BEULAH THOMPSON
Beulah Thompson, 88, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at her home.

Born April 18, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Mary Elizabeth Catlett Lewis and the widow of Raymond Thompson.

She was a retired cook for the Mercer County school system and a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Curtis J. Thompson of Owingsville and William C. Thompson of Danville; four grandchildren, Angela Gray, Bill Thompson Jr., Chris Thompson and Mitzi Curran; 12 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Pagie Lewis, and four sisters, Gertie Devine, Johnnie B. Votaw, Mattie Schutshull and Willa Shirley.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 20 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bros. Paul Readnour and Danny Broce officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buddy and David Shirley, Charles and Buford Lewis, and Chris and Bill Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers were Angela Gray and Mitzi Curran.

GERALD VANGILDER
Gerald E. VanGilder, 81, of Danville, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born February 11, 1925, in Paris, IL, he was a son of the late Louis and Dorinda Trower VanGilder.

He was retired from The Advocate-Messenger and had been an employee of The Harrodsburg Herald’s advertising department. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of American Legion and the widower of Dorothy Englum VanGilder.

Survivors include: two daughters, Ellen Clements, Danville, and Jennifer Moore, LaGrange; one son, Eric VanGilder, Nebraska City, NE; and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville by Odis Clark. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.

MARGARET YEAGER

Margaret Bell Hughes Yeager, 68, of Humston Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at her home after an illness.

She was born June 1, 1937 in Anderson County to Mollie Lee Sea Hughes of Lawrenceburg and the late Marvin G. Hughes. She was the widow of Royce Gilbert Yeager. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by: four daughters, Jeanette (Tommy) Barnett, Peggy Peach and her husband, Clark, and Tracy (Bryan) Cammack, both of Lawrenceburg, and Rosanna Yeager, Lexington; one son, Royce Daniel (Sue) Yeager, Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; one brother, James Ray Hughes, Mercer County.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold J. Hughes.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Paul Hagerman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Mt. Washington.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 208 Steele Street, Frankfort, KY 40601.

Pallbearers were William T. Barnett, Andy Cammack, Royce E. Yeager, Trevor D. Yeager, John G. Peach, and Adam Tingle.

FRANKIE CARMICKLE

Helen Frances “Frankie” Carmickle, 73, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.

Born Feb. 11, 1933 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Helen Smith Carmickle.

She was a Baptist, and she enjoyed reading and children.

Survivors include: one brother, James “Jack” Carmickle of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Ruby Willoughby of Bowling Green and Pauline Garcia of Ohio; four nephews and nieces, and several great-nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2 at 1 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday after 11 a.m.

ROBERT CARSTENSEN SR.

Robert Rudolph Carstensen Sr., 88, of Salvisa, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his home.

Born April 8, 1918 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Rudolph Antone and Catherine Zimmer Carstensen and the husband of Frances Sienicki Carstensen.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and he was a bus driver for the New York City Transit Authority.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Robert R. Carstensen Jr. of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Bruce F. Carstensen of Clinton, NJ.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 30 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

RODNEY DIVINE
Rodney Eugene Divine, 44, of Richmond, died Thursday, May 25, 2006.

Born July 31, 1961 in Boyle County, he was the son of Bill Divine of Harrodsburg and Linda Anderson Myers of Ashton, IL.

He was a painter.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: three daughters, Aimee (Mike) Offutt of Rutledge, MO, Bobbie (Brad) Holt of Memphis, MO, and Charley Divine of Stanford; one son, T.J. Engelbrecht of Arbela, MO; one brother, Tim Divine of Paris; maternal grandmother, Sue Terhune of Harrodsburg, and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 31 at Battle Cemetery in Washington County with Matthew Atha officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to M.A.D.D., 511 E. John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 700, Irving, TX 75062.

Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LAWRENCE HENDREN
Hansford Lawrence Hendren, 75, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at his home.

Born Dec. 7, 1930 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Nona Divine Hendren.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired teacher, having taught in the Stanford and Harrodsburg school systems. He was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include: two sons, Kelly Hendren of Lexington and Kevin Hendren of Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Flynn Rogers officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Craig, Carlos Lester, Harold Hendren, Andy Weatherford, Hughes Jones and Jackie Key.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

ELIZABETH MAYEWSKI

Elizabeth Van Diver Shouse Mayewski, 91, widow of Peter Mayewski, of Ninevah Road, Lawrenceburg, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

She was born November 28, 1914 in Mercer County to the late John and Mary Elizabeth Van Diver.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy (Betty) Shouse, and J. B. (Yvonne) Shouse; two daughters, Mary (James Allen) Campbell, and Hedy (J. R. ) Barnett, all of Lawrenceburg; three step sons, Joey (Margaret) Mayewski, PA, Pete Mayewski, Lawrenceburg, and Glenn (Lisa) Mayewski, Frankfort; two step daughters, Phyllis (George) Fint, and Sharon (Sammy) Scott, Irvin; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Lee Shouse; great grandson, Jonathan Shouse; two brothers, Fred Van Diver and Jim Van Diver; three sisters, Catherine Mattingly, Mary Ellen Marksberry, and Delliah Vanarsdall.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Fred Knickerbocker officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, and after 8 a.m. Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Lowell Barnett, Jeff Shouse, John Eugene Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, Travis Farley, and Drew Goodlett.

