Ruby Katherine Watts, 70, St. Charles Street, Frankfort, formerly of Mercer County, died Saturday, January 4, 2003 at her residence.
Born March 9, 1932 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Ethel Riley Sanders. She was the widow of Fred Joseph (Joe) Watts.
She was a retired employee of Fitzgerald Drug Store, Frankfort, where she had worked for 38 years.
She was a member of the Bellevue Christian Church in Frankfort.
Survivors include: two sons, Fred J. (Buster) Watts and Mark A. Watts, both of Frankfort; one sister, Mrs. Frances Gaines, Lexington; two granddaughters, Carolyn Renee Watts and Jennifer Amber Watts, both of Shelbyville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 7, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial was in the Kirkwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Watts, Lawrence Watts, Jim Peyton, Jeff Randolph, Aaron Gaines, and Derrick Peyton. Honorary bearers were Phillip Spanger, Sheila Stilner, Tom Fitzergald and Kenny Rutledge.
GEORGE WEAREN
George D. Wearen, 85, of East Poplar Street, died Friday, January 3, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 18, 1917 in Russellville, he was the son of the late William Ben and Cricket Terrill Wearen.
He was co-owner of Wearen and James Drug in Harrodsburg for 40 years and was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Survivors include: his wife, Drue Gray Wearen, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Diane (Jerry) Joyner, Richmond, and Margo (David) Carey, Dayton, OH; one grandchild, Cindi (Scott) Hazelwood, Dayton, OH; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Hazelwood, Dayton, OH.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 6, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Don Chase officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for Marvin W. Christerson at Spring Hill Cemetery on January 5, 2003.
Those attending were Tom Denny, Lucian Landers, Curtis Sherrow, Preston Burgin, Tom Rappleye, Kyle Pankey, Howard H. Howells, Joe Harlow and Marion Mershon.
Zenah Teater III served as bugler.
U. S. Army representatives were Martin P. Baynes, CW3 and Jeff J. Braunhausen, CW2.
AILEEN BARKMAN
Aileen H. Barkman, 82, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born November 12, 1920 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Vera Woods Hawkins. She was the widow of Charles Barkman.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Cudahy for several years and was also a tax preparer. She was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Gary (Amy) Barkman, Danville; two grandchildren, Corrie Barkman and Charlene Satori.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Allen officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl VanArsdall, Charles Mangione, John Phillip Mangione, David Barkman, Eric Barkman and Brian Marlowe.

MARTHA CUMMINS
Martha A. Cummins, 91, formerly of Perryville Street, died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 14, 1911 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late J. L. and Lettie Russell Powell. She was the widow of Milt Cummins.
She was a homemaker, a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include: one son, Billy (Betty) Cummins, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Inez (Ezra) Tatum Jr. and Mrs. Jane Coulter, both of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Henry Esker Tatum, Twana Patrick, Jeff Coulter and Jennifer Hume; one great-grandson, Lane Hume. She was preceded in death by one son, Henry Cummins, and her sister, Betty D. Bugg.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 12, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Click and Bro. Bobby Logue officiating. Burial was in Deep Creek Baptist Cemetery.

VIOLET DAILEY
Violet Dailey, 77, of Pheasant Drive, died Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 13, 1925 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Addie Smock Carey.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Carl Dailey Jr., Harrodsburg; two sons, Ronnie (Leniece) Dailey, and Terry (Brenda) Dailey, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Sharlene (Darrell) Young, Harrodsburg; one brother, Curtis Carey, Louisville; one sister, Carolyn Sheene, Danville; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Joyce Hall and a granddaughter, Kendra Young.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Steve Ramsey and Mark Bauldoff officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

CATHERINE DRURY
Catherine M. Drury, 92, of May Street, Charlevoix, MI, died Thursday, January 9, 2003 in Michigan.
Born August 30, 1910 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Nancy Bailey Randolph. She was the widow of Wallace Drury.
She was a retired seamstress at Sportleigh Hall, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in DeKalb, IL and loved being involved in politics.
Survivors include: one son, Condit Drury; one daughter, Jeanne Dubey, both of Charlevoix, MI; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Drury, two brothers, one step-brother, two sisters and three step-sisters.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 12, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Drury, Dan Drury, Gary Drury, Tom Barnes, Tom Black and Bryan Liotta.

OLIVE MARTIN
Olive Seddon Martin, 93, of Bedford, VA, formerly of Mercer County, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Oakwood Manor.
Born November 13, 1909 in Lancashire, England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Square Seddon and Mary Rothwell Seddon. She was the widow of Cecil Elmore Martin.
She attended Morgans Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
Survivors include: one daughter, Cecelia M. (Delano) Bowman, Bedford, VA; and two grandsons, James L (Judy) Bowman, Huddleston, VA, and Danny P. Bowman, Bedford, VA.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 10, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, 320 N. Bridge St., Bedford, VA, with Rev. Rick Mallory officiating. Burial was in Virginia Memorial Park.
ANNA McGUIRE
Anna Wilson McGuire, 53, of Evansville, IN died Friday, January 10, 2003 at her home in Evansville.
Born April 28,1949 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Viola Horn McGuire.
She worked as a registered nurse for St. Joseph Hospital and the American Red Cross.
Survivors include: one son, Brian W. McGuire, Wilmore; and one grandchild, Madeline Marie McGuire.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 13, at Spring Hill Cemetery with James Harley officiating.
Memorials are suggested to The Salvation Army.
VIVIAN PEAVLER
Vivian Pankey Peavler, 87, of 3540 Mackville Road, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 1, 1915 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ella Peavler Pankey. She was the widow of Leroy Peavler.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
Survivors include: five sons, Dane (Peggy) Peavler, and Glenn (Margaret Sue) Peavler, both of Lexington, J. D. (Jean) Peavler, Georgetown; Connie Peavler, Stanford, and Tommy (Linda) Peavler, Harrodsburg; four daughters, Wanda (Ernie) Richardson, Nicholasville, Judy (Clinton) Wilson, Lancaster, Ruby (Roger) Dean, Mt. Washington, and Marlene (Richard) Hunt, Winchester; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 15, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Arnold Moon officiating. Burial was in the Bruner’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Robin Peavler, Doug Peavler, Rick Peavler, Jerry Peavler, David Peavler, Troy Peavler, Eric Peavler, Paxton Wilson and Greg Dean. Honorary bearers will be deacons of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.

HELEN RADZVILA
Helen Coates Odell Radzvila, 86, of West Main Street, Burgin, died Sunday, January 12, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born October 12, 1916 in Columbus, GA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Nancy Ann Yawn Coates. She was the widow of Frank A. Radzvila.
She was a waitress and dietician and had worked for Lincoln Electric in Pensacola, FL.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. John (Linda Kay Nunes) Heckman of Burgin; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 15, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, TX 77023.
