Lee J. “Duke” Coleman Jr., 84, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Lee J. and Ethel Ensminger Coleman and the widower of Bettye Walker Coleman.
He was a retired salesman for Southern Supply and a member of the Hunter Presbyterian Church. He attended Sewanee University of the South, was an avid golfer, a former Lion’s Club member and a former Kentucky high school basketball and football referee.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandy (Dan) Riley of Bowling Green; one son, Lee James “Butch” (Marsha) Coleman III of Ravenna; three grandchildren; Tricia Riley Mancini of Rapid City, SD, Shaun Riley of Bowling Green and Chea Coleman Kelley of Richmond, and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8 at the W.R. Milward Mortuary - Southland in Lexington with the Rev. Gary Brooks officiating. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Jessamine County.
Honorary pallbearers were Rue Wallace, Gordon Owen and Jerald Rose.
MARLENE EARLY
Marlene Early, 64, of Lexington, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1941 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late G. C. and Shannon Wilson Farney and the widow of Howard Lee Early.
She was retired from Torbitt and Castleman where she worked as a customer service manager. She was a member of Gardenside Christian Church and a former member of the Covenant United Methodist Church in LaGrange.
Survivors include: two sons, Brian Early and Christopher Early; one daughter, Lisa (John) Cromwell; four sisters, Virginia Lou Camic, Patsy (Don) Harshbarger, Rose (Bud) Brogli and Verna (Tom) Devine, and three grandchildren, Sloan, Beckett and William Cromwell.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Roma Jean Reed.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8 at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

BRUCE GOODLETT
Bruce Shelby Goodlett, 67, of Kirkwood Road, Mercer County, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at his home.
Born April 11, 1938 in Salvisa, he was the son of the late H. C. and Ruby Nichols Goodlett.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member and deacon of the Kirkwood Baptist Church, and a former member and past president of the Salvisa Ruritan Club where he served as the Salvisa Christmas Parade chairman for several years.
He was a 36-year member of the Oleika Shrine in Lexington, a member, secretary and treasurer of the Wilderness Shrine Club, a member of the York Rite, and a member of the St. John’s Masonic Lodge #125. He was a retired IBM employee, a member of the National Auctioneer’s Association, and a member of the Kentucky Auctioneer’s Association where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a licensed real estate broker and auctioneer for Sims Auction and Realty Company for many years and was associated with Parks Funeral Home for a number of years.
Survivors include: three sisters, Roberta (Joe) Stamper of Owenton, Aileen (Claude) Clark of Louisville and Lucille (Larry) Morris of Harrodsburg, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James L. Goodlett.
Masonic services were held Saturday, April 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 9 at the Kirkwood Baptist Church with Bro. Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial was in the Kirkwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gene Lawson, Daniel D. Stewart III, Bill Brinkley, Bob Trisler, Jimmy Sexton, Billy Chilton, Bobby Thompson and Dr. Ernest G. Estridge.

JERRY HIGGINBOTHAM
Jerry Higginbotham, 62, of Inman Street, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1943 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Carl and Julia Ross Higginbotham and the husband of Donna Thompson Higginbotham.
He was a retired machinist for Universal Fasteners and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ. He was a member of the National Rifleman’s Association, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting coins and knives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Tammy Higginbotham Nichols of Danville and Carla Higginbotham of Lancaster; one brother, Michael Higginbotham of Harrodsburg, and two grandchildren, Nathan and Kirsten Nichols.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Higginbotham, Kevin Higginbotham, Paul Harley, Eric Harley, Steve Lyons and Lee Thompson.

