LENA HARMON

Lena Arnold Harmon, 91, of 455 Chestnut St., died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born January 7, 1911 in Salvisa, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Margaret Moore Jones. She was the widow of Cardwell Arnold and Raymond (Cub) Harmon.

She was a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, Mercer County Senior Citizens, Widow to Widow and was a Kentucky Colonel.

She worked for the Concordia Sentinel News in Ferriday, LA for 35 years and also for the Harrodsburg Herald for several years.

Survivors include four stepsons, Herbert Arnold and Cardwell Arnold Jr., both of Natchez, MI, Edward Arnold, West Monroe, LA, and Dr. Roger Arnold, Shreveport, LA; one sister-in-law, Frances Jones, Natchez, LA.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ashford, Don Horn, Mickey Gilliland, Harold Logue, Steve Fox and Chad Horn.

Visitation will be at the Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and until the hour of services on Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church or the Mercer County Senior Citizens.

GEORGIA HINER

Georgia Linney Hiner, 89, of 878 Warwick Road, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born September 14, 1913 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Beatrice Linney Wright. She was the widow of Howard Marion Hiner.

She was a retired seamstress for Palm Beach Company and a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Worley, Harrodsburg; one brother, Robert Russell Wright, Lebanon, OH; one sister, Eloise Beatrice Allender, Loveland, OH; two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 30, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Russell Wright, Brent Wright, Randy Ogden, Jonathan Dinsmore, Dave Dinsmore, Mike Collini, Johnny Wright and Tony Phillips.

HADGIE LEWIS

Hadgie Lewis, 66, of Ashley Camp Road, Burgin, died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born November 7,1936 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Henry and Mary Belle Yocum Henry.

She was a homemaker and a member of Harrodsburg Church of God.

Survivors include: her husband, Morgan Lewis, Harrodsburg; three sons, Jerry Lewis, Dean (Michelle) Lewis and Roger Lewis, all of Harrodsburg; four brothers, Tommy (Mary) Henry, Lancaster, and Joe (Janet) Henry, Lancaster; Michael (Joan) Henry and Floyd (Carol) Henry, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Judy Ballard, of McKinney, and Louise (George) Hayes, Owensboro; three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Orville Henry, and one son, Ronnie Lewis.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 30, at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Bro. Floyd Henry officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Stinnett, Jeff Henry, Tony Henry, Kenneth Absher, Larry Stinnett, Robbie Henry and Rusty Stinnett.

ROBERT RUSSELL

Robert Carroll “R. C.” Russell, died December 25, 2002 in Richmond, VA.

Born November 30, 1940 he was the son of Ethel Russell and the late Woodrow Russell.

He was a 1958 graduate of Mercer County High School and was an employee of Corning Glass.

He completed four years in the U. S. Air Force and retired in 2001 after 30 years with Rayetheon Company.

Survivors include, his wife, Diann Russell, two stepsons, Billy and Jeff Roberts and two sisters, Norma Jean (Sherman) Trayner, Harrodsburg, and Janice (Joe) Mefford of Frankfort.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, in Richmond, VA at the Discovery Methodist Church.

Donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.

HILDEGARD WRIGHT

Hildegard Mathilde Wright, 86, of Madison, AL, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Friday, December 27, 2002 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, AL.

Born June 23, 1916 in Nuremburg, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johannes and Emma Mathilde Fischer. She was the widow of Roy Johnson Wright.

She was a former employee of the Singer Company in Germany, loved to cook and sew and was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Roy Stephen Wright, Madison, AL.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 31, at the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

RONNIE BYRD
Ronnie Eugene Byrd, 52, Douglas Lane, Junction City, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday, December 30, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born March 24, 1950 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Della Mae Bernard Byrd, Harrodsburg, and the late Roscoe Byrd.

He was a former mechanic with Hayslett’s Mechanical Contractors, a member of Refreshing Ministries, enjoyed fishing, yard sales and mechanical work.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Rita Teater Byrd, Junction City; three daughters, Jennifer “Jinsane” (Harden “Sparky”) Green, and Angela Gayle Byrd, both of Junction City, and Sarah Angelana (William “Buck”) Baker, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Elwood and Clarence Byrd, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Sara Elizabeth “Libby” Abner, Harrodsburg, Billie Sue Luttrel, FL, and Anna Oster, Danville; one grandchild, Amber Gayle Conner, Junction City. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Byrd.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 2, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Cleo Cox officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harden Green, William Baker, Ralph Steven Byrd, Clarence Byrd, Elwood Byrd, and Jennifer Green. Honorary bearers were William Baker an Amber Gayle Conner.

