MARILYN GOODLETT
Marilyn E. Goodlett, 66, of Fallis Run Road, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born April 20, 1940 in Taylorsville, she was the daughter of the late Loise Christine Hilbert Goodlett and Lannis Wilbert Goodlett Sr.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Temple Church of Danville.

Survivors include: four sisters, Waldine Gray, Janice C. Ammons and Connie Yvonne McDonald, all of Harrodsburg, and Marsha Ann Thompson of Danville; five brothers, Lannis Goodlett, Clifford Goodlett, Larry Goodlett, Phillip Goodlett and Tony Goodlett, all of Harrodsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday June 19 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Reverend Floying Thompson Jr. officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Lannis, Clifford, Larry, Phillip and Tony Goodlett and Joe Ammons Jr.

WANDA HURST
Wanda Jean Hurst, 70, of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born March 3, 1936 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Marvin C. Taylor and Zeleen Crossfield Taylor Boston and was the widow of Dalton H. Hurst Sr.

She was a retired private caregiver.

Survivors include: three daughters, Verna “Vicky” Elizabeth Hurst of Harrodsburg, Debbie Hurst of Junction City and Tammy H. Abbott of Parksville; two sons, Tony Hurst of Garrard County and Dalton H. Hurst Jr. of Harrodsburg; one half sister, Carla Taylor of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Private graveside services were held Tuesday, June 20 at New Providence Cemetery with Scott Hurst officiating.

Pallbearers were the grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40423.

KEITH MCGUIRE
Keith Allan McGuire, 46, of Danville, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at his home.

Born Dec. 7, 1959 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Betty Jean Rousey McGuire of Danville and the late Keith D. McGuire.

He was an artist and a Baptist.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one daughter, Ashley McGuire of Harrodsburg; one brother, Brian Kevin McGuire of Danville; one grandchild, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held Saturday June 17 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

JOHN PATCHEN

John Patchen, 87, of Denmark Drive, Danville, died Sat, June 17, 2006 at Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Born February 27, 1919 in Brookside, AL, he was the son of the late Pete and Mary Broutfek Patchen of Austria.

He was a WWII Army Veteran, having served in the South Pacific, and had been an attendant for 22 years at the VA Medical Center on Leestown Road. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Danville, and was a former member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Lexington.

Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Willie Maxine Manuel Patchen; two sons, John Ricky Patchen, Shawnee, KS and Peter Wayne Patchen, London; three daughters, Linda S. Jones, Harrodsburg, Stephanie Patchen, Danville, and Cathy Sprester, Lexington; one sister, Margaret Monoske, Brookside, AL, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Patchen.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, at 2:30 p.m., at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Father William Bush officiating.

Contributions suggested to the Eisenhower Unit at Thompson-Hood Veterans Center.

Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT RIVERS

Robert Lee "Frosty" Rivers, 79, of Burgin, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.

Born March 26, 1927, in Charlotte, SC, he was the son of the late Sidney and Julia Rivers.

He was a retired construction worker and a Baptist.

Survivors include: his wife, Maedell Rivers; his children, Curtis, Shirley, Paulette, Robert L., Grindle and Michael Rivers; his stepchildren, Frank Norman Jr., Wayne Norman, Clydette Norman and Phyllis Norman and Joyce Hardin; three brothers, Mack, Sidney and Charles Rivers; five sisters, Linda Rogan, Diane Hines, Margaret Ratliff, Julia Abner and Toleeto Rivers; and several grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home, Danville, by Rev. Everhart Walker. Burial will be in Hubble Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Frank Jr. and Wayne Norman, Kenneth Penman, Raymond Huston, Jeff Vineyard and Rick Jenkins.

Honorary pallbearers are David Bradshaw, Richard Cheek, Fred Harris, Doug Reed, Todd Shepard and Danny Sprangler.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

BOBBY SHERROW
Bobby Lee Sherrow, 76, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Sept. 10, 1929 in Shakertown, he was the son of the late Hogan and Gustiva Dennis Sherrow and was the widower of Jane Hunter Sherrow.

He grew up in Mercer County and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a major after 30 years of service.

Survivors include: one son, Greg Hunter Sherrow of San Diego, CA; one sister, Lucille Sallee of Middletown, OH; three brothers, Curtis (Joyce) Sherrow and Granville (Georgie Anne) Sherrow, both of Harrodsburg, and Harry Sherrow of Versailles; one sister-in-law, Ann Merriman of Harrodsburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Geurin officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Sallee, David Huffman, Mike and Todd Sherrow, Mark Merriman and Bill Drury.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Visitation at the funeral home Wednesday 5-9 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m.

