Roxie Louise Driskell, 59, of Inyokern, CA, died Sunday, June 17, 2001 in California.
Born November 15, 1941 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Edna Mae Searcy Driskell of Anderson County and the late Jasper Clark ”Sparky” Driskell.
She was a 1960 graduate of Western High School in Anderson County, a secretary, and a member of the Mt. Hebron Methodist Church in Mercer County.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: two daughters, Lisa Colleen Burns, Inyokern, CA, Terri Louise Fowler, Van Nuys, CA; three brothers, Rodger Driskell, Harry Driskell and Stephen Driskell, all of Anderson County; five sisters, Mrs. Kenny (Nancy) Cox, Harrodsburg; Mrs. Raymond (Vena) Bowen, Mercer County, Mrs. David (Billie) Stierle, Shelbyville; Mrs. John (Patsy) Brown, Lawrenceburg and Mrs. John (Rose Mary) Sewell, Frankfort; three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daren Driskell and a sister, Della Driskell.

ELMER HAYSLETT
Elmer Clyde Hayslett, 77, of Burgin, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Mary Hayslett Elkins and Joseph Houston Hayslett.
He was a farmer, a retired Kentucky Utilities maintenance foreman, and a member of the Burgin United Methodist Church.
He was a former Burgin Fire Chief, a veteran of World War II, past Master of T. N. Wise Masonic Lodge 349 and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include: his wife, Patsy Wilham Hayslett, Burgin; one son, Elmer Clyde “Buster” Hayslett II, Oxnard, CA; three daughters, Patsy Diane Hayslett Camden, Danville, Mary Helen “Priss” Hayslett Austin, Burgin, and Leigh Ison Hayslett McRay, Mercer County; one half sister, Josephine Hayslett Parlow, Memphis, TN; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his foster parents, William and Annelle Ison, one sister, Della Coleman, five brothers, Robert, Fred, Gilbert, Joseph and William Hayslett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Douglas Lester and Bro. Scott George officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Gardens with military rites.
Pallbearers will be Sherman Camden II, Luke Austin, Brian Bartley, Adam McRay, Jerry Thacker and Roy Cochran. Honorary bearers will be nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Burgin United Methodist Church or Heritage Hospice.

ELEANOR JAMES
Eleanor V. James, 86, of Springhill, FL died January 19, 2001.
Born in Kentucky she resided in Florida for the last 42 years.
She was a homemaker and a long time member of Brooksville Christian Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Albert L. James, New Port Richey, FL, Ken (Sandy) James, Rochester, WA, John (Frances) James, Valrico, FL; three sisters, Louise Wilson, Somerset, Edith Barnes, Shelbyville, IN, Betty (Arnold) McClendon, Faubush; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Life Path Hospice or Church of choice.

CECIL LEE
Cecil Elwood Lee, 80, of 858 Scooter Avenue, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born September 18, 1920 in Kentucky, he was the son of the late James and Mary Gill Lee.
He was a retired assembly worker for General Motors of Euclid, OH and was a member of Church of God/Cleveland, OH.
He was an army veteran having served from 1942 to 1945.
Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Lee, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Lewis Walter officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Huffman, Dale Harstine, Tim Slaughter, Jason Mayne, Johnny Mayne and Robert Anglin.

CHRISTOPHER WRIGHT
Christopher Allen Wright, 47, of 1801 Danville Road, died Monday, June 18, 2001 at Stanford House in Stanford.
Born December 24, 1953 in Danville, he was the son of Robert F. Wright and the late Arah E. Langford Wright.
He had been disabled since 1969. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include: three brothers, Bobby Wright, Escondido, CA, Harvey (Tracey) Wright, Lexington, and Joe (Sheri) Wright, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the chapel from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to service on Friday.

KENNETH COFFMAN
Kenneth “Sonny” Coffman, 65, of 885 Goshen Road, Stanford, died Saturday, June 23, 2001 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Aug. 20, 1935 in Danville, he was the son of the late McKee and Tabitha Christerson Coffman.
He worked as a supervisor for GTE and was a 1957 graduate of Danville High School.
He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and an army veteran.
Survivors include: three brothers, Bob (Phyllis) Coffman, Harrodsburg, William Donald (Bessie) Coffman, St. Petersburg, FL and Ralph Coffman, Sr., Lexington.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 26, at the Burgin Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Peyton officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Chuck Devine, Ralph Coffman, Jr., Nick Coffman, Donnie Coffman, Scott Coffman and Bobby Christerson.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.

MILITARY RITES
Military Rites for Clyde Hayslett were held at Burgin Memorial Gardens on June 23 by members of the American Legion Post 52, DAV Chapter 54, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6935.
Attending were Tom Denny, James Carey, Preston Burgin, Curtis Sherrow, Lucian Landers, Joe Harlow and Marion Mershon.
William Gravely served as bugler.

HARNEY HOWARD Jr.
Harney Howard, Jr., 74, of Burgin Road, died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1926 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late H. G. and Grace Weber Howard.
He was a farmer, a real estate agent for Ronald Hurst Co., and a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church in Woodford County.
He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include: three sons, Perry Wayne Howard, Jimmy Gill Howard and Steven Lynn Howard, all of Mercer County; one daughter, Joy Sue Howard, Harrodsburg; eight sisters, Dorothy Cox, Viola Beasley and Etta Harley, all of Lawrenceburg; Betty Scrogham, Graffenburg; Gussie Burns, Waynesburg; Gertrude Smith, Danville; Patsy Turner, Versailles; and Doris Karnezis, Indianapolis; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Brandy Howard, and one sister, Starlene Wiecek.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. J. H. Burns and Bro. Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Roger Cox, Delbert Cox, Jr., Bobby Cox, Richard Bottoms, Tony Perkins, Kenny McCoun, Bobby Carpenter and Willard Huffman. Honorary bearers were Joe Kelty, Sonny Carroll, Truman Curtsinger, Edwin King, John Preston, Danny Noel and Brennan Royalty.

MARGARET SHEWMAKER
Margaret Bisset Shewmaker, 85, of 731 Allin Drive, Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at her home.
Born April 10, 1916, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Pearl Strader Bisset.
She was a homemaker and the widow of John B. Shewmaker. She was a member of Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: four sons, David L. Shewmaker, Harrodsburg, John B. Shewmaker, Bethesda, MD, James (Jay) Shewmaker, Harrodsburg, Stephen M. Shewmaker, Athens, GA; one daughter, Pat Duffy, Harrodsburg, and two sisters, Martha Clay, Danville, and Eugenia Carpenter, London, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Bisset, and a sister, Katherine Comer Hyams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2001 at 4 p.m. at the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Contini officiating. Visitation at the church after 3 p.m. Saturday.
