CLEO BAKER SR.

Cleo W. “Click” Baker Sr., 77, of Stoner Street, died Monday, September 16, 2002 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born May 23, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Willie and Annie B. Carr Baker.

He was retired from Gardner and Pinkston Antique Furniture Store and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of Douglas Laws Post #52, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and had attended Grace Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He loved gardening and was a UK fan.

Survivors include: his former wife, Viola Watts Baker; two sons, Cleo W. Baker, Jr. and Harold D. (Cookie) Baker, both of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Carole (Gary) Griffieth and Mrs. Vonny (Billy) Humphrey, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Ronald Frog Baker and Fonnie Baker, both of Mercer County; three sisters, Annelle Collier and Freda Settles, both of Harrodsburg, and Barbara Green, Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wayne Baker, three brothers, John, Maurice and Bobby Baker, and two sisters, Helen Simpson and Gertrude Baker.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial with military honors was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were George Buchanan, William Pinkston, Elwood Humphrey, Donnie Tyler, Clarence Goodpaster, and Billy Steele. Honorary bearers were grandchildren, Michael Griffieth, Vicki Griffieth, Carla Baker Bensinger, Jennifer Baker, Sarah Baker, Doug Baker, Sam Baker, Nick Humphrey and Lynsey Humphrey.

ANNA BEAVERS

Anna Belle Beavers, 84, Highway 433, Mackville, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at the Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.

A native of Washington County, she was born October 17, 1917 to the late Robert Adams and Eliza Jane Lambert Ross.

She was a member of Mt. Freedom Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Johnny Ancil Beavers; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Judy) Carey, Cardwell, and Mrs. Leonard (Carolyn) Walston of Mt. Washington; two grandsons, Tim and Chris Walston; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Walston, Alyssa Walston and Ty Walston. She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Wagoner Ross, Ben Ross and Robert D. Ross, and two sisters, Mattie Coslow and Almeda Young.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 17, at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, with Rev. John McDaniel, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.

Pallbearers were Tim Walston, Chris Walston, Mike Byrd, Ray Craig, Ed Redmon, Jimmy Dale Hawthorne, Henry Beavers and Junior Burkhead.

Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, was in charge of arrangements.

LOUISE FIELDS

Louise Fields, 86, of 459 Sycamore Court, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.

Born September 6, 1916 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of John Ludwick and Martha “Mattie” Elizabeth Nichols Fields.

She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she taught the fifth grade Sunday School Class for 30 years.

Survivors include a sister, Jane Fields, Harrodsburg, and a number of cousins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Salt River Cemetery in Boyle County.

Pallbearers were Jerry Caton, Frances Caton, Daryl Catlett, David Taylor, Steve Caton, Jeff Thurman and Kay Thurman. Honorary bearers were Howard Nichols, Stewart Warner, Tommy Hill, Norman Neal, Oscar J. Bailey, Bill Anderson, Roy Bonta, Bill Barnett and Harold P. Prewitt.

Memorials are suggested to Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

BONNIE RICHARDSON
Bonnie T. Richardson, 64, of South College Street, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born January 30, 1938 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Hazel Webb Tate. She was the widow of Charles Richardson.

She had been an employee of Beaumont Inn for several years.

Survivors include: three sons, Herbie Richardson, Mt. Olivet, Luke and Steven Richardson, both of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Martha Richardson, Harrodsburg and Mary Sanford, Springfield; one brother, A. J. Tate, AL; three sisters, Susie Merriman, Burgin, Ester Carey, Danville, and Virgie Richards, Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Danny Broce officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Anthony Richardson, Daniel Richardson, Jeremy Richardson, Christopher Richardson, Jimmy Richardson, Nathan Richardson, Robert Gregory and Chris Devine.

VALOICE ROSS

Valoice “Cotton” Ross, 73, of 607 Bellows Mill Road, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born July 5, 1929 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William “Buck” Rue and Irene Cunningham Huffman. She was the widow of Garnett Ross.

She was a retired inspector for Corning Inc. and a member of the Christian Church and a member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union.

Survivors include: two sons, David (Debbie) Whittinghill, and Kendall (Karen) Ross, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Beatrice Woods, Harrodsburg; one brother, Hassell Huffman, Harrodsburg; and one grandchild, Dylan Whittinghill.

Funeral services were held September 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tommy Barnett, Travis Abrams, Jeremy Catlett, Daryl Catlett, Lee Hart and Steve Caton. Honorary bearers were Donnie Tyler, J. C. Patterson, Bob McFatridge, Mike Robinson and Richard Lewis.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice, PO Box 1213, Danville KY 40422, or American Cancer Society, PO Box 102, Harrodsburg KY 40330.

JOANNA SALLEE

Joanna Sallee, 66, of Sallee Lane, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at her residence.

Born March 10, 1936 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Stella VanArsdall Keeling.

