MABEL CLEMENTS

Mabel Clements, 68, of Danville, died Thursday, Jnuary 19, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born January 5, 1938, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Jackie and Myrtie Richardson Dalton. She was the widow of James Donald Clements.

She worked at Plastic Molding and was a member of Willow Springs United Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Shelia Blackburn, Danville, Vickie Brockman, Liberty, and Dawn Myers, Harrodsburg; one brother, Sherwood Dalton, Danville; one sister, Rosemary Underwood, Danville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 23, at Bartle Funeral Home, Lierty, by Rev. Otis York and Rev. Creech Richardson. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terrell, Danny and Randy Dalton, Robert and Roger Foster and Darrell Underwood.

Honorary bearers will be Marcus D. Foster, and Gerald, Michael, David, Larry and Gary Dalton.

Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday.

MARY CORNISH
Mary Lee Cornish, 42, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at her home.

Born Dec. 28, 1963 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Nancy Phillips Cornish of Harrodsburg and the late Billy Marshall Cornish.

She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: two sisters, Barbara (Donnie) Mobley and Marsha (Jeff) Gullett, both of Harrodsburg, and one niece, Callie Brooke.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ryan Coatney, Leigh G. Lance and Bobby Logue officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom Dick Phillips, Chuck Phillips, David Phillips, Jeff Gullett, Bubby Isham, Ralph Phillips, David Taylor and Ross Phillips.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Mercer Relay For Life.

GREGORY HAHN
Gregory Thomas Hahn, 39, of Lexington, formerly of Mercer County, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006.

He was the son of Robert and JoAnn Hahn of Lexington.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: one son, Nicholas T. Hahn of Carey, NC; one daughter, Whitney A. Hahn of Carey, NC; one sister, Julie H. Schmidt of Anchorage; one brother, Robert A. Hahn Jr. of Saigon, Vietnam, and one maternal grandmother, Marjorie Bridwell of Greenwood, IN.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Pastors Steve Gehring and Doug Hahn officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Pallbearers will be Hal Johnson, Jeff Serber, Ben Schmidt, Jeff Robertson, Bill Rigsby, Boo Kemper, Blake Dotson and Lynn Ellis.

GRACE LOGSTON
Grace Grigsby Logston, 69, of Weaverville, NC, formerly of Danville, died Jan. 12, 2006 in North Carolina.

Born April 18, 1936 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace Grigsby.

Survivors include: three brothers, Bob Grigsby of Harrodsburg, Buddy Grigsby of South Carolina and David Grigsby of Missouri; two sisters, Dottie Vaught of Harrodsburg and Glenn Ellen Frederick of Flemingsburg; two daughters, two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five siblings.

Funeral services were held Jan. 16 in Weaverville, NC. West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH MARTIN
Kenneth Franklin Martin, 67, of Bellows Mill Road, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at his home.

Born September 20, 1938 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late James “Judge” and Nancy Anness Martin and the husband of Norma Young Martin.

He was a retired Corning Glass employee and a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Frank (Becky) Martin of Harrods-burg; two sisters, Virginia (Charlie) Jones of Georgetown and Thelma McDonald of Harrodsburg; several nieces and nephews, and a constant companion, Chaz.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lewis Walter, Geoff Barrett, Larry Camic and Harold Best officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bronson Yeast, J.W. Mattingly, Gene Votaw, Leo Bailey, Donnie Tyler, Tom Capek, Tommy Bradley, Terry Myers, Jerry Lane and Frank Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad and Tim Ellis, Brian Sears, Tina Murphy, Linda Greene, Kathy Royalty, Charlie Jones, Kendall Ross, Bobby Young, Bronda Yeast, Carl Clark, Mike Thompson, Greg Winburn, Mike VanDiver, Kim Smith, Danielle Sheperson, Margaret Anness, Stephanie Rawlings, Steve and Jackie Mattingly, Chris, Kevin and Harold Wayne Chilton, Terry Sears, Carol Richardson and Dr. Mohammed Shahzad.

Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

WALTER MEYER
Walter E. Meyer, 85, of Henrico Road, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at his home.

Born July 16, 1920 in Troy, OH, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Mathilda Sherman Meyer and the widower of Doris Mercer Meyer.

He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a retired production supervisor for Hobart Corporation in Troy, OH and a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church. He also was a member of The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janet M. Pyle of Harrodsburg; two grandsons, Brian and Chris Pyle, both of Harrodsburg, and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Zach Pyle.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Harrodsburg with Father Joseph Muench officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers were Brian and Chris Pyle, Dr. Robert Hoyng, Kinnard Preston, Mike Hale and Ezra Tatum.

JANE REILLY

Jane Elizabeth Foote Reilly, 83, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Lexington, widow of Richard David Reilly, died Sunday, January 22, 2006.

Born in Duluth, MN, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Jane Sargent Foote.

She was a retired head nurse at the University of Kentucky Medical Center Emergency Room and later served as head of Student Health Services at UK. She attended Blue Grass Pike Baptist Church in Danville and had attended Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church and Southern Acres Christian Church in Lexington.

A member of the Women's Club, she had served as the Past Governor of the 6th District of the KY Federation of Women's Clubs (KFWC), Past Pres. of Suburban Women's Club, 3rd and 1st VP of KFWC as well as the Pres. of the KFWC. She was Pres. of the YWCA of Greater Lexington, achieving Woman of the Year honors. She was nurse in the US Navy, serving in World War II and retiring as a Lt. Commander, was a KY Colonel and was instrumental in the Women's Monument at the WW II Memorial in Washington.

Survivors include: one son, David R. (Becky) Reilly, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Barbara R. Isley, Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Timothy Douglas Isley, Lexington, Gregory Todd Reilly (Heather Owens) and Richard David Reilly II both of Harrodsburg; one great-grandchild, two nephews and three grand nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 25 at the W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland conducted by Pastor John Seay. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Jessamine County.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Douglas Isley, Gregory Todd Reilly, Richard David Reilly II, Jack Reilly, Dann Reilly, Mariques Brown, Keith Brown and Joe Todd Hall.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday

Contributions may be made to the Women in Military Service for America, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA 22211.

DOROTHY REYNOLDS

Dorothy Reynolds, 96, of Lebanon, died Friday, January 20, 2006.

Survivors include: one daughter, Wilma Curry, Harrodsburg; one son, William R. (Billy) Reynolds, Gravel Switch.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Bosley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be after 4:30 pm. Tuesday.

ELLA SLONE
Ella Mae Slone, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born April 8, 1916 in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Beatley Spaulding and the widow of John Slone.

She was a member of the Hill Crest Baptist Church in Lexington.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sara Blakeman of Lexington; three grandsons, Dan and Todd Blakeman of Lexington and Michael Lowery of Jeffersonville, IN; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 23 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Bro. Lewis Walters officiating.

Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MARY WOODALL

Mary Hill Woodall, 83, of Portman Avenue, Stanford died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.

Born November 27, 1922, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Pence Hill. She was the widow of Robert E. Woodall.

She was a homemaker, accountant and member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church and attended Hebron Lakeside Church.

Survivors include: two nephews, John Baughman, Harrodsburg and William P. Cox, Lexington; two nieces, Georgia L. Hocker, Irvin, TX, and Kitty Bruce Brower, Lancaster; 10 great-nephews; and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by two children, Robert Woodall Jr. and Margaret Woodall.

Services were held Sunday, January 22, at the Hebron Lakeside Church by Rev. Pete Gilliam. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Baughman IV, Thomas, Robert, and William Baughman, George Hocker, William Cox Jr. and George Cox.

Memorials may go to Hebron Lakeside Church Building Fund, Lincoln County Educational Fund or the Lincoln County Ministerial Association.

Fox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

EDGAR BAKER

Edgar Wilson Baker, 89, of 272 Calvary Rd., died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at his home.

