Jessie Ray Tingle, 66, of Main Street, Willisburg, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at his residence after a long illness.
A native of Washington County, he was born April 4, 1939 to the late Jessie B. and Gillie Ann Sagracy Tingle.
He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer.
Preceding him in death were a son, Joe Allen Tingle on January 1, 1992; a daughter, Mary Jean Tingle in June of 1997; a great-granddaughter, Elissa VanArsdall; a twin sister, Gillie Mae Tingle; and a brother, Joseph Lee Tingle.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Oder Tingle; two sons, Danny Ray Tingle and Ronald Dale Tingle, all of Willisburg; three daughters, Debbie Lanham of Springfield, Beverly Spalding and Samantha Kelly Tingle, both of Willisburg; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tommy Tingle of Elizabethtown, Richard Tingle of Cornishville and Charles Tingle of Mercer County; four sisters, Martha Nally of Bardstown, Dorothy Perkins of Cornishville, Elizabeth Sanders of Willisburg and Martha Marie Willard of Gravel Switch.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 19 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Chesser, pastor of Rockbridge Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren: Ashley Spalding, Jessica Spalding, Kelley Spalding, Carol Sue Tharp, Jennifer Lanham, Jesse Lanham and Pam Warren and the great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were a son, Danny Ray Tingle; and grandsons, Steven Dewayne Tingle, Wesley Dale Tingle, Joshua Ray Tingle, Joe Allen Tingle and Larry Lanham Jr.
WAYNE WHITTAKER
Garnett "Wayne" Whittaker, 63, of Cornishville Road, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 at his home.
Born July 10, 1942 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Garnett and Mary Frances Gayheart Whittaker and the husband of Lola Helen Johnson Whittaker.
He was the owner/operator of Wayne's Trucking.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Anita (James) Hubbard of Boyle County; two sons, Jesse (Daphne) Whittaker of Versailles and Billy (Lois) Whittaker of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Wanda (Steve) Crane, Etta (Fred) Bugg and Shirley (Billy) Taylor, all of Mercer County, and Gayle (J.W.) Fister of Lexington; one brother, Dan (Kathy) Whittaker of Harrodsburg; two step-sons, Jeff and Joe Lanham of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jackie Whittaker, and a step-son, James Lanham.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Keller, Tim Darland, Randy Coleman, Ronnie Sims, Mike Tarter and David Vinyard.
Honorary pallbearers were Sac Hume, Eddie Goodlett, Lee Howard Releford, Devon Coleman, Rick Burns, Harold Goodlett and Phillip Zabala.

DENVER WILSON
Lewis "Denver" Wilson, 78, of Beaumont Avenue, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 14, 1927 in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Paul Gordon and Ruth Broaddus Wilson and the widower of Irene Dean Wilson.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired executive vice president of Broaddus, Inc. and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church. He also served on the board of the Harrodsburg Housing Authority, was a former member of the Harrodsburg Board of Education, was former chairman of the Mercer County Republican Party, past director of the Mercer Federal Savings and Loan and was past president of the Harrodsburg Lions Club.
Survivors include: one son, Paul Gordon (Susan) Wilson of Burns, TN; one sister, Mary Frances Eads of Garrard County, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 20 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Kevin Wilson, Gavin Wilson, James Eads, Glenn Dean, Greg Long and Barry Kessler.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ernest Estridge, Dr. Charles Hatcher, Joe Dean, Vilas Graham, Bill Lester, Harold Lester, Leon Keeling, Frank Lawson, Danny Chilton, Delbert Ball and Hubert "Buddy" Ford.

Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Post #54 conducted Military Rites for L. Denver Wilson at Spring Hill Cemetery Feb. 20, 2006.
Those attending were Curtis and Earl Sherrow, Tom Rappelye, Tom Denny, Joe Harlow, Floyd Shirley, Lucian Landers and Howard H. Howells Sr.
Bugler was David Best.
Navy representatives from Lexington were Petty Officers First Class E. L. Sayre, Robert Phillips and Bill Dye.
CHARLES BLACKETER
Charles Eugene Blacketer, age 78, of Greenview Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Friday, February 24, 2006 at his residence. He was the son of the late Hattie Shewmaker and Elmer Blacketer.
He was born November 8, 1927 in Washington County.
He was a retired meat department manager for the former A&P, Pic Pac, and Slones Markets in Lawrenceburg. He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was a member of the Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church and the Fishers of Men Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge #90 and the V.F.W. Franklin County Post #4075.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Jackson Blacketer; a son, Mike (Linda) Blacketer, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Becky Dotson, Teresa (Mac) McIntosh, all of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, Angie Carpenter, William Goodlett, and Charlie Blacketer, all of Lawrenceburg; six great grandchildren; 10 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Eaton, Rev. Charles Brumley officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 pm Saturday and after 8 am Sunday at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held at 7:30 pm Saturday evening.

JOE BRUMFIELD SR.
Joe Harvey Brumfield Sr., 86, of Lexington, died Friday, February 24, 2006 in Danville.
Born Sept. 30, 1919, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Asa J. and Elizabeth A. Wickline Brumfield.
He was a retired Chrysler/Plymouth dealer, merchant, farmer, private pilot, 50-year Mason and member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Lancaster.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn A. Brumfield; two sons, Harvey (Margie) Brumfield, Garrard County, and Barry (Mary) Brumfield, Mercer County; two daughters, April (John) Crawford, Madison County, and Gayle (Phillip) Banta, Jessamine County.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Silas J. Brumfield.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington, by Rev. David Shoot. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy and Mark Brumfield, Ken Keltner, John Rogers, and Jayson and Brandon Crenshaw.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brian Ellis and staff of Charleston Health Care Center.

