Landon Taylor Phillips was stillborn on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was the son of Jeffrey Lane and Wendy Lynn Peavler Phillips of Burgin.
Additional survivors include: his maternal grandmother, Toni Turpin of Salvisa; maternal grandfather, John Peavler of Harrodsburg; paternal grandparents, Connie and Peggy Phillips of Harrodsburg; maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Jean Humber of Harrodsburg; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Hardin of Mackville.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Jimmy Owens officiating.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
HENRY FRANKLIN PRYSE
Henry Franklin Pryse, 82, of Manna Drive, Richmond died Monday, Oct. 7 at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.
A native of Beattyville, he was of the Episcopalian faith. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #25 F&AM.
He had been the basketball coach and assistant principal at Buckeye High School in Garrard County and Mercer County High School. He also had worked at the State Department of Education before going to Eastern Kentucky University, where he was on the administrative staff until retirement.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Lyen Pryse; two sons, Joe Franklin (Beth) Pryse of Boston, MA and William Thomason Pryse of Panama City, FL; a brother, Bill Pryse of Nicholasville; two sisters, Jean Martin of Dayton, OH, and Mary Adkins of Vancoover, WA, and two grandchildren.
A private memorial service with Father John Cavendish and the Rev. Tim Thompson will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to one’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army or to the memorial fund at Centre College.

ELIZABETH AMMONS
Elizabeth Erickson Ammons, 39, of 1977 New Dixville Rd., died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after a short illness.
Born Jan. 30, 1963, she was the daughter of George and Ursula Luck, Panama City Beach, FL, and the wife of Dana Mark Ammons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Worldstown Church of God in Junction City.
Survivors other than her husband and parents include one son, Dana Joe Ammons, Harrodsburg, two daughters, Hiedi Christine Ammons, and Scarlette "Mouse" Ammons, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Frank (Mary) Erickson, Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Tina (Johnny) Clark, Jacksonville, FL, Tammy (Rafael) Koscak, and Monica Luck, both of Panama City Beach,FL; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Janice Ammons of Harrodsburg, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 at the Worldstown Church of God in Junction City with the Rev. Floying Thompson officiating.
WINKIE SUE MILLER
Winkie Sue Drury Miller, 59, formerly of Lawrenceburg and Salvisa, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, after a long bout with cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Winfrey and Louise Drury and the wife of Donnie Miller. She was a nurse.
Survivors other than her husband include a son, Kent Lunsford of Harrodsburg, two daughters, Meacia (Bob) Mugge, Frankfort, and Sheena (Charles) White, of Norfolk, VA; two grandchildren, and several other special friends and family.
Private graveside services will be conducted at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Betts and West Funeral Home of Nicholasville will be charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are D. J. Lunsford, Bob Mugge, Chuck White, Tom Mugge, Robert H. Mugge, and Randy Leighty.

HOWARD EDELEN III
Howard Gable Edelen III, 29, of Belmont Court, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in Boyle County.
Born August 29, 1973 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Christine Dean Edelen of Harrodsburg and the late Howard G. Edelen Jr.
He was a 1991 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a factory worker at General Cable in Lawrenceburg and a part-time employee of Big Lots in Danville.
He attended Centennial Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: one son, Derek Bryce Edelen, Harrodsburg; Maternal grandmother, Corine Dean, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19, at Harrodsburg Baptist Church with J. D. Short III, Herbert Dunn, Phil Yates and Jeff Allen officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Andrews, James Elery, Robert Dean, Lamont Trigg, Larry Andrews, Tyrone Dean, Antonio Chenault and Tony Dean. Honorary bearers were William and Wayne Edelen and his co-workers at General Cable.
Parks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
CHARLES HURST
Charles T. “Coffee” Hurst, 83, of 795 VanArsdall Drive, died Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born February 22, 1919 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Charlie M. and Effie Wiley Hurst.
He was a retired electrical contractor, served as a magistrate for Mercer County for over 20 years and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
He was a life member of the American Legion and VFW, a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge 777 F&AM, Oleika Shrine Temple and Wilderness Shrine.
He was an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucille Davenport Hurst, Harrodsburg; three sons, Ronald T. Hurst, Glenn (Marsha) Hurst and Perry G. Hurst, all of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Sara (Richard) Sutherland, Frankfort; one sister, Mary Lowe Bowen, Louisville; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites. Masonic rites were held at the chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers were Dennis Preston, Tom Preston, Rick Preston, Bill Davis, Michael Lynn Davenport, Richard Sutherland and Eric Keller. Honorary bearers were members of the Mercer County Fiscal Court and the Glad Hand Sunday School class.
Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice.
BRAYDON JONES
Braydon Sky Xavier Caleb Lee Jones, two months old, died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Born August 3, 2002 in Danville, he was the son of Richard Caleb Rose and Nicarra Leshinna Jones.
Survivors include: maternal grandparents, Harold Coleman, Springfield, and Linda Jones, Harrodsburg; paternal grandparents, Roy and Jo Ann Rose, Harrodsburg; two great-grandmothers, Hazel Majors, Harrodsburg, and Carolyn Coleman, Springfield; one sister, Hannah Jones, Harrodsburg.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 19, 2002 with Rev. Bobby L. Potts at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
NICKEY KEY
Boone Nichols “Nickey” Sims Key, 59, of Clearbrook Drive, Danville, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at her residence.
Born January 2, 1943 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Elmer and Boone Bush Nichols Sims.
She was a retired state social worker, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and Eastern Kentucky University.
Survivors include: her husband, Jack B. Key; one son, John E. Key, Perryville; one daughter, Susan K. Shelton, Danville; two brothers, John E. Sims, Gainesville, FL and Henry Lee Sims, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 16. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice and Boyle County Humane Society.
ALBERT MEADE
Albert Jackson Meade, 93, formerly of Danville and Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born August 28, 1908 in Magoffin County, he was a son of the late Wannie C. and Mary Alice Wheeler Meade. He was the widower of Lucy Hayward Meade.
He was the owner of Meade Hardware in Harrodsburg. After his retirement he looked after real estate interests in Harrodsburg and Danville.
He was a graduate of Ashland High School where he played two years on championship football teams. He was a 1933 graduate of Centre College and received a master’s degree in business administration form the University of Kentucky.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club, Oleika Shrine Temple and all Masonic bodies. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sallie M. Howard, Frankfort, and Lucy M. Howe, Virginia Beach, VA; one son, J. Stephen Meade, Danville; two sisters, Chloe M. Baker, Harrodsburg and Nola M. LaMaster, Chillicothe, OH; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert Meade Jr., and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19, at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Thomas K. Farmer officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.
Pallbearers were James and Albert Howard, Lewis Howe, and Jedidiah and Charlie Meade. Honorary bearers were members of the Danville Coffee Club.
