W. C. (Dub) Gayheart, 81, of Nicholasville, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at his residence.
He was the son of Steve and Minnie Fathergill Gayheart.
He was a member of Guns Chapel and attended Mt. Freedom Baptist Church of Wilmore, was a member of the Wilmore Lions Club, Odd Fellows Lodge, Shanty Hills Sportsman’s Club and Bluegrass Sportsman’s Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Alice Crowe Gayheart, Nicholasville; six sons, Ray, Steve, David, Mike, Kenny and Roger Gayheart; three daughters, Patricia Long, Caroline Wilhoit and Lois Wright; two sisters, Mary Frances Whittaker, Mercer County, and Corrine Nichols of Paris; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Okley, Carl and Roland Gayheart; two sisters, Jewel Richard and Rosie Gayheart.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 14, at the Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, with Rev. Don Reed and Rev. Craig Ryan officiating. Burial was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
MARY MATHEWS
Mary Jane Mathews, 66, resident of Miles Drive, Lancaster, died Saturday, January 22, 2000 at the Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born December 12, 1933 in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Myrtle Brown White.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Rutherford, Hamilton, OH, Marilyn Spaulding, Sebring, FL, and Darlene Johnson, Lancaster; one son, Larry Henninger, Harrodsburg; one sister, Ethel Gawlak, Lorraine, OH; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 24, 2000 at Ramsey Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Hodge officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Stockton, Jason Henninger, Tommy Henninger, Jimmy Shane Moberly, Brian Sims and Ernie Kelty Jr.
FRANCES WINE
Frances Wine, 74, of 278 East Lane, died Sunday, January 23, 2000 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born November 22, 1925 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Brian and Bernie Lee Young Boyd.
She was retired from Palm Beach in Danville and Cricketeer in Harrodsburg and was a member of the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville.
Survivors include: one son, Ronald Wine, Mercer County; one daughter, Iris Vinyard, Mercer County; four brothers, Ralph and Ronald Boyd of Boyle County, Gene and Kenneth Boyd, Lincoln County; one half brother, Woodrow Boyd of PA; four sisters, Christine Wadella of OH, Opal Brown of Boyle County, Doris Snow and Virginia Brown, Lincoln County; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 26 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Daugherty and Bro. Stewart Dawson officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery in Danville.
Pallbearers were nephews, Ron Kenndal Boyd, Pat Boyd, Gary Whitis, Kenneth Wayne Boyd, Carl Nelson Boyd, and David Lee Brown. Honorary bearers were Tim Buck, Terry Parnell, Harvey Morris, Odell Morris, Arnold Freeman, and Ernie Vinyard.
GEORGE STEELE
George Vaught Steele, 60, of 863 Scooter Avenue, died Sunday, January 23, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born November 26, 1939 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Marie Montgomery Steele.
He was a retired Square D employee and was a member of the Pioneer Baptist church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include: three daughters, Melissa Cutter, Danville, Ann Kelly, Lawrenceburg, and Kristi Steele, Harrodsburg; two sons, Ricky Steele, Franklin, VA and Brandon Steele, Danville; three sisters, Bonnie Teater and Gladys Lozier, both of Harrodsburg, and Mary Evelyn Sadler, Lawrenceburg; three brothers, Billy Steele, Harrodsburg, Danny Steele, Parksville, and Henry Steele Jr., Taylorsville; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 25, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Lewis Walters and Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Steele, Barry Steele, Ronnie Steele, Randy Steele, Wayne Steele, Brian Teater, Phillip Lozier and Justin Sadler.
Memorial are suggested to the Pioneer Baptist Church.
ELVA CATLETT
Elva Chesher Catlett, 92, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, January 24, 2000 at Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.
Born in Anderson County, August 7, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Hollie Alford and Radie Brumley Chesher. She was the widow of Justus Catlett.
She was a retired employee of the State Department of Revenue, a member of the Hughes Homemakers Club, a volunteer with the Anderson County Red Cross Bloodmobile and a former member of the Glensboro Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include: one son, Stewart (Nellon) Catlett, Louisville; three grandchildren, Suzanne Lamar and Dale Morris of Mercer County, and Dean Stewart Catlett, Louisville; four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Catlett Morris and a grandson, David Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. B. C. Jones and Bro. Bernard Perry officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dale Morris, Dean Catlett, Justin Morris, Coby Morris, Aaron Lamar and Seth Lamar.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:00 a.m. Thursday.
LARRY DANIELS
Larry Dale Daniels, 46, of 1155 McCouns Ferry Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at his home.
He was a native of Monticello, and son of the late Oliver and Alice Raines Daniels.
He was an employee of Edwards Saw Mill in Mercer County.
