ANN WALLS

Ann L. Walls, 75, of 431 West Main Street, Burgin, died Friday, April 6, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born July 5, 1925 in Burgin, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Rose Fowler Keeling. She was the widow of Harlan Walls.

She was a former Mercer Dress employee, a retired Whirlpool employee, a member of the Burgin Baptist Church and the Active 70 and Older Sunday School Class.

Survivors include: one son, Harlan Wayne (Dixie) Walls, Burgin; one daughter, Peggy Ann (Billy Ray) Lucas, Burgin; three brothers, James C. Keeling, Burgin, Curtis (Anna Ruth) Keeling, Burgin, and Billy Eugene Keeling, Lancaster; one sister, Juanita (Robert) Moss, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Burchell Keeling.

Funeral services were heldMonday, April 9, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Jason Lucas, Daniel Lucas, Andrew Curtsinger, Stuart Woods, Keith Moss and Jeremy Thacker.

MARY WEST

Mary Katherine Dunn West, 60, of 130 Central Pike, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her residence.

Born November 29, 1940 in Grant County, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Hammons Dunn.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Gordon West, Harrodsburg; three sons, Jimmy L. (Leslie) West, Lexington, Gordon Ray (Sandy) West, Springfield, Billy J. (Stacy) West, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Elaine Smith, Lexington; two sisters, Fannie Miller and Peggy Halfhill, both of Owenton; one brother, Bennie Dunn, Owenton, nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Charlie and Jim Dunn.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, at the Rogers Funeral Home in Owenton with Rev. Mark Wilhoite officiating.

Pallbearers were Johnny Miller, Chad Dunn, Cody Dunn, Andrew Wagner, Jonathan Halfhill and Sam Robinson.

Memorials contributions are suggested to the Markey Cancer Center.

EDNA BURKS

Edna D. Burks, 96, of 3526 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, died Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Twinbrook Nursing Home in Louisville.

Born March 12, 1905 in Estill County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Cora Childers Smyth. She was the widow of Nathaniel Wilson Burks.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Southeast Church of Christ in Louisville.

Survivors include: two sons, Nathan L. Burks, Louisville, Harold S. Burks, Mercer County; two daughters, Mary Ann Gregory and Virginia Jo Rowe, both of Louisville; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road in Louisville, Saturday, April 14, with Bro. Paul Denny officiating. Burial was in Louisville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to Berea College, Berea, KY.

EULA CAPPS

Eula Faye Taylor Capps, 68, of 318 Court Street, Lawrenceburg, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.

A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late James Luther and Stella Roland Taylor and foster daughter of the late Bert and Nora Drury. She was the widow of Delmer Allen Capps.

She was a retired machine operator for Universal Fasteners and a member of the Fox Creek Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Kenny (Shirley) Hooper, Mercer County; one sister, Ruby Peavler, Harrodsburg; one brother, Joe Taylor, Lebanon; three half brothers, Johnny Taylor and Tommy Taylor, both of Anderson County, and Robert Taylor, Louisville; one foster brother, Herman Drury; two grandchildren; one step grandchild and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Taylor and a foster sister, Thelma Sims.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Don Wells and Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harold Cornish, Leon Drury, Vernon Drury, Dennis Worthington, Billy Hooper and Steve Cornish.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice, PO Box 1213, Danville, KY 40423.

Visitation will be from 5;00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:00 a.m. Thursday.

MATTIE COSLOW

Mattie Coslow, 89, formerly of Cardwell Street in Harrodsburg and Medco Health Care Manor in Springfield, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born November 27, 1911 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorkas Ross Baker. She was the widow of William "Willie" Coslow.

She was a housewife and a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ in Washington County.