DAVID RYAN SR.
David Lyle Ryan Sr., 48, of Stanford, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at his home.
Born June 17, 1957 in Woodford County, he was the son of Jack Ryan Jr. and the late Mary Eudena Brown Ryan and the husband of Helen Cornett Ryan.
He was a truck driver for Fred Cain Farm Equipment and a member of the Danville Church of God.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Shelby Jean (William Henry) Corey of Gravel Switch; three sons, David Lyle (Melissa Dawn) Ryan Jr. of Danville, and Daniel Lyle Ryan and Alex Nathaniel Ryan, both of Stanford; four brothers, Norman (Norma) Ryan and Gary (Pam) Ryan, both of Harrodsburg, Ricky Ryan of Burgin and Timmy (Dolly) Ryan of Stanford; two sisters, Darlene (Roy) Watts of Salvisa and Sharon (Bill) Price of Danville; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11 at the Danville Church of God with the Rev. Andy Turner officiating. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg.

BEVERLY ANGLIN
Beverly Diana Anglin, 60, Salvisa, formerly of Waco, wife of Lloyd Anglin died Saturday April 8, 2006 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Dayton, OH to her parents Carmon Todd and the late Norma Todd.
She was retired from Gibson (American) Greetings in Berea and also a member of the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church.
Other than her husband and father, survivors include: three daughters, Trisha Ann (Mark) Parsons, Mt Vernon, Melinda Sue (Eddie) Lawrence, Richmond, Angela Diane (Scott) Adams, Brodhead; three brothers, Wayland (Pan) Todd, Tampa, FL, Dean (Diane) Todd, Carlisle, OH, Richard (Jeanne) Todd, Germantown, OH; three sisters, Brenda (Jim) Short, Muncie, IN, Devanda (Bill) Denison, Carlisle, OH, Loma (Terrill) Gevedon, Camden, OH; seven grandchildren, Mark Edward Parsons, Krystal Lynn Parsons, Tyler Lloyd Parsons, Stephanie Elise Lawrence, Stacie Elaine Lawrence, Charity Brooke Adams and Destiny Hope Adams.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Coleman and Sharon Kay Todd.
Services were held Tuesday April 11, at the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church with Rev. Randall Adams officiating. Burial was in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

GERALD BELCHER
Gerald Belcher, 58, of Stanford, He died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at his home.
Born March 27, 1948, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David and Vena Wilmot Belcher.
He was a production assistant manager at Hitachi Automotive in Harrodsburg for 19 years. He was a member of Church of Christ and a 1966 graduate of Crab Orchard High School.
Survivors include: his wife, Sue Playforth Belcher; two daughters, Melanie Warren, Lancaster, and Nicole Jenkins, Hustonville; five brothers, Earl Belcher, Harrodsburg, Don Belcher and George Belcher, both of Crab Orchard, Jim Belcher, Lancaster, and Bobby Belcher, Vacaville, CA; four sisters, Roberta Singleton and Beulah Pearce, both of West Chester, OH, Virginia Harness and Mary Jane Belcher, both of Crab Orchard; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford, by Frank Cleaver and Harold Harness. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Belcher, David Harnes, Shawn Pearce, Tyler Belcher, Darrick Barnett, Derek Goodman, Todd Salyers and Andrew Woodall.