Survivors include: three daughters, Sherri Daniels, Lawrenceburg, Teresa Daniels and Barbara Daniels, of Lexington; three brothers, Woodrow Daniels, Monticello, Dallas Daniels and Gary Daniels, Salvisa; three sisters, Wanda Hayes, Monticello, Phyllis Hays Daniels, Lawrenceburg, and Norma Doss, Salvisa; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wayne Daniels, a grandson, Christopher Stigall, and a sister, Pearl Prince.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. George Dye officiating. Burial in Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bast, Johnny Edwards, Michael Hays, Elick Daniels, Jack Edwards, Jeremy Blackwell, Ray Daniels, and Travis Daniels.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 8:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JEAN NORTON
Jean C. Norton, 89, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, January 24, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care.
Born September 17, 1910 in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Veal and Johnny Belle Young Morgan.
She was a retired nurse's aide for the former Kentucky State Hospital in Boyle County and was a former St. Joseph School of Nursing employee.
She attended Troy School in Woodford County, Centre College in Danville, and was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley (Marvin) Claunch, Harrodsburg, Marjorie Smith, Stanford, IL; one son, Vanelle Norton, San Diego, CA; three sisters-in-law, Lula B. Norton, and Dennia Norton, both of Harrodsburg, Polly Norton, LeRoy, IL; two brothers-in-law, Bradley Long of Mercer County, and Elwood (Rowena) Norton, Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Allen Claunch and a son-in-law, Dean Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, at the Ransdell funeral chapel with John Hockersmith III and Elwood Norton officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be J. B. Claunch, Eric Montgomery, Jess Long, David Long, Larry Taylor and Glenn Norton.
Visitation will be at the chapel from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
BERT PATRICK
Bert "Pat" Patrick, 79, of Cincinnati, OH, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at the Mercy Franciscan Hospital – Mt. Airy Campus, in Cincinnati, OH.
Born February 29, 1920 in Burgin, he was a son of the late William Lewis and Martha Jane Shepherd Patrick. He was the widower of Nellie Lee McDonald Patrick.
He was a retired member of Local 18 of the Ohio Operating Engineers with whom he did heavy road construction and was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly A. Patrick and Rhonda C. (John) Toich, both of Cincinnati; one brother, Walter Patrick, Lawrenceburg; one sister, Opal Mayes, Lawrenceburg; two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Patrick Burgin, and Kathleen Patrick, Venice, FL; one grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Garrett and Charlie Patrick.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, at the Dennis George Funeral Home, 44 S. Miami Avenue, Cleves, OH. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cleves with military honors.

STANLEY WATTS
Stanley Watts, 86, of 1000 Beaumont Avenue, died Saturday, January 29, 2000 at his residence.
Born November 26, 1913 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Cordelia Cummins Watts.
He was a retired platinum smith for Corning glass. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, Past Master, Oleika Shrine Temple and Eastern Star.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Kays Watts, Harrodsburg; one son, James Elvin Watts, Sarasota, FL; two daughters, Barbara Ann Watts, Lexington, Jennie Lee Jones, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Beatrice Stanforth, Harrodsburg, Gladys Yocum, Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Mark Girard, John Wesley Kays Jr. and Richard Chamberlin officiating. Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bruce Bottom, Eddie Lay, Gerald Kays, Bill Zopff, Kenneth Martin and Tommy Hurst. Honorary bearers were members of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM.
NORVIE BAKER
Norvie Mitchell Baker, 77, of Willisburg, died Saturday, January 29, 2000 in the emergency room of Norton Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
A native of Washington County, he was born September 21, 1922, son of the late Raymond and Dorcas Ross Baker.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Arnolia Skeans Baker, Willisburg; one son, Jimmy (Marie) Baker, Salvisa; one brother, O. T. Baker, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mattie Coslow, Harrodsburg and Dorothy Hilton, Springfield; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Marshal, George, R. C., Cleo and James A. Baker.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 1, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Frank Preston and Bro. Kelly Baker. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery in Mackville.
Pallbearers were Bob Lykins, Coleman Durr, Harrison Coslow, Gary Coslow, Ricky Baker and Billy Hilton. Honorary bearers were George Graves, Hammy Robertson, Lonnie Boswell, Ernest Reed Goff, Scotty Coslow, Bob Cheser, Bill Cheser and Billy White.
HOLLIE ROSS
Hollie B. Ross, 63, of Willisburg, died Sunday, January 23, 2000 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, he was born October 14, 1936, son of Hadgie Yaste Ross and the late Wilbur Ross.
He was a retired employee of General Electric of Louisville.
Survivors include: one son, David A. Ross, Louisville; one daughter, Mrs. Lisa A. (Michael) Clymer, Hart County; one brother, Leroy Ross, Willisburg; one sister, Mrs. Lavern (Harold) Thomas, Mt. Washington; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 26, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Burnice Richardson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.
