Christopher Dewayne Lewis, 11, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1996 in Lexington, he was the son of Bruce Phillips of Burgin and Crystal Lewis Gilbert and Clay Cocanougher of Harrodsburg.
Christopher was a fifth grader at Burgin Elementary School and was a member of the Shakertown Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: two brothers, Daniel Lewis and Eric Dale Gilbert; one sister, Chelsea Lewis, all of Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother Brenda Lewis of Harrodsburg; maternal grandparents Richard (Sue) Lewis of Burgin; paternal grandmother Shirleen Phillips of Burgin; maternal great-grandparents James and Myrtle Lewis of Harrodsburg; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents Homer and Mary Phillips and maternal great-grandmother Dorothy Poynter.
The Funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Joe Smith and Danny Broce officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Caton, Donny Judge, Evan Cocanougher, James Motley, Donnie Cocanougher, Gregory Devine, and Justin Lilly.
GENE MONROE
Gene Monroe, 62, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007.
He was the husband of Kathy Hill Monroe.
The Funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and before the service on Friday.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
DONNA MCGINNIS
Donna Watts McGinnis, 57, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 24, 1950 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Rose Harlow Watts of Harrodsburg and the late Lewis Watts.
She was a retired Maintenance Administrator for BellSouth in Louisville and was a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Eco Homemakers Club.
In addition to her mother, survivors include: one son, Franklin Shaun (Wendy) McGinnis of Mercer County; one daughter Sonya “Sissy” (Patrick) Brock of Mercer County; one brother, Gary (Joyce) Watts of Mercer County; one sister, Betty (Gerald) Carter of Franklin; four grandchildren, Shaunesy Brooke McGinnis, William Evan Likins, Bronson Douglas McGinnis, and Levi Thompson Brock., and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Geoff Barrett and Danny Sallee officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

RALPH PERKINS
Ralph Duane Perkins, 42, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1965 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Ralph and Betty Perkins of Harrodsburg.
He was an employee of Cecil Brothers and Yeager, a member of Pioneer Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was a 1984 graduate of Mercer County High School where he played basketball.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: one daughter, Maggie McClay Vandivier of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Jamie King (Rick) Pinkston and Dana Perkins (Louis) Simpson both of Lawrenceburg; two step-sisters, Donna Stafford of Danville and Lisa Sebastian of Lancaster; three nieces and one nephew, all of Lawrenceburg.
The Funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye officiating. Burial was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
Pall bearers were Daryl Russell, Donnie Hampton, Jimmy Cecil, Charlie Cecil, Jimmy “Yogi” Yeager and James Dean.
Honorary pallbearer was Wayne Holiday.
THURMAN PRESTON
Thurman L. Preston, 96, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born Aug. 15, 1911 in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Ollie and Etta Browning Preston and was the widower of Evelena Gains Preston.
He served during World War II in the Army, retired from Cudahay, and was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church. He was also a member to the Masonic Lodge 777F&AM.
Survivors include: three nieces, Leslie Gains Williams, Garnetta Loucks and Thelma Schmuckers; one nephew, Franklin Preston and several great nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and William Preston.
The funeral was held Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ralph Neal officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Baker Williams, Harold Lester, Roy Beasley, Scotty Anderson, Jeff Rhodes, Harold Hulett, Orland Webb and Gene Motley.
Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School Class.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Bible Fund.
ROBERT REIDER
Robert Mark Reider, 51, of Danville, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at his residence.
Born Oct. 10, 1956 in Berwick, PA, he was the son of Sally Bodemuller.
He was a laborer who loved to travel and loved animals, especially his cat Rasha.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: one step-father, Gary Bodemuller of Salvisa; one sister, Chris (Jerry) Michaleson of Nashville; three nephews, Jeremey Michaelson, Josh Michaelson, and Jacob Michaelson; one niece, Jill Michaelson; one great-nephew, Eric Michaelson and one great-niece, Rachel Michaelson.
Private services will be conducted at a later date.

