Chester Noah Woods, 82, of Lakeview, OR died at the Lake District Long Term Care Facility, Friday, April 11, 2003.
Born, April 2, 1921 in Bryantsville, he was the son of Richard and Ida Stolts Woods.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Tennessee and the USS Barnstable.
He retired from the telephone company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He served as chaplain for the VFW for 10 years, chairman of the Town Flag Committee and was a member of the hospital auxiliary.
He was a life member of the Lake County Historical Society, an honorary Town Council member and a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Tilley, Clovis, CA; one brother, Floyd Woods, Danville, two sisters, Martha Burkett, PA and Virginia Sands, OH; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several relatives in Mercer County, including a niece, Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Watts, of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15 at the Lakeview First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Chase officiating. Burial with military honors by the Lakeview VFW Post #4070 was in the Sunset Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Disaster Unit, 245 N. F St. or Lakeview Search and Rescue, 513 Center St., Lakeview, OR 97630 or a charity of one’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel, Lakeview, was in charge of arrangements.
ALBERTINE DAVENPORT
Albertine G. Davenport, 80, died Monday, May 5, 2003.
A native of Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John and Lela Chapman Grimes. She was the widow of Robert A. Davenport
She was a retiree of GTE South (Verizon) after 36 years, a former co-owner of Davenport and Sharpe Insurance Agency, and a member of Tates Creek Christian Church. She was also a member of Henry Clay Chapter #398 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include: a brother-in-law, Clyde (Doreen) Ransdell; three nieces, Pamela (David) Buchanon, Basking Ridge, NJ, Karen Crawley and Sharon Thomas, both of Lexington; one nephew, Clyde (Kate) Ransdell, Louisville.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Southland with Dr. Brad Walden and Rev. John Craycraft officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Honorary pallbearers will be A. Melvin and Gladys Hunt, Richard and Anne Layton, Joyce and Harold Moore, Robert and Roberta Woodard, Minnie McDowell, Maxine Reynolds and Kathaleen Wasson.

ELLEN DRURY
Ellen Frances Drury, 61, of 4062 Talmage-Mayo Road, died Friday, May 3, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born April 26, 1942 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cora Lamb Moore.
She was a homemaker and farmer.
Survivors include: her husband, Richard Daryl Drury, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Becky D. Jones, Frankfort; three sons, Gary Drury, Washington County, Richard and Christopher Drury, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, William Moore, Lawrenceburg, Kenneth and Robert Moore, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Ruby (Arthur) Cox, Lebanon, Anna (Lloyd) Blackwell and Barbara (Lee) Sayre, both of Lawrenceburg; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Garness, Raymond and Billy Moore, and a sister, Joyce Lewis, and one son, David Wayne Drury.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 6, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lester Tirey and Terry Cooper officiating. Burial was in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenny Allen Moore, Larry Croach, Lee Sayre, Allen Wilkins, Danny and Josh Jones, and Chris Drury. Honorary bearers were Kenneth, William and Robert Moore.
WILLIAM GRAHAM
William Lyle Graham, 75, of 1001 Beaumont Avenue, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at the Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born July 29, 1927 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Benjamine Earl and Paralee Durr Graham.
He was a retired accounting clerk for IBM and a former member of the Sunset Quartet.
He was a member of the Indian Hills Christian Church and a Sunday School teacher. He was past president of the Salt River Men’s Fellowship.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Wilma Roalene Graham, Harrodsburg; two sons, Rex Graham, Lexington, and Keith Graham, Bowling Green; two daughters, Cheryll Kimbler, Louisville, and Frieda Dollar, Durham, NC; one brother, Marshall Graham, Nicholasville; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rex Graham officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the chapel after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and prior to service on Thursday.

