Violet Steele, 76, Danville Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Sunday, October 14, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born June 11, 1925 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Zannar McGinnis Collier.
She was a former employee of Cricketeer and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Peggy Steele Hurst and Brenda Steele Mobley, both of Mercer County; one brother, Belve Collier, Mercer County; four sisters, Elizabeth Scott, MI, Alma Isham and Lee Ora Tyler, both of Harrodsburg, Lillian Tyler, Burgin; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 16, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Tyler, Chuck Tyler, John David Tyler, Willard Butch Steele, Wayne Steele, and Mitchell Steele.
RAYMOND WEBB
Raymond B. Webb, 83, of 2624 Bohon Road, Harrods-burg, died Monday, October 15, 2001, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born September 13, 1918 in Laurel County, he was the son of the late Ed and Sally House Webb.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Scott Webb of Mercer County, one brother, Orland Webb of Mercer County, one sister Mrs. Pauline Ryan of TN; two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Webb and a brother, Herman Webb.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Baldauff officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Willie B. Horn, Garnett Ruble, Bob Richmond, Richard Scott, Mark Johnson, Caroll Burton, Gary Tatum and Wathan Bottom.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
WILLIAM WILDER Jr.
William Daniel Wilder, Jr., 77, of Georgetown, GA, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 23, 1924 in Danville, he was the son of the late William D. Sr. and Hettie Wilson Wilder.
He was a retired Georgia state employee, a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church and an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one daughter, Teri (Tom) Cox, Lexington; one son, John David Wilder, Lexington; one sister, Eliza (Claude) Freeman, Lebanon, OH; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 17, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

BRUCE WILLIAMS
Bruce Edwin Williams, 43, Simpson Street, Junction City, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 23, 1958 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Walter Carroll and Margie Grubbs Williams.
He was a construction worker, avid fisherman, a hunter and made knives.
Survivors include: three sons, Dustin Williams, Colorado Springs, CO, Nicholas Phillips and Timothy Phillips, both of Moreland; one daughter, Brandy Richie; five brothers, Carroll Williams, Steve Williams, Kenny Williams, Jimmy Williams and Mark Williams, all of Harrodsburg; five sisters, Phyllis Williams, Becky Williams, Denise Abrams, and Rita Elliott, all of Harrodsburg, and Lisa Deringer of Washington County.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 12, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Calia officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robbie Williams, Tony Harmon, Shayne Abrams, Scottie Williams, Shawn Williams and Timmy Williams. Honorary bearers were Matt Abrams, Jamie Williams, Foster Elliott, Chris Williams, Justin Williams, Randy Williams, Derek Williams, Lee Williams, George Barnes, Adam Elliott, Andrew Williams and James Barnes.
WILLIAM BEASLEY
William “Mutt” Beasley, 74, Cornishville Road, died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at his residence.
Born January 26, 1927 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late William Wilcher and Gertrude Houchins Beasley.
He was a retired construction worker for S&M Construction Company in Cleveland, OH and a farmer.
He was a veteran of the US Army, served in the Korean War and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include: his wife, Loretta Beasley, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Joyce Sims, Harrodsburg, Phyllis Jane Christopher, Lexington; two sons, William Thomas Beasley, Harrodsburg, Buddy Lee Beasley, Richmond; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Alonzo and Bud Beasley; one sister, Barbara Jean Beasley.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Coslow, Bobby Hooper, Calvin Chrisman, Charlie Baker, Willie B. Horn and Chad Horn. Honorary bearers were Cleo Baker, Sr., Forrest Cannon and Ralph Holiday.
MARSHALL CLARK
Marshall Lee Clark, 84, of Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Born September 3, 1917 in Mackville, he was the son of the late Judge William Nelson and Maude Devine Clark.
The was the owner of Marshal Clark Auto Sales in Lexington, a 30 year member of Immanual Baptist Church, Lexington, and had received his 50 year Merit Pin as a Mason.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Rogers Clark, Lexington; three step sons, Steve Withrow, Lexington, Mark Withrow, Caldwell, OH, Mike Withrow, Paris; one sister, Jesta Arnold, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Clark and a sister, Judy Clark Conn.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 22, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Loscalzo officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sonny Norris, Clark Conn, Phillip Norris, Mark Withrow, Mike Withrow and Steve Withrow. Honorary bearers were the Men’s Sunday School Class of Immanual Baptist Church.
JOHN FRITTS
John Forrest Fritts, 55, of Georgetown, died Friday, October 19, 2001 at Georgetown Community Hospital.
He was born November 30, 1945 in Harrodsburg, son of Charles L. and Ruby VanArsdale Fritts.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Somerset. A land surveyor and an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Brooks Riley Fritts, Georgetown; one daughter, Robyn Allen, Somerset; one son, John Daniel Fritts, Ft. Myers, FL; one step son, Mike Riley, Georgetown; two step daughters, Kay Thompson and Gina Mullin, both of Georgetown; four sisters, Gene (Bob) Ramsey, Memphis, TN, Mary Connelly, Sparr, FL, Van Fritts, Frankfort, Susan Franklin, Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23, at the Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown, with Bro. John Cravens officiating. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Brian Franklin, Grant Franklin, Donald Thompson, Jay Brooks, Billy Mullin and Tony Childress.
ELVIN HEDGSPETH
Elvin Hedgspeth, 67, of Louisville, brother of Rita Hardin, Harrodsburg, died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at the Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating.
Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
There was no visitation.
GARDNER McKAY
Gardner McKay, 41, of 221 W. Jefferson Street, Danville, died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at his residence.
Born April 4, 1960 in Reading, OH, he was the son of Newell Foster and Anna Ray Langford Hooker, of Danville.
He worked as a medical technician for Central Baptist Hospital and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: one brother, John Hooker, Moreland; one sister, Miranda Ruggles, Danville.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 20, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. James McPherson officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
SISTER THERESE MARTIN MATTINGLY
Sister Therese Martin Mattingly, 94, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph in Maple Mount, Ky., died Oct. 20, 2001, at Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse. She was in her 74th year of religious life.
A native of Loretto, Sister Therese Martin was an educator in Kentucky parochial schools for 55 years. In 1954, she opened St. Andrew School in Harrodsburg and taught there until 1960.
Her ministry also included St. Ann School, Howardstown; St. Columba, St. Denis, and St. Bartholomew schools, Louisville; St. Bernard School, Clementsville; Holy Name of Mary School, Calvary; St. Andrew School, Harrodsburg, and St. Paul School, Leitchfield. She was principal and teacher at St. Charles and St. Augustine Schools in Lebanon. From 1984 to l996 she served as outreach minister in Benton. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1996.
Sister Therese Martin was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by several nieces and a nephew and the members of her religious community.
Services were Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel in Maple Mount and burial was in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount.
