Christine Proctor, 81, of 400 Pleasant Hill Drive, Burgin, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 13, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Atwood and Hattie Smith Proctor.
She was a retired teacher from Burgin Independent Schools, having taught for 46 years. She was a member of Burgin Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sister, Ruby Proctor and Annie Lou Proctor Herrell, both of Burgin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Walter Proctor.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Mike Hamby, Proctor Riggins and Bob DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Bailey, Bill Bradshaw, Bob Webb, Delbert Ball, Fred VanArsdall and Lawrence Hawkins. Honorary bearers include deacons and Sunday School Class at Burgin Baptist, Bill Patrick, Guilford Waggener, Howard Waggener, Bill Waggener, Pat Lear, Don Kestler, Bob Thompson, Ron and Barbara Leach.
Memorials are suggested to Burgin Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
Visitation from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, and prior to services on Thursday.

MINNIE WHITTAKER
Minnie Fay Matherly Whittaker, 96, of Louisville, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at her residence.
Born in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Martha J. Watts Matherly. She was the widow of Rawdy Whittaker.
She was a retired school teacher after 39 years, having taught in Mercer, Henry, Shelby and Jessamine counties and Brown County in OH.
She was a member of the Jefferson County and the Kentucky retired teacher's associations. She was a member of the John Marshall National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Hurstbourne Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley and Glenna Whittaker, Louisville; one nephew, Charles W. Matherly, Louisville, all of whom cared for her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12, at the Arch L. Heady Hikes Point Home, 4109 Taylorsville Road, Louisville. Graveside services were held. in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville or one's favorite charity.

Harrodsburg Man Dies In Fatal Car Crash In Danville
Shawn Douglas Hall, 20, of 510 Ashley Drive was fatally injured in a car crash on Baughman Avenue in Danville at 6:26 a.m. Sunday.
He suffered multiple injuries when he was ejected from the 1992 Ford Mustang he was driving and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Two passengers in his car, Steven C. Massey, 28, of Danville, and Wesley S. Boyd, 22, of Boyle County, received serious multiple injuries in the accident and were transported to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center by Danville rescue units. They were also ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
According to a report filed by Danville police, Hall was westbound on Baughman Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway in the front yard of a residence owned by J. Cornett of 603 Baughman Ave., struck a mailbox and fencing and went into another yard, flipping several times before striking a tree and finally coming to rest, overturned, against the north wall of a residence owned by Charlene Hansche at 601 Baughman Ave.
The vehicle, owned by James Hall of Harrodsburg, was severely damaged.
According to the police report, none of he men in the accident were wearing seat belts.
Hall was the son of Doug 'Robin' Hall of Harrodsburg and Patsy Coomer of Gravel Switch. He was an employee of Matsushita in Danville and attended Southside Christian Church.

Charlotte Anderson, 52, wife of Howard Anderson, Bellows Mill Road, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

GENEVA ELLIS
Geneva Durham Ellis, 84, of 1749 Louisville Road, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born August 8, 1917 in East Texas, she was the daughter of the late Charles Owen and Minnie Lee Mattingly Durham.
She was a former homemaker and had worked at Darnall Hospital.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a member of the Betheny Sunday School Class.
She loved to crochet and her talent and love for cooking won her several awards at the Mercer County Fair.
Survivors include: her husband, James L. Ellis, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Judy) Tharp, Mercer County; two grandchildren, Jim Bob Davis and April Michelle Davis, both of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Don Chase officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

J. H. 'Achie' Bugg, 82, of Hustonville Road, Danville died Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born May 21, 1920 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late James H. and Hattie J. Pelley Bugg.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver, a former Penn Ventilation employee and a former manager of the Danville-Boyle County Airport.
He was a member of Salt River Baptist Church and an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Evelyn Landers Bugg; two daughters, Peggy Webb, Clarksville, TN, and Jane Noland, Danville; one brother, Martin 'Snook' Bugg, Danville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Stuart Powell and M. L. Holmes officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Christopher Webb, Jeremy Noland, Nicholas Noland, Larry Bugg, Steven Landers and Gary Brown. Honorary bearers were Edwin Waits and Homer Kurtz.

Jessie Barnett, 20, of Bellows Mill Road, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 in Hopkins County, of injuries sustained from a fall. He was the son of Kirtley and Lisa Barnett of Harrodsburg.

Man Dies After Fall Into Water Tower
Second Man In Critical Condition
One Harrodsburg man was pronounced dead and another hospitalized in critical condition on Tuesday after falling into a water storage tank in Madisonville.
Jessie Barnett, son of Kirt and Lisa Barnett of Mercer County, was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Medical Coroner Dennis Mayfield. Jim Bob Horn, son of Eddie and Tonya Horn, was airlifted to Owensboro-Davis County General Hospital.
On Tuesday evening, Horn was transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. On Wednesday morning, he was listed in critical condition at the UK Medical Center.
The two men, who were employed by Currens Construction in Harrodsburg, were working inside the water storage tank when, for an 'unknown reason,' they fell off the scaffolding, said KSP Trooper Tim Bailey, the Madisonville KSP Post Public Information Officer. They fell 25 to 30 feet to the bottom of the storage tank.
The accident occurred before 8 a.m. CST.
Horn was a 2001 graduate of MCHS.
Barnett was a 1999 graduate of Mercer County High School.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel is handling funeral arrangements for Barnett.

Helen Elliott, 69, of Perryville Road, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. She was the wife of Albert Elliott, Harrodsburg.
