Robert Kirkland of Lexington and William Kirkland of Frankfort; four nieces, Clarice Hogan of Bradfordsville, Rowena Overstreet of Greenfield, and Barbara Kingsley and Ann Emery, both of Hartford, SC, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted Monday, Aug. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Anthony Evans, Shawn England, David Hogan, Thomas and John Kirkland and Jimmy Evans.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg United Methodist Church or to The Methodist Children's Home.

MATTIE BRUSSELL

Mattie Florence Brussell, 75, Minster, OH, and formerly of Lebanon and Perryville, wife of Jimmy Brussell, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at her residence after a long illness.

Born March 2, 1930 in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ester Arnold.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: three sons, Sonny Brussell, Teddy Joe Brussell and David Brussell, all of Ohio; two brothers, Lewis Arnold of Steelville, MO and Jerry Arnold of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Betty Joe Derringer of Georgetown, Barbara Lyons of Danville, Claire Waldridge of Lawrenceburg and Carolyn Arnold of Harrodsburg; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Arnold of Louisville, and one sister, Margaret Pearl Arnold of Ohio.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Calvary's Chapel Church in Minster.

Arrangements were handled by Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.

LUCILLE DEAN

Lucille Coulter Dean, 81, Harrodsburg, widow of J. B Dean, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

WILLIAM FISTER

William Desha Fister, 63, 627 Dry Branch Rd., husband of Shirley Jane Hall Fister, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 at his home.

Born Nov. 5, 1941 in Lexington, he was a son of Mary Elizabeth Scanlon Fister of Danville and the late Sylvester Francis Fister.

He was a retired maintenance coordinator for Lexmark, and he was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church where he also served as maintenance coordinator. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Reserve.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Katherine E. Bethel and Karen (Mike) Miller, both of Lexington; three sons, William Desha (Stephanie) Fister Jr., also of Lexington, and Joseph William (Jennifer) Fister and Sean B. (Michelle) Pigman, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Libby (Robert) Duffy of Paris and Judy (David) Nehls of Carlisle, and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Sylvester "Buddy" Fister Jr.

The funeral was held Monday, Aug. 8 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Muench officiating. Pallbearers were his children.

Arrangements were handled by Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Andrew Church Building Fund or to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

WILLIAM GILLIAM

William Gordon Gilliam, 71, Price Court, Lancaster, husband of Gerlene Wilson Gilliam, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Sept. 8, 1933 in Madison County, he was a son of the late Charles Tyler and Sallie Lou Moberly Gilliam.

He was a farmer.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: six sons, Ricky (Teresa) Gilliam of Lancaster, Scott (Stephanie) Gilliam of Harrodsburg, Jimmy Gilliam of Winchester, Gordon Ray (Glenna) Gilliam of Lexington, Billy Jarboe of Louisville and Eric Jarboe of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Heather Gilliam, also of Harrodsburg and Deloris Walls of Georgetown; two brothers, Ray "Doodle" (Eulalah) Gilliam and Gene (Paulette) Gilliam, both of Lancaster; four sisters, Mabel (Elwood) Humphrey of Harrodsburg, Edwina (Junior) Humphrey of Lancaster, Emma LaVerne (Fonnie) Horn of Richmond and Stella Mae (Floyd) Cates of Berea; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and 16 nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Friday, Aug. 5 at the Lancaster Baptist Church with Rev. Zach Terry officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edwin Riley and Brandon, Billy Wayne, Ricky, David and Mike Humphrey.

Honorary pallbearers were Don and Miller Horn, Brad and Chad Young and Rick Majors.

Arrangements were handled by Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster.

JULIA HIGGINBOTHAM

Julia Othean Higginbotham, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Aug. 5, 1919 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Addie Lee Oldham Ross.

She was retired from The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, having worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ, she enjoyed her flowers, and she loved being a UK basketball fan.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerry (Donna) Higginbotham and Michael (Dora Lee) Higginbotham, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Loraine Ross, also of Harrodsburg, four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Ansel Ross, Wilbur Ross, Charlie Ross, Stanley Ross, and William Ross, and two sisters, Agnes Jean Ross and Margaret Matherly.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Runner officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.

