Lois V. Sebastian Hume, 79, Village Square, Lancaster, died Sunday, November 4, 2001 at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born March 4, 1922 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Elsie Long Sebastian. She was the widow of Charlie Thomas Hume.
She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and had retired from the former Tocco Sewing Factory in Wilmore.
Survivors include: three daughters, Carol Jean (David) Ray and Nancy Helen (Bobby) Young, both of Lancaster, Patsy Charlene (Robert B.) Bailey, Mercer County; one son, Jackie Ray (Vicki) Hume, Lancaster; two brothers, Paul Sebastian and William Sebastian, both of Lancaster; three sisters, Lillian Hume, Lancaster, Ruth Oakes, Greensburg, IN, Jane Marquart, Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, one step grandson, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Clay Hume and a brother, Herald Sebastian.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, at Ramsey Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Bryce McCulley. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth “Skinner” Prewitt, David Sebastian, Ronnie Hume, Rayford Wilmont, Thomas Hume and Wesley Naylor.
CARL KING
Carl King, 69, of Old Dixville Road, died Saturday, November 3, 2001 at his residence.
Born July 29, 1933 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William “Bill” and Pearly Cooley King. He was the widower of Ruth White King.
He was a former City of Harrodsburg employee where he worked at Spring Hill Cemetery and enjoyed fishing and motor sports.
Survivors include: one son, Cash Ray Moore, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Orvill Leslie King, Raymond Melvin King, Calvin King, Henry Garland King and Lowell A. King; four sisters, Mable King Cross, Ruby Mae King Waits, Barbara Jean King McCrystal and Georgia Isham King.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 6, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Coontz officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Moore, Donnie Stinnett, Joey Wesley, Rusty Davis, Toby Collier and Jeff Raider.
LAWRENCE LAY III
Lawrence “Larry” Lay III, 50, of 5903 N. Point Court, Midlothian, VA, died Sunday, November 4, 2001 at his residence.
Born August 6, 1951 in Mercer County, he was the son of Lawrence and Eva Ashford Lay Jr. of Harrodsburg.
He worked as a chemist and ballistic expert for Allied Signal Corp. and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
He received his bachelors degree from Western Kentucky University and a masters from Averitt College.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Bailey Lay, Midlothian, VA; one son, James Lawrence Lay, Midlothian, VA; one brother, James Edward Lay, Harrodsburg; on sister, Diane Carter, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marvin Wells, Marvin Ashford, Ronald Ashford, Jimmy Hyte Ashford , Sammy Carr and Vic Muncie.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
AARON MORSE
Aaron J. Morse, 39, of 5119 Euclid Ave., Louisville, died Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at his residence.
Born October 28, 1962 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Patricia Dagget Morse, Harrodsburg, and the late Reuel Morse.
He worked as a roofer and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wfie, Judy Russio Morse; two step sons, Allen Kenny and Charles Rogers III; one step daughter, Tracy Kenny; five brothers, Gary Michael Morse, Rome, GA, Reuel Richard Morse, Lexington, John Paul Morse, Lawrenceburg, William Patrick Morse, Harrodsburg, Phillip Cotter Morse, Corbin; one sister, Linda Burgess, Richmond, VA; four step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Joseph Muench officiating. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic Church or the charity of one’s choice.
There will be no visitation.
ALBERT PREWITT
Albert Prewitt, 91, formerly of Danville Street, Burgin, died Saturday, November 3, 2001 at the Rose Manor Nursing Home in Lexington.
Born January 1, 1910 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John S. and Onie Prewitt. He was the widower of Mary Elizabeth Brim Prewitt.
He was a retired farmer, member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.
He was an avid UK basketball fan and a gardener.
Survivors include: three sons, Albert Prewitt, Jr. and Frank Prewitt, both of Danville, Gene Prewitt, Richmond, IN; one daughter, Gayle Prewitt, Harrodsburg; one brother Grover Prewitt, Danville; one sister, Alice (Everett) Kidd, Danville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 5, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Thacker, Granville Sherrow, Steven Prewitt, Dennis Prewitt, William Ziesmer and Jonathan Grizzell. Honorary bearers were Orland Webb, Jimmie Motley and Gene Motley.
LILLIE SALLEE
Lillie Fields Sallee, 87, Cornishville Road, died Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 16, 1914 in Bell County, she was the daughter of the late James and Millie Gray Fields. She was the widow of William Russell Sallee, Sr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Bobby S. Sallee, Harrodsburg, Michael Troy Sallee, Floyds Knobs, IN, William Russell Sallee, Jr., Lexington; one daughter, Pauline S. Richmond, Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessie Louise Sallee Travillian, two brothers, George and Michael Fields, one sister, Mary Cornett, one grandson and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2001 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial will be in the Cornishville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Sallee, Edward Sallee, Bradley Sallee, Brandon Sallee, Joseph Travilian and William Sallee.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JANE SHERROW
Jane Allen Sherrow, 70, of 546 Shenandoah Drive, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at her residence.
Born September 29, 1931 in Nicholasville, she was the daughter of the late Paul S. and Ida Belle Welch Hunter.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Mercer Veterinary Clinic, Arrowhead Farm, and Woodstock Horse Farm. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church and the Mercer County Humane Society.
Survivors include: her husband, Bobby Lee Sherrow, Harrodsburg; one son, Greg Sherrow, Cannon Country, CA; one sister, Ann Hunter Merriman, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Geurin officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Greg Sherrow, Billy Drury, Mark Merriman, Paul Wayne Christopher, Todd Sherrow and Mike Merriman.

OWEN SPEAKS
Owen Lee Speaks, 82, of Louisville, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
He was a native of Mercer County, a retired security guard for Wells Fargo/Pony Express and an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one sister, Marthalene Davis, Shepherdsville; two nieces, two nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 2, at the Hardy-Close Funeral Home in Shepherdsville with Rev. Kelly Whitehurst officiating. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington.
CLARENCE BOSWELL
Clarence B. “Preacher” Boswell, 72, of Hwy. 1016 in Berea, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at his residence.
Born July 25, 1929 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late James and Eva Tatum Boswell.
He was retired from Martina Construction Company in Lexington and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Army.
Survivors include: his wife, Juanita Wren Boswell, Berea; four sons, Freddie (Sharon) Boswell, Harrodsburg, James Boswell, Lexington, Barry (Sharon) Boswell, Waco, Billy (Jean) Boswell, Danville; three daughters, Darlene (Lee) King, Lexington; Susie Traylor, Lexington, Neita (Oscar) Combs, Berea; one step daughter, Rita (Hubert) Stafford, Nicholasville; five sisters, Mary (Thurman) Tipton, Richmond, Katherine (Ralph) Cox, Waco, Irene (Luther) Hacker, Oneida, Mae (Hockaday) Adams, Kirksville, Doris Boswell Harrison, Richmond, IN; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Reed, Jake, Earl, James, Marvin and Ed Boswell.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 14 at the Williams Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. William Payne officiating. Burial was in Berea Cemetery.

ELSIE BURNS
Elsie Burns, 91, of Horn Road, died Thursday, November 8, 2001 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.
Born October 8, 1910 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Burtrum and Emma Dora Claunch Clark. She was the widow of Howard Venson Burns.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Viola Fern) Grigsby, Harrodsburg; one son, John Clark Burns, Mercer County; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Logan and William Jerome (Billy) Burns, one brother, William Harvey Clark; three sisters, Hallie Marie Buzzard, Ruby Nevius and Myrtle Scrogham.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Click officiating. Burial was in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Winfield Tyler, Floyd Hillard, Perry Harp, Wayne Russell, Joe Russell and Kenny Coyle.
