Mirtie Adkinson Dean, 93, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1913 in Cornishville, she was the daughter of James Cornelius and Ida Sandra Hellard Adkinson, and was the widow of James Creath Dean.
She had been employed by Brody’s Coat Factory, Northern Illinois University, Spurgeon’s Clothing, Chapel Hill Golf Club and Russell’s Greenhouse. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was past president of the Haggin Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, needlework, playing rook, playing the piano and singing in the church choir.
Survivors include: three daughters, Darlene (Jerry) Wiggins of DeKalb, IL, Jackie (Dick) Rains of Canton, GA, and Sandra (Russ) Russell of Harrodsburg; one sister, Rosalyn Wilson of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special caregiver, Pearl Chambers.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Oather, Otis, Owen and Rainie Lee Adkinson; four sisters, Isa Mae Lay, Maudie Catlett, Birdie Hellard and Blanche Whittinghill, and two grandchildren, Jerri Lynn Wiggins and Robert Andrew Wiggins.
Services will be held Friday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Troy Young officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Rains, Jeremy Russell, Shane Russell, Clint Russell, Leo Lay and Bobby Catlett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ruby Raley, Patsy Dean, Josephine Bugg, Ruby Tackett, Judy Sanders and Rosalee Drury.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday after 7 a.m.
LAURA GADBERRY
Laura Mae Gadberry, 34, of Knifley Road, Elkhorn, died Thursday October 12, 2006.
Born January 3, 1972, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Doris Jean Davis.
Survivivors include: her husband, John Gadberry, Elkhorn, one son, Doug Austin Wheeler; one daughter, Nakayla Grace Gadberry, both of Elkhorn, three stepchildren, Jessica Gadberry, Dunnville, Miranda Gadberry, Campbellsville and T. J. Gadberry, Liberty, one step granddaughter, two brothers Troy Lynn Davis, Campbellsville, and Todd Davis, Harrodsburg. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, at the Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel, Cambellsville, by Rev. Don Gowin. Burial will be in the Benningfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m., Saturday.
MOLLY HUGHES
Molly Lee Sea Hughes, 86, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at the Heritage Hall Care Center.
Born April 4, 1920 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late John Adams and Cora Bell Jenkins Sea, and was the widow of Marvin G. Hughes.
She was a homemaker and member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Ray Hughes of Mercer County; one brother, Jesse Sea of Bardstown; seven grandchildren, including Janice (Steve) Cloyd of Mercer County, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Harold Jefferson Hughes; one daughter, Margaret Yeager; one grandson, Jeff Hughes; four brothers, Leonard, Jim, Bright and Daily Sea, and five sisters, Katherine Davis, Hazel Barnett, Martha Grubbs, Bertha Grubbs and Sadie Brown.
Services were held Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
ZILPHA LISTER
Zilpha Lee Lister, 89, of Louisville, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in Louisville.
Born Sept. 26, 1917, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Thomas Lister.
He was a retired forklift operator for Durkee Foods, a World War II Army veteran and a Baptist.
Survivors include: three sons, Jerry Lister, Indiana, Ronald Lister, Brooks, Donald Lister, Louisville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by Rev. Ed Stucky. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daniel, Joshua and John Lister, Robie Cope, Matt Moakler and Tommy Spaulding.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Friday.
DAVID MARCHIALETTE
David Lee Marchialette, 46, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at his home.
Born June 3, 1960 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Warren Marchialette of Las Vegas and the late Marie Trisler Marchialette.
He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and was employed at Fitzgerald’s Casino in Las Vegas as an assistant supervisor.
In addition to his father, survivors include: one daughter, Taylor Marie Marchialette of Las Vegas; one son, Michael Marchialette of Las Vegas; one uncle, and several aunts and cousins.
Services were held in Las Vegas. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
JOVITA SALAZAR
Jovita Salazar, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 6, 1925 in Corpus Christi, TX, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Eloise Anthony Ramos, and was the widow of Alexandro Salazar.
She was a homemaker and attended the Greater Harvest Church.
Survivors include: six sons, Robert Salazar of Junction City, Daniel Salazar of Springfield, MO, Ricardo Salazar of Georgia, and Jesus, Ralph and Roger Salazar, all of Lafayette, IN; two daughters, Gloria Cooper of Birch Run, MI, and Lydia Stevens of Newtown, IN, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Alex Salazar Jr. and Gilbert Salazar; one daughter, Alicia Salazar; one brother, Ray Ramos, and her sisters.
Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, IN, with Carla Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Green Bay Cemetery in Newtown, IN.
Pallbearers will be Roger, Ralph, Jesse, Robert and Dan Salazar and Dennis Cooper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

