Imogene McGinley Proctor

BEECHMONT – Imogene McGinley Proctor, 71, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Drakesboro Feb. 13, 1934, the daughter of the late Jesse Elvis and Goldie Mae Bates, she was a homemaker and a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Neal Ray McGinley.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Eugene Proctor; two daughters, Pattie Knight and Vicki Woodruff, both of Beechmont; two granddaughters, Makenzi Knight and Victoria Knight, both of Beechmont and a sister, Orena Johnson of Drakesboro.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 30 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Harrison officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Georgia Evelyn Duncan - Berg

GREENVILLE – Georgia Evelyn Duncan - Berg, 86, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Maple Manor Nursing Facility.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 25, 1918, she was a nurse’s aide and a member of Richardson’s Chapel General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Duncan, Sr. and her son, Paul Duncan, Jr.
Survivors include a grandson, Paul Bratcher of Shalimar, Fla.; a daughter - in - law, Carol Duncan of Nebo; a cousin, Ezra Miller and three great - grandchildren, Stephanie and Megan Rose and Daniel H. Bratcher.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 1 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Drusie Nell Hayes

BREMEN – Drusie Nell Hayes, 83, died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 20, 1921, she was a homemaker and a member of Richardson Chapel General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Hayes.
Survivors include four sons, Harvey Gene Hayes of Evansville, Jimmy Hayes of Bremen, Jackie Hayes and Joe Hayes, both of Booneville, Ind.; a daughter, Fay Gentry of Bremen; three brothers, T.J. Fulkerson of Greenville, Sherman Fulkerson of Evansville and Doc Fulkerson of Chicago; four sisters, Flora Hayes of Central City, Hazel Reynolds of Madisonville, Alice Sims of Graham and Joyce Dean Gregory of Chicago; 13 grandchildren and 11 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 2 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery.

Barbara Nell Pethtel

GREENVILLE – Barbara Nell Pethtel, 69, died Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 17, 1935, she was a homemaker and a member of Richardson Chapel General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Waddell.
Survivors include her husband, Duane Pethtel; three sons, Bob Waddell of Texas, Bill Waddell of Okla. and Michael Pethtel of Ill.; a daughter, Marilyn Knox of Ind.; several grandchildren, great - grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. July 5 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ill. with the Rev. T. H. Davis officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Gideons International.

Logan Harris (L.H.) Arbuckle

GREENVILLE – Logan Harris (L.H.) Arbuckle, 68, died Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Belle Meade Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County April 6, 1937 the son of the late Coleman and Flossie Mae Mount Arbuckle, he was a self - employed businessman in Greenville and Central City for over 30 years prior to suffering strokes in 1995. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and a United States Air Force veteran having served from 1958 until 1962.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Alicia Cisney Arbuckle; a son, Daniel Logan Arbuckle of Bowling Green; a sister, Freda Vincent of Greenville; a brother, Kenneth Arbuckle of Greenville; two nephews and a great - niece.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 5 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Perdue officiating. Burial followed in the Rosewood Methodist Church Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

Mildred Ruth Wagoner Mannahan

WHITE PLAINS – Mildred Ruth Wagoner Mannahan, 62, died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Dawson Pointe Nursing Home in Dawson Springs.
Born in Christian County, the daughter of Georgia Young Wagoner of Crofton and the late Minor Brasher Wagoner, she was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Falls Gospel Church in Nortonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe David Mannahan.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Joe and Donnie Lee Mannahan, both of White Plains and David Ray Mannahan of Cadiz; a daughter, Sheila Mannahan Dawson of Crofton; two brothers, Junior Ray and Bobby G. Wagoner, both of Crofton; a sister, Betty Sue Baker of Crofton; eight grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. July 6 at Voice of Faith Church in Crofton with the Rev. Alan Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in Judge’s Chapel Cemetery in Christian County. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Crofton was in charge of arrangements.

Carl Lee Ferguson

GREENVILLE – Carl Lee Ferguson, 63, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
He was born in Muhlenberg County May 26, 1943 and was disabled.
Survivors include two brothers, David Ferguson of Greenville and Danny Ferguson of Madisonville and one sister, Barbara Hunt of Rochester.
Funeral services were private and burial was in Wyatt’s Cemetery in Drakesboro. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

Royce Tipton

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Royce Tipton, 92, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Hadlow Center Hospice in Jacksonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County July 29, 1913, he was formerly of Beech Creek. He was retired from the United States Government and was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Minerva Tipton, September 2003.
Survivors include a son, Royce Burke (Vicki) Tipton of Jacksonville and three sisters, Alice Carver of Greenville and Irene Shemwell and Evadell Hagberg, both of Leesville, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 30 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial followed in Jackson Cemetery.

Mildred Lorene Oglesby

DRAKESBORO – Mildred Lorene Oglesby, 89, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Logan County, Aug. 23, 1916, she was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Oglesby of Luzerne; two daughters, Barbara McPherson and Rebecca Hardison, both of Greenville; three sisters, Iva Jean Mihelcic and Mazola Jackson, both of Beech Creek and Evelyn Yarbor of Ind.; six grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 30 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlston Farber officiating. Burial followed at Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro.

