Anna Mae Rowney, 65, of 1541 Boyers Chapel Road, Sadieville, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday, February 26, 2001 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.
Born May 17, 1935 in Quaker City, OH she was the daughter of the late Ben Thomas and Mary Magdalene Jewell Whiteley.
She was a retired employee of NCR in Ohio.
Survivors include: three sons, Terry Richard Nelson, Harrodsburg, Jack Dewayne Nelson, Mackville, and B. J. Misner, Burnet, TX; three daughters, Bonnie Jean Fry, Quaker City, OH, Linda Mae Nelson Hamilton, Cynthiana, and Connie Magdalene Nelson, Somerset; five brothers, George, Harmon, Roy, Lloyd and Wayne Whiteley; three sisters, Edna Lipert, Wilma Jean Duncan and Linda Clay; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 28, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Danny Broce officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Salvisa.
Pallbearers were grandsons.

LETTIE McCROSKY
Lettie B. McCrosky, 82, of 619 Greenwood Drive, died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born June 24, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosie Lee Carr Baker. She was the widow of Alford D. McCrosky.
She had worked in quality control for Corning Glass of Danville. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Baker’s Craft Club and the Mercer County Homemakers.
Survivors include: one son, David H. (Wanda) McCrosky, Oak Ridge, TN; one brother, Maurice C. "Bob" Baker, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Frances Devine, Margaret Curtsinger and Barbara Logue, all of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Baker Jr., and a sister, Mary Caton.
Funeral services were held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers were Danny Curtsinger, Gary Lay, Dewayne Maddox, Kermit Logue, Brent Logue, Bruce Harpe, Dennis Wade, Bobby Jack Baker, Virgil Monroe and John Inman. Honorary bearers were Todd Wright Will Campbell and Bill Lester.
Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund.

ROBERT CARRIER
Robert Lee Carrier Jr., 85, died Monday, February 26, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 16, 1915, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Nellie Shearer Carrier, Sr. He was the widower of Ella B. Vest Carrier.
He was a mechanic, brick layer, farmer and member of the Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church.
He enjoyed dirt track racing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include: two sons, Bobby Lee Carrier Harrodsburg, Eddie Ray Carrier, Cynthiana; one daughter, Eva Pearl Lay, Harrodsburg; one sister, Gertrude McKinney, Mercer County; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Carrier, four sisters, Pearly Shearer, Lilly Shannon, Brownie Hargis and Bessie Shannon, and one grandson, Jeremy Todd Carrier.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 28, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gil Lay, Druand Lay, Eddie Carrier, Jr., Bryan Carrier, Bobby Carrier, Jr., and Roy Sanders, Jr. Honorary bearers were Ted McKinney Sr., Ted McKinney Jr., and Rue Sallee.

DAVE MARKSBURY
Dave Marksbury, 66, of Lexington, died Sunday, February 18, 2001 in Naples, FL.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Vandiver Marksbury.
He was a member of Southland Christian Church, a retired employee of IBM, a graduate of Xavier University and a veteran of the US Navy.
Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis Hendrix Marksbury, Lexington; two sons, Davis L. (Beverly) Marksbury Jr., Paul Douglas Marksbury, both of Lexington; one daughter, Marsia Duncan, Winchester; one step daughter, Sandra Michelle Feck, Lexington; four sisters, Elizabeth Carroll, Louise Scott, Charlotte Arnold, Faye Patton; two brothers, Carlos Marksbury and Danny Marksbury; ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Ernest Marksbury Jr., and one sister, Doris Smith.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 23, at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville with Rev. Gary Black officiating. Burial was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

MARY COX
Mary Louise Cox, 70, of Lakeland, FL, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001, at her residence.
A native of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and May Mattingly Anderson. She was the widow of J. B. Cox.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marcella Hartman, Paducah; four sons, Ronnie Cox, Plant City, FL, Anthony Cox, Mulberry, FL, Rick Cox, Orange Springs, FL and Tommy Cox, Riverview, FL; two sisters, Patsy Steele and Brenda Semones, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Ralph "Pete" Anderson, Harrodsburg; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 3, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Quimby officiating.

CARRIE DEAN
Carrie Rowland Dean, 80, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort.
A native of Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Will Henry and Carrie May Cassady Rowland. She was the widow of Hite Dean.
She was a retired employee of the University of Louisville Department of Cancer Research and a member of Crescent Hill United Methodist Church in Louisville.
She was a member and past state treasurer of the Kentucky Democratic Women’s Club, a member of the University of Louisville Alumni Association and a member of the Bland Ballard Chapter, DAR.
She was also a member and past president of the Kentucky Huguenot Society of Manakin, VA.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cora Potter, Louisville, and Carrie Skaggs, Shelbyville; one sister, Mary A. Rowland Curts, Louisville; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 6, at Spring Hill cemetery in Harrodsburg with Rev. Don Dilday officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Centenary United Methodist Church.
Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements.

DAVID GRIEVE
David L. Grieve, 59, of 1045 Bushtown Road, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, .
Born March 11, 1941 in Lawrence, OH, he was the son of the late George and Mabel Byers Grieve.
He had lived in West Virginia for several years, was a former truck driver and was a US Air Force veteran.
He was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Martha Cooke Grieve, Harrodsburg; three sons, David S. Grieve and Michael L. Grieve, both of Harrodsburg, David L. Grieve, Jr. of Weirton, WV; two daughters, Carissa Grieve, Richmond, Sharon Kirkpatrick, Wileyville, WV; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 2, 2001 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was Monday, March 5, at the Camp Nelson National cemetery in Nicholasville.

CONDIT JOHNSON
Condit B. Johnson, 89, of 2116 Talmage Mayo Road, died Monday, March 5, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born November 22, 1911 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas William and Nora Poulter Johnson.
He was a retired bridge crew member for Southern Railroad and was a member of the Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Johnson, Harrodsburg; two sons, Wendell Johnson, Mercer County, William Elton Johnson, Lexington; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Lloyd Johnson, seven brothers, George, Sanford, Ansel, Marvin, Collins, Stanley and John Johnson; eight sisters, Mary Helen Austin, Vergie Whitenack, Tillie Lucas, Pauline Smith, Bessie White, Zelma Johnson, Adeline Johnson, and Evelyn Johnson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Atha and Rev. Elwood Norton officiating. Burial was in the Mayo Cemetery.

VIRGIL PREWITT
Virgil Camden Prewitt, 75, of 795 Cane Run Street, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at his residence.
Born April 3, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Gilford and Emma Weldon Prewitt.
He had worked as a meat cutter for Mark's Meats and served in the Army during world War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Prewitt, Harrodsburg; one son, Ron (Donna) Prewitt, Cincinnati, OH; three daughters, Patricia (Harvey) Sanders, and Marzetta (David) Brown, both of Cincinnati, OH, Rita (John) Marland, Somerset; two brothers, Jim Prewitt, Louisville, Bill Prewitt, Corinth; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Easterling officiating.
