He was born May 5, 1949 in Pulaski County.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 17, at the Marvin Hicks Funeral Home, 805 N. Main Street, Monticello. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday.
Memorial donations may go to Wilderness Trace Child Development Center in honor of his grandson, Myles Bell.
CLARENCE BROWN
Clarence Brown, 77, of Lincoln County, died Sunday December 17, 2006 at his home.
Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Margaret Walls Brown.
He was an employee of the state highway department and a member of the New Bethel Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Eunice Mason Brown; one son, Billy L. Brown, Lincoln County; one daughter, Nona Naylor, Danville; one sister, Flossie Bradshaw, Burgin; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, at the Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford, by Arnold Larkin and Virgil Eubank. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby and Ray Brown, Mark Peck, Jerry Naylor Jr., Dale Reed, Jeremiah Brandenburg, Greg Allen and Mark Bradshaw.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
EDMUND CARTER
Edmund Carter, 86, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at his home.
Born June 3, 1920 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of the late Edmund and Catherine Noremac Carter, and was the widower of Marion Thompson Carter and Evelyn Patricia Carter.
He was a veteran of the Canadian Army and a retired Hall Mack industrial engineer. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include: one son, Glenn (Kathy) Carter of Harrodsburg; one brother, Lindsey Carter of Canada; two sisters, Gloria Ryan and Margaret Carter, both of Canada; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Keith Cameron Carter, and one sister, Shirley Cadeux.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Father Danny Schwendemen officiating.
The Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
BETH CURRENS
Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Lane Currens, age 47, of Kentucky Street, Shelbyville, died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at her residence.
She was born May 2, 1959 in Frankfort.
She was a former supervisor for Clay County Home Health. She was a 1977 graduate of Anderson High School, and received her nursing degree from Somerset Community College.
She is survived by: one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Currens, London; one son, Christopher Jacob Currens, Richmond; parents, Nancy Lou Shely Coburn and her husband, Mel, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Amy (Toby) Jamieson, Lexington, Nancy Peach, and Cindy Robinson, both of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, Connor Currens, Allyson Phillips, and Kristian Currens, all of London; four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marion “Bud” Lane, maternal grandparents, Margaret and Bryan Shely.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 17, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Rev. John David Lane officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in Mercer County.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, and 12 noon until the time of service Sunday.
Casketbearers will be Bill McGrath, Kelly Currens, Larry Basham, Kyle Thacker, Chris Patton, Mel Coburn, Chris Currens, and Nicholas Robinson.
DEBRA GOINS
Debra Woods Goins, 50, of Waterworks Road, Danville, formerly of Lancaster, died Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Central Baptist Hospital.
Born June 24, 1956, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of Bonnie Jean Woods and the late Dallas E. Woods.
She was an industrial seamstress.
Survivors include: her husband, James Goins; one son, Stuart Goins, Stanford; one brother, Freddie Woods, Lancaster; three sisters, Kathy Woods, Burgin and Vickie Plunket and Linda Tipton, both of Lancaster; and one grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 21, at the Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford, by Henderson Goins. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.
RICHARD JONES
Richard Jones, 46, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sept. 28, 1960 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Dalton and Brenda Noel Jones of Harrodsburg and Bonnie Cowan Lay of Delray Beach, FL, and was the husband of Traci Howard Jones.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an automotive material handler at Hitachi. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include: one son, Derek Scott Jones of Harrodsburg; one brother, Barry Jones of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Lisa (Andy) Wik of Deerfield Beach, FL, Kim Russell of Harrodsburg and Janet (Keith) Vivian of Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 20 at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Burkhead, Mike Baker and Gary Baker officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken Pankow, William Madden, Tim Sallee, Kevin Horn, Jeff Greer, William Rogers, Mike Hale, Scott Beavers and James Taylor.
Members of the Hopewell Baptist Church Pairs and Spares Sunday School class served as honorary pallbearers.

SCOTT JONES SR.
Scott Lawrence Jones Sr., 66, formerly of North Fort Street, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care facility.
Born April 5, 1940 in Mayo, he was the son of the late Sam and Lucille Walker Jones, and was the widower of Sara Elizabeth Parks Jones.
He attended West Side School and Harrodsburg High School, was a former line buffer at Hall Mack and maintenance worker at Fort Harrod. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.
Survivors include four sons, Scott L. Jones Jr. and James S. Jones, both of Lexington, Larry D. Jones of Stanford and Kimble (Tracey) Jones of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Donna (Donald) Scott of Manning, SC; two brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Jones of Harrodsburg and James “Jack” (Maxie) Jones of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Charles Jones, and two sisters, Helen Cheanault and Gladys Vaughn.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 18 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bros. M.L. Trabue, Phil Yates and J.D. Short III officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Yates, James Lyons, Kenton Bottoms, James Thurman, C.L. Bartleson, Chris Short and Truman Bartleson Jr.

