JOE MILLER

Joe Mitchell Miller, 69, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born July 13, 1932 in Louisa, he was the son of the late J. Fred and Ella Short Miller.

He was a retired block operator for Consolidated Railroad and a member of Louisa Methodist Church.

He was also a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, Venus Lodge #152 of Mansfield, OH, Valley of Columbus Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Columbus, OH, Richland County Scottish Rite, Mansfield, OH, Oleika Temple, Wilderness Shrine Club, Harrodsburg Order of The Eastern Star #309 and Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #270 of Louisa.

He was also a member of the Mercer-Anderson Radio Club and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane Y. Miller, Harrodsburg; one son, Joe (Regina) William Miller, Huber Heights, OH; one brother, Carl (Geneva) Miller, Ashland; one sister, Elizabeth Layne, Russell. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

A Masonic service was held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rick Snyder and Jim Hogue officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Hogue, Gene Lawson, J. B. Reed, Ed Hudson, Scott Moseley and Bob Miller.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Children Hospital, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

ZELMA PEARSALL

Zelma Louise Doneghy Pearsall, 54, of 311 Litsey Avenue, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born July 11, 1947 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Zelma Cunningham Doneghy. She was the widow of Nate Pearsall.

She was a graduate of Mercer County High School and Fugazzi Business College, a caterer for Dunn's Barbecue of Harrodsburg and a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one brother, James E. Doneghy, Charlotte, NC; one aunt, Bessie Cunningham, Harrodsburg, a companion, Mike Newson, Harrodsburg.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, at Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin, with Bro. Phil Yates officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl and Larry Bartleson, Kevin Doneghy, James Dunn, Walter Meaux and Alvin L. White.

Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

GRACE REYNOLDS

Grace Juan Williams Reynolds, 88, formerly of Detroit, MI, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at her residence in Columbia, TN.

A native of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Mary Bottoms Williams. She was the widow of John "J. T." Green and Ozzie Reynolds.

She was a retired RN from the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Henry J. (Susan Park) Beale of Columbia, TN; two step children, Larry (Maria) Reynolds, Mexico and Madeline Martin, Southville, MI; seven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Geneva Smith and a brother, Laconia Williams.

A memorial service was held at the Williams Funeral Home, Columbia, TN, Wednesday, January 16 with Rev. Patrick Conner officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date at the Grand Lawn cemetery in Detroit, MI.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 502 N. Garden St., Columbia, TN 38401 or the Maury County Unit of the American Cancer Society.

JAMES ROBINSON

James Carroll Robinson, 60, of Park Lane, Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.

Born June 4, 1941 in Anderson County, he was the son of Dorothy Shouse Robinson Casey of Lawrenceburg and the late James Edward Robinson.

He was a retired tool and die maker for General Electric in Louisville, a farmer and a minister at Turnersville Christian Church and McCormick Christian Church in Lincoln County and Leitchfield Christian Church.

He was a member, elder, deacon and song leader of Anderson Christian Church, a 4-H leader and a Ham Radio operator.

He was a 1959 graduate of Anderson County High School and a graduate of Louisville Bible College with a degree in Sacred Literature.

He served in the Army Reserves, 100th Division, from 1961-1965 in the Cuban Conflict in Arkansas where he was an honorary Sharpshooter.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his step father, James Casey, Lawrenceburg; his wife, Jo Ann Purvis Robinson; one daughter, Tina (Nelson) Thompson, Harrodsburg; one son, Tim (Susan Bowman) Robinson, Lawrenceburg; two foster sons, Mitch Simpson, London and Tony Simpson, Harrodsburg; one brother, Stewart "Tookie" (Bernice) Robinson, Lawrenceburg; one sister, Melissa (Robert) Wiley, Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Gene Welsh and Bro. Vernon Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Aldridge, Lloyd Aldridge, Bill Decker, Nelson Thompson, Charlie Crain and Steve Foster. Honorary bearers will be Jim Shouse, Charles Wells, Bill and Lorain Robinson, Bobby Ritter, Stewart and Bernice Robinson, Jimmy Stewart and April Robinson, Robert and Melissa Wiley, James and Dorothy Casey, Nelson Hawkins, Tim and Susan Robinson, Tina Thompson, Connie Chilton, Glenda Claunch, Bret Foster, Kevin Cunningham, Jeff and Mary McDowell, Dr. Michele Welling and Joetta Jouett.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Anderson Christian Church Benevolence Fund, 1631 US 127 Bypass South, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

Visitation from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3 at the chapel.

