Margie Pearl Lyens, 82, of 237 West Lane, died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born January 7, 1919 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Monroe Moore. She was the widow of Vaughn Lyens.
She was retired from Cricketeer Manufacturing after 37 years and was a former restaurant worker and a private sitter.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Ronald Gene Lyens, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Monroe, Rosie Hardin, Myrtie Hardin and Gladys Sadler.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 13, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Woodliff officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Long, Lyrc Perkins, James Brummett, Mike Dean, David King, and Keith Sadler.

JAMES PEAVLER
James T. Peavler, 72, of Lexington, MO, died Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
Born June 23, 1928 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Willie J. and Omie Camden Peavler.
He was retired from the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion in Lexington, MO;
Survivors include: his wife, Patty Peavler, Lexington, MO; two sons and two daughters, James T. Peavler, Jr., Lonnie Wayne Peavler, Debbie Bagley, and Brenda Jones, all of Lexington, MO; one brother, Everett M. Peavler, Garland, TX; one sister, Jewell Anderson, Danville; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Graveside services with military honors were held Monday, March 12, at Lexington Memory Gardens in Lexington, MO, with Rev. Aubrey Burk officiating. Burial was in Lexington Memory Gardens, Lexington, MO.
Memoials are suggested to Lexington Little League Baseball.

ROSA RUBY
Rosa Henry Ruby, 85, of 528 Beaumont Avenue, died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at her residence.
Born March 12, 1915 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Briget McCrystal Henry.
She worked as a jewelry store owner for R. and J. Jewelers. She was a former member of Business and Professional Women and St. Andrew Alter Society. She was a member of the Mercer County Humane Society and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include: one son, Joe Ruby, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Harriet Ruby, Mercer County; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and John Henry; five sisters, Retha Traynor, Lilly Henry, Isabele Henry, Sue Parker and Mattie Pearson.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, March 13, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joseph Muench officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris James, Gene Moore, Van Ruby, John Ruby, Jimmy Pearson and Brandon McKinney.

CLIFTON WELLS
Clifton Wells, 83, of Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born February 9, 1918 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Erastus and Bessie Walls Wells.
He was a retired employee of the Shinley Distillery and a farmer. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Antioch Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Elsie Scrogham Wells, Salvisa; two sons, Donnie C. (Jayne) Wells and Jackie Lynn (Christie) Wells, Sr., all of Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Joyce Wells (Maurice) Baker, Tucson, AZ; six sisters, Velma Drury and Ruby Drury, both of Anderson County, Sally Drury, Louisville, Dorothy Gowins, Mercer County, Oneida McGaughey, Frankfort and Gertie Satterly of Lawrenceburg; three brothers, Orbry Wells, Cletus Wells and Curtis Wells, all of Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Wells, and a brother, Clinton Wells.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 12, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. George Martin and Bro. Don Wells officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lynn Wells, Loren Wells, Mike Wells, Rodney Wells, Mike Smith and Jamie Young. Honorary bearers were Jim and Ronnie Wells.

EMMA YOCUM
Emma Jean Yocum, 78, of 1511 Versailles Road, Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday March 11, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born December 3, 1922 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Garfield Sallee Merriman. She was the widow of William Yocum.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Yocum, Versailles, Barry Yocum, Stow, OH; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Steve Cross, Ronnie Hupp and Wayne Stevenson officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Russell Yocum, Chris Yocum, Brent McGinnis, Dr. Robert A. Davenport, Donnie Lewis Sexton, Brian Sexton.

OPPIE BRAND
Oppie Lee Houze Brand, 89, of Tifton, GA, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Tift Health Care in Tifton, GA.
Born May 21, 1911 in Heard County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Gus A. and Katie Formby Houze. She was the widow of Rev. Garnie Brand, a former pastor at Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught at McAfee, and a member of Norman Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Betty (Buford) Noel, Harrodsburg, Dot B. Griffin, Norman Park, GA, and Phyllis (Joseph) Fletcher, Chula, GA; one brother, Woodson Houze, Forest Park, GA; six grandchildren, including David and Teresa Noel and Karen and Jeff Million, all of Harrodsburg; 12 great grandchildren, including Katherine Noel, Kacey Stout, Jay Thomas Million and Kassidy Million, all of Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Griffin, a great granddaughter, Madalyn Bennett, a son-in-law, Harold Griffin, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at Norman Park Baptist Church, Norman Park, GA, with Dr. Jimmy Voyles, Elder Jeff Harris and Rev. Paul Peace officiating. Burial was in Deep Bottom cemetery in Colquitt County.
Pallbearers were Eric Fletcher, Darin Purvis, David Noel, Mike Bennett, Joel Brand, Charles Houze and Jerry Breed. Honorary bearers were great grandsons, Hal Bennett, Joe Jernigan, Dylan Purvis and Jay Thomas Million.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.

HALLIE GREENE
Hallie Louise Greene, 83, of 350 Bonny Lynn Drive, died Thursday March 15, 2001, at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 29, 1917 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Lanta Mae Sims Reed. She was the widow of Clarence D. Greene.
She was a retired Shakertown employee, a charter member of the Pioneer Saddle Club, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was a member of Dry Branch Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years.
Survivors include: one son, Clarence A. Greene, Danville; one daughter, Patsy Hubble, Harrodsburg; one brother, Buell Reed, Junction City; one sister. Lilly Ross, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Releford officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were C. W. Greene, A. J. Greene, J. B. Reed, Maurice Reed, J. R. Greene and Lonnie Wayne Reed.

GERTRUDE KOBER
Gertrude Kober, 79, of Peoria, IL, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at her residence.
Born May 3, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of George and Maxine Lunsford Quinn. She was the widow of John G. Kober.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy Henninger, Burgin; one son, Donald Kober, Elkins, AR, 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Gipson, and three sisters.
She worked for Bemis Bag Co. for more than 20 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, at the Davison -Fulton Woodland Chapel in West Peoria, IL. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

FRANCES ROY
Frances Roy, 88, formerly of Burgin, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born January 20, 1913 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Emmit and Daisy Randolph Gadbery. She was a Baptist, an avid gardener and was the widow of Delmer N. Roy.
Survivors include: four sons, Coleman Roy, Clovis Roy, and Leon Roy, all of Harrodsburg, Tommy N. Roy, Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Fayrine Phillips of Cincinanti, Wahnetta M. King, St. Petersburg, FL; three sisters, Patsy Wesley, Casey County, Vernel Johnson and Lela Gadbery, both of FL; 12 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Stevie Releford, Steve Phillips, Mike Hughes, Robert Phillips, Larry Kuyper and Alex Reynolds.
