Alonzo Meaux, 83, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center, died Thursday, December 28, 2000, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 3, 1917 in Mayo, he was the son of the late Gus and Clarice Singleton Meaux. He was the widower of Georgia Lee Gooch Meaux.
He was a retired farmer and former employee of Hall Mack Corporation and a member of the Meaux Chapel AME Church.
Survivors include: one son, Walter (Delores) Meaux, Lexington; one sister, Mary Thelma (William H.) Parks, Sr., Harrodsburg, three sisters-in-law, Alma Meaux, Maithia Meaux, both of Harrodsburg and Catherine Lewis, Lexington; one brother-in-law, Arthur Lewis, Sr., Lexington; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Meaux, a daughter, Lacey Woods Johnson, six brothers, George, Walter, Clay, Elwood, Ivan and Albert Meaux, and one sister, Mattie Jones.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the St. Peter AME Church with Sister Mary White and Rev. Everhart Walker conducting the service. Burial was in Hilldale cemetery in Danville.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Faulkner, Larry and Thomas Meaux, Henry and Gus Parks, and Shaw Woods. Honorary bearers were Davis Burrus, Howard Gregory, Jimmy and Gary Keller, J. T. Logue, James McMurry and Kenneth Sims.
Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

DALE TAYLOR
Dale Owen Taylor, 42, of Greenwood Drive, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at his residence.
Born December 25, 1958 in Alexandria, LA, he was the son of Shirley Moss Taylor of Harrodsburg and the late Owen Willard Taylor.
He was an electrician for Hurst electric.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Teresa Kaye Matherly Taylor, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Brittney Ann Taylor and Tara Leigh Taylor, both of Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Crystal Coulter, Lexington; one brother, Wayne G. Taylor, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Belinda Houston, Connersville, IN, Sharon Blankenship, Harrodsburg, and Melanie Taylor, Lexington.,
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Hampton, Rick Preston, Glenn Hurst, Perry Hurst, Tony Darland and Mike Matherly.

ELIZABETH CUMMINS
Elizabeth Virginia Cummins, 72, of Wildwood, FL died Friday, December 29, 2000 at the Leesburg Regional Hospital in Leesburg, FL.
Born September 8, 1928 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Bethel Pench Sallee. She was a member of the Baptist church and a former Mercer Dress employee.
Survivors include: her husband, John Cummins, Wildwood, FL; two sons, John Victor Cummins and Jerry Lee Cummins, both of Wildwood, FL.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Caldwell, Fred Beecher, Tim Glasscock, Tommy Sallee, Gene Hines and Don Satterly.

JACOB HONAKER
Jacob Edward Honaker, 2 months, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born October 28, 2000, he was the son of Terry and Julie Logue Honaker.
He was a member of Burner's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to this parents, include: one brother, Matthew Honaker, Harrodsburg; Maternal grandparents, Donald and Eva Logue, Harrodsburg; paternal grandparents, Frebert and Jean Honaker, Mitchellsburg; great grandmother, Vina Underwood, Danville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Redding officiating. Burial was in the Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jared Reinsmith and Kyle Curtis. Honorary bearers were Clay Long, Devin Honaker and Cameron Honaker.

MELVIN GIBSON
Melvin Dillard Gibson, 78, 663 Fairview Court, died Friday, December 29, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 27, 1922 in Mercer County he was the son of the late Cliff and Myrtie Bailey Shewmaker.
He was a retired grocery stock manager, a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church and an avid sports fan.
Survivors include: his wife, Irene Gibson, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Lois Ann (Jere) Vaught and Linda (Steve) McCrystal, both of Mercer County; one sister, Arthalina Leonard, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Parsons and Louise Campbell.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 1, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Logue and Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steven Reed, Lonnie Campbell, Terry Young, Buddy Logue, Buford Noel and Bobby Trisler. Honorary bearers were Ed Robertson, Skeeter Reed, Billy Gilvin, James Holiday, Curtis Currens, Roy Camic, Vernice Long and Leslie Rue.

LOLA SHEWMAKER
Lola Mae "Birchie" Shewmaker, 87, formerly of the Hilltop community died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born August 10, 1913 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Eller Parrott Watts.
She was a former employee of Avalon Inn and a member of Battle Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Elizabeth Jewell Shewmaker, Wanda Kay Baker, and Rhonda Baker, all of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Glenda Hume and Jean Shewmaker, and three sisters, Lilli Pearson, Laura Lambert and Jewell Carrier.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 1, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye and Bro. Harley Humfleet officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Freddie Warner, James Allen Lewis, Mike Hume, Ronnie Hume, Larry Hume, Wayne Shewmaker, Brian Smith and Gary Hume.

LULA KURTZ
Lula M. Hurst Kurtz, 92, of Cincinnati, died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at Hospice of Cincinnati.
Born January 8, 1908 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Sallee Hurst. She was the widow of Charles Kurtz.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elsie Culbertson and Evie Kurtz, both of Cincinnati, OH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH. Graveside services will be held at Spring Hill cemetery at 1:00 p.m., January 4.

DAVIS ROBINSON
Davis J. Robinson, 76, of 1720 Ballard Road, Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.
He was a native of Anderson County, son of the late Major L. and Tavie Cammack Robinson.
He was a farmer, member of the Ballard Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include: one brother, William Record Robinson, Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews, including Bill Robinson of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

NORMAN PINKSTON
Norman Pinkston, 70, of 349 Bonny Lynn Drive, died Sunday December 31, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born October 16, 1930 in Paducah, he was the son of the late L. C. and Viola Reed Pinkston.
He was a retired press operator for Corning Glass, was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and served in the army during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Carmickle Pinkston, Harrodsburg; two sons, Roger Barnard and Doug Long, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Marvin and Charles; two sisters, Bernice and Brenda; six grandchildren and two great grandcildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Releford officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Cinnamon, David Cinnamon, James Paul Murray, Roy Bugg, Lynn Nichols, Ronnie Croft, Johnny Winchester and David Bruner.

Ruby G. Compton Joseph, 88, formerly of Dayton, died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born January 22, 1912 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Ball Compton. She was the widow of Herbert Joseph and Leonard Newman.
She was a member of Northridge Freewill Baptist Church in Dayton.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mildred Newman Bowling, Harrodsburg and Opal Newman Ward of Russell; two brothers, Doug Compton, Dayton, OH and William Compton, Wallingford; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mable Hall.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 3, at the Magotti Gavin Funeral Home, 1508 Valley Street, Dayton, OH with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