William “Bill” Pryor

OWENSBORO – William “Bill” Pryor, 88, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Wellington Parc in Owensboro.
Born in Grayson County, April 2, 1918, he was a member of Southside Church of Christ and was retired from Tennessee Valley as a carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Raymer Pryor; his father, Anderson Blaine Pryor; five sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Neata Hunt Pryor; two brothers, Dawes Pryor and Jake Pryor, both of Drakesboro and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 1 at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Rosehill Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 240 Whittington Pky, Louisville, KY 40222.

Kenneth (Jack) Larkins

MADISON HEIGHTS, MICH. – Kenneth (Jack) Larkins, 78, died Monday June 12, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 28, 1928, he graduated from Graham High School and worked for General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Mich for 40 years until his retirement in 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rose Larkins; a son, David Larkins of Agoura Hills Calif.; a daughter Diane Richards of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a brother, Gordon Larkins of Athens, Ga.; two sisters, Mildred Hicks of Paducah and Ruth Alaniz of Mansford, Ill.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home in Madison Heights was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michigan Humane Society.

Benny Lee Brooks

GREENVILLE – Benny Lee Brooks, 50, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Cook County, Ill. June 5, 1956, he a welder at Piper Saw Shop in Central City. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Brooks and a sister, Nancy Carol Brooks.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Brown Brooks; two daughters, Amanda Leigh Brooks Carneal and Courtney Annette Brooks, both of Greenville; his mother, Dean Brooks of Greenville; three brothers, Larry Brooks of Central City, Donnie Brooks of Greenville and Bob Brooks of Nebo and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 3 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.

Clarence Edward Mitchell

Clarence Edward Mitchell, 89, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 2, 1916, he was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Powderly and a retired school teacher. He got his Bachelor of Science from Brescia College and a Master of Arts from Western Kentucky University.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Mitchell of Central City; one daughter, Danna (Kenneth T.) Christman of Athens, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Goodin, Eric (Mimi) Christman and Chad Christman; three great - grandchildren, Katie Goodin, Samuel Goodin, and Waylon Christman.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. July 3 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Hazel Stewart

GRAHAM – Mary Hazel Stewart, 95, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at her residence following several months illness.
Born in Graham, March 17, 1911 she is the last surviving child of the late Aaron Hudson Vincent and Cordellia Ann Vincent. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of Vernal Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stewart in 1973, her parents, four brothers, Hobert Vincent, Thurman Vincent, Howell Vincent and John Vincent and a sister, Stella McRoy.
Survivors includes one son, James Truman (Diane) Stewart of New Cypress; one daughter, Shirley Dean Webster of Graham; eight grandchildren, Terrill Stewart and Timmy (Jill) Stewart, both of New Cypress, Dawn (Andy) Simms, Jeff (Norma) Webster, Jill (Jerry) Lovell and Johnny (Janie) Webster, all of Graham, Jim (Donna) Webster of Atlanta and Joey (Tisa) Webster of Greenville; 12 great - grandchildren and two great - great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 3 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Eades officiating. Burial followed in the Graham Hill Cemetery in Graham.

Harry Ferguson, Jr.

GREENVILLE – Harry Ferguson, Jr., 83, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Logan County, W. Va. June 17, 1923, he was the son of Harry Ferguson Sr. and Georgia Riffe Ferguson. He was a retired superintendent of maintenance for Island Creek Coal Company and lived in Greenville a short time. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Lambert Ferguson on Aug. 17, 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Dockery and Holly Benningfield, both of Greenville and Terry Maury of Katy, Texas; two sisters, Florence Blebin and Virginia Farley, both of W. Va.; one brother, Jimmy Ferguson of W. Va. and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. July 5 at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, W. Va. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 p.m. July 4 at Freeman Funeral Home. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Margaret Louise Wallace

OWENSBORO – Margaret Louise Wallace, 88, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Hermitage Nursing Home in Owensboro.
Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 11, 1918, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City and a retired office manager of Western Kentucky Gas Company in Central City. She received the President’s Call to Service award for volunteer service at the Daniel Pitino Shelter in Owensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wallace in 1978.
Survivors include one son, Tom Wallace of Lexington; one daughter, Julia Watson of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Amy Reynolds and Sarah Small; one great - grandchild, Jake Small; two brothers, Bob Watkins of Central City and H.G. Watkins of Madisonville.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 4 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Silas Ripato officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Central City United Methodist Church or the Golden Tide Museum.

George “Johnny” Nikitas

GREENVILLE – George “Johnny” Nikitas, 71, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Chicago, Ill. November 2, 1934, he was a self employed printer and a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother - in - law, Argiree and Buel Dukes.
Survivors include one daughter, Nina (Scott) Galla of St. Charles, Ill. and one grandson.
Graveside services were held at noon July 3 at the Vernal Grove Cemetery in Graham with the Rev. Jerry Eades officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
