Born in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of Grover C. and Jimmie S. Farris of Harrodsburg.
Mrs. Javid was a graduate of Mississippi State University. She was formerly employed at the Jockey Club and had been the Administrator for the Thoroughbred Farm Manager's Club. She was an avid antique dealer and a member of Southland Christian Church.
Survivors, other than her husband and parents, include: a son, Samuel Javid of Lexington; a daughter, Catherine Javid, also of Lexington; a brother, Gary Farris of Bellechase, LA; and a sister, Sherie Farris of Garland, TX.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 20, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd, Lexington. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.
EVA PATRICK
Eva Lucille Pennington Patrick, 68, died Thursday, October 18 at the home of her daughter in Mt. Sterling.
Born November 7, 1938 in Woodford County, she was a daughter of the late John and Carrie Lane Pennington.
She was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Versailles.
Survivors include: five daughters, Rita (Gary) Ray of Mt. Sterling, Debbie Collins and Jackie (James) Gullette, both of Harrodsburg, Doris Osborne of Prestonsburg, Faye Collins of Versailles; three sons, Rodney Patrick of Lexington, Willie Collins and Mike Collins, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Gladys Pettyjohn and Flora Bell Smith, both of Versailles, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mary Ellen Wright and Louise Wethington, and two brothers, Kenneth Pennington and Cecil Pennington, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 22, at the Church of God of Prophecy, Versailles. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.
DAVID ROYALTY
David Roscoe Royalty, 43 of 736 Greenbriar Dr., Harrodsburg, KY, died Saturday October, 20, 2007 at his home.
Born in Frankfort, he was the son of Arlie Roscoe and Martha Cheatham Royalty. He was the husband of Debbie Ann Spaulding Royalty.
He was a retired auto mechanic and painter and member of the Eller’s Memorial Baptist Church.
In additon to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Ann Marie Ratliff of Danville.
The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse and Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
HARRY SETTLES
Harry Kays "H" Settles, 86, died Wednesday October 17, 2007.
Survivors include: his wife, Norma Raybourne Settles; a son, John A. Settles; two daughters-in-law, Jill Settles and Charlotte Settles, five grandchildren, Julie Cox, Jared Settles, Jenna Johnson, Jordan Settles and Jacob Settles.
Services were held Saturday, October 20, at the Mackville Christian Church.

CHARLES WADE
Charles B. “Chuck” Wade, 86, Lexington, widower of Mildred Renfro Wade, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital
He was born in Perryville, son of the late Charles P. and Sadie Thomas Wade.
Upon graduation from Harrodsburg High School, he attended the University of Kentucky. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he had been chairman of the deacons, Literature Secretary, usher, and chairman of the Member Service Committee. He also served as chairman of the Pulpit Committee on two different occasions, church clerk, moderator, and Sunday School Director at two churches in Louisville. For five years, following retirement from his Federal job, he worked as a church consultant with United Church Directories.
He also did volunteer work for the Arthritis Foundation and was very active in the local Chapter 97 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He served as president of Chapter 97, treasurer for three years, and chair person on several committees. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and during WW II he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. After discharge from the army, he resumed his college education at UK. During his civilian tenure of 33 years with the Federal Government he served as Instructor Supervisor in the Communication Department of the Armor School at Ft. Knox, KY and Logistics Management Officer for the Dept. of Defense with Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Carla Wade (Robert G.) Hosack, Caneyville, KY; Cheri Wade (Thomas G.) Haney, Lexington; two granddaughters, Tracey Lahr, Christie Wesley; five great-grandchildren, Colton Boggs, Cheyenne Boggs, Jordan McPhee, Rylan McPhee, Madison McPhee; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, at the Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville.

GALE WEBB
Gale Morgeson Webb, 51, of Perryville, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in Danville; she was the wife of Mike Webb.
Born Sept. 23, 1956, in Marion County, she was a daughter of Richard and Margaret Sullivan Morgeson of Lebanon.
Gale was an office manger for National City Bank in Perryville, a 1974 graduate of Marion County High School and a member of Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Morgeson Gammon.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Dana Borders of Springfield; a son, Michael Paul Webb of Perryville; a sister, Connie Shively of Lebanon; two brothers, Tony Morgeson of Lebanon and Jack Morgeson of Harrodsburg; and a grandson, Micah Paul Borders.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 18, at the Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church in Danville by the Rev. Tim Miller and Rev. Tim Russ. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery in Washington County.
Pallbearers were Josh, Brandon and Greg Morgeson, Tim Webb, Paul Borders, Bob Lewis and Brad Gammon.

