Emma Sexton, 86, of Beaumont Avenue, formerly of Campbellsville, died Saturday, January 15, 2000 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born September 27, 1913 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Molly McFall Dicken.
She was retired from Union Underwear and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Campbellsville.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth E. Sexton Sr., Campbellsville; one daughter, Rachel S. Freeman, Harrodsburg, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 18, at the Parrott-Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Rev. Paul J. Dicken officiating. Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery, Campbellsville.
Memorials are suggested to the Lion's Club Eye Foundation, Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the First Presbyterian Church in Campbellsville.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
STERLIN SIMS
Sterlin Cloyd Sims, 89, of Heritage Hills Apartments, Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
Born December 23, 1910 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Fred and Willie Cloyd Sims, and was the widower of Pauline Sanders Sims.
He was a retired tool and die maker for Coleman's of Rockford, IL and a member of the Burgin Christian Church.
Survivors include; three sisters, Arley Neblock, Rockford, IL, Helen Wise, Louisville, and Ophelia Sims, Lexington. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Sims.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred, Bob and John "Buck" Vanarsdall, Lloyd Pickett, Curtis Bailey and A. T. Dean, Jr.
Memorials are suggested to the Burgin Christian Church Scholarship Fund.
PAUL LEONARD
Paul Kirkland Leonard, 91, of 216 East Poplar Street, died Monday, January 17, 2000 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born January 3, 1909 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lily Kirkland Leonard.
He was a retired body shop manager for Courtesy Chevrolet, Cincinnati, OH, a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Harrodsburg and Cincinnati-Lafayette Lodge #483, F&AM, Cincinnati. He was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include: his wife, Icie M. Leonard, Harrodsburg; one son, Joseph E. Leonard of FL,; one brother, Garnett H. Leonard, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John I. Leonard and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie Rust officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Leonard, Dustin Leonard, Victor Cummins, and Joe Wimberly.
Visitation from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
RAWDY WHITTAKER
Rawdy Whittaker, 96, of Louisville, died Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at the home of his daughters.
Born May 15, 1903 in Clay County, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Elizabeth Ann Hatcher Whittaker.
He was a retired teacher and school administrator of 49 years in Kentucky and Ohio.
He was a graduate of Sue Bennett High School, Eastern State Teachers College and the University of Kentucky. He was former president of Central Kentucky Athletic Association, Fifth District Principle Association and a member of Hart Lodge #61 F&AM, Ohio Educators Administration, Phi Delta Kappa, and Hurstbourne Baptist Church in Louisville.
He was principle of Cornishville High School, Rose Hill High School and superintendent of the Mercer County Schools in the 1930s and 1940s.
Survivors include: his wife, the former Minnie Matherly of Harrodsburg, now living in Louisville; two daughters, Shirley and Glenna Whittaker, Louisville; one sister, Ida Hamons, London, several nieces and nephews, including Charles Matherly of Harrodsburg who helped care for him.
Funeral services were held in Louisville, Saturday, January 15, with Bro. Carl Townsend officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Hart Lodge, Nicholasville held a graveside ceremony.
Pallbearers were Dewitt Sims, J. H. Newby, Elmer Graham, Bill Pinkston, Garnett Matherly and Charles Matherly.
WILBUR WRIGHT
Wilbur J. Wright, 75, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, currently of New Albany, IN, died Tuesday at Wedgewood Health Care in Clarksville, IN.
Born March 3, 1924 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Willie and Beatrice Linney Wright.
He was an auto mechanic for Courtesy Chevrolet in Cincinnati for 40 years and an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, the former Alene Bogard of New Albany, IN; one son, James Bogart, Park Hill; two sisters, Georgia Hiner, Harrodsburg and Eloise Allender of Loveland, OH; two brothers, Ralph Wright, Harrodsburg and Robert Wright of Lebanon, OH. Two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935 VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for H. C. Yeaste at Spring Hill Cemetery on January 9, 2000.
Those attending were Howrad Howells, Willie Gritton, Tom Lane, Louis Ransdell, Roy Freeman, Marion Mershon, James Carey, Joe Harlow and Henry Pulliam.
Zenah Teater served as bugler.

PAULINE LAWSON
Pauline R. Lawson, 70, of 453 Cane Run Street, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born December 15, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, she was the daughter of Helen Drury Robinson and the late Ben Robinson.
She was a retired deputy Circuit Court clerk, a former member of the BPW Club and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, Frank C. Lawson,, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Paula Spears, Lawrenceburg and Robin Shumate, Danville; two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Hartman and Larry Camic officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wes Shumate, Robert Spears, Ray Brooks, Ruby Henderson, Harold Lawson, Darrell Waterfill and Bill Robinson. Honorary bearers will be Mercer and Boyle County lawyers, Helen Davenport, Ralph Morris, Darren Peckler, C. M. Shewmaker Sr. and Irvin Graff.

JOHN HENSLEY
John Wayne Hensley, 53, of 133 Brenda Drive, Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born October 11, 1946 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late John and Ruth Stewart Hensley.
He was a retired employee of Custom Tool and Manufacturing Company in Lawrenceburg, a member of Alton Baptist Church and the Bass Masters Club in Frankfort. He was a Vietnam War Veteran.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. David (Kristi) Riley, Lawrenceburg, and Mrs. Kelly (Dana) Durbin, TX; two sons, Brian O’Nan, Frankfort and Scotty Hensley, TX; one brother, William Paul Harley, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Danny (Alice) Martin, and Mary Ann Cox, both of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-father, William C. Harley, and a son, Bobby Hensley.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 21, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Greene officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Mercer County.
Pallbearers were Jeff Combs, Rick Rogers, Jason Stewart, C. V. Cox, Ray Cox, Patrick Gaines, and A. J. Brown. Honorary bearers were Larry Jones, J. L. Soyars, James Fitzpatrick, Jeff S. Combs, and Jimmy Lewis.
ANNA SANDERS
Anna Belle Sanders, 84, of 319 Walnut Street, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 28, 1915 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John and Flora Phillips Royalty. She was the widow of Owen Sanders.
She was a homemaker and member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, R. C. Sanders, Versailles, Kenneth Sanders, Mercer County, and Harold Sanders, Ft. Thomas; seven daughters, Wanda Woolcott, Denver, CO, Becky Gooch, Stanford, JoAnn Burton, Frances Sanders, Peggy Burns, Donna Sanders, and Debbie Sadler, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Lucille Lynch, Louisville; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 21, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

NANNIE PEAVLER
Nannie S. Peavler, 98, of Harrodsburg, widow of Cecil Peavler, died Wednesday January 19, 2000 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 30, 1901 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late G.T. And Elva Burns Sanford. She was retired from Palm Beach and a member of Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mrs. Neoma Hatchett of Austell, Georgia, Mrs. Alma Reynolds of Salvisa, and Mrs. Vertna Lay of DeKalb, Ill, one niece and four nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 22, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Hatchett, Delbert Reynolds, Brad Railey, Wess Delbert Reynolds, Frank Preston and Walter Delbert Reynolds.
BESSIE TEATER
Bessie M. Teater, 79, of 413 Mooreland Avenue, died Friday, January 21, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 7, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the Late Jess and Maude Hurst Veatch. She was the widow of Samuel J. Teater.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Bill Teater, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Donna Shelton, Harrodsburg; one brother, Louis Veatch, Lexington; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 24, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brian Teater, Scotty Shelton, Mike Baker, Jackie Westerfield, Breck Veatch, and Bruce Epperly.
