Ralph Vance Wright, 79, of 4342 Cornishville Road, died Saturday, December 9, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 28, 1921 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Col. Willie and Beatrice Linney Wright.
He was a retired farmer, a member of the Bohon Christian Church and attended Cornishville Christian Church.
He was an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Laura Wright, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Sharon Kay Wright Van Hoose, Pensacola, FL; one brother, Robert Russell Wright, Lebanon, OH; two sisters, Georgia Hiner, Harrodsburg, and Eloise Allender, Loveland, OH; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Wright, and a sister, Lucile Wright.
Funeral services were held December 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Curtis Sims and Rev. Dennis Norton officiating. Burial was in the Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Brent Wright, Robbie Wright, Kevin Lowe, Clyde Sims Jr., Homer Easterling, Brian Sims, Richard Tingle and William Hayslett Jr. Honorary bearers Edwin King, Garland Yankey, Connie Gillis, Marvin Carey, Ansel Drury, Randall Burns, Archie Britton and Hughes Coslow.
Memorials are suggested to the Cornishville Christian Church Renovation Fund.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for William Roy Steele at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on December 12, 2000.
Those attending were Roy Freeman, Joe Harlow, Curtiss Sherrow, Lucian Landers, Marion Mershon, "Tip Toe" Tewmey and Tommy Denny.
Zenah Teater served as bugler.
ARCHIE MARTIN
Archie Martin, 79, formerly of Pleasant Hill Drive, Burgin, died Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the Arbors at Hilliard Nursing Home in Hilliard, OH.
Born September 10, 1921 in Casey County, he was the son of the late Elza and Louranda Wilham Martin. He was the widower of Zula Estes Martin.
He was a retired IBM tool inspector manager and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian church.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, a former member of VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Scott (Collette) Martin Schaffer, Lindenhurst, IL; three brothers, Arthur Martin, Russelville, AR, Cecil Martin, Indianapolis, IN and Melvin Martin, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mabel) Hewitt, Columbus, OH, and Mrs. Arthur (Mary Ann) Goodlett, Lexington; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Reed Martin, two sisters, Rosie Leathers and Jewell Hollingsworth, and one daughter, Lois Charlene Hensley.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hensley officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Schaffer, Steven Hensley, Melvin Martin, Clifton Martin, Arthur Goodlett and Joe Cooper.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
CLARENCE COYLE
Clarence N. Coyle, age 75, of 2086 Perryville Road, died Thursday, December 7, 2000, at his residence.
Born September 19, 1925 in Casey County, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Grace Elizabeth Pipes Coyle.
He was retired from Corning Glass Works after 35 years, a tractor mechanic, an avid fisherman, collector and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: his wife, Mabel Reynolds Coyle, Harrodsburg; four sons, Kenneth (Mary) Coyle, Harrodsburg, Donnie (Melissa) Coyle of Boyle County, John Rider, Harrodsburg, and Harold Coyle, Garrard County; three daughters, Shirley (Ronnie) Lindsey, Marion County, Joyce (Chris) Casey, Boyle County, and Kathy (James) Fallon, Danville; one brother, Estill Coyle, IL; one sister, Hazel Southerland, Paris; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George Cleaver Coyle, William Coyle and Hardin Coyle, and two sisters, Gladys Sweeney and Emma Girtley.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Mike Conover and Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial with military honors was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Coyle, Butch Coyle, Larry Hourigan, Jr., Kerry Dale Hourigan, John Rider, Jr. and Lee Patterson.
EDNA PELLEY
Edna Virginia Pelley, 71, of 499 W. Factory Street, died Monday, December 11, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born November 12, 1929 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late George Pelley and Dorothy Lyons Pelley Thornton.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dry Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two aunts, Ruby Mullins, Harrodsburg, and Mary Peters, Lexington.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Don Releford officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday.