Lottie Mae Hall, 66, of Short Road, Salvisa, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2190 Curdsville Road in Mercer County.
Born May 13, 1939, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Walter T. and Minnie Whitis Brown.
She was a homemaker and attended Baptist churches in the area. She was the widow of Harold Wayne Hall.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tammy Elkins, Kalispell, MT; two sons, Harold L. Hall of Billings, MT, and Kenneth L. Hall of Deer Lodge, MT.; two sisters, Mary B. Randolph, Fairfield, OH, and Ethel Knight, Salvisa; two brothers, Roscoe Brown, Salvisa, and Virgil Brown, London; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in LIberty by Gary Story. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday.
HERSHEL LAWSON
Hershel Ray Lawson, 86, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Casey County, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born November 30, 1919, in Elmwood, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harrison and Bertha Helm Lawson.
He was a former employee of Brown and Williamson Co., a World War II Army veteran, a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the widower of Opal Overstreet Lawson.
Survivors include: four sons, Lewis Lawson, Salvisa, Bobby Lewis, Harrodsburg, Carlos Lawson, Taylorsville and Wesley Lawson, Nicholasville; one daughter, Ruth Hollon, Winchester; two sisters, Mossie Fredrickson, Lexington and Faye Grider, Liberty; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beulah Armstrong.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Ed Parton. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military rites by Casey County Funeral Squad.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
RODNEY PARKS
Rodney Keith Parks, 35, of Radcliff, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1970 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Charles Parks Jr. and his wife Robin of Danville and Marlene Gerton and her husband Paul of Elizabethtown.
He was a 1988 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a former employee of Matsushita in Danville and a former employee of the Bob McQuerry Stables in Harrodsburg. He was a member of the Emory Chapel AME in Elizabethtown where he sang in "The Mighty Men Choir." In addition to his parents, survivors include: one brother, James Taylor of Junction City; two sisters, Affica (Eric) Garnett of Louisville and Katlyn Parks of Danville; grandparents, Charles and Christine Parks Sr. of Harrodsburg; two aunts, Paula Mays and Donna Johnson, both of Harrodsburg; three uncles, Paul Parks and Ricky Jones, both of Harrodsburg, and Jimmy Parks of Danville; one niece and nephew, and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Helen Cheanault.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 17 at the Centennial Baptist Church with Elder J.D. Short III officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Sarah Margaret Cotton Phelps, 95, widow of Arvil Phelps, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Georgetown.
Born March 6, 1911 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Rebecca Atwood Cotton.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Survivors include: five daughters, Christine Sharp, Geraldine White, both of Georgetown, Rose Walton, Versailles, and Julie Ballard, Dayton, OH and Mary Elizabeth Robinson; four sons, Arvil Phelps Jr., Robert Phelps, both of Versailles, Ray Phelps, OK, and James Phelps of Harrodsburg; 35 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several fifth generation grandchildren.
A sister, Olia Cotton, a daughter, Evelyn Taylor, and a son Phillip Phelps preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Phelps, Ricky Canafax, Tommy Walton, Robert Taylor, David Phelps, and Robert Whayne. Honorary pallbearer will be James Phelps.

BETTY POWELL
Betty Marcelle Householder Powell, 85, of Shakertown Road, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at her home.
Born February 16, 1921, in Harriman, TN, she was the daughter of the late Hubert L. and Dillie Mae Creekmore Householder.
She was a homemaker, a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and a 1938 graduate of Danville High School. She was the widow of Bennington S. Powell.
Survivors include: two sons, David S. Powell, Lexington and Michael S. Powell, Mercer County; two daughters, Jill M. Linger, Fairmont, WV, and Julie P. Walls, Danville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Stith Funeral Home by Rev. Tommy Valentine. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home.

MICHAEL ROBINSON
Michael Wayne Robinson, 46, husband of Beverly Davis Robinson, of David Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, after a battle with cancer.
He was born August 21, 1959 in Mercer County to James Allen and Minnie Faye Patterson Robinson, Lawrenceburg.
He was a member of Ninevah Christian Church, and was a fork lift driver for United L & N Glass for 15 years. He was co-owner of Robinson’s Appliance’s in Lawrenceburg for 35 years.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by: two sons, Justin Michael Robinson, Henderson, and Michael James Robinson, Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Keisha Nicole Pruitt, Marion, KY; one brother, Ronnie Robinson, Lawrenceburg; one sister, Regina “GiGi” Newman, Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, TaShawn, Kurt, Karissa, and Kara; mother and father-in-law, Elton and Margie Davis, Chaplin, and Robert and Irene Scrogham, Lawrenceburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Lynn Dickerson, and a brother, Ricky Allen Robinson; grandparents, Wilford and Addie Robinson, and George and Belle Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Terry Cooper, and Bro. Kenny Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, and after 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.