Gladys Watts Yocum, 89, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at the Heritage Hall Care Center.
Born March 13, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Cordelia Cummins Watts and the wife of the late Cecil G. Yocum.
She was a retired employee with Austin Nichols Distiller, a Harrodsburg High School graduate, and a member of the Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church.
She is survived by: one daughter, Glenda (William) Zopff of Lawrenceburg; one son, Larry (Rosalie) Yocum of Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren, Bill (Teresa) Zopff of San Antionio, TX, David (Patty) Zopff of Shelbyville, Daniel (Randa) Zopff of Phoenix, AZ, Andrew (Amy) Zopff of Lawrenceburg, Allen (Melissa) Yocum of Lawrenceburg, Paul (Rena) Yocum of Hopkinsville, Michelle (Shaun) LaMaster of Greenville, Matthew (Amber) Lentz of Florence, AL, and Joshua Lentz of Florence, AL, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Yocum; four brothers, Ernest, Stanley, Marvin and Elvin Watts, and two sisters, Iris Watts Lay and Beatrice Watts Stanforth.
Services were held Saturday Oct. 20, 2007 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.

JUDY BEGLEY
Judy (Judith Guyn) Begley, 70, died at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center on Oct. 26, 2007.
Born Nov. 19, 1936 in Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Johnnie O’Connell Morrissey and was the wife of Bill Begley.
She was a registered nurse for 49 years and worked at the Garrard County Hospital as the assistant director of nursing. She was an active member of the St. Williams Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Kate (John) Goodhew of Alpharetta, GA; one son, Will (Allison) Begley of Harrodsburg; one brother, Mike (Carol) Morrissey of Roswell, GA; one sister, Pat Morrissey of Sarasota, FL and six grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 30 at St. Williams Catholic Church with Father Thobias, Father Danny and Monsignor Beiting officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorials are to be made to St. Williams Catholic Church Maintenance fund.

BERNICE CLARK
Bernice Ann Clark, 83, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 8, 1924 in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Carl F. and Lucy Harrell Simpson and was the widow of Edward Clark.
She was a homemaker, member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Larry Clark of Harrodsburg; four daughters, Rita Ashton, Frankie (Jerry) Huffman, Sue (Butch) Steele, all of Harrodsburg, and Linda Clark of Lexington; one brother, David (Betty) Simpson of Elizabethtown; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis (C. J.) Simpson and a sister Erma C. Simpson.
The funeral was Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in the Cornishville Christian Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were John “Scooter” Huffman, Chris Clark, Eddie Burton, David Dunning, Tanner Powell, and Eric Clarkson.

JAMES CREWS
James M. Crews, 53, of Salvisa, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 in LaGrange.
Born Dec. 29, 1953, he was the son of the late James Maurice and Mamie Wells Crews.
He was a farmer, a member of the National Rifle Association and the Kentucky Farm Bureau.
Survivors include: his fiancé, Carolyn Carrico of Washington County; and four cousins, Marvin Wells of Danville, cousin, Brenda Bedford of Charleston, SC, Dianne Wells, Regina Shely and Ruth Sudduth, all of Lawrenceburg.
The Funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Johnny Hockersmith officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tim Hutchens, William “Sonny” Taylor, Dale Noel, Thomas Chapman, Rusty Johnson and Charles Nichols.

