Sherman D. Bryant, age 67, of Clear Creek Road, Nicholasville, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at his home after an illness.
Born January 5, 1939 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charles Douglass and Ethel Palastine Simpson Bryant.
He was a retired engineer with I.B.M. having 32 years of service; an Army veteran having served in the Cuban Crisis. He was a member of Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Keene, KY. He attended Anderson County High School and was a member of the Antique Farm and Tractor Club.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Smith Bryant; a daughter, Trina Lene’ Bryant, Lexington; a son, Sherman D. Bryant, Jr., Miami, Fla.; four brothers, William Norris Bryant, Versailles, David Earl (Doris) Bryant, Prentice Bryant, Lawrenceburg, and Allen Richard (Elaine) Bryant, La Mar, TX, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Jesse Bernice, Forrest, Harold, and Carlton Bryant.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Bobby Bicknell officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday.

BILLY BURKE
Billy Don Burke, 64, of Mercer County, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at his home.
Born Nov. 27, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of Lucille Blacketer Burke of Harrodsburg and the late William G. Burke and was the widower of Jackie Dunning Burke.
He was a retired Corning, Inc. employee and a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, attending horse and dog races and was an avid University of Kentucky fan.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: one son, Donnie (Denise) Burke of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Vonna Carol (Buck) Whitenack of Harrodsburg, Robin Lynn (Tim) Kidd of Mercer County and Andrea Jean (Chris) O’Bryan of Nicholasville; one brother, Harry (Glenda) Burke of Mercer County; one sister, Nancy (Ronnie) Baker of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, June 30 at 1 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and Friday after 7 a.m.

CHARLES FRENCH
Charles William French, 83, formerly of Mackville Road, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Healthcare Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Clifton J. “Clif” and Dora Anderson French.
He was a retired self-employed auto body repairman.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kecia Hope (Jerry) Sparks of Harrodsburg; two step-grandchildren, and special nephew, Donnie French of Harrodsburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Jordan French.
Services were held Wednesday, June 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
O. B. GOODLETT
O. B. Goodlett, 93, of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at the home of his daughter in Berea.
Born November 18, 1912 in Washington County, he was the son of the late David Luther and Katherine Phillips Goodlett.
He was a member of the Army Air Corps, serving in WWII. He was a member of Lawrenceburg First Christian Church where he was a member of the Birdwhistell Sunday School Class, former elder, and choir member. He was a retired plant manager from Edwards Sausage Company in Lawrenceburg. He was a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge #90, and a graduate of Burgin High School.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Whitt, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Carole (Jerry) Powell, Berea, and Donna Royse, Lebanon; step-daughter, Charlan Riley, Lexington, and step-sons, John and Dan Whitt of Fairfield, OH.; a brother, Guy Walter Goodlett, Burgin; four grandchildren, David Whisman, Berea, Mark Royce, Indianapolis, Sara Watson, Berea, Elizabeth Royce, Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Devon and Damien Watson, Berea; eight step-grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Milton Goodlett; a step-son, Chuck Whitt; two brothers, H. Lloyd Goodlett, and Raymond E. Goodlett, and a sister, Sylvia Goodlett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at the Lawrenceburg First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gash Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceburg.
Pallbearers will be Jim Link, Charles Goodlett, Tom Smith, Richard Crutcher, Jerry Barnett, and Mac Milton. Honorary bearers will be George Detherage, W.J. Smith, Gene Perry, John Whitt, Dan Whitt, and the Birdwhistell S.S. Class.

BUFORD JENKINS
Buford Jenkins, 74, of Stanford, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 16, 1932 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Dovie Hardin Jenkins and was the husband of Lula Brafford Jenkins.
He was a farmer and worked at the University of Kentucky in construction. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Shakertown Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two step-sons, Joseph Minton of LaFayette, IN, and Barry Minton of Lexington; one step-daughter, Kim Baugh of Harrodsburg; one brother, Earl Jenkins of Versailles; two sisters, Margaret Lester and Edith Nowlin, both of Harrodsburg, and five step-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, June 27 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
EDWARD LESCOE
Edward Lescoe, 85, of Heber Springs, AR, formerly of Livonia, MI, died Feb. 19, 2006.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the widower of Mercer County native Gladys Darland Lescoe.
Survivors include three sons, two daughters, one brother, two sisters, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery.

DOROTHEA RUPOSKY
Dorothea Songsparrow Ruposky, 78, of Mercer County, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.
Born Oct. 12, 1927 in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mabel Martell and was the wife of Andrew Ruposky.
She was a dietician and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She enjoyed garage sales and fishing.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Andrew (Brenda) Ruposky of Ohio; two daughters, Tina Sourbeer of Indiana and Linda Marie Meyer of Brandenburg; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday, June 27 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Father Joseph Muench officiating.

BARBARA VICK
Barbara Roth Vick, 83, died Thursday June 22, 2006 at Lexington Country Place.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia R. (Guy) Simmons, Harrodsburg, and Susan R. Walls, Lexington; one son, Bruce C. (Ginny ) Roth, Lexington; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, June 26, at the W. R. Milward Funeral Home - Southland, Lexington, conducted by Gordon Walls.
Visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Humane Society.

Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Post #54 conducted military rites for Lois “Baldy” Dean at Ebenezer Cemetery June 21, 2006.

Army representatives from Fort Knox were SSG Devin Rudicil and SSG Earl W. Barrett.