CORRINE HORTON
Corrine “Connie” Chapman Horton, 81, Louisville, died Monday, May 5, 2003.
A native of Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Chapman. She was the widow of Wilson Horton.
She was a retired executive secretary for Sears, Roebuck Co., a member of the Sears Retiree Club, past president of the Audubon Park Garden Club and the Louisville Council of Federated Garden Clubs, Inc.
She was a member and elder of Beechmont Presbyterian Church, a board member of the Louisville Presbyterian Furlough Home and a member of the Audubon Chapter of AARP.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carol Graf; one brother Julian Chapman, Harrodsburg; one granddaughter and six step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Angeline Chapman Meinze.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, at Emory-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Hwy., Louisville. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

CHRISTINNA HYMER
Christinna “Chrysti” R. Dunn Hymer, 24, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 as a result of an automobile accident in Las Vegas, NV.
Born April 7, 1979 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of Dawna Favors of Indianapolis and Alan (Charlotte) Dunn of Hustonville.
She was an honor student at Clark County Community College and an associate for a hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her husband, James Hymer, Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Joseph Dykstra, Indianapolis, IN, and Justin Dunn, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Stephanie Dykstra, Indianapolis, and Alana Dunn, Harrodsburg; paternal grandmother, Norma Dunn, Danville; maternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Donnie Gaines, Brownsburg, IN; paternal great-grandmother, Helen Dunn, Stanford. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Garland Dunn.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Palm Mortuary-Eastern in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held in Hustonville at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society.
HUGHIE MATTINGLY
Hughie Walter Mattingly, 82, of Harrodsburg Road, Mackville, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at his residence.
Born March 2, 1921 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Hughie C. and Evale Lewis Mattingly.
He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, a retired farmer and an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Ethel Peavler Mattingly, Mackville; one daughter, Ann (Dennis) Keeling, Crestview, FL; three sons, Donnie Mattingly, Bardstown, Billy Jo (Loraine) Mattingly, Mackville, and Gerald (Frankie) Mattingly, Willisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Frances) Baker, Mt. Washington and Pearl Dean, Springfield; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Tressie Darland, Eunice Devine and Delma Curtsinger, and five brothers, Ruel, Arthur, Eugene, Jim and Tom Mattingly.
Funeral service’s were held Saturday, May 3, at the Mackville Baptist Church with Rev. David Gifford and Rev. Paul Readnour. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Jerry Fowler, Terry Fowler, Billy Mattingly, Brandon Mattingly, Donald Mattingly and Jackie Robinson. Honorary bearers were Billy Yankey, Bill Griffith, Clifton Russell and Dr. Mohammad Shahzad.
Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, was in charge of arrangements.
RICHARD SHEPPERSON
Richard Thomas Shepperson, 58, of Harrodsburg, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born February 9, 1945 in Marion County, he was the son of Anna Mae Cooley Shepperson, Harrodsburg, and the late William T. Shepperson.
He was a retired truck driver, a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church, and a former member of the Parksville Fire Department.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Sue Shepperson, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Teresa Shepperson, Harrodsburg; three sons, Richie Shepperson, Parksville, and Neil and Eric Shepperson, both of New York; one sister, Roxanna Parks, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Lennie Shepperson, Danville, and Stanley Shepperson, Junction City; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Barry Jeffries officiating. Burial was in the Elder Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Terry, Tony Shearer, Douglas Shepperson, Johnny and Mike Cooley and Robin Burger.
ROSE ABIEL-LEWIS
Rose Dominic Abiel-Lewis, daughter of Leiner D. and Misty Lewis-Abiel of Harrodsburg, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: one brother, Benjamin E. Guerara-Lewis, Harrodsburg; paternal grandfather and grandmother Rufino Vazquez and Fidelia Tolentino, both of Oaxaca, Mexico; maternal grandfather, Chester Lewis, LaGrange; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Tom Berryman and Loretta Lewis, both of Harrodsburg, and one uncle, Mitchell Lewis, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Father Joseph Muench officiating. Burial was in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fleuri Lopes, Fernando Hernandez, Mitchell Lewis and Sean Claunch, Honorary bearers were Gillermo Gonzalez, Scott Gilliam and David Williford.
HATTIE BURNS
Hattie Burns, 91, of 540 Ada Drive, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Stanford House Nursing Home in Stanford.
Born May 13, 1911 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ada Hendren Isham and was the widow of R. C. Burns.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ.
Survivors include: one sister, Lucille Sims, Harrodsburg; four nephews and two nieces.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 10, at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Carl Blacketer officiating.
