MICHAEL ELLIOTT
Michael B. Elliott, 42, of Gravel Switch, died Monday, September 2, 2002.
Born August 30, 1960 in Marion County, he was a son of Norman and Marilyn Orberson Elliott of Gravel Switch.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and a member of the Manna Harvest Tabernacle.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Sons of American Legion, National Wild Turkey Federation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Angela Miller Elliott, Gravel Switch; one son, Daniel B. Elliott, Gravel Switch; two step daughters, Jessica Crain, Burgin, and Tammie Baker, Parksville; one sister, Mitzi Smith, Gravel Switch; one brother, Marty Elliott, Danville; maternal Grandmother, Naomi Hourigan, Lebanon; three step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Bo Crain.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 4, at the Perryville United Methodist Church by Jerry Lanham, John Hockersmith, Gerald Gaddis and Marty Elliott.
Pallbearers were Todd Simpson, Jim Headley, Ricky Hourigan, Barry Elliott, Eddie Lanham and Allen Ellis. Honorary bearers were Randy Douglas, Rex Whitlock, Burbin, Randy, Donnie and Willie Goode, Neal Conder, Rick Smith, Dr. Don Hamner, Ed Lanham, Steven Orberson, Sammy Baker, Monte and Jimmy Larry Elliott and Ralph Dever.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Heritage Hospice, Manna Harvest Tabernacle and The Gideons.

MARY ELLIS
Mary Frances Ellis, 60, of 425 Medow Park, Lexington, died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at her residence.
Born June 30, 1942 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Catherine Hill Lyons, Harrodsburg, and the late James Lyons.
She worked as a teacher’s aide for Community Action Head Start and was an employee of K-Mart for some time. She was a member of Durbin Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, James Ellis, Sr., Lexington; one son, James (Susie) Ellis Jr., Lexington; four daughters, Laurie Ellis, Largo, FL, Sandy E. Ellis, Angela Ellis, and Betty Sue (Chuck) Jennette, all of Lexington; two brothers, Willis Lyons, Harrodsburg, and Floyd Lyons, Danville; one sister, Mable Estes, Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Lyons.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chuck Luke officiating. Burial was in the Tanyard Cemetery in Forkland.
Pallbearers were James Ellis III, Chuck Jennette, Randy Dixon, Paul Mullins, Gary Garrett and James Raymond Garrett.
DONALD GADBERRY
Donald L. Gadberry, 66, of Gose Pike, Danville, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at his residence.
Born November 30, 1935 in Boyle County, he was the son of Virgil Gadberry and the late Mildred Howard Gadberry.
He was a retired employee of American Greetings Company, a retired veteran of the U. S. Air Force and National Guard, and a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Keller Gadberry, Danville; two daughters, Debra Kosnow, Summerville, SC and Karen Smith, Paris, Three sons, Donnie Gadberry, Atlanta, GA, Derek Gadberry, Summerville, SC and Joey Smith, Danville; one sister, Marlene Freeman, Harrodsburg and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am. Thursday, September 5, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Tommy Valentine officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.
Pallbearers will be Cecil McCarty, Glenn Adington, Randy Douglas, Ralph Broaddus, Ernie Whitlock and Butch Taylor. Honorary bearers will be members of the Anglers Sunday School Class.
Visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4.
DARRELL TURNER
Darrell Turner, 42, of Perryville Street, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 20, 1959 in Boyle County, he was the son of Rose Etta Hurst Turner, Harrodsburg, and the late Jerre Logan Turner.
A 1978 graduate of Mercer County High School, he was a former employee of Shawnee Farm and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was an avid UK basketball fan.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: one daughter, Amanda Arlene Turner, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Sherry Turner Kelley, Lexington, and Teresa Turner (Ronnie) Coffman, Burgin.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Linh Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in the Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee Coffman, Jacob Kelley, Mike Turner, Dalton Hurst, Byford Hurst, Randy McGinnis and Tony Hurst.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 am. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
WILLIAM BROCE
William “Harrison” Broce, 79, of 199 Burke Road, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002 in Harrodsburg.
Born January 28, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Hattie Shewmaker Broce. He was the widower of Maymie Moore Broce.
He was a retired maintenance employee for Joseph E. Seagram Distillery in Lawrenceburg.
Survivors include: one son, Ronnie (Barbara) Broce, Salvisa; one brother, Donald Broce, Thomasville, GA; two sisters, Juanita Harley, Frankfort, and Nellie Fuqua, San Angelo, TX; two grandchildren, Joshua Broce and Jeremy Bugg and one great grandchild, Noah Bugg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Friday, September 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ken Calia officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Salvisa.
Pallbearers will be Charles Harley, Douglas Harley, Danny Broce, Winston Preston, Paul Preston Jr., Jimmy Baker, James Carroll and Hubert “Pud” Peavler. Honorary bearers will be Earl Lowry, Wayne Becknell, George Omer Moore, Hue Elmer Otis and William Otis.

