Born February 20, 1953 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Jesse Dyer Smith.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Owen's Chevrolet in Danville and was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Steven Stratton, Salvisa; one son, A. Maurice Stratton, Lexington; one daughter, Susan Marie Stratton, Lexington; three brothers, Richard Smith, Billy Ray Smith and Bruce Smith, all of Corbin; one sister, Jeannie (Darryl) Gross, CA; her mother-in-law, Alice Carolyn Stratton, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mike Conover officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa.
Pallbearers will be Delbert Reynolds, William Statham, Chris Stratton, Daniel Stratton, Walter Hopkins and James Merrideth.
Memorials are suggested to the Kirkwood Baptist cemetery Fund.
Visitation will be at the chapel after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

PRISCILLA STRATTON
Priscilla Jane Riley Stratton, 94, of Lexington, formerly of Anderson County, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
She was a native of Mercer County, daughter of the late John McClellan and Betty Milburn Riley, a homemaker, and a member of the Willisburg Church or God of Prophecy.
Survivors include: one daughter, Eloise Whitehouse, Salvisa; one son, Halton Stratton, Lexington; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Annette Smith and Betty Allen, and two sons, William Haston Stratton, and William Byrd Stratton Jr., and three brothers, Seabert Riley, John Riley, and W. C. "Dub" Riley.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Byron Jessup and Bro. Barry R. Moore officiating. Burial was in Sand Spring cemetery in Anderson County.
Pallbearers were Rodney Milburn, Joseph Darnell, Sonny Brinegar, Dwayne Smith, Jackie Smith, and Jim Turner.

VIRGINIA VANDIVIER
Virginia Leonard Vandivier, 79, of 591 Johnson Road, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born June 1, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ansel and Ethel Carey Leonard. She was the widow of Loyd Vandivier.
She had worked as an employee of the Gem Drug Store.
She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years at Harrodsburg Baptist and Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Dr. Dan Vandivier, Louisville; one daughter, Gayle Horn, Mercer County; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Lawrence Leonard; one sister, Louise Jackson.
Funeral services were held March 6, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor, Eddie Russell and Mark Baldauff officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Horn, Chris Horn, Ben Vandivier, Lauren Vandivier, Ronnie Sims and Billy Simpson. Honorary bearers were Joe Ruby, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Carter, Joe Davis and Kenneth Davis.
Memorials are suggested to the Mercer Baptist Association Building Fund.

RUTH WRIGHT
Ruth Doty Wright, 88, of Lynnwood Drive, Lancaster, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at her residence.
Born February 9, 1913 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late A. B. Doty and Mattie Frances Arnold Doty. She was the widow of William Burdette Wright.
She was a homemaker, member of Fairview Christian Church, member of the Golden Age Club, "The Support Group" and the AARP.
Survivors include: one brother, John Doty, Paint Lick, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Eudaly, Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Doty, and a sister, Alice Palmer.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 2, at Ramsey Funeral Home, Lancaster, with Rev. William Morrow officiating.
Pallbearers were Dickie Arnold, Bud Mulcahy, Beverly Miller, George Ralph Arnold, and Cecil Arnold. Honorary bearers were Gladys Nave, Mary Ray, Jo Ann Grow, Carrie Dennis, Rose Lawson and Mildred Stamper.

MARY COX
Mary Louise Cox, 70, of Lakeland, FL, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001, at her residence.
A native of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and May Mattingly Anderson. She was the widow of J. B. Cox.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marcella Hartman, Paducah; four sons, Ronnie Cox, Plant City, FL, Anthony Cox, Mulberry, FL, Rick Cox, Orange Springs, FL and Tommy Cox, Riverview, FL; two sisters, Patsy Steele and Brenda Semones, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Ralph "Pete" Anderson, Harrodsburg; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 3, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Quimby officiating.

CARRIE DEAN
Carrie Rowland Dean, 80, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort.
A native of Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Will Henry and Carrie May Cassady Rowland. She was the widow of Hite Dean.
She was a retired employee of the University of Louisville Department of Cancer Research and a member of Crescent Hill United Methodist Church in Louisville.
She was a member and past state treasurer of the Kentucky Democratic Women’s Club, a member of the University of Louisville Alumni Association and a member of the Bland Ballard Chapter, DAR.
She was also a member and past president of the Kentucky Huguenot Society of Manakin, VA.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cora Potter, Louisville, and Carrie Skaggs, Shelbyville; one sister, Mary A. Rowland Curts, Louisville; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 6, at Spring Hill cemetery in Harrodsburg with Rev. Don Dilday officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Centenary United Methodist Church.
Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements.

DAVID GRIEVE
David L. Grieve, 59, of 1045 Bushtown Road, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, .
Born March 11, 1941 in Lawrence, OH, he was the son of the late George and Mabel Byers Grieve.
He had lived in West Virginia for several years, was a former truck driver and was a US Air Force veteran.
He was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Martha Cooke Grieve, Harrodsburg; three sons, David S. Grieve and Michael L. Grieve, both of Harrodsburg, David L. Grieve, Jr. of Weirton, WV; two daughters, Carissa Grieve, Richmond, Sharon Kirkpatrick, Wileyville, WV; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 2, 2001 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was Monday, March 5, at the Camp Nelson National cemetery in Nicholasville.

CONDIT JOHNSON
Condit B. Johnson, 89, of 2116 Talmage Mayo Road, died Monday, March 5, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born November 22, 1911 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas William and Nora Poulter Johnson.
He was a retired bridge crew member for Southern Railroad and was a member of the Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Johnson, Harrodsburg; two sons, Wendell Johnson, Mercer County, William Elton Johnson, Lexington; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Lloyd Johnson, seven brothers, George, Sanford, Ansel, Marvin, Collins, Stanley and John Johnson; eight sisters, Mary Helen Austin, Vergie Whitenack, Tillie Lucas, Pauline Smith, Bessie White, Zelma Johnson, Adeline Johnson, and Evelyn Johnson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 7, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Atha and Rev. Elwood Norton officiating. Burial was in the Mayo Cemetery.

VIRGIL PREWITT
Virgil Camden Prewitt, 75, of 795 Cane Run Street, died Thursday, March 1, 2001 at his residence.
Born April 3, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Gilford and Emma Weldon Prewitt.
He had worked as a meat cutter for Mark's Meats and served in the Army during world War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Prewitt, Harrodsburg; one son, Ron (Donna) Prewitt, Cincinnati, OH; three daughters, Patricia (Harvey) Sanders, and Marzetta (David) Brown, both of Cincinnati, OH, Rita (John) Marland, Somerset; two brothers, Jim Prewitt, Louisville, Bill Prewitt, Corinth; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Easterling officiating.