JACKIE MORGESON
Jack “Jackie” Dempsey Morgeson Jr., 26, of Gravel Switch, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in Danville.

Born Aug. 14, 1979 in Marion County, he was the son of Edwina Hourigan Morgeson of Gravel Switch and Jack Dempsey Morgeson Sr. of Mercer County.

He was a 1998 graduate of Boyle County High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a member of the Beech Fork Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, survivors include: stepmother, Karen Morgeson of Mercer County; stepfather, Keith Garrett of Gravel Switch; one brother, Brandon Morgeson of Gravel Switch; one sister, Hallie Morgeson of Mercer County; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Roberta Hourigan of Boyle County; paternal grandparents, Richard and Margaret Ann Morgeson of Lebanon, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 26 at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with George Hourigan officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lee Carpenter, Randy Emmons, Nick Lyons, Chris Hogue, Jeremy and Jason Adkins, Mike Taylor and Matt McCoy.

Honorary pallbearers were Buck Sawyer, Scott Routin, Ashley Kirkland, Derek Gibson, and Jason and Brian Garrett.

MARIAN SUMMERS
Marian Charlene Graham Summers, 50, of East Office Street, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 23, 1955 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Betty Leonard Graham.

She was a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed shopping, the outdoors and spending time with others.

Survivors include: one son, Jason Wayne (Patricia) Gabhart of Harrodsburg; three sisters, June (Dale) Duvall of Crossville, IL, Nina (Steve) Logue of Burgin and Valerie “Bobbie” (Larry) Baxter of Salvisa; two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one nephew, Joey Dennis, and one niece, Jerri Lynn Nobles.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Geffory Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Peters Cemetery in Mackville.

Pallbearers will be Will Nobles, Derek Patrick, Chip Hartman, Terry Fowler, Freddie Leonard and Michael Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Hines, John Tompkins, Stevie Releford and Steve Dennis.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

WINFIELD TYLER
Winfield Tyler, 65, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Dec. 8, 1940 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Richard Esmond and Ovie Taylor Tyler and the husband of Dorthy Peavler Tyler.

He was a cook for 43 years and a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one sister, Sylvia Yates of Harrodsburg, and one nephew, Paul Abercrombie Jr. of Jessamine County.

He was preceded in death by one half-sister, Myrtle Hendren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial was in Deep Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dalton Curry, David Coleman, Eddie Long, Danny White, Nellus Estes and Henry Peavler.

Honorary pallbearers were Don Turner, Buster Cannada, Donnie Bottom and Lewis Walter.

MILLARD WARREN
Millard Pierce Warren, 78, of Junction City, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born December 11, 1927, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Hollis and Dovie Mae Warren.

He was a retired master plumber and farmer. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include: four daughters, Pam Kramer, Hustonville, Marilyn Elmore, Danville, Geraldine Royalty, Harrodsburg, and Kathy Bodner, Danville; two sons, Millard S. and Michael Warren, both of Nicholasville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Warren, and a daughter, Carolyn Warren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Wade, Jason and Greg Coulter, Scott and Bradley Blackburn, Derek Christerson and Stuart Warren. Honorary pallbearers are Chester Kavanaugh, W. H. Furr, Ed Orberson, Bobby Elmore and Kenny Scrogham.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday.

THELMA BENNETT
A graveside memorial service for Thelma D. Bennett, who died January 9, 2006, will be held Saturday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Walter officiating.

Survivors include: one sister, Jean Mayes of Harrodsburg; one brother, Donald Divine of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

The Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

LATONNA CLARK

LaTonna Wright Clark, 86, of Lexington, died Friday, June 2, 2006.

She was a member of the Gardenside Baptist Church and a regular volunteer at Central Kentucky Blood Center.

She is survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Karen Clark, and her parents, Coleman and Nettie Gabhart Wright.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington by Rev. James E. Heard. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Visitation will be Mon, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the funeral home.

IDA ELLIOTT
Ida Rena Elliott, 82, of Elliott Road, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Sept. 24, 1923 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Ethel T. Harmon Bottoms and the widow of Walter James Elliott.

She was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed farming and gardening.

Survivors include: one daughter, Joann (Connie) Watts of Mercer County; four brothers, Ernest, John and Arthur Bottoms, all of Washington County, and Billy Bottoms of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Jewell Bottoms and Beatrice Taylor, both of Harrodsburg, and Jean Casey of Lexington; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Paul Elliott; three sisters, Alma Albertson, Opal Settles and Doris Perkins, and two brothers, Donald and Bobby Bottoms.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Walter officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and Friday after 7 a.m.