EARL RUST
Earl H. Rust, 79, Harrodsburg, widower of Genevie Purvis Rust, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital, Cooper Drive.
Born in Lexington, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Emma Sheene Rust.
He was a retired construction worker, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a member of the Kentucky Rescue Association.
He is survived by: two sons, Johnny Rust, Harrodsburg, and Espie Traylor, Nicholasville; one daughter, Barbara Brown, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Frances Elsteen, Bradenton, FL, and Pearl Smarsh, Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 31, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, by Rev. Curtis Coots. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
CHESTER SCOTT
Chester Scott, 86, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 at his residence.
Born Sept. 25, 1921 at Shakertown, he was the son of the late William Chesley and Flora Mae Van Arsdall Scott and was the husband of Ludema George Scott.
He was a retired Prudential Insurance Agent and a Army Air Corps Bombardier Veteran of WWII.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where he had served as a Senior Adult Leader and Adult Men Sunday School Teacher. He was also a charter member of the VFW, and had served as the Volunteer Chaplain for the Harrodsburg Fire Department for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: a sister-in-law, Annell Scott of Harrodsburg; one niece, Patricia (Eddie) Mayes; one nephew, Roy Gordon (Kathy) Scott, Jr.; a special cousin, Eddie (Alice) Sherrow; several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Gordon Scott, Sr..
The funeral was held Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor and Rick Clark. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Rites.
Pallbearers were David Phelps, Bill Watts, Harry Wiley, Calvin Shewmaker, Bill Hendren, and Jim Beck.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faith, Hope & Love Sunday School Class and the Harrodsburg Fire Department.
MILDRED SHARP
Mildred Lee Sharp, age 66, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.
She was the daughter of the late Melvin Thomas and Anna Kerfees Nevins Sharp. She was a housekeeper; a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church; and a 1959 graduate of Mercer County High School.
She is survived by special cousins, Jean (Leon) Stratton, Lawrenceburg, Shirley (Roger) Middleton, Bradfordsville, Jimmy (Betty) Cunningham, and Connie (Beverly) Cunningham, Lawrenceburg, and several other cousins.
Graveside services were held Friday, October 26, at Providence Cemetery in Mercer County with Bro. John Hockersmith officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg was in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH WHITE
Kenneth J. White, 73, of Lexington, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007.
Born in Mercer County, he was the son of John and Hazel Yeast White and the husband of Sue White.
He was a retired employee of IBM, a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Susan (Mitch) Glenn of Lexington; two sons, Stephen (Kathy) White of Valdosta, GA and Patrick (Mary) White of Georgetown; one brother, Norman White of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, Stacy, Hillary, Justin, Stephanie, Victoria and Ashley.
The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 29 at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland with entombment in Lexington Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are to be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Zenah Tater III served as Bugler.

CARLOS DENNIS
Carlos Elwood Dennis, 81, of Lexington, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007.
Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Brown and Viola Hurst Dennis and was the husband of Ruby Smith Dennis.
He served in the US Army during World War II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, Mark (Melinda) Dennis, of Crestwood; Mike (Jodi) Dennis, of Georgetown and Tim Dennis, of Lexington; one sister, Beatrice Walters, of Burgin; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 3 at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Mark, Mike, Tim, Chad and Jordan Dennis and Tom Ballard.
Honorary pallbearer was Bob Ballard.

CLAUDE DENNY
Claude Thomas Denny, 71, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 14, 1936 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Claude Franklin and Ruth (Rose) Denny and was the widower of Marilyn McGlone Denny.
He was a Marine serving during the Korean War. He was a retired supervisor for the Department of Human Resources and a member of the St Andrew Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge # 777 F&AM, the Oleika Shrine, the American Legion Post # 46, and was the Commandant of the Marine Corp League (1994 & 1995).
Survivors include: one sister, Cora Lee Wilson of Louisville; two brothers, Fred Denny of New Castle, IN and Leroy Denny of Floyd Knobs, IN and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 5 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fathers Frank Osburg, Joseph Muench and Danny Schwendeman officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Dale Heise, Bobby Riester, Doc McKinney, Kevin Horn, Jesse Gilpin and Bill Huff.
LUTHER JONES
Luther Jones, 83, of Danville, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born March 7, 1924 in Burgin, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Lucy (Hardin) Jones and was the widower of Dorothy Jones.
He was retired from General Electric in Cincinnati, OH.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara Hendry of St. John’s, MI and one son, Bill Jones of Hamilton, OH.
The funeral was held Wednesday Nov. 7 at the Burgin Memorial Garden with Odis Clark officiating.
LEON KEELING
Leon Keeling, 89, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at his home.
Born Oct. 4, 1918 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Ruel and Elsie Jewell Shewmaker Keeling and was the husband of Imogene Buster Keeling.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where he served as deacon, elder, board chairman and Sunday School teacher. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) and for more than fifty years, worked for The Harrodsburg Herald as advertising salesman, reporter, photographer, columnist and news editor.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Carole Ann (Elmer) Congleton of Nicholasville and Donna Jean (Dave) Butler of Berea and two grandchildren, Brittney Congleton of Lexington and Jana Congleton of Nicholasville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Morrison Keeling of Louisville and Lynn Keeling of Springfield.
The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Williams and Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Sharp, Chris Searcy, Larry Royalty, Tom Devine, Danny Chilton, and Bobby Trisler.
Honorary pallbearers were the employees of The Herald.
