Mary John Kelly “Johnnye” Tapp, 77, of Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg and Springfield, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at her residence.
A native of Springfield, she was the daughter of the late John W. Kelly and Sara Simms Kelly.
She was active in the restoration of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and served on the board of directors of Fort Harrod Drama Productions.
She was a graduate of St. Catharine’s academy in Springfield, and was a partner, with her husband, in a clothing store in Harrodsburg.
She was a member of St. Frances of Rome Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Sterling T. Tapp, Louisville; one daughter, Anne-Berry T. (Thomas) O’Brien; two sons, S. Parker (Susan) Tapp and Finely M. (Chris) Tapp; one sister, Mrs. Harold E. Huber Jr., Louisville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, at Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may go to either St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
MARY VANDIVER
Mary Rose Sanders Vandiver, 73, Jeffersonville, IN, died Monday, April 7, 2003.
Born February 21, 1930 in Louisville, she was the daughter of Theresa Sanders, and the late Hugh Sanders, formerly of Mercer County.
She was a 1948 graduate of Mercy High School, Louisville, and previously employed with Brown-Forman. She was a devoted University of Kentucky fan.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: two sons, William (Alice Williams) Vandiver, Louisville, and Stephen (Amanda) Vandiver, Shepherdsville; one daughter, DeAnn Vandiver, Jeffersonville, IN; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Iwan.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Ratterman and Son Family Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Visitation from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.

MARY WALTON
Mary Lou Walton, 40, of Thrush Drive, Hopkinsville, died April 7, 2003.
Born August 17, 1962 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Juanita Lantham Cooley of Hopkinsville and the late John Dickerson.
She was a registered nurse at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville for the past 18 years.
Survivors include: five sisters, Deborah Jo Salters, Devonna Sue Hutson, Anna Claraleen Mann and Ronda Lyn Cooley, all of Hopkinsville, and Amanda Dawn Cooley, Toledo, OH; four brothers, Carl Lloyd Dickerson, Georgetown, Johnny Darrell Dickerson, Harrodsburg, Charles Adrian Dickerson, Paris and Randall Glen Cooley Jr., San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cobb Hill Cemetery, Cobb Hill, KY.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Thursday, April 10, at Lamb Funeral Home, 3911 Lafayette Road, Hopkinsville, and from 4:00 to 8:00 Friday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg.
JAMES ADAMS
James “Grizzly” Adams, 44, of Gainsboro, TN died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at his residence.
A native of Mercer County, he was the son of the late Isaac and Lucille Clarkson Adams.
He was a sawyer for the Clark Lumber Company in Willette, with six years of service.
Survivors include: his wife, Vickey Crowder Adams, Gainesboro, TN; one daughter, Leticia Adams, Gainsboro, TN; three sons, Kenny Webb, Tomkinsville, James Larry Adams Jr. and Benjamin Adams, both of Gainsboro; three sisters, Helen Wells, Harrodsburg, Ruth Webb, Tompkinsville, and Gladys Rearden, Albany; three brothers, Joe and Earl Adams, both of Harrodsburg, and Robert Adams of Tompkinsville.
Graveside services were conducted Monday, April 14, at the Bethany Cemetery with Jack Honeycutt officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Arrangements were by the Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Home, Red Boiling Springs, TN.
GLADYS ALEXANDER
Gladys Lucille Davenport Alexander, 90, of 448 Chestnut Street, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 31, 1912 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Frances Elizabeth Hifner Davenport. She was the widow of James Menefee Alexander.
She was a homemaker and horticulturist, a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church for many years and the Women’s Morning Circle.
She was also a charter band booster and a Cub Scout den mother.
Survivors include: two sons, Andrew (Patricia S.) Buchanan Alexander, and Dr. James (Mary H.) Givens Alexander, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter-in-law, Sue Alexander, Lexington; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James M. Alexander Jr. and John Smith Alexander, and one brother, James Clay Davenport.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Joe Tarry Jr. officiating.

JERRY DEVINE
Jerry Lynn Devine, 58, of 250 Palomino Drive, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at his residence.
Born August 1, 1944 in Washington County, he was the son of the late William Devine McKinley and Louise Litteral.
He was a farmer for Shakertown of Pleasant Hill.
Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Sue Devine, Harrodsburg; one son, Brad Devine, Lexington; one daughter, Tonia (Glen) Curtsinger, Washington County; three brothers, W. T. (Judy) Devine, Danville, Harold Devine, Springfield, and Billy G. Devine, Harrodsburg; three sisters, Linda (Buford) Lake, Washington County, Marion (Ronnie) Million and Margaret Bugg, both of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, Paige and Chaz Curtsinger; a special niece who lived in the home for a number of years, Bethany L. Litteral, Danville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Lou Gribbins, and two brothers, Roy Devine and Robin Litteral.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Lake, Jason Lake, Mitch Lake, McKinley Lake, Dennis Curtsinger and Connie Carlton.

ELLEN GRAHAM
Ellen G. Graham, 84, of 323 Runyon Road, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born October 7, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late F. T. and Katie Adkinson Gardner. She was the widow of Elmer Graham.
She worked for the Department of Child Welfare and was one of the first Community Action directors. She retired as a teacher for Mercer County schools.
She was a graduate of Transylvania University and was instrumental in the development of West Lane Park.
She was a member of the Cornishville Christian Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon (David) Perkins, Danville, and Janet (Joe) Fishman, Bellaire, FL; two granddaughters, Kate Elizabeth Perkins and Julie Fishman; and two grandsons, David Jonathan Perkins and John Fishman.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 14 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Benningfield officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clyde Sims Jr., Hughes Coslow, Dennis Coslow, LaRue Huffman, Claude Russell, and David Jonathan Perkins. Honorary bearers were former students.
MOLLIE LAMB
Mollie Dimple Lamb, Dalray Drive, Lexington, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at her residence.
Born March 17, 1925 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Matt R. and Ida Florence Simpson Coffman. She was the widow of William Henry Lamb.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church.
She loved to cook, enjoyed canning and gardening.
Survivors include: three sons, Matt David Lamb, Hot Springs, AR, William Edsel Lamb, Lexington, and Floyd Lamb, Paris; two daughters, Betty Worth, Lexington, and Lottie Griffith, Houston, TX; one brother, Obert Coffman, Perryville; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Schafer. Burial was in the Wilson Cemetery, Casey County.
Pallbearers were Glenn Bishop, Glenn Ray, Billy Divine, Charles Collins, Raymond Brown, Brian Treadway and Brandon Barnes. Honorary bearers were Robert Kirby, Larry Moore and Johnnie Newman.
LOLA MOORE
Lola B. Sims Moore, 83, of Walnut Lane, Richmond, IN, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 in Richmond.
Born March 4, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Sims and Amner Reed. She was the widow of J. L. Moore.
She had served as the manager of the Colgate University bookstore in Hamilton, NY for 17 years.
She was active in the girl scouts and was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church, Hamilton, NY.
Survivors include: her son, Ronald (Kathy) Moore, Richmond, IN; one daughter, Ann (Richard) Wolf, Brewster, MA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Leota Lowery.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Bro. James Harley officiating.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
JAMES SUMMERS
James Thomas Summers, 66, of 504 East Walnut Street, Danville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at his residence.
Born October 9, 1936 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Maurice James Singleton and Annie Summers. He was the widower of Daisy Gladys Summers.
He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, David A. Summers, Junction City; three daughters, G. Dianne Summers, F. Darlene Sallee and Debbie K. Summers, all of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis M. Walter officiating.