Convicted Murderer, Crews Dies In Prison
The man convicted of shooting and killing Darren Maddox on Jan. 14, 2005 died Saturday at LaGrange and was buried yesterday, Wednesday, at Spring Hill Cemetery.
James "Jimmy" Crews, 53, of Salvisa was convicted in May of murdering Maddox, the 34-year-old night watchman at the Kentucky Burley Warehouse, and in June was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
During the trial and sentencing, Crews' attorney, Elmer George said his client was in poor health and he suffered from heart problems and diabetes. On the day of sentencing, Crews was brought into the courthouse in a makeshift wheelchair.
He apparently continued to battle health problems and had both legs amputated while in prison.
David "Sonny" Ransdell, Mercer County coroner and funeral director, confirmed the double limb amputation, but did not know the cause of death. He also confirmed that Crews had been in poor health.
A civil case filed by the Maddox family has still not reached conclusion. During the trial, Crews’ attorney cited Crews’ assets as several farms, guns, tobacco settlement, war bonds and tractors. George estimated Crews’ assets as $1.5 million.
Survivors include a fiancé, Carolyn Carrico of Washington County.
WILLIAM DEAN
William Robert Dean, 84, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 13, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charlie B. and Josephine Roberts Dean and was the husband of Nancy Dean.
He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Marines, a retired Veteran of the United States Navy, and a retired Corning Incorporated employee. He has been a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church since he was a child and served as a Deacon and was a member of the Service Men’s Sunday School Class. He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: mother-in-law, Ada Landon of Keyser of West Virginia; two sons, William R. (Denise) Dean, Jr. of Nicholasville and Charles F. (Michelle) Dean of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Linda (Steve) Bokros and Lois Ann (Mike) Cruce-Pasley, both of Nicholasville and Nancy Josephine Dean of Lexington; one brother, James F. (Kirki) Dean of Gallatin, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Harvey, Owen, Don, Paul, and Tommy Dean and one grandson, Joseph Bokros.
The funeral was held Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Mark Thompson officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Bokros, Eric Bokros, Tyler Dean, Mike Dean, Kelly Bugg and Larry Lance.
Honorary pallbearer was Joseph Daniel Bokros.

CARLOS DENNIS
Carlos Elwood Dennis, 81, husband of Ruby Smith Dennis, of Lexington, died Tuesday October 30, 2007.
A native of Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Brown and Viola Hurst Dennis.
He served in the US Army during World War II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Mark (Melinda) Dennis, Crestwood; Mike (Jodi) Dennis, Georgetown and Tim Dennis, Lexington; a sister, Beatrice Walters, Burgin; four grandchildren; Carly, Chad, Niki and Jordan Dennis and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Ryann Belle.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 3, at the W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland, Lexington, with interment in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Mike, Tim, Chad and Jordan Dennis and Tom Ballard with Bob Ballard as an honorary pallbearer.

ELEANOR JOHNSON
Eleanor Sue McCoy Johnson, 74, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Clarksville, IN.
Born August 29, 1933 in Joplin, MO, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Zoe Sweetland McCoy.
She was a former homemaker and enjoyed reading and loved to sing.
She is survived by: one daughter, Susan Marie (Rick) McChargue of Louisville; four sons, Floyd L. (Janet) Johnson, Sr. of Lawrenceburg, John Allen Johnson of Louisville, David Ryan Johnson of Louisville and Charles Robert (Cynthia Kay) Johnson of Mercer County; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Alice Coch of Louisville, Terry Perry of Lawrenceburg, Libby (Gary) Schwartz of Tampa, FL; and one brother, Charles Cecil (Carol) McCoy of Cincinnati.
Funeral service was held Saturday, October 27, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Glenn Corn officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

JAMES JOHNSON SR.
James E. Johnson Sr., 88, of Danville, husband of Opal Ford Johnson, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Lexington.
Born Sept., 14, 1919, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Wiley and Cleo Smith Johnson.
He was a self-employed plasterer, a World War II veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. He was employed by Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and Bank of Danville, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as superintendent of Sunday School, treasurer and deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: four daughters, Gloria Frye, Audrey Johnson and Vivian (Joe) Troxler, all of Danville, and Bonita (Art) Ramzy of Sacramento, CA; 10 sons, Lonnie (Sandra) Johnson, Rodney (Debbie) Johnson and Michael A. Johnson, all of Danville, James E. (Kay) Johnson Jr. of Campbellsville, Ernie Johnson, Timothy (Rose) Johnson and Corey (Tia) Johnson, all of Lexington, Darryl (Lisa) Johnson of Poughkeepsie, NY, Tyrone Johnson of San Diego, CA, and Dwight Johnson of Mason, OH; a sister, Margaret Gash of Harrodsburg; 37 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 29, at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets, Danville, with special friend, Pastor Emeritus Rev. Richard Hill Sr., officiating, assisted by Rev. Ronald McCowan. Burial was at Camp Nelson Cemetery.
