Mary Rose Mefford Brock, 93, of 207 Suzanne Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born May 14, 1908 in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Elizabeth Dougherty Mefford. She was the widow of John Joseph Brock.
She was a homemaker, a member of the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church and a 1926 graduate of Midway High School.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Wainscott, Lawrenceburg; one son, John (Norma) Brock, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Beck, a grandson, Barry Brock, and two brothers, Joseph and Mark Mefford.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 16, at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg with Father Charles McDonald officiating. A prayer service was held Friday. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Thomson, Mark D. Brock, John M. Brock, Joe Wainscott, Jeff Wainscott, and Robert Mefford. Honorary bearers were John Fister, Dr. Norman Fisher, Jim Smith, Bobby Mefford, William L. Huff Jr., O. H. Gritton Jr., Jim Speray and Paul Beck.

ELIZABETH DAVIS
Elizabeth W. Davis, 94, of Westview Manor, Wooster, OH, died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Westview Manor, in Wooster.
Born September 21, 1907 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas V. and Lula Nichols Warner. She was the widow of McKinley Davis.
She was a retired school teacher from Rose Hill and Harrodsburg Schools, having taught for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teacher's Association, National Retired Teacher's Association and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
She was a member of the Christian Church and had served as an elder in the First Christian Church of Venice, FL for a number of years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy (Bill) Dilzell, Wooster, OH; one son, William Mac (Ann) Davis, Broken Arrow, OK; three sisters, Agnes (James) Adkinson, Ft. Myers, FL, Virginia (Clyde) Baker, Lexington, and Annell Claunch, Harrodsburg; one brother, Stuart (Frances) Warner, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Ball and three brothers, Everett, Joe and Brite Warner.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

DONNA GRIFFIN
Donna R. Griffin, 54, of Jim Forsythe Lane, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at her residence.
Born November 7, 1947 in Miami, FL, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Irene Alexander.
She had been a registered nurse for the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor, attended Southside Christian Church and was a graduate of Lexington Community College.
She enjoyed reading, scuba diving and bingo.
Survivors include: her husband, William Griffin Sr., Harrodsburg; two sons, Michael Gary McDonald, Jessup, GA, Gregory Scott McDonald, Vista, CA; one daughter, Cheryl Kate McLemore, Stanford; two step sons, Robert Griffin, Wellington, KS and William Griffin Jr., Lexington; one step daughter, Judy Tate, Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren and eight step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Moore officiating. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Wayne King, David King, Jerry Fowler, William Griffin, Jr., Russell Collins and Timmy Griffin.

CLYDE HAWTHORNE
Clyde Hawthorne, 84 of 235 Seaville Road, died Friday, March 15, 2002 at the Beehive Homes in Lawrenceburg.
Born February 26, 1918 in Anderson County he was the son of the late Virgil and Lydia Martin Hawthorne Case.
He was a farmer, a member, elder, past treasurer, and song leader for over 60 years at the Fairview Christian Church in Washington County.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Hawthorne, Harrodsburg; one brother, James (Nancy) Hawthorne, Harrodsburg; one sister, Edith (Clinton Ray) Springate, Shively; a brother-in-law, Silva Stoner Jr., Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Stoner, two brothers, Marvin Hawthorne and Paul Marvin Hawthorne, and his step father, Ike Case.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 17, at the Fairview Christian Church with Bro. George Martin and Bro. Harry Hebert officiating. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Dayle Hawthorne, Tony Chesser, Carl Stoner, Tony Springate, Davy Warford, Virgil Hawthorne, Gregory Sea, and James Wilson. Honorary bearers were the deacons and elders of Fairview Christian Church.
Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg was in charge of arrangements.