MARGIE CLOYD
Margie Evelyn Cloyd, 89, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 23, 1913 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Ray and Hattie Mae Shewmaker Blacketer.
She was a retired employee for Enro Shirt Company in Louisville and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: seven brothers, Loren Blacketer, San Francisco, CA, Marvin (Angela) Blacketer, Franklin, TN, Charles (Marie) Blacketer, Lawrenceburg; Joe Blacketer, Harrodsburg, Carl (Nancy) Blacketer, New Albany, IN, Paul (Peggy) Blacketer, Harrodsburg, and Bill Blacketer; five sisters, Lucille Burke, Cornishville, Juanita (Leslie) Pearson, Moberly, MO, Norene (Bob) Bruecks, Sarasota, FL, Lavone (Marion) Kays, Marshallville, OH, and Laverne (Larry) Lee, Rockford, MI.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in the Willisburg Cemetery.

ARGO DEAN
Argo “Harrison” Dean, 55, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Born May 29, 1947 in Mercer County, he was the son of Argo Dean and the late Martha Hardin Dean.
He worked for the U. S. Postal Service and was a member of Magnolia Street Christian Church, Mercer Lodge 777, F&AM and Oleika Shrine Temple.
He was an army veteran having served during Vietnam and also 20 years in the Army Reserve. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include: his father, Argo Dean, Harrodsburg; his wife, Karen G. Barker Dean, Harrodsburg; two stepsons, Jay Kelsey, Chicago, IL and Jeffrey Kelsey, Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters, Phyllis Devine and Nora Dean, both of Harrodsburg; four step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 11, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Atha officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Devine, Jay Kelsey, Jeff Kelsey, Bill VanLandingham, Hobert Cheatham and Allen Hardin.

WILLIAM KELLEY
William Samuel Kelley, 60, of Frankfort, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at his residence.
He was a native of Garrard County.
He was a retired employee of Corning Glass Works, and a member of Magnolia Street Christian Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: his mother, Ella Smith Kelley Warner, Frankfort; two sons, William S. Kelley Jr. and Troy O’Neal Kelley, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Fred Eugene Warner, Harrodsburg, and Ricky Gale Warner, Frankfort; two sisters, Anna Bingham, Frankfort, and Mildred Meadows, FL.
Graveside services were held Thursday, September 5, in Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Wallace Kent officiating.
Pallbearers were Willie Warner, Scott Tracy, Mike McMillen, Michael Blanton, Cleveland Clark Jr., Benji Finfrock, Timmy Warner, Bobby Doss and Kelly Young.
MARY WALTER
Mary Lawson Walter, 94, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Oak Grove Rehabilitation and Living Center in Waterville, ME.
Born in New Hope, November 6, 1907, she was the daughter of the late David Dickson and Stella Smith Lawson. She was the widow of James M. Walter.
She grew up in the Burgin area and graduated from Burgin High School in 1924. She attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, graduating in 1926, and also attended the University of Kentucky.
She was a homemaker, worked as a substitute teacher for a number of years and also served as a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid gardener.
Survivors include: one son, James M. (Sarah) Walter Jr., Longwood, FL; one daughter, Melda (Robert) Page, Belgrade, ME; one sister, Lucille Thacker, Burgin; and two grandsons.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 12, at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Avenue East, Brandenton, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oak Grove Rehabilitation and Living Center, 27 Cool St. Waterville, ME 04901 or the Belgrade Regional Health Center, School Street, Belgrade Lakes, ME 04918.
