Nellie Krantz, 90, formerly of Harrodsburg, died September 27, 2001 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Barberton, OH.
She was a daughter of the late Ed and Stattie Gritton Camic.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and a member of Betty Dean’s Sunday School class.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra (Darrell) Anderson, Springfield, IL; one son, Donald (Virginia) Pinkston, Akron, OH; two sisters, Sylvia Coyle and Louise Noel, both of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Jewell Pinkston, five brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services were held at the Green Lawn Memorial Park Ivy Chapel in Akron, OH.
The family requests memorial gifts be given to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church or Harrodsburg Baptist Foundation.
RICK LAWSON
Rick Lance Lawson, 45, of Dunnellon, FL, died Sunday, September 30, 2001 in Dunnellon.
Born December 30, 1955 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Marcus Arnold and Helen Crews Lawson of Dunnellon, FL.
He was a former marketing manager of Tech Data Corp. in Clearwater, FL and the owner of “Natures Very Best,” in Dunnellon, FL. He was also a member of the Sierra Club in St. Petersburg, FL and was a Baptist.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife Cindy Lawson, Dunnellon, FL; three step daughters, Misty Hooks, Dunnellon, FL, Dawn Cyrus and Holly Connelly, both of St. Petersburg, FL; one brother, Vance Lawson, Dunnellon, FL; three step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon Chapel, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Dunnellon, FL.
GLOVER McGINNIS
Glover Thomas McGinnis, 86, of 517 East Lexington Street, died Satur-day, September 29, 2001 at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born September 17, 1915 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Iva Lee and Ella Maude Catlett McGinnis. He was the widower of Loraine Reed McGinnis.
He was a retired owner/operator for Standard Oil in Harrodsburg, had served one term as Mercer County Sheriff, two terms as Mercer County Judge and co-owned Glave Sims Funeral Home.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where he was a deacon and elder. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Mercer Lodge #777 F&AM, 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Olieka Shrine Temple.
He had served on the Harrodsburg Board of Education for eight years and was an army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include: one daughter, Pam (Mike) Ellis, Harrodsburg; one sister, Mary Paris, Lexington, one sister-in-law, Zelma McGinnis, Lexington, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Bill McGinnis and two sisters, Ida Mae Leach and Clydia McConnell.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tim Ellis, Myron Ellis, Chad Ellis, Bill Claunch, Ronald Leach and Kenneth Meredith.
Memorials are suggested to the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, The Harrodsburg Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
HAROLD MONTGOMERY
Harold Mont-gomery, 80, of 902 Meadow Lane, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born February 9, 1921 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas Shelton and Eliza Frances Scott Montgomery.
He was a retired farmer and owner of Monty’s Market for 23 years.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, a deacon, choir member and Sunday School teacher.
He was a member of the VFW and an army veteran of WW II.
Survivors include: his wife, Christine Lee Montgomery, Harrodsburg; one son, Marty (Ketrina) Montgomery, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Amy (Jim) Neal, Harrodsburg; one brother, Marvin Montgomery, Mercer County, two sisters, Surene Divine, Lexington, Ida Leonard, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Short.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandchildren: Monty Short, Kevin Short, Shannon Becknell, Lee Montgomery, Wendy Montgomery, Brook and Paige Neal. Honorary bearers were deacons from the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Harold Montgomery Sunday School class members, Daryl Catlett, Milward Dedman, Anne Evans and Mike Matherly.

THOMAS PATTERSON
Thomas Joseph “Pat” Patterson, 85, of Elizabeth-town, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
Born February 11, 1916 in Winters, TX, he was the son of the late Mona Utterback Roberts.
A 1939 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in electrical engineering, he worked for Kentucky Utilities and later his own consulting engineering firm, T. J. Patterson and Associates.
He was past president of Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, the national director of National Society of Professional Engineers, past president of Elizabethtown-Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, Elizabethtown Rotary Club and the Lincoln Trail Area Development District, Elizabethtown office. He also was past vice president of Elizabethtown Industrial Foundation and a past director of PNC Bank.
He received the Bell Award at Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Hardin County Schools. He was a University of Kentucky Fellow and awarded the Hall of Fame Award by the Elizabethtown-Hardin County Chamber of Commerce.
He was a 50-year member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a World War II veteran of the US Navy.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Stanley Patterson, Elizabethtown; one daughter, Margaret Jo (Louis) Kerrick, Harrodsburg; two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Roberts, and a sister, Mildred Farrow.
A memorial service was held Saturday, September 29, at the Memorial United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown, with Rev. Garland Hawkins officiating.

NATHAN PREWITT
Nathan Prewitt, 80, West Broadway, died Friday, September 28, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born December 20, 1920 in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Nathan Earl and Mary Jane Prewitt Prewitt. He was the widower of Allene Lois Conn Prewitt.
He was a retired farmer and a University of Kentucky maintenance employee.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and an army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include; one daughter, Myra Susan (Luis A.) Vasquez, Harrodsburg; one sister, Roberta Hume, Lancaster; three brothers, Harlan Prewitt, Nicholasville, Wallace Prewitt, Somerset, Allen Prewitt, London; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Sebastian.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 1, at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Paul Readnour and Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Cruey, Roger Davis, Jimmy Hume, Jerry Hume and Mike Boatman.
EVERETT TAYLOR
Everett Melvin Taylor, 76, of 2140 Palms Drive, Lexington, died Sunday, September 30, 2001.
Born August 18, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alice McGuire Taylor.
He was a retired carpenter for Wainscott Builders and a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Martha Adams Taylor, Lexington; one daughter, Teresa Noplis, Lexington; three sons, Allen (Brenda) Taylor, Lexington, Scott Taylor, Chattanooga, TN, Kenneth (Joyce) Taylor, Gainesville, FL; two sisters, Barbara Frueh, Maple Falls, WA and Roberta Taylor, Edison, NJ; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Chaplain John Rudd officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
RAYMOND BESL
Raymond A. Besl, 78, Harrodsburg Road, Danville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 at his residence.
Born Jan. 9, 1923 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Clare Bertke Besl.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
He was a former president of Besl Transfer Company, former owner of Besl Corporation and Dobosco and had been a director of the North Side Bank and Trust Company, all of Ohio.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol Ruthemeyer Besl, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Deborah A. Streiter, Phoenix, AZ, Theresa M. Collier, Hamilton, OH, and Jill Besl, Danville; one son, David P. Besl, Beavercreek, OH; two brothers, Frank Besl and Robert Besl, both of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Mary Gandenberger, Cincinnati, OH, and Audrey Saunders, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and William Besl.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joe Muench officiating.

DORA BISHOP
Dora Mae Bishop, 83, of Ivy Woods Nursing Home in Cincinnati, OH, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at Ivy Woods Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 29, 1917 in Washington County, she was the daughter of James and Moley Riley Hatchett. She was the widow of Henry L. Bishop.
Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Morris Allen Tyree and Bobby Lee Tyree, both of Ohio; three daughters, Faye Cottingham of Lexington, Judy Ray of Elsmere and Linda King of Richmond, and a brother, William (Billy) Hatchett of Aurora, IL.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken Calia officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