FERN CAMIC
Fern Marie Camic, 86, of Scenic Hills, died Monday, January 6, 2003 at her residence.

Born October 12, 1916 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh C. and Leona Ruth Poulter Murphy. She was the widow of Speed Camic.

She had worked as a seamstress, cook and nurses aide. She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Survivors include: three sons, Earl Floyd Camic, Larry Stephen Camic and George Camic, all of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Patricia Hayden and Marie Hahn, Harrodsburg, and Betty Richmond, Fort Myers, FL; one brother, Hank Murphy, Hamilton County, OH; one sister, Helen Sims, Frankfort; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Camic, and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 8, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church with Dr. Robert DeFoor, Jack Geurin and Barry Proctor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Proctor, Barry Proctor, Mark Proctor, Dwayne Hahn, Darrell Hahn, Bobby Richmond, Cory Camic and Gage Camic. Honorary bearers were Sherri Hicks, Ann Marie Driskell, Betty Jean Richmond, Sara Camic, Crystal Trower, Amy Devine, Abi Camic, Hanna Camic, Morgan Camic and Chancey Camic.

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or the Harrodsburg Baptist Church “Life Center.”

MARVIN CHRISTERSON

Marvin Wallace Christerson, 91, South College Street, died Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born August 10, 1911 in Washington County, he was the son of the late George H. and Nannie Best Christerson. He was the widower of Ethelyn Campbell Christerson.

He was a retired U. S. Mail Contractor, having worked for 40 years and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and earning a Purple Heart with two Oak Clusters, the Bronze Star, Four Battle Stars and other numerous citations.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #52, the Disabled American Veterans and had served for 20 years on the Selective Service Board in Mercer County.

He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a Harrodsburg City Commissioner from 1951 to 1955.

He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and usher.

He enjoyed working outside and especially with flowers, having won several ribbons during the Mercer County Fair.

Survivors include: one son, Kenneth Eugene Christerson, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Clona C. Curry, four brothers, Garnett, Leo, Will and Richard Christerson, and two sisters, Margie Coyle and Hazel Webb.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 5, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial with military honors was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jackie Springate, Carlos Lester, Orban Mayes, Marvin Claunch, Loyd Bradley and Calvin Wiley. Honorary bearers were Edwin Elliott, Armond Bottoms, Kenneth Burns, Marvin Robinson and Robert Royalty.

MORRISON KEELING

Morrison Keeling, Louisville, 81, formerly of Springfield and Mackville, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at his residence.

Born November 22, 1921 in Nelson County, he was a son of the late Ruel and Jewell Shewmaker Keeling.

Survivors include; his wife, Aileen Keeling, Louisville; one daughter, Sherrian Lee Edlin, Louisville; one brother, Leon Keeling, Harrodsburg; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Keeling.

Funeral services were held at the Houghlin Funeral Home, Bloomfield, and burial was in the High View Cemetery at Chaplin.

LEON McCROSKY

Leon S. McCrosky, 85, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

Born in Burgin, December 27, 1917, he was the son of the late Stanley and Ida Bennett McCrosky.

He was a graduate of Burgin High School and the University of Kentucky.

Survivors include: his wife, Rebecca McCrosky, Fort Thomas; two sons, Elliott McCrosky, Newport Beach, CA and John McCrosky, Brea, CA; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, KY 41075.

Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

JAMES ROWLAND

James Michael “Earl” Rowland, 21, of 501 High St., Danville, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

He was the son of Dennis Lister of Burgin and Vicki Rowland, Danville.

He was employed by CDR of Harrodsburg.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: one daughter, Haley Rowland and one son, Devon Michael Rowland, both of Danville.; two brothers, Jeremy Rowland and Adam Lister, both of Burgin; one sister, Renita Rowland, Danville; maternal grandmother, Liz Rowland, also of Danville.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 8, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Buddy Turpin and Rev John Rowland officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Rowland Jr., Brad Baker, Chris Johnson, Michael Yates, Bobby Carpenter, Jeff Baker, Chad Whitis and Ricky Baker. Honorary bearers were Adam Lister and Jeremy Rowland.
