Pauline Reno Craig
Central City - Mrs. Pauline Reno Craig, 84, of Central City, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Craig was a Muhlenberg County native and a was a former retired business lady, she owned and operated the Evitts Chevrolet dealership in Sebree for several years. While residing in Sebree, she was active in the First Baptist Church, W.M.U., Woman’s Club and taught a young ladies Sunday School class and was involved in numerous civic affairs of the community. After retirement she returned home to Muhlenberg County and continued to teach Sunday School and be active in First Baptist Church and other activities of the church and organizations. She purchased her home in Greenville and also a home at Lake Malone where she enjoyed entertaining so many friends.
Survivors include two sisters, Beulah Mooningham and Dorothy R. Paxton; two brothers, James and Carl Reno, all residing in Central City; one step-daughter, Marsha Craig Terre Blanche of Bowling Green; one step-granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Jackson Pierce Vincent
Greenville - Infant Jackson Pierce Vincent died Friday, March 1, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro.
Survivors include his parents, Robert Alan (Bob) Vincent and Janet Lynn Whittinghill Vincent of Greenville; one brother, Jordan Taylor Vincent of Greenville; grandparents, Bill and Joyce Whittinghill of Greenville and Virginia Vincent of Graham; two uncles, Joey Whittinghill of Calhoun, Georgia and Jimmy Vincent of Graham; and one aunt, Pam Eisert of Bowling Green.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville with Reverend Richard Summers officiating.

James "Freddie" Steele
Central City - Mr. James “Freddie” Steele, 85, of Central City died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Mr. Steele was born in Muhlenberg County on August 31, 1916. He was employed with the Engineering Department through the Kentucky State Highway.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Steele; one sister, Leona Hill of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bob Lowery officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Brenda Sue Grace
Greenville - Mrs. Brenda Sue Grace, 61, of Greenville died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Grace was born in Muhlenberg County on September 15, 1940. She was a member of Carter Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Gene A. Grace.
Survivors include one son, John M. Grace of Greenvilledaughter-in-law, Carmen Grace both of Greenville; one daughter, Gena Skaggs and son-in-law, Billy Skaggs both of Greenville; four grandchildren, Heath and Brysen Skaggs and Kelli and Josh Grace; one brother, Charles Donald Norvell of Etowa, N.C.; one sister, Joyce Vaughn of Montgomery, AL; her mother, Irene Dukes of Greenville; and her father, Brennen Norvell of Etowa, N.C.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Donnie Wilkins officiating and Carl Nelson, Bob Lowery and Bob Kubasch assisting. Burial followed at Carter Creek Church Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Thomas Heart Institute.

Anna Maedell Cox
Beechmont - Ms. Anna Maedell Cox, 80, of Beechmont died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Ms. Cox was born in Muhlenberg County on June 30, 1921. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Albert Augustino of Greenville; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Lillian Ball of Walls, Mississippi, Joyce Hendricks of Greenville and Faye Whitney Ford of Beechmont.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont with Bob Davis officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Carl Clifford Dill
Central City - Mr. Carl Clifford Dill, 87, of Central City died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Dill was born in Todd County on December 6, 1914. He was a employed by T.V.A. as a carpenter. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He wasalso a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis McDowell Dill of Central City; three step-sons, George Rash of Xuma, Arizona, A.V. Rash of Worthington, KY and John Rash of Franklin, KY; nine step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one niece, June Messingille of Russellville; and one great nephew, Michael Parker of Russellville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Shocklee officiating and Reverend Scott Casebier assisting. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Florella Rife Arnold Bass
Russellville - Mrs. Florella Rife Arnold Bass, 72, of Russellville died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 of natural causes at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville.
Mrs. Bass was born in Belton, Kentucky on September 20, 1929 to the late James Rife, Sr. and Myrna Shultz Rife. She was a homemaker and a member of Arnolds Chapel A.M.E. (Bibbtown Community) and was an usher.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall Bass of Russellville; one son, Jesse James Arnold, Jr. of Russellville; five daughters, Edith Washington of Russellville, Theresa Gumm of Franklin, Debra Shelton of Hopkinsville, Jamie Parrish of Louisville and Celida Anderson of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers, Forest J. Rife of Beaver Dam and Claude E. Rife of Drakesboro; three sisters, Pearline Mason of Drakesboro, Helen Chambers of Browder and Carolyn Reed of Drakesboro; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Bethel Baptist Church in Drakesboro with Reverend Charles Johnson officiating. Burial followed in West End Cemetery in Greenville.
Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville was in charge of all arrangements.

