James M. Isham, 70, of Mackville Road, died Saturday, July 28, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 8, 1930 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Leora Gibson Isham.
He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Mackville, a retired Corning Glass Works employee, a farmer and veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include: three brothers, Robert Lee Isham, Charles R. Isham, and C. H. Isham, all of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Louise Rogers, Harrodsburg and Aline Matherly, Washington County.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Harmon and Bro. Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ralph Rogers, Jr., William David Rogers, Major Hollis D. Isham, Eddie Bast, Robbie Rogers, John David Rogers, Timmy Rogers, Troy David Rogers and Billy Matherly.
Honorary bearers were Jeremy Matherly, Tommy Yates, Rodney Harris and members of his New Harmony Baptist Church Sunday School class.
LYNN KEELING
Lynn Norris Keeling, 63, of Claybrooke Avenue, Springfield, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Norton Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Born August 13, 1937, at Mackville, he was a son of the late Ruel and Jewell Shewmaker Keeling.
He was a charter member of the Lebanon Christian Church and served as board member and elder.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol Morris Keeling, Springfield, two daughters, Vickie Vance, Maysville, Sheila Keeling, Springfield; two brothers, Morrison Keeling, Louisville, and Leon Keeling, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 29, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Bud Owen officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Rick Mattingly, Rick Rice, Rick Reed, Rick Moore, Chris Shewmaker and Johnny Nelson. Honorary bearers were Ralph Hoppes, Carl Hardin, Jim Chelf, John Paul Mardis, Wayne Hancock and James Bell.
WELBY KNIGHT
Welby Lee Knight, 77, of Salvisa, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 in Danville.
Born March 15, 1924 in Russell County, he was the son of the late Henry and Menerva Chumbley Knight.
He was self employed.
Survivors include: his wife, Ethel Marie Brown Knight; one son, Henry Lee Knight; one grandchild and two great grandchildren, all of Salvisa.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 30 at the McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, with Bro. Clifford DeHart officiating. Burial was in South Fork Cemetery.
THOMAS LANE
Thomas Elmer Lane, 86, 929 Providence Road, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 26, 1915 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Hartford and Sue Hurst Lane.
He was a retired farmer, a Mercer County magistrate for 29 years and a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ.
He was an Army veteran of World War II where he earned three bronze stars, American Defense Service Medal, and a Purple Heart for service in France.
Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Shirley Lane, Harrodsburg; four sons, William Larry Lane, Bentley S. Lane and John David Lane, all of Mercer County, and James Carter Lane, Cleveland, TN; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Lane, Jr., a daughter Laura Sue Lane, and a brother, William Arthur Lane.
Funeral Services were held Friday, July 27, at the Ebenezer Church of Christ with John Kesel and Richard Easterling officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bentley D. Lane, Clayton Lane, Jonathan Lane, Ryan Lane, Robert Wallace, Joe Warner, Joseph Lane and Timothy Lane. Honorary bearers were members of Ebenezer and Hopewell Sunday School class.

CLYDE PETERS
C. Clyde Peters, 84, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at his residence in Key Biscayne, FL.
He was a native of Martinsville, VA.
He was CEO of Peters Wholesale Furniture Company, past president of Kentucky Home Furnishings Representatives Association, a member of Hunting Creek Country Club, Harrodsburg Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite, Kosair Shrine Temple and Calvin Presbyterian Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Leah Taylor Peters, Key Biscayne, FL; one daughter, Dr. Susan P. Mullane, FL; one son, Charles C. Peters, Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Fred Powell; four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, at Pearson Funeral Home, Louisville. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery.

HERMAN ROYALTY
Herman M. Royalty, 73, of Dayton, OH, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the Hospice Care Center in Dayton.
Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Ella Godfrey Royalty.
He was retired from G. H. & R. Foundry in Dayton, was an avid fisherman and a CB radio enthusiast.
Survivors include: three sons, Ralph and Tracy Royalty, both of Dayton, OH, Herman Royalty Jr., Chapel Hill, NC; one daughter, Mary Helen Stump of Seattle, WA; one sister, Hazel Davenport, Harrodsburg; one brother, Robert Royalty, Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, at the Newcomer and Barclay Funeral Home in Dayton, OH.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for Thomas E. Lane at Ebenezer Cemetery on July 27, 2001.
Those attending were: Roy Freeman, Tom Denny, Preston Burgin, Joe Harlow, James Carey, Richard Shewmaker, Lucian Landers, Marion Mershon, Tom Rappleye, James L. Tewmey and Howard Howells.
William Gravely served as bugler.
WILLIAM BAKER
William Raymond Baker, 59, of 1146 West Shelby Street, Junction City, died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born September 7, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John D. and Sallie Coyle Baker.
He was a retired car dealer and loved restoring old cars.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nitzie (John) Stinnett, Mercer County; five brothers, Donald Ray Baker, Jim Baker, Kenny Baker, David Baker and Ronnie Baker, all of Mercer County; two sisters, Irene White and Corene Humfleet, both of Mercer County. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Statom Baker and one son, Keith Baker.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Harley Humfleet officiating. Burial was in the Hustonville Cemetery.
JOHN BANKS
John L. Banks, 71, South College Street, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 11, 1930 in Indiana, he was the son of the late John L. and Ethel Anderson Banks, Sr.
He was a retired Ohio taxi cab driver, a veteran of the US Navy and the US Air Force and a member of the American Legion, Post 52.
Survivors include: two sons, Jerry and Donnie Banks.
Memorial services were held Monday, August 6, at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County.
Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
JOYCE CADDELL
Joyce Gayle Caddell, 56, of 562 Pleasant Hill Drive, Burgin, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at her residence.
Born October 13, 1944 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Flossie Sexton Caddell.
She owned and operated Joyce’s Craft Shop in Burgin and was a member of the Burgin Baptist Church.
Survivors include: four aunts, Martha Bennett and Georgia Webb, both of Burgin, JoAnn Dexter, Danville and Jenny Taylor, Richmond.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Hamby and Pat Lear officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be deacons from the Burgin Baptist Church.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
Visitation at the chapel from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