She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and a former cook for Shakertown.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald J. Sallee, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Betty Jo (Tony) Young, and Donna (Ronnie) Pulliam, both of Mercer County; one son, Robert (Tammy) Sallee, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Betty (Arthur) Bugg, Harrodsburg and Linda (Junior) Darnell, of Mercer County. Nine grandchildren and one step grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Delois Keeling.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 17, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Bro. Everett Priddy officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Young, Brian Sallee, Chad Young, Brad Young, Brandon Sallee, Andrew Pulliam, Ronnie Pulliam and Tony Young. Honorary bearers were Amy Jo Young, Amanda Jo Pulliam, Channing Sallee, Debbie Brown, Cindy Robinson, Teresa Bottoms, Tony Bugg, Mitch Bugg and Jeffrey Darnell.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, PO Box 102, Harrodsburg KY 40330, or Heritage Hospice, PO Box 1213, Danville KY 40422.

ROBERTA TAYLOR

Roberta Taylor, 74, of Edison, NJ died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 in West Amwell, NJ.

Born December 25, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice McGuire Taylor.

She was a member of the Raritan Valley Baptist Church in Edison, NJ and was a former clerical worker for Eastech, Inc. of Highlands, NJ.

Survivors include: three daughters, Brenda Clickner, Kendall Park, NJ, Deborah Jones, Hubert, NC and Lynn Dalziael, Orlando, FL; one son, George Phillips, West Jordan, UT; one sister, Barbara Fruegh, WA; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, William F. Phillips and James F. Webb.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Releford officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

NELSON WHITE

Nelson White, 80, of Rolling Hills, Danville, died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.

Born January 26, 1922 in Madison County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ada Conner White.

He was a member of Trinity Tabernacle Church, an army veteran of World War II and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include: his wife, Nettie Kate White, Danville; one son, Charles Nelson (Margaret Ann) White, Danville; two brothers, Joe White and Cash White, both of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Ida King, Dorothy Bugg, and Anna Laura White, all of Danville, and Nancy Johnson, Junction City; two grandchildren, Sheila Van Hook and Lesa Blevins; two great-grandchildren, Laticia Baker and Tabatha Blevins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Giles White, and four sisters, Edith Dotson, Geneva Henninger, Ruth King and Mary Boyd.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at Trinity Tabernacle by Rev. Charles N. White and Rev. Tim Van Hook. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, with military rites, by American Legion Boyle Post #46.

Pallbearers were David McDaniel, Billy Goggins, Dr. James Ramey, Dale Blevins, Robby Stratton and Arthur Roberts. Honorary bearers were Eric Blackwell, Ernie Joseph and Dr. Finley Hendrickson.

Arrangements were by Stith Funeral Home, Danville.

LEE ALLEN

Lee Shelton Allen, 70, of Smiths Grove, died September 22, 2002 at Greenview Regional Hospital.

He was a native of Metcalfe County and the son of the late Robert Mel Allen and Vivian Harlow Allen.

He was a retired employee of Holley Carburetor, a Korean War army veteran and member and deacon for 16 years of Oak Forrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Patsy Lewis Allen, Smiths Grove; three daughters, Sandra Bledsoe, Smiths Grove, Pam Williams, Harrodsburg, and Lisa Harp, Park City; one son, Garry Lewis Allen, Smiths Grove; one sister, Betty Sue Crown, Bowling Green; three brothers, Robert Neal Allen and John Calvin Allen, both of Louisville, and Gordon Kelly Allen Sr., Bowling Green; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Dale Wayne Allen.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 25, at Hardin and Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove Chapel. Burial was in Hays Cemetery.

MARY JO BAUMAN

Mary Jo Bauman, 87, Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at Mayfair Manor, Lexington. She was the widow of Walter William Bauman.

She was the daughter of Caesare Giovanelli.

She was former co-owner and operator of Northside Pharmacy with her husband and owned Kentuckiana Gifts and Mary Jo Tours.

She was a graduate of Holy Family High School in Ashland and attended the University of Kentucky in the Donovan Program.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Davidson Chorus, Harrodsburg Women’s Club and Central Kentucky Woman’s’ Business Association.

Survivors include: two sons, Walter Michael (Joyce) Bauman, Lancaster and Lawrence Phillip Bauman, Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Mary Ann Cantrill, Lexington; a step sister, Vanda Bates, Lexington; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Lexington, with Rev. Dan Noll officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Choir, 153 Barr St., Lexington, KY 40507.

W. R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway was in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES CAMBRON

Charles “Sonny” Cambron, 62, of Manton, died Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

Born January 30, 1940 at Manton, he was the son of the late Clem Basil Cambron Sr. and Florida Henrietta Cambron.

He was a farmer.

Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Simms Cambron, Manton; two daughters, Patricia (Rick) Ballard, Bardstown, and Lisa (Ernest) Kelty, Jr., Harrodsburg; two sons, Charles E. Cambron, Jr., Manton, and John Cambron, Springfield; four sisters, Josephine Gootee, Loretto, Imogene Kelly, St. Mary, Mahala Newton, Manton, and Louise Wathen, Louisville; nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, John William “Jack,” Raymond A. “Bert,”, Robert I. “Judge,” Ben Cambron and C. B. Cambron Jr., and one sister, Roberta Durbin.

Funeral mass was held Tuesday, September 24, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton, with Rev. Christopher Allegra officiating. Prayer service was held Monday at the funeral home. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Manton.

Mattingly Funeral Home in Manton was in charge of arrangements.
