Thelma Durr Stine, 86, formerly of Sharpsville Lane, Washington County, died Sunday, October 15, 2000 at Norton Springview Hospital in Lebanon.
Born August 17, 1914 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lionell Jackson and Effie Ray Durr Pearson. She was the widow of Thurman Stine.
She was a retired farmer, Mercer Dress employee and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Danny Ray Stine, Washington County; one sister, Mrs. Eva Mae Pearson, Robinson, IL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Lee Stine Baker; three brothers, Randall Pearson, Emmitt Pearson and William Theodore Pearson.
Funeral services were held, October 18, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Geurin officiating. Burial was in Willisburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Ray Stine, Jr., Jackie Robinson, Jeff Grigsby, Johnnie Grigsby, John Yazell and Todd Noel. Honorary bearers were Carl Noel, Donnie Coulter and Johnnie Routin.
CHARLES ALLENDER
Charles E. Allender, 80, of 439 W. Court Street, Burgin, died Monday, October 16, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born January 10, 1920 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late John C. and Amanda Eldridge Allender.
He was a retired farmer, a World War II army veteran, having served in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Burgin High School and the U. S. School of Agriculture.
He was a member of the Burgin Christian Church, a former member of the Burgin Lions Club, an ASC board member and a member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include: his wife, Ada Walters Allender, Burgin; one son, Gary E. Wiley, Danville; one daughter, Glenda Blevins, Danville; one brother, Robert Allender, Loveland, OH; one sister, Sara Allender Brown, McAfee; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and John Allender, and one sister, Mary Ann Moore.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Gearhart officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hurley, Dick Cheak, David Moore, Delbert Walters and David Dinsmore. Honorary bearers will be J. D. Robinson, Dean Dearinger, Steven Stewart, Mike Callini, Christian Wiley, Dane Wiley and G. T. Shannon.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of service.
RUBY CRAIG
Ruby Hurst Craig, 78, of 459 Sycamore Court, died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at her residence.
Born October 28, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Betty Carey Hurst. She was the widow of Oscar Craig.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Chester Craig, Lexington, and Steven Craig, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Linda Holt and Anita Bowman, both of Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Fred Haston Wilham, Jr., one daughter, Geneva Rider; five brothers, Carl, Cecil, John, Jackie and Ralph "Bookus" Hurst, three sisters, Christine McGinnis, Geneva Wilham and Marie Shelton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 17, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. John Westerfield officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randy McGinnis, Willie Turpin, Johnny Rider, Butch Wilham, Gary Tackett and Bobby Hurst.
VERGIE BROWN
Vergie Stratton Brown, 88, of 100 Jennifer Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Monday, October 16, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born July 24, 1912 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison and Minnie Ann Goodlett Stratton. She was the widow of Marvin D. Brown.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Anderson Christian Church and a former member of the Fox Creek Homemakers.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. William (Joyce) Stucker, Lawrenceburg; two sons, Glenn (Cecelia) Brown, Salvisa, Bruce (Jackie) Brown, South Lake, TX; one sister, Mrs. Geneva Cox, Mercer County; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stratton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 18, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Vernon Huber and Bro. Johnny Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Shearer, Thomas Canary, David Brown, Gregory Brown, Robby Shearer, Richy Shearer, Rick Bowers and J. B. Stratton. Honorary bearers were Alvin and Nellie Drury, Garnett and Linda Chilton, Ronnie and Margaret Peach.

CHLOE KING
Chloe Evans King, 69, of 151 S. Magnolia Street, died Friday, October 13, 2000 at her residence.
Born October 10, 1931 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Monta Propps Evans.
She was retired from Haggin Memorial Hospital, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, and a scout leader for a number of years.
She was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of BPW.
Survivors include: her husband, Irvin King, Harrodsburg; one son, Gary Devine, Harrodsburg; three step sons, Dennis and Jeff King, both of OH, and Buddy King, FL; one daughter, Patty Bryant, Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Cheryl Stamper, FL; three brothers, R. C. and Earl Evans, both of Casey County, and Mac Evans, OH; three sisters, Jean Holt, Lillian Sutherland and Ruth Tucker, all of Casey County; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Roy and Delmer Evans.
Funeral services were held, October 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Releford officiating. Burial was in the Green River Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis King, Jeff King, Buddy King, Clay Devine, John Devine and Josh Devine.
DOROTHY BURIAN
Dorothy Eugenia Burian, 79, of 3855 Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at Vencor, Louisville.
Born January 2, 1921 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Jeanette Bodinof. She was the widow of Milton Burian.
She had worked as head cashier in the banking industry.
Survivors include: one brother, Bob Bodinof, Harrodsburg; one sister, Joyce Phillips, Cocoa Beach, FL.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Larry Redding officiating. A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 14, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

JOANN GEORGE
Joann George, 68, of Holton, KS, died Monday, October 16, 2000.
She was the sister of Mrs. Ludema Scott of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, KS.
JEAN MILTON
Jean H. Milton, 74, of 838 Mackville Road, died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 19, 1925 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late James Lee and Ruby Shewmaker Overall, Sr.
She had worked as a Head Start teacher for Mackville School and was a member of the Mackville Christian church.
Survivors include: her husband, Lucian Milton, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Donna Warner, Huntsville, AL, Beverly Davis, Harrodsburg, and Kathy Walker, New Milton, CT; two brothers, Forrest Overall, Jacksonville, NC and James Overall Jr. Wetumpka, AL; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Milton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Readnour officiating.
Pallbearers were Pamela Merchant, Stacey Warner, Jymie Young, Cameron Walker, Shawn Warner, Luciana Davis and Callie Walker.

HENRY BOHON
A memorial service for Henry M. Bohon will be held on Saturday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Harrodsburg Christian Church, 305 South Main St.
He was born July 8, 1915 in Harrodsburg. He died September 12, 2000 at his home in Winter Park, FL.
In July 1980 he retired as vice-president of the Mercer County National Bank, where he had worked 40 years.
He served in various civic capacities, including Treasure of the Harrodsburg Board of Education and the Mercer County Fair and Horse Show. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, where he served as Treasurer for many years.
He attended Centre College and was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Harp Bohon.
CHARLES FAULKNER
Charles Adolph (Ross) Faulkner, 79, of 100 Shaker Points Drive, Danville, died Friday, October 13, 2000 at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
Born October 3, 1921, he was a native of Mercer County.
Survivors include: two brothers, Sam Banks, Sr., Hot Springs, AR, and Eugene Faulkner, Burgin; one sister, Mrs. Bell Coward, Louisville; a half sister, Yvonne Faulkner, Cincinnati, OH; one aunt, Mrs. Stella Brown, Harrodsburg and a niece, Mrs. James (Mary) Patton, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock, Friday, October 20, at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
TILLIE SIMS
Tillie Springate Sims, 86, of Raleigh, NC died at her home October 19, 2000.
Born May 12, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Addie Springate of Seaville and the widow of Sherman Sims.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh and a homemaker.
Survivors include: a son, Doyle Wayne Sims, and a daughter, Betty Jane Sims, one granddaughter, all of Raleigh, NC and one grandson of Hawaii.
Funeral services were at the Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh with burial in Raleigh on Saturday, October 21.
