Betsy Lee Yocum Logue, 53, of 600 Ashwood Court, died Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 29, 1948 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Yocum and Bessie Lunsford Sires. She was the widow of James A. “Slick” Logue.
She was an inspector for Osram Sylvania and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, James “Bo” Logue and Michael Travis Logue, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Sidney Yocum, Harrodsburg, and C. J. Yocum, Muncie, IN; two sisters, Judy Rogers, Lawrenceburg, and Nancy Keith, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, Ashton LaShay Logue and Addison Marie Logue.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 21, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Harris, William “Pistol” Quinn, Donald Goodlett, Walter Rowe, Steve Stewart, Robert Lyons, Harvey Rowe and Brian Lyons.
NORMA MAY
Norma Jo May, 66, of Lexington, died Sunday, July 14, 2002 at her residence.
A native of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Smith and the late Myrtle Hatchell (Joe) Hisle.
She was a former secretary for C. V. Whitney, Elmendorf Farm and Man-O-War farms.
Survivors include: one son, Alan (Diane) May, Winchester; one daughter, Alisa May, Pullman, WA; two sisters, Diane (Dennis) Johnson, Roswell, GA, and Dale Sutherland, Houston, TX, two grandchildren, James Largent, Colfax, WA and Rebekah Largent, Pullman, WA.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 20, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, with Dr. David Renwick officiating.

ISRAEL VALENCIA ORTIZ
Israel Valencia Ortiz, 26, of 223 Second Street, Perryville, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Born August 15, 1975 in Cheran Michoacan, Mexico, he was the son of Reynoldo Valencia Reyes and Ma Concepcion Ortiz Sanchez, and the husband of Paula Madonna Hartman Valencia, all of Perryville.
He was an employee of Mr. Kwik Car Wash and attended the Salt River Baptist Church in Boyle County.
Survivors, in addition to his parents and wife, include: one son, Israel Ray Valencia, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Gloria Valencia, Harrodsburg, and Sandra Valencia, Mexico; two brothers, Hugo Valencia Ortiz and Kevin Valencia Ortiz, both of Perryville; two sisters, Gloria Valencia Ortiz, Lebanon and Erica Valencia Ortiz, Mexico.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Father Paul Prabel and Rev. Bob Bausum officiating. Burial was in the Purepero Michoacan, Mexico.
JUAN VALENCIA ORTIZ
Juan Carlos Valencia Ortiz, 22, of 223 Second Street, Perryville, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