CASEY STILES

Casey T. Stiles, 42, 460 Palisades Road, husband of Luann Stiles, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, in an aircraft crash in a field in Boyle County.

Arrangements are incomplete at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington.

MARY WHITTAKER

Mary Frances Whittaker, 78, of 1864 Bohon Road, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 at her residence.

Born December 4, 1923 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Steve and Minnie Pearl Fathergill Gayhart. She was the widow of Garnett G. Whittaker.

She was a retired seamstress for Mercer Dress and a retired cook for Mercer County Schools. She was a member of Gunns Chapel in Garrard County.

Survivors include: three sons, Dan (Kathy) Whittaker, John Whittaker and Wayne (Helen) Whittaker, all of Harrodsburg; four daughters, Gayle (J. W.) Fister, Lexington and Wanda (Steve) Crane, Etta Mae (Freddie) Bugg and Shirley (Billy) Taylor, all of Harrodsburg; one grandson she raised, Billy Dean (Lois) Whittaker; one sister, Corrine Nichols, Paris; six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a son, Jackie James Whittaker; a grandson, John William (Will) Fister, III; four brothers, W. C., Roland, Oakley, and Carl Gayhart; two sisters, Rosie Gayhart and Jewell Richards.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Vinyard, Scott McGinnis, Randy McGinnis, Mike Darland, Tim Darland and Rodney Click. Honorary bearers were Lee Howard Releford, Billy Hollar, Phillip Durr, Bobby Ross, Jimmy Keller, Kenneth Whittaker, Othel Browning and Rufus Carr.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.

JACOB BOSWELL

Jacob Elwood Boswell, 59, of Kays Road, Mercer County, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at his residence.

Born December 11, 1942 in Boyle County, he was the son of Mary Margaret Sherrow Boswell of Washington County and the late Jacob Boswell.

He had worked on farms and was a member of the Battle Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Irene Perry Boswell, Mercer County; three brothers, Johnny Boswell and Willie Dale Boswell, both of Washington County, Noble Boswell, Mercer County; five sisters, Marie Reynolds, Carolyn Buck, Mary Lou Henry, all of Mercer County, Sue Shearer, Washington County, and Cleta Boswell, Broken Arrow, OK. He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Edwin "Tommy" Boswell.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Williams officiating. Burial was in Battle Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Freddie Boswell, Brian Boswell, Travis Boswell, Hobert Combs, Alvin Buck, Jimmy Buck, and Billy Boswell.

MARTHA DEVINE

Martha C. Devine, 66, of Alexander Drive, Danville, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at her residence.

Born December 18, 1935 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lyndsey and Gertie Lewis Devine.

She was a former employee of Corning Glass Works in Harrodsburg and a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Leona Royalty-Berg of Harrodsburg, Vicki Devine and Debbie Burton, both of Danville; one sister, Leona Elliott, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 25 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Paul Readnour and Rev. Jim McCarroll officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald and Ott Elliott, Ed Berg, Scott Burton, Buddy Shirley and William Thompson.

GARY FALLIS

Gary Ray Fallis, 22, of Fairview Road, Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, January 19, 2002 in Anderson County from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born August 30, 1979 in Frankfort, he was the son of Nathan Brothers and the late Patricia Ann Fallis Brothers.

He worked for Walters Buildings in Anderson County.

Survivors in addition to his father, include: one sister, Heather Brothers, Lawrenceburg; one brother, Tyler Brothers, Lawrenceburg; paternal grandparents, J. T. and Margaret Brothers, Lawrenceburg; maternal grandfather, Ray Fallis, Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mary Fallis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 22, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Hebert officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Church cemetery in Mercer County.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 8:00 am. Tuesday.