GENEVA ROBINSON
Geneva Robinson, 99, of South College Street, died Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 25, 1901 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Clarenda Yocum Hendren. She was the widow of Henry Tilford Robinson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bohon Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Randall Robinson, Salvisa, and R. C. Robinson, Danville; one daughter, Ann Woolums, Denver, CO; one brother, Mayford Hendren, Akron, OH; 18 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Robinson, and a daughter, Zelma Combs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, at the Bohon Road Baptist Church, with Bro. Ken Calla officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Robinson, David Combs, Kevin Woolums, Tony Robinson, Daryl Combs and Henry Combs.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.

NANCY RAGLE
Nancy Carolyn Ragle, 50, of 853 Lexington Road, died Friday, December 15, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 19, 1950 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Mary Rose Bugg, Harrodsburg, and the late Clyde Woodrow Shewmaker.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Bohon Road Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: one son, Brian Cheatham, Harrodsburg; one brother, Bronston Holt, Danville; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, at the Ransdell Funeral chapel with Bro. Ken Calia officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Lyons, Tommy Henninger, Jeromy Henninger, Andy Henninger, Shawn Henninger, Jason Henninger and Chad Henninger.
MARY CARTER
Mary Louise Carter, 82, of 112 Stagg Street, died Saturday, December 16, 2000 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 9, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Nora Voorhies Kurtz. She was the widow of Elmer Carter.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of Shakertown Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and youth leader for many years.
Survivors include: two step sons, Daniel Carter, Harrodsburg, and John Carter, Lexington; two brothers, Clarence and Jeff Kurtz, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Ruth Davis, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Kurtz, and four sisters, Jessie Sims, Hazel Sims, Margaret Tumey and Naomi Rhea Kurtz.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 19, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenny Kurtz, H. J. Sims, Tommy Camden, Lonnie Jenkins, Boone Logan, and Terry Camden.

HALLIE VEATCH
Hallie Elois Veatch, 75, of Enid Court, Georgetown, died Saturday, December 16, 2000 at her residence.
Born in Mercer County on April 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Claud and Laura Isham Terhune. She was the widow of William D. Veatch, Sr.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lexington and was a retired bookkeeper for Phillip Gall and Son. She was the secretary for the Bluegrass Sportsman League.
Survivors include: two daughters, Judith Speck, Georgetown, and Deedee Kay Bell, Ariton, AL; one son, William D. Veatch Jr., Dallas, TX; one sister, Anne Freeman, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Claud Mitchell Terhune, Harlingen, TX and Loren Thomas Terhune, Lexington; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held December 18.
Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown was in charge of arrangements.
WILLIAM STEELE
William Roy Steele, 73, who died December 7, 2000, at his residence, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
JOHN MOORE
John Moore, 96, formerly of 202 Lincoln Avenue, Irvine, died Thursday, December 14, 2000 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born December 9, 1904 in Lee County, he was the son of the late W. H. and Louise Crouch Moore. He was the widower of Flossie Marcum Moore.
He was a member of the Doe Creek Church of Living God and a retired Lexington Post Office maintenance man.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Jo) Sanders, Mercer County, Mrs. Michael (Myrtle) Carman, Bybee, and Mrs. Jack (Wilma Jean Highfield) Clemmons, Jackson, MS; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at the South Irvine Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Paul Arvin and Rev. Frank Sands officiating. Burial was in West Irvine Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Lewis Hale, Royce Withers, Brian Hale, Jamie Walling, Michael Highfield, Ronnie Powell, Trenton Hale, and Kyle Withers.
Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MARY CATON
Mary Elizabeth Caton, 79, of 485 White Lane, died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born January 24, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosie Carr Baker. She was the widow of Arthur Caton, Jr.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Mary June) Wade, Harrodsburg, Mrs. John (Sue) Inman, Chattanooga, TN, and Mrs. Dewayne (Nancy) Maddox, Mercer County; one brother, Maurice Bob Baker, Harrodsburg; four sisters, Lettie McCrosky, Frances Divine, Margaret Curtsinger and Barbara Logue, all of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Baker.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nick Maddox, Levi Maddox, Wes Inman, Brent Logue, Bobby Jack Baker, Keith Lay, Mike Vandivier and Howard Lynn Logue. Honorary bearers were Jerry Caton, Don Billy Caton, Mark Caton, Bruce Harper, John Currens, Fred Lewis, Steve Caton and David McCrosky.