RUTH HYLEN
Ruth E. Hylen, 72, of West Hill Terrace, Painted Post, NY, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at The Waters of Three Rivers in Painted Post.
Born July 11, 1929 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Eugenia Corey Tillman.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Painted Post where she had been an Elder and Sunday School teacher.
She was a substitute teacher and reading assistant for the Corning-Painted Post School district, a tour guide for the Corning Museum of Glass, had been a Girl Scout leader and loved quilting.
Survivors include: her husband, Richard W. Hylen, Painted Post, NY; one daughter, Beth Hylen, Corning, NY; one son, Peter Hylen, Lexington, KY; one brother, Mike Tillman, Clearwater, FL; one sister, Marian (Gilmore) MacNeill, Buchanan, MI; one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Hylen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of Painted Post, 201 N. Hamilton Street, with Rev. Stephen D. Sibson officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post.

SARA PEYTON
Sara Katherine Lynn Peyton, 56, of Ottenheim, formerly of Junction City, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehab.
Born July 16, 1945 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Howard and Montie Wilson Lynn.
She worked at American Greetings and was a Baptist.
Survivors include: her husband, Thomas 'Pete' Peyton, Ottenheim; one son, Vince Duwayne Peyton, Danville; one daughter, Fay Peyton, Danville; two brothers, Paul Norman Lynn and James Earl Lynn Sr., both of Danville; three sisters, Dorothy Wilcher, Salvisa, Patty Kimberling and Betty Baugh, both of Parksville; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland with Rev. Cleo Cox officiating. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scottie Smith, David Lynn, Wayne Kimberling, Joey Savage Sr., Joey Savage Jr. and Jimmy Lynn. Honorary bearer was Shane Yocum.

PAUL SALLEE
Paul M. Sallee, 78, Middletown, OH, died Friday, February 8, 2002 at Hospice of Dayton.
Born December 3, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James Oliver and Nancy Elizabeth Harlow Sallee.
He was an army veteran of World War II, having served with the 802nd 'Tank Destroyer Battalion' under General George Patton.
He retired from Armco Steele Company as a dispatcher with 30 years of service.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as assistant secretary of the Sunday School and was treasurer of the Kennagers Senior Citizens Group.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucille B. Sallee, Middletown, OH; one son, Wayne (Debbie) Sallee, Carlisle, OH; one daughter, Brenda (Curtis) Fatyol, Lowell, IN; two brothers, James Sallee, Louisville, and Tom Sallee, of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, at Calvary Baptist Church, Middletown, OH with Rev. Art Wilson and Rev. Larry Dearth officiating. Burial was in Butler County Memorial Park.

ROBERT SHANNON
Robert 'Bob' Shannon, 68, of Louisville, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at his residence.
Born September 26, 1933 in Henry County, he was the son of Edith and Frank Hieatt.
He was a retired employee of the Kaiser Floor Company and a member of Southeast Christain Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillie McMullin Shannon, Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg; his mother-in-law, Hazel Long, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Victoria) Takach, Oldham County; one son, D. Scott Shannon, Houston, TX; two brothers, David Hieatt, Columbia, SC and Larry Hieatt, Louisville; two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 11 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Louisville with Rev. Bob Russell officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville.

CHARLES DAVIS
Charles E. Davis, a native of Mercer County and a resident of Plano, Texas, was born October 9, 1931, and died March 17, 2002 after a long illness.
He was the son of the late Herbert and Ruby Harlow Davis. Davis is survived by his wife Mary Duggan Davis, two sons; Kenneth (Tonya) Davis, Arlington, TX, Gerald (Johnetta) Davis, Tulsa, OK; daughter, Lynne (Cliff) Fiske, Mesquite TX; four grandchildren, Jake, Jerrica, Will and Jonathan Davis; one sister, Barbara Kincaid, Lexington; an aunt, Sister Mary Gemma Harlow, Sisters of Charity, Nazareth; a nephew, Steve (Christy) Kincaid; a niece, Kimberly Blackford, both of Lexington; two great-nieces; stepsister, Margaret Adkinson, Harrodsburg. Besides his parents, He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Brewer Davis, a stepbrother, Donald Murphy and his stepmother Mary Davis.
Davis served in Vietnam and retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant.
