Anna Louise Trower Fair, 63, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001 at her home.
A native of Harrodsburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include: her husband, George Fair; three daughters, Pam Hickman of Spencer County, Jennifer Fair of Shelbyville and Suzanne Fair of Louisville; a brother, G.W. Trower of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Allene Gordon of Danville, Jean Pittman of Clarksville, IN, and Bea Davis of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Betts officiating. Burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy can take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
VIRGINIA N. RANSDELL
Memorial services for Virginia Nelson Ransdell, 81, of Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro, NC, who died Oct. 15, 2001, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at the Christ Church in Lexington.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Elwood Norton officiating.
A native of Salvisa, Ransdell worked for the Department of Veterinary Science at the University of Kentucky for 40 years. She was a veteran of World War II, where she served as a surgical technician.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
MARY RILEY
Mary Turner Riley, 87, of 582 Goodlett Rd., Salvisa, died Friday Oct. 5, 2001 at her home.
Born Aug. 14, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of Hansford and Iva Turner Newby. She was the widow of Hansford Riley.
Mrs. Riley was a homemaker. She was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church and was the Ransdell’s Reaper Sunday school teacher for a number of years.
Survivors include three daughters; Wanda Binats, San Diego, CA; Bonnie (Fred) Derrick, Goodlettsville, TN; Marcella (Robert) Prather, Salvisa; one brother, J.H.Newby, Harrodsburg; one sister; Blanche Alsip, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Darland and two sisters, Zelma Dean and Alma Burkhead.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lewis Walter and Doug Eades officiating. Burial was in the Kirkwood Cemetery in Salvisa.
Pallbearers were Roger Dotson, Mike Ward, Bobby Tolls, Greg Carpenter, Mike Redding and Brad Derrick.
Honorary pallbearers were Georgia Brown, Margaret Ward, Mary Alice and Joy Gash, Ann (Petie) Ward, Barbara Dotson, Gaye Sims, Eula Freeman, Sharon Risden, Margaret James and Rachelle Sizemore.

CORDIE SPRINGATE
Cordie V. Springate, 88, formerly of Riverside Drive, Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born June 9, 1913 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Dora L. Hurst Dean and the widow of William Pearson Springate. She was retired from Cricketeer and was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
Survivors include: a son, Robert P. Springate of Danville; a brother, Maurice Dean of Mercer County; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Eudora) Sutherland of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Francis Springate.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) and after 7 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
DONALD STOUT
Donald Eugene Stout Sr., 57, of 106 Walnut St., Salvisa, died Friday, Oct. 5 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 21, 1944 in Retreat, IN, he was the son of Ivan (Boone) Eugene and Louise Pearl Spail Stout.
Mr. Stout worked for Quebec Or World, Versailles. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Survivors include: his wife, Josephine Harris Stout of Salvisa; two sons, Donald Eugene Stout Jr. of Indianapolis and Douglas Stout of Frankfort; a daughter, Nancy Chipman of Frankfort; two brothers, Billy Joe Stout of Columbus, IN, and Larry Dean Stout of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Sarah Monroe and Elsie Bowman, both of Crothersville, IN, and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Stout, a brother, Charles Stout Sr., and a sister, Shirley Stout.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating.

FREEDA WILSON
Freeda O. Wilson, 82, of 1693 Danville Rd., Harrodsburg, died Saturday Oct. 6, 2001 at the residence of her daughter.
Born Oct. 10, 1918 in Russell Co., she was the daughter of the Fred B. and Gertrude Cunningham Robertson and was the widow of L.W. Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson worked as a retired bookkeeper for Ransdell Funeral Chapel and L. W. Wilson and Sons Contracting. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, past secretary and treasurer. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a former member of the Mercer County Board of the American Red Cross.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lois W. Ransdell; three sons, Jerry L. Wilson, Paul A. Wilson and Joe D. Wilson, all of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Royce Felton Robertson, Russell Springs and O.D. Robertson, Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Hope Tarter, Liberty, Treva Foley, and Geneva Reeves, both of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Smith.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, with Ed Orberson and Harold Best officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons and honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

EUGENE COMPTON
Eugene B. Compton, 75, of Lexington, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at St. Joseph hospital in Lexington.
A native of Bohon, he was a son of Viola Burton Lester, Lexington and the late Russell T. Compton.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, Chief, U. S. Navy (retired) and a model train builder.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: four daughters, Norma Hungate, Harrodsburg, Cheryl Butler, Louisville, Debra Copeland, Orlando, FL and Marette Sopris, Milton, FL; one sister, Jane Compton, Lexington; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Compton.
There will be no visitation.
A burial at sea will be conducted by the U. S. Navy.

ANNA PRICE
Anna Jewell Hiles Price, 79, of Earle Avenue, Falmouth, died Friday, October 5, 2001 at the Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.
Born September 3, 1922 in Bracken County, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Lorella Meyers Hiles. She was the widow of Cecil Thomas “Jack” Price.
She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church in Pendleton County.
Survivors include: three children, Kenneth Mitchell Price, Newark, OH, Leonard Ray (Lorraine) Price, Harrodsburg, Regina Darlene Price (James) Groninga, Clyde, TX; two sisters, Betty Colvin and Marjorie McNees, both of Falmouth; 10 grandchildren four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Deloris Price Ramsey Stone, and two sons, Danny Keith Price and Larry Gayle Price.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 8, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. John Byard officiating. Burial was in Neave Cemetery, Bracken County.
Pallbearers were Darrin Ramsey, Jeffery Price, Randy Colvin, Kevin Colvin, Judge Henry Bertram and Barry Cordray. Honorary bearers were granddaughters.
Memorials are suggested to the Oakland Christian Church, Pendleton County.
LOU ANNE QUALLS
Lou Anne Duncan Qualls, 45, of Burgin, died Friday, October 12, 2001, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 15, 1956 in Danville, she was the daughter of Jack and Joyce Anderson Duncan of Junction City.
She was employed as an assistant director by the Harrodsburg Board of Education’s Family Resource Center and a graduate of Boyle County High School.
She was a former coordinator of the Bluegrass Community Action Agency in Lincoln County, a former Whirlpool employee and was an artist, craftsperson, seamstress, painter and woodworker.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her husband, Mike R. Qualls, Burgin; four sons, Michael Lee Qualls and Samuel Ray Qualls, both of Burgin; John Edward Qualls, Danville, Randolph Scott Qualls, Winchester; one sister, Benida Gordon, Hustonville; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 16, at the Burgin Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hamby officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Dennis, Tommy Joe Dennis, David Hatfield, Joe Osbourn, Bo Goodlett, Frank Edwards, Kelvin Hundley and Robbie Vandiver. Honorary bears were close friends.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Burgin Baptist Church and Fibromayalgia research.
CAROL RANSDELL
Carol Louis Ransdell, 64, of Cardinal Meadows died Sunday, October 14, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born October 26, 1936 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Curtis N. and Edith Gilman Allen Ransdell.
He was a landscaper, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a veteran of the US Navy.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Virginia Culligan, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Kenneth R. Ransdell, Clinton, MD and Curtis Ransdell, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Ransdell.
Funeral services, with military rites, were held Wednesday, October 17, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Steve Sleeper officiating.
Memorials may go to the charity of one’s choice.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