MARSHALL BUGG
Marshall C. Bugg, 76, of Onset, MA, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Opal Burns Bugg Claunch of Burgin and the late Dan Bugg, and he was the widower of Mary A. Winters Bugg.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years retiring as a chief jet mechanic. He also served as a Navy recruiter and worked as a police officer. He was the owner of the Gateway Arms in Wareham, a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Wareham Lodge of Elks #1548 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Feehan Council 2911 in Buzzards Bay. He was a member and past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Association.
Survivors include: three sons, Kyle Bugg of Mashpee, MA, Kevin (Christine) Bugg of Wareham, MA, and Keith (Jennifer) Bugg of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Kathy Bither of Onset, MA, and Karen McDougal of Wareham, MA; two brothers, Donald Bugg and Glen Bugg, both of Kentucky; three sisters, Dorothy Noel, Inez Russell and Jane Jackson all of Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Milburn.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 3 at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham. Burial will follow in the V.A. Mass National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.

PRESTON BURGIN
Preston Case Burgin, 81, of Harrodsburg, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.
Born March 5, 1924 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Tyler P. and Frances T. Case Burgin and the widower of Doris Ransdell Burgin.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a retired heavy equipment operator for Kentucky Utilities. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Light and Lively, the VFW, American Legion, North Mercer Concerned Citizens and was a 4-H Leader.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joy (Joe) Stevens of Harrodsburg; one step-son, James Davis Lawson of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Maurice Ritter of Louisville and Garnett Gibson of Lawrenceburg; a special companion, Virginia Gray of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Ann-Margret Perkins, Chris Bentley, Cathy Schooler and Lisa Swick; two step-grandchildren, Michael Lawson and Bradi York; eight great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Burgin, and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 27 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dann Masden officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Bentley, Kevin Perkins, Jonny Schooler, Joe Stevens, Carroll Gibson, Russell Harrod and Jeff Harrod.

LEO CAMPBELL
Leo Morris Campbell, 80, of Salvisa, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 at his home.
Born Sept. 20, 1925 in Whitley County, he was the son of the late Bill and Carrie Perkins Campbell and the husband of Marie Godbey Campbell.
He was a Shawnee Farm worker for 53 years, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, David Lee (Martha) Campbell of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Frances Campbell of Salvisa; two brothers, Gorman Campbell of Harrodsburg and Arlis Campbell of Williamsburg; one granddaughter, one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald B. Campbell; two brothers, James Robert Campbell and Arnold Cecil Campbell, and two sisters, Mildred Phillips and Dorothy Murphy.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 27 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Burkhead officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military rites.

ANNETTE COAKLEY
Annette B. Coakley, 52, of Lexington, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Sept. 8, 1953 in Hiedelberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Pauline Moore Handy of Lexington and the late Eben N. Handy Jr.
She was an engineer for Bellsouth and AT&T and was an engineering consultant. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Sharon R. Handy of Louisville; one brother, Stephen W. (Deborah) Handy of Lexington; one niece, Whitney D. Handy, and two nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Handy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joe Tarry officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
DENVER DILLINGHAM
Denver "Bob" Dillingham, 68, Woodford County Farmer, died Monday, February 27, 2006 after a long illness.
He was born in Liberty, KY on February 6, 1938.
He farmed for over 46 years in Woodford, Jessamine, and Fayette counties and was a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Church in Lexington.
Survivors include: his wife, Deborah Dillingham; four daughters, Darlene Dillingham, Gail Popovitz, Gayla Smith, Bobbie Jo Dillingham; and one son, Kendall Smith, all of Versailles. Also surviving are several grandchildren, including Tommy Reynolds of Harrodsburg; and great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Harris, Mary Lee Wilson, Helen Passmore, Lily Wesley, all of Liberty, and two brothers, Junior Long, Liberty, and Larry Long, Versailles.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Wanda Pettyjohn Dillingham, his mother, Dora Passmore, and a brother, J. C. Long.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2 at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Verailles with Pastor Glynn Doss officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

MINNIE DIVINE
Minnie Belle Taylor Divine, 68, of Danville, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born July 30, 1937, in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Jeanetta Taylor.
She was retired from Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. She attended First Baptist Church and was organist at First Baptist Church in Danville and Harrodsburg. She also was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Cincinnati and Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington. She was a graduate of Westside High School in Harrodsburg and attended Kentucky State University.
Survivors include: three sons, Gary Johnson, Danville, Greg Hannibal, Toledo, OH, and Gerald Hannibal of Clinton, TN; one brother, Albert L. Taylor, Danville; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 27, at First Baptist Church by Ronald McCowan and Daniel R. Childs Sr. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Albert Hawkins, Kevin Napier, Keith Lewis, Ronnie McAdoo, Alonzo McGuire and Norman Bartleson. Honorary bearers will be George Yeast, Derrick Houston, Eric Wofford, Jimmy Brown and Ricky Jones.

LAVERNE GORDON
Laverne Settles Gordon, 76, formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 at the Parkway Medical Center in Louisville.
Born Oct. 26, 1929 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Allen and Mayme Darland Settles and the widow of Bobby V. Gordon.
She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, Dale (Lynn) Gordon of Louisville; three sisters, Delilah Belcher of Sarasota, FL, Nancy Gabhart of Mackville and Janice Stine of Springfield; seven brothers, J.D. Settles of Willisburg, Larry Settles of Calvary, and Samuel, Murriel, Everett, Elbert and Joe Settles, all of Springfield; one grandson, two step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Troy Gordon and Terry Lynn Gordon; one sister, Mildred Settles, and one brother, Roy Kenneth Settles, who preceded her in death by four days.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Brian Gordon and Joe Settles officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.
Pallbearers were James A. Stine, Joey Settles, Steve Settles, Randy and Doug Gabhart and Len Settles. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Settles and Jimmie Settles.