RICHARD JUSTICE
Richard Justice, 71, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Liberty, died Monday December 11, 2006 the at University Hospital in Louisville.
Born Feb. 24, 1935, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Loushel and Lizzie Baxter Justice.
He was a retired mechanic with Caldwell Stone Co. in Danville, an Army veteran of the Korean War and the widower of Bonnie Sallee Justice.
Survivors include: two sons, Paul Justice and Richard Justice Jr., both of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Patricia Peavler, Danville and Saundra Neal, Lexington; three brothers, Earl Justice, IN and Kermit Justice and Shelby Justice, both of Stanford; three sisters, Lela McDonald, Harrodsburg, Betty Black, OH and Mary Chumbley, IN; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, Liberty, by Clifford DeHart. Burial will be in Luttrell Cemetery.
WALTER RUSSELL JR.
Walter “Pluto” Russell Jr. of Richmond, formerly of Danville, died Dec. 13, 2006 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 15, 1931 in Danville, he was the son of the late Walter and Rebecca Lay Russell Sr., and was the husband of Donna Russell.
He was a graduate of Danville High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Farmdale Baptist Church in Frankfort, a former member of the Elks Club of Richmond, and was a retired salesman.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Mark Alan Russell of Liberty Township, OH; two daughters, Lisa Brown of Harrodsburg and Renae Johnson of Mt. Juliet, TN, and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 18 at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Military Honors were provided by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Boyle Post #46.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
LINDA SYMPSON
Linda Joyce Sympson, 64, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
The former Linda Stine, she was a native of Mercer County and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, James G. Sympson; a daughter, Sheila (Mike) Weakley, Bardstown; three sons, Tommy Sympson, James Sympson Jr., and Scott (Tina) Sympson, all of Bardstown; her mother, Ella Stine Curtsinger, Lawrenceburg; four sisters, JoAnn (Cledith) Hall, Dania (Tom) Sullivan, Lawrenceburg, Jean (Jimmy) Ballard, Catlettsburg, and Janice (Jake) Wallenbrock, Versailles; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Darlene Sympson, and her father, Laddy Clifton Stine.
Funeral services were Saturdaym December 9, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home in Bardstown with Bro. Mike Miller officiating.
Entombment was in Highland Memory Garden in Mount Washington.
SHERRY SWICKARD
Linden Sherry Swickard, 63, of Danville, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Nov. 30, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Willard E. and Rose Baber Jackson, and was the widow of Lloyd E. Swickard Sr.
She was a member of the Berea Christian Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: three daughters, Jennie Penland of Graham, NC, Laura Frances Lannan of Connerville, IN, and Joyce L. Sharpe of Danville; two sons, Lloyd E. Swickard Jr. and Gerry Olsen, both of Danville; one sister, Joyce Whitten, and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Victoria Lannan.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Garry Allen officiating. Burial was in Berea Christian Cemetery.
JOYCE WOOLSEY
Barbara Joyce "Nana" Woolsey, 63, of Waco, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at the home of her daughter Lisa in Johnson City, TN.
She was a native of Harrodsburg, daughter of the late, Roy and Flossie Spaulding Campbell.
She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, she loved people was talented with a crochet needle and had a love of animals.
She was a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Edward L. Woolsey, two brothers, Phillip and Roy Mills Campbell and a sister, Sandra Guinn.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Hallmark and her fiancé, Jeff Fleenor, Johnson City, TN, and Theresa (Kevin) Ward of Lake City, FL; two sons, Phillip Howard (Teresa) Releford, Harrodsburg, and Eddie Woolsey and his fiancé' Ashley, Charlotte, NC; a sister, Carla Campbell, Clinton, MA; five grandchildren Ronnie, Bobby and Morgan, Jennifer Lynn and Fred Howard; four great-grandchildren Jay Tavius, Christopher, Serria and Jacob; several nieces and nephews; also her faithful companion DeeDee.

WILLIAM ADKINSON
William Thomas Adkinson, 76, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Sept. 9, 1930 in Washington County, he was the son of Ellen Faye Royalty Adkinson and the late Hobert Adkinson, and was the husband of Margaret Murphy Adkinson.
He was a veteran of both the Army and Marine Corps. He was a retired quality control engineer at IBM, Inc., and he was a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church, the American Legion and the V.F.W.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include: two daughters, Rita (Larry) Inman and Sherri (Rex) Kidd, both of Harrodsburg; one son, Gary Thomas (Robbie) Adkinson of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Helen McRay of Lake City, FL, and Diana (Jimmy) Norvell of Harrodsburg; one brother, Waldon “Red” (Ina) Adkinson of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Reid and David Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral chapel Thursday after 5 p.m.

DOROTHY BROCK
Dorothy Jean Elder Brock, age 74, wife of Vance G. Brock, of Stanford, Ky. died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the Golden Living Center in Stanford.
She was born on June 8, 1932 in Crab Orchard, Ky. a daughter of the late Samuel Perkins and Maudie Beatrice Miller Elder.
She was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed housework. On December 20, 1952, she was united in holy matrimony to Vance G. Brock and from that union came one child, Curtis G. Brock.
Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, Mr. Vance G. Brock of Stanford; one son, Curtis G. (Kathy Phillippee) Brock, Stanford; one grandchild. Kristi (Travis) Crawford, Science Hill; and one great grandchild, Austyn Lacey Crawford; and a brother, Daniel R. Elder, Burgin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Perkins Elder, Jr., and David C. Elder, a sister, Patsy Sue Gordon and five half sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 6-9 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 27th, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Bro.Dan Gutenson officiating, Burial will be in Camp Nelson Military Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the South Fork Baptist Church Building fund.