TANA SESTER
Tana Lynn Clark Sester, 37, of Mackville, formerly of Shepherdsville, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at Hospice of Louisville.
Born in Louisville, she was the daughter of Jerry and Wanda Clark and James and Delores Fulkerson, and was the wife of Jason Paul Sester.
She was a member of the alumni association of North Bullitt High School, class of 1988. She was employed by the Kroger Company in Bardstown, and was a member of Mt. Elmira Baptist Church and the Burgin Church of God.
In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include: one step-son, Matthew Sester; one step-daughter, Emily Sester; two sisters, Dee Sharber and Melinda (Ed) Ramos; one step-brother, Larry Logsdon; parents-in-law, R. B. and Delores Sester of Harrodsburg; one niece, one nephew, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held Sunday, Oct. 15 at the Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville. Burial was in Hebron Cemetery.

BILLY SANDERS
Billy Dean Sanders, 73, of Greenbriar Drive, Harrodsburg, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006.
Born Oct. 23, 1932 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Russell and Vernetta Rae Springate Sanders, and was the husband of Joyce Houchins Sanders.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired employee of Corning Glass and Phillips Lighting. He was a Life Member of the VFW and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a volunteer fireman for many years, an avid NASCAR fan, and he loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Virginia (Thomas) Helbling of Lexington and Joy (Eugene) Myatt of Mt. Heron; one son, Jimmy (Lora Ann) Sanders of Harrodsburg and six grandchildren, Russ Sanders, Jessica Hilbling, Dee Dee O’Hara, Adam Myatt, Jason Sanders and Justin Myatt.
Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Defoor officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Russ Sanders, Jessica Hilbling, Dee Dee O’Hara, Adam Myatt, Jason Sanders, Justin Myatt, Heather Sanders and Brendan O’Hara.
Visitation at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service.

MARVIN STINNETT
Marvin Stinnett, 71, of Junction City, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Earl and Hattie Gullett Stinnett. He was the widower of Mary Jean Frazzell Stinnett.
He was an electrician for Dixon Electric in Lexington. He also was a historian and a licensed pilot. He was a member of the Gyro Club and the Game Gun Club in Junction City.
Survivors include: two sons, Johnny Stinnett, Mercer County, Stephen Stinnett, Moreland; two daughters, Debbie Southerland, Hustonville, Kathy Edwards, Stanford; three brothers, Richard Stinnett, Jessamine County, Arvil Stinnett, Lincoln County, Gene Stinnett, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Ruth Coontz, Harrodsburg, Martha Pennington, Stanford, Lois Stinnett, Nicholasville; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Owen Moody. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Thursday.