Pallbearers were Nathan Nichols, Jackie Freeman, Ryan Owens, Dennis Curtsinger, Ralph Culp, Scotty Anderson and Buddy Shirley.

DEBBIE HURST

Debbie P. Hurst, 45, 468 N. Main St., wife of Dalton Hurst, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1959 in Elgin, IL, she was a daughter of the late Tommy Dale Pike and Jane Ann Canter Moss of Mercer County.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and she was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Anderson County.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Brandy (Scott) Hurst, and one son, Kipp Hurst, both of Harrodsburg; her stepfather, J.T. Moss of Mercer County; one sister, Barbara Pike Key of Adair County; two stepsisters, Brenda Vernia of Corydon, IN and Renee Moss of Frankfort, and one stepbrother, Gary Moss, also of Frankfort.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Dale Pike, and one sister, Pamela Sue Flannery.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bobby Logue and Scott Hurst officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary and Darrell Dearing, Logan Woods, Taylor Elliott, Jeff Gullett, and Roland Arnold Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Keith Currens and Brad Hurst.

DAVID LAWSON

David Lance "Davey" Lawson, 50, 1249 Mackville Rd., husband of Lucy Marie Murphy Lawson, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born June 1, 1955 in Mercer County, he was a son of Myron L. Lawson and the late Celestial Ruby Pankey Lawson.

He was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Jessica Nicole Lawson, and one son, David Lance Lawson Jr., both of Danville; two sisters, Peggy Reynolds of Washington County and Betty Sims of Mercer County, and three brothers, Donnie Lawson, Danny Lawson and Tony Lawson, all of Mercer County.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Nelson Reynolds and Terry Orcutt officiating. Burial was in the Deep Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike, John, Keith, Daniel and Jody Humphrey and Rick Helton. Honorary pallbearers were Art Baker, Marty Lawson, Gary Popplewell and Loren Arth.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice.

MARCUS LAWSON

Marcus A. Lawson, 83, Dunnellon, FL, husband of Helen "Jackie" Crews Lawson, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Florida.

Born March 4, 1922 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Raymond and Margaret Newby Lawson.

He served in the army during World War II. He was a disabled veteran and was a member of the EX-POW Club, Blind Vets, American Legion and the VFW.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Vance (Cheryl) Lawson of Dunnellon, FL; one sister, Virginia Yeaste of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Rick Lawson; one brother, William Lawson, and two sisters, Elizabeth Rogers and Velva Sanders.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jim Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Anness, Dennis Shewmaker, Bobby Newby, Donnie Rogers, Bronson Yeaste and John Sutton.

Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Ex-POWS: Morgan French, Bland Moore, Earl Fowler, Lawrence Martin and William Alford.

Visitation Wednesday, Aug. 10 after 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Stem Cell Research.

MINOR MOBLEY

Minor Mobley, 81, Dublin, IN, husband of Mary Geneva Jones Mobley, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.

Born Jan. 6, 1924 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Dewey and Myrtle Coker Mobley.

He was a carpenter, he worked at Miller Dairy and also at Kirkpatrick Gravel Company, both of Cambridge City, IN. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church, and he loved bluegrass music.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: seven daughters, Joan (Joe) McCullough and Mary Ann (Jake) Breeden, both of Dublin, and Helena (Buck) Lundy of Rushville, IN, Phyllis (Carlos) Morgan of Centerville, IN, Betty Boyd and Jane (Alan) Briar, both of Newcastle, IN, and Sandy (Rickie) Sherwood of Cambridge City, IN; one son, Minor Wayne (Esther) Mobley of Hagerstown, IN; two sisters, Cornell Reynolds and Joyce (Billy) Britton, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Ernest (Wilma) Mobley, Garnett (Rena)Mobley and Howard Mobley, all of Harrodsburg; 27 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Hanley Mobley, and three infant brothers; one sister, Kathleen Derosett, and two grandchildren.