Donald "Don" Strader
Evansville - Mr. Donald “Don” Strader, 60, of Evansville died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
Mr. Strader was a member of Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bremen. He retired from Ironworkers Local 103 after 26 years and had owned Don’s Workshop in Henderson. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, having served from 1966-1968.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Strader of Evansville; one sister, Faye Harlan of Bremen; one brother, Kenneth Strader of Benton; his fiancee, Tammy Manly of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2002 at Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bremen with Reverend Gary Whitworth officiating. Burial followed in Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

George Henry Caswell
Bremen - Mr. George Henry Caswell, 66, of Bremen died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Caswell was born in Muhlenberg County on January 5, 1936 to the late Raymond and Birdie Caswell. He was a self-employed logger and was of the Holiness faith. He was also a veteran of the Army. He was preceded in death by not only his parents, but also his grandson, Joshua Caswell and one brother, Harold Dean Caswell.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Casey Caswell of Bremen; two sons, George Eugene Caswell and David Earl Caswell both of Bremen; two daughters, Birdie Vincent of Central City and Vickie Lynn Gross of Clarksville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Elizabeth Level, Virginia Stewart and Betty Bethel all of Bremen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Everly officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Jimmy Ray Pentecost
Greenville - Mr. Jimmy Ray Pentecost, 68, of Greenville died Friday, March 8, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Pentecost was born in Muhlenberg County on October 30, 1933. He was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company and of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the United Mine Worker Association. He was preceded in death by three brothers, W.T. Pentecost, Bill Pentecost and Jewell Pentecost; and one sister, Louise Jonell Carver.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Smith Pentecost of Greenville; three sons, Danny Pentecost of Greenville, Gary Pentecost of Huntsville, Alabama and Steve Smith of Beechmont; one daughter, Angie Mercer of Greenville; one sister, Lois Dukes of Greenville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Walter Evitts officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Powderly.

Floella Phillips Edwards
Central City - Ms. Floella Phillips Edwards, 79, of Central City died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Maple Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Ms. Edwards was born in Muhlenberg County on August 14, 1922. She was a member of the Seventh Day Advent Church in Powderly.
Survivors include five sons, Tommy Edwards of Greenville, Joe Edwards of Elkton, Donald Edwards of Beechmont and Denny Edwards and Tony Edwards both of Central City; one daughter, Glenda Sue Woodson of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Phillips of Red Fox, Kentucky and Alene Phillips of Florida.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Jewell Martin officiating and Gary Sheppard assisting. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Jeremy Blake Wenzel
Central City - Mr. Jeremy Blake Wenzel, 27, of Central City died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Wenzel was born in El Dorado, Illinois on August 7, 1974. He was a welder. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Kenneth Wenzel in 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Danielle Adler Wenzel of Central City; one daughter, Blakelyn Wenzel of Central City; his mother, Marilyn Wenzel of Bremen; Bobby Higgins; one brother, Sean Raymer of California; and his grandmother, Jenny Pearl Wenzel of Shawneetown, Illinois.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Allen Black officiating. Burial followed in Hogan Cemetery in Shawneetown, Illinois.

Louise House
Bremen - Ms. Louise House, 91, of Louisville, formerly of Bremen, died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Parkway Medical Center in Louisville.
Ms. House was born in Muhlenberg County on December 29, 1910. She was a housewife.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Christine House of Fairdale; one daughter-in-law, Katie House; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Jimmie T. Smith
Morganfield - Mr. Jimmie T. Smith, 59, of Morganfield died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Smith was born in Muhlenberg County on March 19, 1942. He lived in Morganfield and was employed as a Security Guard with the Pinkerton Services.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Smith of Morganfield; one daughter, Tammy Lou Brown of Sturgis; three sons, Terry Gordon Smith, William E. Smith and John D. Smith all of Morganfield; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis J. Cosgrove of Lake Placid, Florida.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Reverend Joey Durham officiating. Burial followed in Jackson Cemetery.

Edna Juanita Eaves
Central City - Mrs. Edna Juanita Eaves, 63, of Central City died Sunday, March 10, 2002 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Eaves was born in Muhlenberg County on September 6, 1938. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen C. Putman and one brother, Allen Eaves.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Marple of Liberty, Kentucky; one step-sister, Shirley Miller of Hammond, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Carolyn Erwin officiating. Burial followed in Nebo Cemetery.

Dorothy Miller Thurman
Sacramento - Mrs. Dorothy Miller Thurman, 75, of Sacramento died Wednesday, March 6, 2002.
Mrs. Thurman was born in Millport. She was the owner/operator of Dorothy’s Custom House in Sacramento for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Thurman of Sacramento; one son, Keith Rickard of Owensboro; two daughters, Pam Jameson of Gainesville, Georgia and Lori Ramage of Madisonville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, W.C. “Sonny” Miller of Rough River, Ronnie Miller, Frankie Miller and Dennis Miller all of Bremen; two sisters, Helen Hobgood of Louisville and Jean Caldwell of Bremen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2002 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial followed in Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Millport.
Muster Funeral Home in Calhoun was in charge of all arrangements.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Building Fund; C/O Reverend John Butler, P.O. Box 257, Sacramento, Kentucky 42372. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Elmer Lile
Greenville - Mr. Elmer Lile, 89, of Greenville died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Maple Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Lile was born in Muhlenberg County on June 27, 1912 and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Adelle Lile of Greenville; two sons, Bill Lile and Gene Lile both of Louisville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Hardison of Greenville; and one brother, Ned Lile of Fearsville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery.
Family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice and St. Johns Day League.