BOBBY SHERROW

Bobby Lee Sherrow, 76, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born September 10, 1929, in Shakertown, he grew up in Mercer County. He was the son of the late Hogan and Gustiva Dennis Sherrow. At the age of 18, Bobby joined the United States Marine Corps where he fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Starting out as a Private he was rapidly promoted through every enlisted rank. He was soon promoted to officer as a Second Lieutenant and again rose quickly through every rank to Major. Major Sherrow was then offered a promotion to Colonel but chose to retire after a 30-year distinguished career in the Corps. Major Sherrow received the Pistol Expert Badge, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Major Sherrow was a 32nd Degree Mason, a past Commander of the V.F.W., and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, sports, crossword puzzles, and reminiscing about the Marine Corps with family and friends. Above all. Major Bob Sherrow loved his country and the Corps. He was a patriot and a Marine to the very end.

Survivors include one son, Greg Hunter Sherrow of San Diego, California; one sister, Lucille Sallee of Middletown, Ohio; three brothers: Curtis (Joyce) Sherrow, Granville (Georgia Anne) Sherrow both of Harrodsburg, and Harry Sherrow of Versailles; one sister-in-law, Ann Merriman of Harrodsburg; and also many nieces and nephews. Major Sherrow was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Hunter Sherrow in 2001, after 51 years of marriage.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg with Brother Jack Guerin officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens, with Wayne Sallee, David Huffman, Mike Sherrow, Todd Sherrow, Mark Merriman, and Bill Drury serving as pallbearers. Members of the V.F.W. and the American Legion will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation 5:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

SANDRA STACY

Sandra Louise Stacy, 61, daughter of Louise Dulin and the late James Dulin and the late Jason Stivers, died Monday, June 19, 2006 at the St. Joseph Hospital.

She was a homemaker.

Along with her mother, she is survived by her children; Eddie Stacy and Lisa(David) Kyle, both of Lexington; two grandchildren; Hailley Stacy and Samuel Thomas; brothers and sisters; Charles Stivers, James Dulin, and Pam Shook, all of Lexington, and Linda Pennington, Harrodsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Christian.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 22, at Kerr Brothers E. - Main, by Pastor Tommy Howard, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

ETHEL SNAPP
Ethel E. Snapp, 92, died Monday, June 19, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born March 16, 1914 in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Eva Bradley Elliott and was the widow of Carl F. Snapp.

She was a nursing assistant retired from The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, and she enjoyed knitting, flowers, sewing, quilting and farming.

Survivors include: one son, Harold Snapp of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Margaret O’Bannon of Harrodsburg; one half-sister, Hattie Simpson of Lebanon; one half-brother; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Lillian Snapp.

Services were held Wednesday, June 21 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Geoff Barrett and the Rev. John Thompson officiating. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bob Williams, Jeff Woodrum, Jimmy Matherly, Andy Reynolds, Darrell Catlett and Ronnie Sims.

ROY WALKER JR.

Roy Cecil Walker Jr., 63, of Boyle County, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington.

Born August 8, 1942, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Mary Walker.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Danville, Second and Walnut streets, and member of the Usher Board. He attended Bate High School, was retired from V.A. Hospital in Lexington, worked at Bank One of Danville, was a Navy veteran and served in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie F. Walker; two daughters, Lazonia Walker, Virginia Beach, VA, and April Walker, Lexington; one son, Roy C. Walker Jr., Lexington; three sisters, Linelle Walker, Cincinnati, OH, Lonnie S. Smith, Danville and Mary J. Dunn, Harrodsburg; two brothers, George and Freddie Walker, both of Danville; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at noon Friday, June 15, at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets, by the Revs. Ronald McCowan and Richard Hill. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Baughman, Joey Griffin, Michael Menifee, Brian Dunn, Michael Walker and George Woods.

Honorary pallbearers are the Usher Board.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JOSEPHINE BARLOW
Josephine E. Barlow, 82, of Danville, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 21, 1924, in the Turnersville community in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Leah Wilcher Estes.

She retired from Palm Beach Company and was a member of First Baptist Church on Broadway in Danville.

Survivors include three sons, Conway Barlow, Sellersburg, IN, Tom Barlow, Harrodsburg, and Mike Barlow, Danville; a sister, Ruth Long, Stanford; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, by Rev. Jerry Lester. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Toban and Ernie Barlow, Craig Padgett, and Todd, Daniel and Justin Barlow.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may go to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 317 W. Broadway, Danville.
