Almedia West Perkins Hockensmith, 96, of Harrodsburg Health Care, formerly of Frankfort, died Friday, January 24, 2003.
A native of Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl Humphrey West and the widow of Larry B. Hockensmith.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Frankfort First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Elmo Perkins, Frankfort, and Raymond Perkins, Georgetown; three daughters, Betty Hinkle, Harrodsburg, Marie McPherron, Frankfort, and Rosena Perry, Louisville; one brother, Roger West, Georgetown; one sister, Dorothy West Collins, Stamping Ground; 15 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 28, at the Harrod Bros. Memorial Chapel in Frankfort with Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rhonda Hinkle officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

JOHN B. HUFFMAN
John B. Huffman, 70, of 1001 Burgin Road, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Memorial Herman Hospital Medical Center, Houston, TX.
Born August 6, 1932 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Mansford Ben and Ophia Peavler Huffman.
He was retired from Western Kentucky Gas and an employee of Mercer Stone. He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
He was a life member of the American Legion, a former member of the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club, and both the Bluegrass and Mercer County Home Builders Association.
He had served on the Mercer County School Board and was active in Mercer County Little League football and baseball for a number of years.
He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Cordelia Yeager Huffman, Harrodsburg; two sons, Michael W. (Denise) Huffman, Bowling Green, and Robert B. Huffman, Columbus; two daughters, Susan Lynn (Jeff) Coy, and Sandy (Greg) Winburn, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Margie Barnett, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Matt Huffman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor and Rick Snyder officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the chapel after 4:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Thomas, Phil Crump, L. D. Nickles, Eddie Russell, Carlos Lester, Wesley Phillips, Don Ross and Jimmy Browning. Honorary bearers will be Eddie Drury, Art Wilson, Cletis Yeager, James Yeager, Bill Freeman and Tom Rappley.
Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church Life Center.
REBEKAH McCROSKY
Rebekah Ford McCrosky, 76, of Fort Thomas, died Friday, January 24, 2003 at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center in Highland Heights.
Born in Garrard County, June 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Louis Chester and Gladys Hamilton Ford.
She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at Highlands Junior High School and Indian Hill Junior High School.
Survivors include two step sons, four step grandchildren and a number of relatives in Mercer County, including Peggy Waggener of Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon McCrosky, formerly of Burgin.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

VERLIE TEATER
Verlie Mae Teater, 73, of Evergreen Avenue, Douglas, GA, died Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1929 in Talmage, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jackson Monroe and Verlie Mae Peach Monroe. She was the widow of Stanley Paris Teater.
She was a member of the Southview Church of God.
Survivors include: four sons, Davis C. Sims, Gallatin, TN, Roger Dale Sims, Middleburg, FL, Jackie B. Sims, Green Cove Springs, FL, and William Thomas Sims, Douglas, GA; two; daughters, Sophie Jean Goodlett, Harrodsburg, and Anne Rose Croft, Douglas, GA; one brother, James Thomas Monroe, Shelbyville; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Alga Von Sims.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 13, at Southview Church of God, with Rev. Hilton Martin officiating. Burial was in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Fisher, Jerome Fisher, Sam Littleton, Johnny Holland, Robert Pritchard and Brent Minix.

LURLEEN WILEY
Lurleen Wiley, 75, of Bonta Drive, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at her residence.
Born March 30, 1927 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the later Forrest Brooks and Eliza Flynn Morris.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Calvin Wiley Jr., Harrodsburg; one son, Calvin Wiley III, Harrodsburg; and one sister, Kathleen Fowler, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam W., Hudson and Brooks Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Chase officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sam Morris, Bill Morris, Glen “Rusty” Ray, Jon Cox, Jim Duncan, Hal Morris and John H. Wiley. Honorary bearers will be members of the Goodwill Sunday School Class of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

ANNA WORTHINGTON
Anna Mae Worthington, 72, of Parksville, died Friday, January 24, 2003 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born December 20, 1930 in Mayberry, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Hettie Cook Jupin.
She was a homemaker and member of Chestnut Grove Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her husband, Irvin Worthington, Sr., Parksville; two sons, Irvin “Junior” Worthington and Gary Wayne Worthington, both of Parksville; one brother, Johnny Jupin, Abilene, TX; one sister, Helen Blevins, Danville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a number of relatives in Mercer County.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 27, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, with Bro. Thad Eubank, Bro. Arnold Larkin, Bro. Jim Thompson, Bro. J. D. McDonald and Bro. Gerald Carter officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.

MANFORD CRAWLEY
Manford “Doc” Crawley, 85, Salvisa, died Sunday, February 2, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born in Athens, he was a son of the late Brent and Emma Crawley. He was the widower of Ollie Crawley.
He was a retired night watchman for Kings Ranch.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Winston) Crawley, Harrodsburg, and Royce Crawley, Lexington; one brother, Alvin Crawley; four sisters, Nancy Prather, Isabelle Moore, Mary E. Neal and Brenda Smith; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, J. D. Crawley, and a sister, Legatha Monroe.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Main Street, Lexington, with Rev. Don Frye officiating. Burial was in Athens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Crawley, Scott Crawley, Lane Crawley, John Crawley, Jonathan Edwards and David Watts. Honorary bearers were Bill Watts and Doug Crawley.
ANSEL DRURY
Ansel Estes Drury, 92, of 1327 Bohon Road, died Monday, February 3, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 8, 1910 in Washington County, he was the son of the late William F. and Lizzie Pulliam Drury. He was the widower of Julia Crouch Drury.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bohon Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Drury and David E. (Sharry) Drury, both of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter, Carl, Willie, Cecil and Robert Drury, two sisters, Stella and Ada Mae Drury, and one step grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Leonard Price and Danny Sallee officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the chapel after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Drury, Derrick Drury, Carroll Drury, Julie D. Gooch, Kelly D. McGinnis and Dana D. Bottom. THELMA FRANKLIN
Thelma L. Murphy Franklin, 74, of Bowen Road, Stanford, died Monday, January 20, 2003 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born June 17, 1928, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late James and Jenny Davis Murphy.
She was a machinist, retired from Signet Company.
Survivors include: her husband, William F. Franklin, Stanford; two sons, James W. Franklin, Danville, and Tony Franklin, Stanford; three daughters, Elizabeth Jane Cochran and Diane F. Rogers, both of Junction City, and Barbara S. Neice, Lexington; two sisters, Hazel Bugg, Harrodsburg, and Gladys Leonard, Salem, IN; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 22, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, with Rev. Roy Franklin. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville.
