James Morgan Bradshaw, 88, of 442 West Office Street, died Monday, August 28, 2000 at his residence.
Born October 23, 1911 in Moreland, he was the son of the late Harvey and Dora Noel Bradshaw.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II where he was a First Class Seaman and earned the Victory Medal and the American Area Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he attended the Glad Hand Sunday School Class and a retired meat cutter having worked for Jim's Market, C&T Food Market and Frank's Cash Food Store.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Wilma Demaree Bradshaw, Harrodsburg; one son, Forrest Brent Bradshaw, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Ison Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Chaplain Terry Cornish officiating.
Burial with military rites will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Simpson, Justin Bradshaw, Andie Cannon, Terry Cornish, Clarence Brown and Ernie Kelty.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
DORA MILLER
Dora Josephine Miller, 90, of 323 College Manor, died Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 6, 1910 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ludwell Carter and Emma Lee Kurtz Cornish. She was the widow of Hubert W. Miller.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist church.
Survivors include: one sister, Dorothy Zappone, Lexington; one sister-in-law, Ina Cornish, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Hundley, Adeline Moore, Naomi Fitzgerald and Nancy Ray; two brothers, Frank and William Cornish.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John David Lane officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Sims, Bill Miller, Gerald Drury, Gene House, Gayle Hundley, Travis Wheeler and Pat Drury.
Memorials are suggested to the Joseph Chapel United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be at the chapel after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.
VERNA GRIVETTI
Verna June Cornelius Grivetti, 72, of 3709 Glenn Street, Latonia, died Thursday, August 24, 2000 at her residence.
Born January 18, 1928 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late R. S. and Verner Scrogham Cornelius.
She was a 1947 graduate of Harrodsburg High School., a US Army veteran and a retired nurse.
She was member of DAR, Jane McAfee Chapter, Daughters of Union, Gov. Oliver Perry Morton Chapter, treasurer, American Ex-prisoners of War, a Kentucky Colonel, treasurer of the Daniel Boone Chapter, POW, Lexington, and treasurer of the Kentucky State Dept. American Ex-prisoners of War in Frankfort.
She was a past member of Eastern Star.
She had worked as a nurse in Oklahoma, Petersburg, VA, St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington and Ft. Devens Army Hospital in MA.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church and attended St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Latonia.
Survivors include: her husband, Louis Grivetti, Latonia; a daughter, Louise G. Williams; two brothers, Dan Cornelius, Harrodsburg and Jack Cornelius, Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Lyda Todd, Harrodsburg and Julia Speer, FL; two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Fred, Howard, John, James, Robert and Richard, and one sister, Evelyn Ellis.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 26, at Conley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia with Rev. Sarah Stanton officiating. Burial was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
Pallbearers were nephews.

MARIE SHELTON
Marie Hurst Shelton, 77, formerly of 241 S. Sunset Lane, died Monday, September 4, 2000 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.
Born May 30, 1923 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Betty Carey Hurst. She was the widow of James Luther Shelton.
She was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include: one sister, Ruby Craig; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Cecil, John, Jacke and Ralph "Bookus" Hurst, and two sisters, Christine McGinnis and Geneva Wilham.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. John David Lane officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy McGinnis, Jerry McGinnis, Junnie Craig, Troy Sherrow, Butch Wilham and Scott McGinnis.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935 VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for James Morgan Bradshaw at Spring Hill Cemetery on August 31.
Those attending were Dennis Shewmaker, Louis Ransdell, J. L. Devine, Gene Conley, Jim Stumph, Dave Bruner, Marion Mershon, James Carey, James Tewmey, Joe Harlow, Curtis Sherrow, Henry Pulliam, Howard H. Howells and Tommy Denny.
Jerry Freeman served as bugler.
JAMES NOEL
James Barnett "Jimmy" Noel, 54, of Mackville Road, Springfield, died Friday, September 1, 2000 at his residence.
Born in Lebanon, December 6, 1945, he was the son of Mildred Barnett Noel and the late Julius Noel.
He was a member of the Thompsonville Baptist Church, a 1964 graduate of Mackville High School, an army veteran and a self-employed housing contractor.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Addie Mann Noel, three daughters, Mrs. Jon (Michelle) Ryan, Bardstown, Mrs. Pat (Melissa) Taylor and Mrs. Andy (Melynda) Matherly both of Springfield,; one sister, Mrs. Dalton (Brenda) Jones of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Julius Noel, Jr., Lawrenceburg, Eddie and Paul Noel, both of Springfield; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, July 21, 1993.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 4, at the Thompsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Cheser and Rev. John McDaniel officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Pallbearers were James Dale Noel, Paul Clifton Noel, Tom Mann, Jonathan Mann, Mark Barnett, Mike Barnett, Glenn Black and Benjamin Settles. Honorary bearers were Freddie Bottom, Jim Smith, Jim Powell, Mike Yankey, Mark Wilkerson, Johnny Turner, Garvey Barnett and Kenneth Derringer.

MARY McKITRIC
Mary Walker McKitric, 86, Detroit MI, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, August 31, 2000 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Born August 29, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jenny Wright Walker and widow of Charlie B. McKitric.
She was a retired nurse and caterer, had attended cosmetology school and was a member of St. Peter AME Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Brenda (William "Fly") Owens, Detroit, and Mrs. Linda McKitric Blackshear, Garland, TX; two goddaughters, Mary Patton, Harrodsburg and Iola Williams, Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Iona Wright, Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Isabele Walker, Louisville, and Margaret Pearl Overstreet, Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother James Sonnie Walker and two sisters, Virginia Logan and Katherine Pittman.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 9, at St. Peter AME Church with Rev. J. D. Short III officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

WILLIAM CAREY
William Andy Carey, 80, 298 Dix Dam Road, died Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born November 2, 1919 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Omer Carey and Johnnie B. Lewis Carey Votaw.
He was a retired E. W. Brown coal yard supervisor and member of Burgin Baptist Church.
He was a World War II veteran of the US Army and a lifetime member of Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Carey, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Georgie Anne (Granville) Sherrow, Burgin; two sons, Ronald Edwin (Shirley) Carey, Concord, NC and Kenneth Andy (Judy) Carey, Burgin: a half sister, Margaret Ann Proctor; three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Elizabeth Devine.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. James Heard officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

WILLIAM HARDIN
William Thomas Hardin, 60, of 887 Bethpage Road, Estill Springs, TN, died Monday, September 4, 2000 at his residence.
Born October 12, 1939 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late John Francis and Martha Merryman Hardin.
He was retired from the U. S. Air Force.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Hardin, Estill Springs; one sister, Patsy Baker, Goodlettsville, TN.
Memorial services were held at the Winchester First United Methodist Church in Winchester, TN, Wednesday, September 6, with Rev. Jon Bell officiating.

OVIE GAINES
Ovie Gaines, 79, formerly of Mercer County, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born July 5, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Willie J. Peavler and the late Omie Camden Logue.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church and the Mercer County Senior citizens.
Survivors include: four sons, Donald Peavler, Harrodsburg, Thomas C. Gaines, II, Louisville; Kenneth Wayne Gaines, Louisville, and Grover Phillips, Danville; three daughters, Gracie Smith, Danville, Alice Dupont, Riverside, OH and Sheree Thompson, Ashland; two brothers, J. T. Peavler, Lexington, MO, and Marshall Peavler, Garland, TX; one sister, Jewell Anderson, Danville; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Lee Peavler and Condit B. Peavler; one sister, Ella Sallee.