WILLIAM RICHARDSON
William Earl Richardson, 47, of 436 Tabler Avenue, died Friday, July 19, 2002 at his residence.
Born July 17, 1955 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Bonnie Tate Richardson and the late Charles Richardson.
He was a retired Arrowhead Horse Farm employee.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: three brothers, Herbie Richardson, Mt. Olivet, Luke and Steven Richardson, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Martha Richardson, Harrodsburg, and Mary Sanford, Springfield; his step grandfather, Garnett Leonard, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Floyd Henry and James Carroll officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Richardson, Anthony Richardson, Chris Devine, Jeromy Richardson, Christopher Rich-ardson and Nathan Richardson.
MARGARET RUSSELL
Margaret “Maggie” Russell, 84, of Mooreland Avenue, died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born February 28, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Tyler and Stella Lester Tyler. She was the widow of John C. Russell.
She was a homemaker, child care giver and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Hendren, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Michelle Readnower (Lynn) Russell, Burgin; Jamie Hendren (Sam) Stow, and Kristi Hendren, both of Harrodsburg, and Lee (Susan) Readnower, Harrodsburg; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, John C. Russell Jr., and Thomas Leon Russell, one daughter, Lynda Carolyn Readnower, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Sam Stow and Bro. Hilary Claypool officiating. Burial was in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Hendren, Dave Readnower, Brett Chamberlain, Gene Strickland, Lee Readnower, Lynn Russell, and Paul Dyke. Honorary bearers were members of her Sunday School Class at Deep Creek Baptist Church.
RUBY ZUMBROOK
Ruby Ballard Zumbrook, 95, formerly of Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, and Atlanta, GA, died Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 24, 1906 in Whitley County, she was the daughter of the late George Mingus and Minnie Wilder Ballard. She was the widow of Paul Zumbrook.
She was a retired school teacher in Georgia, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Decatur, GA, a graduate of Centre College and a former officer in the Garden Club of Atlanta. She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Dr. G. T. Ballard, Dr. Robert Ballard, Oscar Ballard, Grover Ballard, Ted Ballard, Joe Ballard and John Talbert Ballard.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 20, at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating.
RUTH BEALL
Ruth Ellen Beall, of Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the home of her son.
Born in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lula Connor Sandusky. She was the widow of David Lyle Beale.
She had been an art teacher for the Harrodsburg School System and a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. National Society of Magna Charta Dames, Memorial Foundation of Germanna Colonies in VA, Jamestown Society and the Kenmore Society.
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School, attended the University of KY and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sorority.
She loved painting, but experimented with other art forms. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and searching out genealogy.
Survivors include: one son, Joseph (Janet) Polsgrove, Lexington; one grandson, Joseph S. Polsgrove II, NC; one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 29, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Greg Chandler officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Polsgrove II, Richard Foley, Taylor Foley, Bill Foley, Lyen Crews and Marshall Ward.

ESTHER BYRNSIDE
Esther Katherine Christman Byrnside, 96, of Covington Avenue, Springfield, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Norton Spring View Nursing Home in Lebanon.
Born August 3, 1905 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth Schweiher Christman. She was the widow of Minor Byrnside.
She was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church, a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College.
She was a longtime English teacher, having taught at Springfield High School from 1957 to 1962 and prior to that at the Lebanon High School.
Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Septer, Levittown, PA; two grandsons, Michael Septer, Langhorn, PA and Gregory Septer, Trenton, NJ; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. Sam Clark and Rev. Carl Hudson. Burial was in the Ryder Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Septer, Gregory Septer, Leo Keeling, Patrick Septer, Ike Thacker and Eric Thacker.
BERNICE CLARK
Viola Bernice Clark, 75, of 1001 Rosemont Avenue, Danville, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born January 7, 1927 in Burgin, she was the daughter of the late Marion Bell and Florence Denny Hawkins.
She was a homemaker, a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church and a graduate of Midway College.
Survivors include: her husband, Ralph H. Clark Sr., Danville; one daughter, Betty Clark Niemeier, O’Fallon, MO; three sons, Richard Clark, Richmond, Ralph Clark, Jr., Harrodsburg, and Don Clark, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two brothers, Lawrence Hawkins, Burgin, Fred Hawkins, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Elizabeth Crutchfield, Lancaster, Thelma Jean Gullett, Harrodsburg, and Pauline H. Hughes, AZ; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hawkins.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 29, 2002, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rev. David Ross officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Niemeier, Mat Edwards, Chris Clark, Brian Niemeier, Mike Barnard and John Wayne Peavler.

STEPHEN McCLELLAN
Stephen D. McClellan, Fort Worth, TX, died Monday, July 22, 2002.
Born January 25, 1960 in Fort Worth, he was the son of John David and Elsie McClellan.
He was a draftsman and a member of Central Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Verna Pecht McClellan; one daughter, Caitlyn McClellan; one son, Ian McClellan; one brother, Kenneth McClellan, one sister, Davina McClellan; his father- and mother-in-law, Vernon and Lynda Pecht; one brother-in-law, James Pecht.
He was the nephew of Martha McCloud of Harrodsburg and grandson of the late Martha and Loys McClellan.
A memorial service was held Friday, July 26, at Central Lutheran Church, Dallas with Rev. Walter Klockers officiating.
