HARLAN LITTLE

Harlan Little, 74, of 121 North Lane, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born February 8, 1927 in Jackson, he was the son of the late Nim and Lillie McIntoch Little.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Scharbourgh, Harrodsburg; and two brothers, Henry Little and Luther Little.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lewis Walter officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Mercer County Comprehensive Care or Mercer County Senior Citizens.

RONNIE McGUIRE

Ronnie Lee McGuire, 55, Hill Rise Court, Lexington, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.

Born April 20, 1946 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William and Flora Mae Tyler McGuire.

He was a former Rand McNally employee and a US Army veteran.

Survivors include: his daughter, Jennifer Lea Gordon, Lexington; one niece, Karen McGuire, Harrodsburg; two aunts, Dorothy Stuhler, Louisville, Mary Rigney, Lexington; one uncle, Charles McGuire, Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Ora B. McGuire, who raised him, and an uncle, Marvin McGuire.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Releford officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were R. J. Holt, Roy Holt, Jerry Holt, Shane Gordon, Lionel Gordon and Bobby O'Neill.

MARY MAYES

Mary P. Mayes, 84, of 345 Runyon Road, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical center in Danville.

Born January 27, 1917 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Cammie Patterson Phillips.

She was a retired teacher for the Harrodsburg School District and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

She was a Georgetown College graduate, a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and was a member of the Mercer Retired Teachers Association, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the Harrodsburg Woman’s Club.

Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Marie Mayes, Harrodsburg.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Spring Hill cemetery with Rick Snyder officiating.

Memorials are suggested to Georgetown College or the Mercer County Humane Society.

There will be no visitation.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

WENONAH SMITH

Wenonah Smith, 82, of 1889 Rosemont, Berkley, MI, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born March 6, 1919 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Verner and Bessie Kirkland Carlson.

She was a co-owner of Limepole Book Store in Detroit. She was a member of St. David Episcopal Church, a member of the Detroit Yacht Club and was a registered nurse.

Survivors include: a daughter-in-law, Pam Tovey, Harrodsburg, two grandchildren, Benjamine William Smith and Tiffany Lee Smith. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen E. Smith.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, Berkley, MI. Burial was in the Roseland Park cemetery in Berkley.

Memorials are suggested to Mariner's Church or St. David Episcopal Church in Berkley, MI.

EVERETT WORLEY

Everett (Bunk) Moore Worley, 85, of 8998 Danville Road, Perryville, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born August 22, 1915 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie Houp Worley. He was the widower of Martha Worley.

He was a retired founder and operator for Perryville Furniture Mart, where he worked for 40 years. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

Survivors include: one son, Sammy Worley, Lexington, three daughters, Barbara Brummett, and Mary Dell Morgan, both of Perryville, Martha Moore Gray, Harrodsburg; one sister, Gladys Coyle, Perryville; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the Perryville Baptist Church with Jeff Pratt and Chris Brummett officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be members of his Sunday School Class.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Perryville Baptist Church Building Fund or the E. M. Worley Memorial Fund.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville and after Noon at the church on Thursday.

J. C. CANNON

J. C. Cannon, 84, of 345 W. Office Street, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born January 31, 1917 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late John William and Myrtie Jane Leonard Cannon.

He was a retired farmer and an employee of Art Roberts Tobacco Warehouse for 30 years.

He was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include: his wife, Lola Mae Votaw Cannon, Harrodsburg; a foster daughter, Janet Baker, Lincoln County; one sister, Christine Cannon, Harrodsburg; one foster granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Ann Cannon, one brother, Shannon Cannon, and a sister, Kathyleen Cannon.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2001 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Hahn and Jonathan Ellis officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Bradshaw, Richard Watts, Bob McFatridge, Ron Short, Ronnie Bradford and Bob Bishop. Honorary bearers were Robert Wise, James Norton, Harold Sutherland, Glendon Demaree, Buddy Shirley, Haldon Goodlett and Genie Sims.

ARTMAN HAMLIN Jr.

Artman Hamlin Jr., 60, of Shepherdsville, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.

Born December 9, 1940 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Artman and Pauline Crick Hamlin.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 181 and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Shepherdsville.

Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Hamlin, Shepherdsville; a step mother, Mae Hamlin, Mercer County; two sons, Sonny and B. J. Hamlin, Mercer County; four daughters, Angie Pence, Gail and Missy Maddox, and Catrina Hamlin; three step sons, Ricky, Rocky and Rodney Druin; two stepdaughters, Randi Cooksey and Rhonda Davenport; two brothers, Ronnie Hamlin and Bob Richmond, both of Mercer County; four sisters, Alline Dean, Louisville, Virginia Nichols, Mercer County, Patricia Marrs, Macon, GA and Gladys Long, London; several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 18, at the Hardy-Close Funeral Home, Shepherdsville with burial and committal services in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Mercer County.

MILDRED HENDREN

Mildred Riley Hendren, 93, of 105 South Buell, Perryville, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born July 18, 1907 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John Harrison Riley and the late Lula Peters Riley.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Mackville Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, John Harrison Hendren, Clarksville, IN; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Heritage Hospice, 337 W. Broadway, Danville, KY 40422.

Visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

ARNOLD McCRYSTAL

Arnold Matthew McCrystal, 72, died December 20, 2000, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Born February 17, 1928 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Matthew and Kathleen McCrystal. He was the widower of Barbara Jean King McCrystal.

He operated an auto body shop in Harrodsburg for 20 years and also served in the Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant.

Survivors include: five sons, Steven, Ronald, Larry, Michael and Jeffrey; two daughters, Karen Ahrens and Sandra Huesing; two brothers, Bernard and Bill; four sisters, Doris, Rebecca, Loretta and Margarite; 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
