JOHN POTTER
John Potter, 41, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at his home.

Born Aug. 25, 1965 in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late John Rocky and Linda Gail Hunter Potter, and was the husband of Jennifer Abrams.

He was a self employed carpenter and had attended Seco Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: five sons, John Potter, Clayton Potter and Logan Doss, all of Danville, and Chance Potter and Jacob Potter, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Dezarae Doss of Danville; two brothers, Teddy Schultz of Seco and Tony Potter of McRoberts; two sisters, Tiny Potter of Piney Flats, TN, and Debbie Potter of Miami, FL; former wife, Melissa Doss, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Potter, and one grandmother, Granny Gertrude.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with family members speaking. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Potter, Clayton Potter, Danny Johnson, Teddy Schultz, Bobby Moore and Tony Potter.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Cox and Al Cox.

DORIS REECE
Doris Reece, 83, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006.

Born Sept. 1, 1923 in Salvisa, she was the daughter of the late Granville Elmore and Gladys E. Crossfield Dean, and was the widow of Audley Reece.

She was a retired employee of the Toledo Steel Company, and was a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church.

Survivors include: five sisters, Maxine (Billy) Taylor and Janice (I. C.) Phillips, both of Harrodsburg, Rita (Richard) Cerrato of Alaclua, FL, Bruce Lee Dunn of Lexington and Joyce Sturgeon of Louisville; one brother, Robert (Ester) Dean of Lakewood, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 30 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Matthew Atha and John David Lane officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Salvisa.

Pallbearers were Larry Phillips, Gary Dean, Mark Dean, Todd Taylor, Travis Taylor, Dean Sturgeon, Ricky Hollingsworth and Stephen Dean.

Honorary pallbearers were Gene Newman, Barbara Selby, Renee Lange, Tina Eldridge and Deborah Garrett.

HELEN ROBINSON
Helen Robinson, 64, of Salvisa, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born May 18, 1942 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Lela D. Holt Robinson, and was the widow of William E. “Ras” Robinson.

She was a retired seamstress from Cricketeer Manufacturing Company, and was a member of the Salvisa Baptist Church. She volunteered for several years with the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Todd Robinson of Lawrenceburg and Roy Lynn Robinson of Salvisa; one adopted son, Robert “Bobby” Willard; two sisters, Barbara Stratton of Lawrenceburg and Linda Wright of Harrodsburg; one brother, Lillard Robinson of Lawrenceburg; three brothers-in-law, Clifford Wright and James ”Red” Robinson, both of Harrodsburg, and Rayford Robinson of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Lyda Robinson and Nancy Robinson, both of Salvisa; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; best friend, Mary Dennison of Harrodsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Robinson Zeliff.

Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jason Clark and Larry Koch officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Robinson, Jimmy Stratton, Ricky Bast, Todd Stevens, Tracy Sipes and Greg Atchison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Wright, Bobby Ross, Phillip Young, Jim “Red” Robinson, Rayford Robinson, Chuck Dixon, Greg Land and David Wayne Johnson.

Visitation at the funeral chapel Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Outpatient Infusion, 1720 Nicholasville Road, Lexington KY 40503, or to the American Cancer Society.

KATHLEEN SPROWL
Kathleen Sprowl, 75, of Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at her home.

Survivors include: two sons, Mark and Fred Sprowl; two daughters, Donna Cecil and Linda Hatfield; one sister, Adeline York; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the J. B. Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Post #54 conducted military rites for Edward L. Pittman at Spring Hill Cemetery Oct. 25, 2006.

Those attending were Joe Harlow, Curtis Sherrow, Floyd Shirley, Earl Sherrow, Lucian Landers and Howard H. Howells Sr.

Bugler was David Best.

Army representatives from Fort Knox were SFC Edward Vaars and SSC Owen Hartley.

MILITARY RITES

Army representatives from Fort Knox were SSC Randy Mayse and SSC Charles Gould.

JOYCE BROOKS

Joyce Marie Jasper Brooks, 60, of Junction City, died Wednesday November 1, 2006 in Danville.

Born May 10, 1946, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of Bonnie Dunbar Jasper and the late Raymond Jasper.

She was an employee of Giovanni's Restaurant and Boyle County Schools.

Survivors include: three daughters, Judy Walls, Florida, Debbie Brooks, Junction City and Mary Pulliam, Harrodsburg; six brothers, Buster, Donald and David Jasper, all of Somerset, Wendell and Cecil Jasper, both of Ohio, and Gary Jasper, Lancaster; three sisters, Helen Tussey, Danville, Janet Williams, Goodland, IN, and Karen Lawless, Somerset; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, at the Stith Funeral Home and Family Center, Junction City, by Rev. James Kelly.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Junction City. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Memorials may go to Southern Heights Baptist Church.

ERNEST CESA

Ernest Peter Cesa, 83, of Perryville Road, Harrodsburg, died Monday, October 30, 2006 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born March 5, 1923, in Toby, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rosina Chininero Cesa.

He was a retired foreman at Airco Sphere, a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include: his wife, Lilly Cesa; one son, Joseph Cesa of Williamsport, PA; three daughters, Rose Mary Millen and Mary Cesa, both of Pittsburgh, PA, and Pat Critchfield, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Ester Rettger, Mount Jewett, PA, and Rose Kulic, Butler, PA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Cesa.

