Katherine E. Pankey, 86, Johnson Avenue, Lancaster, died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born June 19, 1916 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae Russell Elliott. She was the widow of Maurice Alford Pankey.
She had been a custodian for Corning Glass of Harrodsburg and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Bobby (Betty) Pankey, Bowling Green and Kyle (Sally) Pankey, Lancaster; two brothers, Albert Elliott, Mercer County and Leon Elliott, AL; two sisters, Gertie Mae Huffman, Cornishville and Betsy Goodlett, Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, W. T. Pankey, and several brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Harris and Bro. Keith Weldon officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ron Eyester, John Elliott, Frank Russell, Donnie Lawson, Steve Elliott and David Peavler.

HERSCHEL PEAVLER
Herschel R. Peavler, 95, of South Church Street in Mackville, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at the home of his son Gerald.
Born April 22, 1907 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Will and Mary Jane Camden Peavler. He was the widower of Ruby Bugg Peavler.
He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include: a son, Gerald (Mary Will) Peavler, Mackville; two daughters, JoAnn (Blair) Smith, Mt. Washington, Judy (Gary) Jenkins, Louisville; seven grandchildren, Mary Brown Peavler, Marsha Baker, Jennifer Hoglen, Melva Reid White, David Jenkins, Joe Peavler and Carla Brown; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Peavler, four brothers, Joe Peavler, Chester Peavler, H. G. Peavler and Allen Peavler, and a great-granddaughter, Robin White.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 18, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. David Gifford and Rev Hilary Claypool officiating.
Pallbearers were Damon Brown, David Jenkins, Joe Peavler, Ronnie Baker, Adam White and Blair Pittman. Honorary bearers were Barry Peavler, Lowell Peavler, Sammie Russell, Carlton Shewmaker, Billy Yankey, Verlin Burns and Ernest Bottom.
KATHERINE ROBINSON
Katherine Robinson, 76, of 400 Brock Lane, died Monday, October 21, 2002 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born August 8, 1926 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Ermin and Lou Vada Pittman Jones. She was the widow of O. H. Young and Cleo Robinson.
She was a retired nurses aide and farmer.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda Y. Tope, Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Teri Lynn Goodlett, Harrodsburg; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Morgan and Makenna Goodlett. She was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Lee Young, and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. John David Lane officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Graham, Tony Price, Bill Gammon, Larry Baker, Jeff Currens and Tom Hardin. Honorary bearers were Bill Robinson, Richard Briscoe, Norman and Earl McRay, L. B. Combs and Wayne Westerfield.
GLENN WARNER
Glenn D Warner, 79, of Liberty, Texas, died Monday, October 7, 2002 in Liberty.
Born May 26, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Willie and Ada Robinson Warner.
He was a former superintendent for the Repp and Munn construction firm in Columbus, IN for many years.
He was a World War II army veteran, having served in Europe.
Survivors include: his wife, Lavena Devine Warner, Liberty, TX; three sons, Glenn Wayne Warner, Dayton, TX, Ronald Lee Warner, Columbus, IN; Michael Lynn Warner, OK; one sister, Arnetta Fallis, Harrodsburg; one niece, Ann F. Evans, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James W. Warner.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 9, in Liberty, TX.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted military rites for Charles “Coffee” Hurst at Spring Hill Cemetery on October 22, 2002.
Those attending were Preston Burgin, Joe Harlow, Curtis Sherrow, J. L. Devine, Kyle Pankey, Tommy Denny, Lucian Landers, James Tewmey, Tom Rappleye and Howard Howells.
Larry Woolums served as bugler. Representatives of the U. S. Army were Sgt. Jon C. Ashley and SPC Thomas L. Benton.
AGNES ADKINSON
Agnes Warner Adkinson, 82, of Fort Myers, FL, died Saturday, October 26, 2002.
Born October 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Lula Nichols Warner and T. V. Warner.
She was a graduate of Rose Hill High School and a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include: her husband, James LeRoy Adkinson; two daughters, Mary Jo (Sam) Cote, Edina, MN and Linda Lee (Bob) Wiemouth, Terre Haute, IN; two sisters, Annelle Claunch, Harrodsburg and Virginia (Clyde) Baker, Lexington; one brother, Stuart (Frances) Warner, Rose Hill; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Ball and Elizabeth Davis, and three brothers, Everett, Joe and Brite Warner.
Funeral arrangements were in Florida. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
FRANCIS ALEXANDER
Francis W. Alexander, 72, North Greenville Street, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Lexington.
Born August 18, 1929 in Danville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Frances Wingate Alexander.
He had served in an artillery unit of the U. S. Army in Korea and was a disabled veteran.
He was an Episcopalian, enjoyed old westerns and was an avid baseball and basketball fan.
Survivors include his lifetime friend, Garnet Finley of Nicholasville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating.
There will be no visitation.