Survivors include: four sons, Hughes Coslow, Cornishville, Scotty Coslow, Springfield, Harrison Coslow, Willisburg and Roger Coslow, Harrodsburg; six daughters, Barbara Ann Stumph, Harrodsburg, Blondella Yates, Springfield, Susie Mae Colvin, Charleston, IN, Lula Bell Sallee Burkhead, Harrodsburg, Nettie Rae Britton, Cornishville and Dorkas Jane Gullett, Harrodsburg; one brother, O. T. Baker, Harrodsburg; one sister, Dorothy Hilton, Springfield; 31 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Shirley Boyd; one grandson, Bryan Gullett; six brothers, George Baker, R. C. Baker, Norve Baker, Marshall Baker, Jay Baker and Cleo Baker.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley and Bro. John McDaniel officiating. Burial was in the Battle Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Coslow, Jeff Coslow, Kris Colvin, Craig Coslow, Junior Yates and Donnie Stumph. Honorary bearers were Gary Stumph, Mike Coslow, Terry Coslow, Kevin Sallee, Dennie Coslow, Jerry Colvin, Timmy Yates, Greg Britton and Alan Gullett.

VERNONCIE CUMMINS

Vernoncie Pearl Cummins, 88, of 604 Greenbriar Drive, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born January 2, 1913 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Nancy Susan Crain Bugg, and the widow of James William Cummins.

She was a retired Cricketeer employee and a private duty nurse. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Widow to Widow Support Group.

Survivors include: two sisters, Lillian Isham, Mercer County, Nancy Curtsinger, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mable Britton and Hazel Black Cochran.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Ransdell Funeral chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

PAUL CRAYCRAFT

Paul Woodford Craycraft, 67, of 113 Whitney Avenue, Lawrenceburg, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at his residence.

Born April 22, 1933 in Bourbon County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ethel Johnson Craycraft.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Local #181 in Henderson and was a member of the Corinth Christian Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane Barnes Craycraft, Lawrenceburg; two step sons, David Weber Jr., Lawrenceburg, Jason Weber, Versailles; two sisters, Virginia Davis, North Middletown, Ruth Frederick, Augusta, GA; two brothers, Clarence Craycraft Jr. and Doug Craycraft, both of Lexington; one granddaughter, two step grandsons. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Lane and Alma Combs.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Bobby Proctor officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.

Pallbearers were Forrest W. Davis, Forrest W. Davis Jr., Clarence Darnell, Clarence Pittman, Doug Craycraft Jr., Woody Barnes and Mike Davis. Honorary bearers were David Weber Jr., Jason Weber, Marshall Weber, Cameron Weber, Diane and Ronnie Thornton.

NORVAL FREELAND

Norval "Bugs" Freeland, 89, of Lexington Road, Wilmore, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Wesley Methodist Village in Wilmore.

Born May 29, 1911 in Dowagiac, MI, he was the son of the late Frank and Lena Gloxine Freeland.

He worked as a graphic artist for Standard Gravure in Louisville. He was a member of Elks Lodge (Dowagiac, MI) and attended Free Methodist Church in Wilmore.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: one son, Tom (Maribeth) Freeland, Harrodsburg; one sister, Laoma Rickard, Kalamazoo, MI; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, April 14 at the Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, MI.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

CORA LOWHORN

Cora Lee Lowhorn, age 69, of 129 Center Street, Danville, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at her residence.

Born March 15, 1932 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Nolan and Florence Lyons Cheatham.

She was a former member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary of Boyle County and a member of the Moreland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Calvin Jeffries, TX; three daughters, Ann Woodard, Lancaster, Elizabeth Faulkner, Danville, Eva Holt, Harrodsburg; one brother, Harry "Butch" Cheatham, Harrodsburg; one sister, Doris Sanford, Mercer County; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Nolan Cheatham, Robert Joe Cheatham, and one sister, Mildred Alice Cheatham.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edgar Richards, Thomas Ellis, Ronnie Davis II, Keith Royalty, Phillip Russell and Ronnie Davis. Honorary bearers were David Richards and Alisha Gooch.