Born Sept. 4, 1916 in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Lindsay Thomas and Anna Downey Baker and the husband of Mary Connie Whitenack Baker.

He was an Army veteran of WW II and the Korean war and was a retired foreman at Green River Steel in Owensboro.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Edgar Baker Jr. of Harrodsburg and Lynn Baker of Nashville, TN; one brother, James Baker of Lexington; two step-sons, Greg and Charles Whitenack, and six step-daughters, Angel, Trisha, Mary Beth, Cynthia Rose and Georgetta Whitenack and Lisa Lake.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Glenn Baker.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Father Joseph Muench officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery in Frankfort.

FRANCES BROWN

Frances Renfro Brown, 84, 37 year resident of Savannah, GA, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Candler Hospital, following cancer surgery.

Born Aug. 22, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John W. Renfro and Betty B. Renfro.

She attended public schools and the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. While an undergraduate at KY, she became a life member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and participated in the University of Kentucky's Women's Chorale. In addition to continuing her singing, she was a model in her younger years, a mother and homemaker, an active participant in her husband's long Air Force career and a substitute teacher in the Fairfax, VA School System during a Pentagon posting. Her hobbies and interests included gardening and extensive travel with her husband to Military Reunions in their retirement years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Colonel Newton E. Brown, USAF (retired); three daughters, Betty B. Mauldin and Teresa Lovell, both of Savannah, GA, and Christina B. Emerick, Severna Park, MD; one brother, John W. Renfro and Thelma R. Head, residents of Lexington and Shelbyville, KY respectively; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Friday, January 27 in the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home in Savannah, GA. Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lewis Cancer Care and Research Pavilion at Candler/St. Joseph's Hospital, 225 Candler Drive, Savannah, GA 31405.

MAURICE CARPENTER
Maurice P. Carpenter, 87, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at his home.

Born in Perryville, he was the son of the late Elmer Lee and Amanda Ellen Foster Carpenter and the husband of Helen Lester Carpenter

He was a graduate of Rose Hill High School in Mercer County and the University of Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as 1st Lieutenant with the 1st Armored Division in Italy and North Africa. He was retired after 31 years of service with the state government in the Department of Revenue. Maurice was appointed Commissioner of Revenue under Gov. Wendell Ford in 1974 and served 5 years under Gov. Julian Carroll.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Emily Watts Carpenter (Lawrence) Piercy; one son, Cecil Douglas (Mona Lunceford) Carpenter; four grandsons, Justin Maurice and Adam Lawrence Piercy, and David Malcolm and Jacob Cecil Carpenter; one sister, Evelyn Carpenter Warner of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Allen, Cecil, and Frank Carpenter and his twin brother, Marshall Carpenter, and three sisters, Valley Carpenter MeGee, Beatrice Carpenter Shuel and Amanda Belle Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington with Bro. John Hockersmith officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.

Pallbearers will be Justin and Adam Piercy, David and Jacob Carpenter, Richard Carpenter and Robert Todd Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Kring, Paul McNees, Tarlton Rogers, Ron Murphy, Leon Vaughn and Pat Tackett.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.

DAISY CLARK
Daisy Marcum Clark, 80, formerly of Mooreland Avenue, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Jan. 18, 1926 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Ollie Doyle Allen and the widow of Asher Marcum and Francis Clark.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Mayo Christian Church and she enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include: one son, Cecil Carson Marcum of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Theresa Ann (David) Sparks and Lorraine (Larry M.) Baker, both of Lexington, and Judy (William Frank) Giles of Stamping Ground; one brother, Preston Allen of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Bessie Allen of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter whom she raised, Mary Carr of Lexington; fourteen other grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Russell Marcum.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Terry Morrison and Larry Peyton officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Broce Jr., Steve Broce, Mary Carr, John Broce, Michael Gullett, Russell Lynn Marcum and Daisy Bradshaw.

Visitation will be today, Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m. and after 7 a.m. Friday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