Services will be held Saturday, November 4, at Lynch Green Funeral Home in St. Mary, PA. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Kersey, PA

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

SCOTT COFFMAN

Robert “Scott” Coffman, 38, of Paradise Camp Road, Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006.

Born May 11, 1968 in Mercer County, he was the son of Bob and Phyllis Ann Murphy Coffman.

He worked with his father at Coffman Construction.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: two daughters, Faith and Addison Skye Coffman, both of Harrodsburg; one son, David Coffman of Harrodsburg; one step-son, Adam Heathman of Harrodsburg, and one sister, Tammy (Chuck) Devine of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Bobbie Sue Moore.

Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 6 at Burgin Memorial Gardens with Terry Morrison officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wilderness Trace YMCA, Swim Team, 130 N. College Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

ELIZABETH CULTON
Elizabeth P. Culton, (87)of Runyon Road, Harrodsburg, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born in Greensburg (November 3, 1919), she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena Salmon Patrum, and was the wife of Daniel “Dan” Johnson Culton.

She received her teaching certificate from Western Kentucky University and taught in the Green County, Russell County, Louisville and Harrodsburg school systems for more than 40 years. She served on the Mercer County Library Board and was an avid Bridge player. She was a longtime member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Gerry (Jody) Sharpe of Danville; one son, Tom (Janie) Culton of Greenville; two sisters, Dixie (H.D.) Jasper of Paris and Frankie (Milton) Shuffett of Lexington; two grandsons, and one nephew.

Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Klemme officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scott Steinhauer, Lin Sharpe, Scott Moseley, Tim Ellis, John “Skeeter” Reed and Dr. Don Notter.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Houchin, Donald Cole, Joe Stevens and Brent Notter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Versailles, or to the Mercer County Library.

MARY DEVINE
Mary Katherine Devine, 88, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born April 16, 1918 in Mackville, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Rushie Lee Bottom Tyler, and was the widow of James E. Devine.

She was homemaker and a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Devine of Harrodsburg; one sister, Betty Mae Murphy of Lexington; one granddaughter, Kimberly Hope Zimmerman of Houston, TX; one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis, Donald and J.C. Tyler, and one sister, Sally Ann Hourigan.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Crowe officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Tyler, Morris Tyler, Donald Tyler Jr., Dennis Tyler, Curtis B. Tyler Jr. and John David Tyler.

DOUG KINDER
Walter “Doug” Howard Kinder Sr., 80, of Versailles, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at the Bluegrass Community Hospital in Versailles.

Born July 26, 1926 in Mercer County, he was the son of Thomas Eli and Maudie Ray Harley Kinder, and was the husband of Sylvia Ree McKinney Kinder.

He was a retired farmer and an accomplished story teller who was giving and kind-hearted.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Walter Howard Kinder Jr. of Versailles; three daughters, Donna Kinder (Russell) Gardner and Lisa Kinder (Jeff) Hall, both of Versailles, and Barbra Kinder (Phillip) Devers of Midway; four sisters, Annie Doyle of Lake City, FL, Elizabeth Tatum of Festis Gardens, MO, Nellie Turner of Harrodsburg and Jewell Satterly of Louisville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ike, Hollie, James, Buggs, Thomas, Roy, and Dutch Kinder, and three sisters, Vera Connor, Katherine Smith and Georgie Kinder.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Lakes officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Strange, Cody Strange, Jeff Hall, Troy Thompson, Mitch Keaton and Vince Kinder.

Honorary pallbearers were Walter Kinder III, Brent Satterly and Donald Evans.

VIOLA LESTER
Viola Burton Lester, 98, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 at Pine Meadows Health Care in Lexington.

She was the daughter of the late Elmer T. and Minnie Reed Burton, and was the widow of Everett Lester.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jane Compton Bowers of Lexington; seven grandchildren, including Norma Compton Degneau of Harrodsburg and Cheryl Compton Butler of Louisville; six great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Onita Burton Richardson, and two sons, Eugene B. Compton and Byron T. Compton.

Pruitt Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.

GENEVA LITTERAL
Geneva I. Litteral, 89, of Cornishville, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 in Lexington.

Born April 11, 1917 in Dekalb, IL, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Susie (Votaw) Isham.

She owned and operated Litteral Grocery for 39 years and worked at Cricketeer for over 20 years. She was a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Hilda Mae Pike of Lexington; one son, Donald Litteral of Cornishville; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin C. Isham, and one great-grandson, Jeremey Hardin.

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Paul Readnouer officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Greg Brown, Billy Grider, George Hendrix, Tom Bohon, Johnny Warner and Denny Thompson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Bible Fund or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

DIXIE LOGUE
Dixie Logue, 72, of Harvey Pike, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006.

Born June 28, 1934 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Grant Lee and Viola Sharp Launders, and was the wife of Walter Lee Logue.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Larry Thomas Logue of Berea; one sister, Barbara Brown of Burgin, and three brothers, Lucian Landers of Harrodsburg, Charles Thomas Landers of Simpsonville and James Ray Landers of Lyndon.

Services will be held Thursday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Vanover, John Logue, Mike Logue, Steven Landers, Gary Brown and Eddie Curry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McMurry and Frank Brown.

Visitation at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