ELIJAH STRATTON
Elijah Morton Stratton, 75, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, October 13, 2006 at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1932 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Myrtie Wilson and John Morton Stratton.
He was a retired maintenance man with Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for 23 years. He was a former plumber for Cart Trent Plumbing and a sharecropper with Buzz Cartinour. He was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margie Davis Stratton; four children, Ray (Donna) Stratton, David (Becky) Stratton, Sissy White and Ronnie Cheatham, and Nathan Richardson, all of Lawrenceburg; four sisters, Evelyn (Earl) Hawkins, Sarah (Wayne) Doss, Virginia Mae (Mike) Price, all of Lawrenceburg, Mayme Carmickle, Frankfort; four brothers, William (Phyllis) Stratton, and Jay Stratton, both of Lexington, Gilbert (Wilma) Stratton, Harrodsburg, Robert Stratton, Frankfort; special friends, Betty Shouse and Crystal Perry; grandchildren, Kristi McIntosh, Justin Michael Stratton, Jarrod Ray Stratton, Jessica Dedman, Melissa Adkins, Kyle White, Steven White, Ethan Richardson, and Brent Stratton; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Cunningham, Alex McIntosh, Dalton Chesser, Makayla Stratton, Gracie Dedman, Adam Dedman, Hayden Adkins, Colton White, Landon White, and Cory Stratton.
He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Tom Akins, a brother, Goodloe Stratton, and three sisters, Joyce Douglas, Elizabeth Rogers, and Louise Stratton.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Mark Webb and Bro. Jerry Dedman officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

LUCILE TRAILER
Lucile Shearer Trailer, 81, of Jamestown, died Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 14, 1924, in Forkland, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Alma Sullivan Burger.
Survivors include: seven daughters, Rebecca Shearer McFarland, Jamestown, Helen Whitaker, Nora Sims, Martha Harlow, Sue Lamb and Beulah Hourigan, all of Harrodsburg, and Glenna Sallee, Greenwood, IN; three brothers, Claude Burger, Harrodsburg, Robert Burger, Danville, and Margin Burger, OH; four sisters, Ruth Cooley, Christine Warren and Zula Wilson, all of Danville, and Zora Pike, Booneville, MS; 18 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Bill Johnson, James Shearer and Curtis Trailer.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel by Junior Fields. Burial will be in Reagan Cemetery.

FRANCES CAMIC
Frances Freeman Camic, 86, of Cardinal Drive, Danville, died Friday, October 20, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born January 12, 1920, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Thelma Riley Freeman.
She was a public health nurse in Mercer County. She was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and a volunteer for Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include: her husband, Roy R. Camic; two daughters, Sandy Arcuri, Bend, OR, and Bettie Kingkade, Lexington; one son, Michael R. Camic, Danville; two sisters, Nellie Bottoms, Harrodsburg, and Lillie Mayes, Mackville; and three grandchildren.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville.

FLORA CASSELL
Flora L. Cassell, 93, of Parson Street, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan. 23, 1913 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry B. and Alice Lillard Cassell.
She was a retired teacher having taught in the Burgin and Harrodsburg School systems. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, the Kentucky and Mercer Retired Teachers associations, and was a graduate of Transylvania University where she was a Sigma Delta.
Survivors include: two cousins, Kristen M. Mangino and Jofreda Mikelson, both of Washington state, and special friend, Joan Brook-Smith of Harrodsburg.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church chapel with Dann Masden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
WILLIAM DARNELL
William Robert Darnell, 77, of Vero Beach, FL, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at his home.
He was born in 1929 in Washington County and was the husband of Rosie Darnell.
He had been a service station employee and an equipment operator in the citrus industry and for Piper Aircraft. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Danny Robert and Rickey Joe Darnell, both of Vero Beach; two brothers, Luther Darnell of Vero Beach and Randall Darnell of Louisiana; three sisters, Dorothy Vanarsdall of Harrodsburg, Sarah Brown of Cincinnati, OH, and Nancy Bailey of Danville; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Burial was in Winter Beach Cemetery.
FLONNIE GODBEY
Flonnie Marie Godbey, 85, formerly of Mercer County, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at the Island Lake Center in Longwood, FL.
Born Sept. 30, 1921 in Liberty, she was the daughter of the late Simon Thomas and Mary Frances York Douglas, and was the widow of Claudie B. Godbey.
She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Ivadean Preston of Harrodsburg, Nannie Guthrie of Winter Springs, FL, and Faustine Ames of Mercer County; one son, Lester B. Godbey of Nashville, MI; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Easterling officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