SALLIE BOGGESS
Sallie Huffman Elliott Boggess, 92, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, October 27,2002 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born March 23, 1910 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Buck and Betty Curtsinger Huffman. She was the widow of Lewis Julian Boggess.
She was a retired employee of Universal Fasteners and a former employee of Dean and Shirk Thread Factory in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of Glensboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one stepson, Paul Boggess, Frankfort; two nephews, J. B. (Helen) Sparrow, Harrodsburg, and Cecil (Pauline) Thurman, Salvisa; one niece, Elizabeth Sparrow Murphy, Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie Burgin and Myrtle Sparrow, and one brother, Arce Huffman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 30, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Rick Snyder officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John A. Sparrow, Bruce Sparrow, Rick Sparrow, Chris Sparrow, Matthew Sparrow and Josh Butler.
HALLIE BURRUS
Hallie Mae Jones Burrus, 102, Harrodsburg Health Care Center, formerly of 522 North Greenville Street, died Friday, October 25, 2002 at the health care center.
Born November 25, 1899 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lant Jones and Emmy VanDyke Jones and the widow of Raymond Mark Burrus.
She was a housewife, an active member of the Senior Citizens and a member of the Dividing Ridge Baptist Church in Mayo.
Survivors include: two sons, Davis Burrus, Mayo, and Jimmie Burrus, Jessamine County; three daughters, Opal Sigar, Elizabeth Burrus, and Alma Meaux, all of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 29, at the Dividing Ridge Baptist Church, Mayo, with Bro. Boris Carter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Meaux, Wayne Meaux, Raymond Patton, Kendall Patton, George Crumes and Randy Sigar.

WILLIAM KINDER
William Henry “Dutch” Kinder, 87, of Frankfort, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, October 28, 2002 at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Frankfort.
Born August 31, 1915 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Thomas Eli and Maudie Harley Kinder. He was the widower of Matrie Kinder.
He was a retired Lawrenceburg Transfer Company mechanic and farmer. He was a protestant and enjoyed playing the fiddle and harmonica.
Survivors include: three step-sons, Velmer Godbey, Lawrenceburg, Delmer Godbey, Frankfort, and Floyd Godbey, Harrodsburg; one step-daughter, Flonnie Byrd, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Walter Kinder, Versailles, and J. S. “Bugg” Kinder, Harrodsburg; five sisters, Ann Doyle, FL, Elizabeth Tatum, MO, Jewel “Judy” Satterly, Louisville, and Vera Conner and Nellie Turner, both of Harrodsburg; several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles “Ike” Kinder, Thomas Kinder, Hollie Kinder, Roy Kinder, James Kinder, and two sisters, Catherine Smith and Georgia Kinder.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Thursday, October 31, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Floying Thompson and Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Vince Kinder, Troy Thompson, Brent Satterly, Walter Howard Kinder, Tony Beasley, Johnny Caldwell, Joe Byrd, Jerry Byrd, Johnathan Kinder and Terry Godbey.
Visitation from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 am. Thursday at the funeral home.