The funeral was held Friday, Aug. 5 at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin with Rev. Paul Isch officiating. Burial was in South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Pallbearers were Minor Wayne Mobley, Buck Lundy, Joe McCullough, Jake Breeden, Carlos Morgan, Alan Briar and Rickie Sherwood.

FORREST OVERALL

Forrest T. Overall, 75, Jacksonville, NC, husband of Jenny Overall, died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at his residence.

Born Oct. 14, 1929 in Washington County, he was a son of James and Ruby Shewmaker Overall.

He was a retired master gunnery sergeant, having served 26 years in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School superintendent, usher and board member.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Mike Overall of Laurel, MD; one daughter, Brenda Meredith of Jacksonville, NC; one brother, James Overall of Birmingham, AL; two nieces, Donna Warner and Beverly Davis, both of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean O. Milton.

Arrangements were handled by Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

FLORENCE PETERSON

Florence G. Peterson, 78, Harrodsburg, widow of John Frank Peterson, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 21, 1927 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lilly Spong Peterson.

She was a homemaker, and she volunteered her services to the American Cancer Society with Dr. Dedman. She also was involved with the 366th Fighter Association with her husband.

Survivors include: three sons, John F. "Butch" (Ines) Peterson Jr. of Ramsey, NJ, Harry W. Peterson of Greenwood Lake, NY and Charlie "Chuck" (Fran) Peterson of Viera, FL, and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Visitation Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home.

CHRISTINE ROYALTY

Christine Royalty, 91, 650 Mooreland Ave., widow of Garnett Elbin Royalty, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1914 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emily Coleman Morrissey.

She was a retired Cricketeer Manufacturing seamstress, and she was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include: four sons, William Thomas (Noreta) Royalty, Jerry L. (Susan) Royalty and Terry (Sheryl) Royalty, all of Harrodsburg, and Jack (Betty) Royalty of Lexington; eight grandchildren; four great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Tom Haston Morrissey.

The funeral will be Friday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert Defoor officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John, Kevin and Jason Royalty, William Tandy Quisenberry, Bradley Bottoms, Joseph Turner and John David Sanders.

Honorary bearers will be Bruce Roller, Bob Wise, Stephen Bailey, Willie B. Horn, Arvin Short, Donnie Jackson,and Richard Smith.

Visitation Thursday, Aug. 11 after 5 p.m. and Friday after 7:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.

HOWARD SEAWRIGHT

Howard Edward Seawright, 78, of Walnut Street, Danville, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born Oct. 31, 1926, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charles and Sally McKitric Seawright.

He was a retired employee of Cincinnati Milacron Co., a member of St. James AME Church and a graduate of Bate High School.

Survivors include his wife, Anginette Seawright; two daughters, Rhonda S. Robinson, Burlington and Phyllis J. Brown, Cincinnati; one sister, Katherine Withers, Danville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at St. James AME Church by the Rev. William Jenkins. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chris Huff, Dalyn Brown, Jairon Robinson, Chris Brown, Matthew Robinson and Lamont Gray.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of arrangements.

EMMIE TINDALL

Emmie Gaines Tindall, age 73, of Eagle Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, August 6, 2005 at James B. Haggin Hospital in Harrodsburg.

Bornorn October 2, 1931 in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Ona Frances Gaines and Tom Gaines.

She was a retired employee of Bendix in Frankfort and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Tindall, Jr.; two sons, James William Tindall and his wife Marlene of Lawrenceburg, and John Thomas Tindall of Frankfort; five grandchildren, John William Tindall of Woodford County, Jennifer Renee Fields of Frankfort, William Francis Tindall of Lawrenceburg, Lisa Faye Johnson of Waverly, Ohio, and Margaret Holt of Lawrenceburg; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Olena McCounn and five brothers, Lloyd, Velma, Elza, Emmitt, and William Gaines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Jones officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.

Casket bearers were John William Tindall, Buster Tindall, Lloyd Douglas Gaines, Rodney Edward Gaines, Jimmy Gaines and Ricky Gaines.

Honorary bearers will be Granddaughters.

Memorials are suggested to Fellowship Baptist Church, c/o John Aldridge, 1140 Drury Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
