Nellie Harlow, 91, of Dixie Manor, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 17, 1911 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Moland and Annie Sims Derr and was the widow of Evan Harlow.
She was a former seamstress for Sportleigh Hall and had worked for the Harrodsburg schools cafeteria.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class.
Survivors include: one son, Joe Harlow; two daughters, Phyllis Brown and Evelyn Morris, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Juanita Burns, Mercer County; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Derr, Jerry Burns, Randy Burns, Bobby Thompson, Adrian Thompson and Rodney Thompson. Honorary bearers will be members of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church Maintenance Fund.
SARA HENSLEY
Sara Tingle Hensley, 90, of Versailles, died Friday, February 28, at Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles.
Born in Oldham County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Innis and Stella Rudd Tingle.
She was a retired bookkeeper for WVLK radio and former treasurer and tax administrator for the City of Versailles.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church and a Ladies Auxiliary member and volunteer at Woodford Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jean (Buddy) Christian, Mercer County; one son, Samuel Owen (Linda) Hensley, Lexington; a special friend, Howard Montague, Versailles; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Bauer and Doris Kreinrot, and one brother, Harry I. Tingle II, a granddaughter, Sara Kathryn Christian, and one grandson, Bradford Allen Hensley.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 3, at the Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. Morris Trayner officiating. Burial was in the Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles.

RUBY MULLINS
Ruby Mullins, 81, of 1773 Bellows Mill Road, died Sunday March 2, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born October 27, 1921 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Sallee Lyons and was the widow of Steve Mullins.
She was a retired seamstress, having worked for Sportleigh Hall and Cricketeer for 41 years, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Faulkner Lane, Danville.
Survivors include: two sons, Jack Mullins, Inverness, FL and Jerry Mullins, Palmetto, FL; one daughter, Loretta Robins, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Harold Best officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Garden, Burgin.
Pallbearers were Shawn Robins, Brandon Robins, Mitch Mullins, Tom Guthrie, Kenny Harper and Harold Davis.
Memorials are suggested to an American veteran organization.
RUTH TURNER
Ruth Sadler Turner, 80, of Cincinnati, OH, widow of Oliver Turner, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003.
Formerly of Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Mattie and James Sadler.
Survivors include four sons, Bob, Jim and Richard Turner, all of Cincinnati, OH, and Jerry Turner, Seattle, WA; two brothers, Robert (Loretta) Sadler, Harrodsburg, and George (Elizabeth) Sadler, Louisville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at Ditt Sterner Funeral Chapel, Cincinnati.
SAM BANKS Sr.
Sam Banks Sr., 96, of 212 Cleveland Street, Hot Springs, AR, formerly of Burgin, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at his residence.
Born March 23, 1906 in Burgin, he was the son of the late Levi Penix and Cyntha Banks Faulkner.
He was a former groom at Oak Lawn Race Track and was a member of Cottrell Chapel CME Church in Hot Springs, AR.
Survivors include: four daughters, Mary (James) Patton, Harrodsburg, Sue (Clarence) Gooch, Stanford, Maxine (James) Flournoy, Louisville, and Marie (James) Woodford, Hot Springs, AR; one son, Sam Banks Jr., Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Bell Cowan, Louisville; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, at Little Zion Baptist Church, Burgin, with Rev. Philip Yates officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were Tony Gooch, Corey Gooch, Terry Woodford, James Woodford Jr., James Flournoy Jr. and Sam Banks III.

AVA ELLIOTT
Ava Jewell Elliott, 91, of East Office Street, died Sunday, March 9, 2003 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born September 5, 1911 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Flora Bruner Bottom. She was the widow of Lee Elliott.
She was a retired seamstress for Cricketeer and a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Bill (Joyce) Elliott, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Patsy June Elliott, FL; two sisters, Ressie Bailey, Harrodsburg and Vernetta Hall, Lexington; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lee Elliott, and a sister, Nellie Lester.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Elliott, Bobby Lee Elliott, John D. Elliott, Bobby Elliott III, Patrick Elliott and John-John Elliott.

NANCY JOHNSON
Nancy White Johnson, 54, of Yates Road, Junction City, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 26, 1948 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ada Wilcher White.
She was a homemaker and a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Johnson, Junction City; one daughter, Cathy Johnson, Junction City; one son, Jimmy DeWayne Johnson, Junction City; two brothers, Joe White and Cash White, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Anna White, Dorothy Bugg and Ida King, all of Danville; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Dale Denton officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cathy Johnson, Jimmy DeWayne Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Blaine Anness, Yvette Carson and Debbie Montgomery. Honorary bearers were Nancy Johnson, Donnie and Jean Shearer, Lorine Campbell and Ray Cochran.
CLIFFORD LAMBERT
Clifford Lambert, 83, of Lambert Lane, died Monday, March 10, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital
Born July 19, 1919 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ive and Mattie Pearson Lambert.
He served in the US Army during WWII, was retired from Stringtown Body Shop at Stringtown Garage where he was an owner, a member of Grapevine Christian Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary L. (Dolly) Robinson Lambert; one sister, Opal Rogers, Burgin. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Claude Waldrige officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor, Don Taylor, Marion Rogers Jr., Gordon Rondeau, Owen Lambert and Jack Pearson. Honorary bearers will be Billy Steele, Jimmy Pinkston, Marion Wilson, Kit Waddle, Marty Hall, Randy Shewmaker, Gary Royalty, Donnie Mowry and Raymond Royalty.
Visitation from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
RUBY LAMAR
Ruby Miller Lamar, 86, Lexington, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Hospice Care Center.
Born in Meade County, she was a daughter of the late James Riley Miller and Nora Pearl Dowell Miller. She was the widow of Dr. Carl F. Lamar.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in the Calvary Baptist WMU, the Bethany Bible Class and the Senior Adult Choir. She was also a member of the UK Women’s Club and the Hoe ‘N’ Hope Garden Club.
Survivors include; one daughter, Carla (Steve) Lamar, Nicholasville; one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Lamar, Harrodsburg; one sister, Sue McCartney, Palm Springs, CA; one brother, Bill Miller, Dry Prong, LA; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Carl Lamar and Don Miller Lamar.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 10, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, with Rev. Bill Simmons and Rev. Johnie Dean officiating. Graveside committal services were in the Cap Anderson Cemetery, Brandenburg.
Honorary pallbearers were the Senior Adult choir at Calvary Baptist Church.

LETHA PROCTOR
Letha Mae Hoover Proctor, 69, of Mooreland Avenue, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at her residence.
Born August 31, 1933 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Bessie Catron Denny. She was the widow of Allen Proctor.
She retired as the manager of Stone Manor Motel and enjoyed sewing, quilting and soap operas.
She was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Ronnie Hoover, Harrodsburg; Jeffrey Hoover, Lexington and Marty Hoover, Nicholasville; two daughters, Janet Peel and Donna Kirkpatrick, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Edna Bertram and Evelyn Dalton, both of Wayne county. 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Denny.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the Marvin Hicks Funeral Home, Monticello, with Pastor Dan Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Edwards Chapel Cemetery, Wayne County.
Pallbearers will be Gary Dalton, Mike Dalton, Randall Dolen, Jackie Denny, Richard Kirkpatrick, Kevin Peel, Chris Hoover and Dustin Hoover.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg, and after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Marvin Hicks Funeral Home in Monticello.
