Born in Caldwell County, Jan. 15, 1941, he was a retired truck driver and mechanic. A U.S. Army veteran, he was of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ruby Linville; a sister, Gladys Phelps and two brothers, Leonard Linville and Clifford Linville.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Linville; three sons, Darren “D.D.” (Lurlee) Linville of White Plains, Larry “Shane” (Kim) Linville and Derrick “Scott” Linville, both of Graham; a daughter, Wendy Gayle (John) Howard of Okawville, Ill.; a sister, Virginia Linville of South Carrollton; four brothers, Dean Linville of Madisonville, Hershall Linville of Paducah, Jimmy Linville of Hopkinsville and Henry Linville of South Carrollton and a granddaughter, Tiffany Howard of Okawville, Ill.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Walls and the Rev. Terry Chaney and the Rev. Floyd Steele officiating. Burial followed at Yeargins Chapel Cemetery in Graham.
Donna Kay McElvain
Donna Kay McElvain, 53, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Maple Manor Health Care Center in Greenville.
Born in Arkansas, Sept. 6, 1952, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Beckman; her mother, Mina Hardin and a brother, David Hardin.
Survivors include a son, Glenn H. McElvain Jr. of Central City; two brothers, Jessie Frank Beckman of Ala. and Darrel Hardin of Ill.; two sisters, Betty Ann Havslein of Greenville and Carolyn Hardin of Neb.; her step father, Ray Dean Hardin of Central City and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 17 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Paar and the Rev. Steven McElvain officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
Robert Melvin Latham
GREENVILLE – Robert Melvin Latham, 85, formerly of Detroit, Mich., died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Sparks Nursing Home in Central City.
Born in Todd Co., Aug. 5, 1920, he was a retired security guard. A WWII veteran, he was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewing and Gertie Latham.
Survivors include two brothers, Gordon Latham of Denham Springs, La. and Gwen Latham of Louisville and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. June 17 at New Harmony/Bivin Cemetery in Todd County with the Rev. Tony Evitts officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Nora J. Joines
LEWISBURG – Nora J. Joines, 83, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 26, 1922, she was a homemaker and a member of Tyewhoppety Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Joines and her father, Taylor Epley.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Jenkins of Lewisburg and Loretta Brewer of Belton; a son, Vernon Joines of Bowling Green; a brother, Elmer Epley of Calvert City, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 9 at Price Funeral Home Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Autry Moore officiating. Burial followed at McPherson Cemetery in Todd Co.
Gladys Mae Jones
KIRKMANSVILLE– Gladys Mae Jones, 88, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Jenny Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville following a lengthy illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Nov. 20, 1917, she was the daughter of Luther Crick and Flossie Mae Duvall Crick. A member of Carter Creek Baptist Church, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Jones in 1987 and three sons, Doug Jones, Bill Jones and Gary Jones.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Livingston of Hopkinsville; two sons, Jerry Jones and Leon Jones, both of Elkton; three sisters, Verna Grace, Fanny Belle Vincent and Bertha Kellems, all of Greenville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 17 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Thompson and the Rev. Darrell Crawford officiating. Burial followed at Carter Creek Cemetery in Greenville.
Stella Louise Lee
GREENVILLE – Stella Louise Lee, 75, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Mecklenburg Co., N.C., she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lee.
Survivors include a sister - in - law, Annabelle Myers and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. June 16 at Nebo Cemetery in Greenville with the Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Edwin Eugene “Ed” Finley
HOBART, IND. – Edwin Eugene “Ed” Finley, 73, formerly of Greenville, died Monday, June 12, 2006.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 6, 1933, he was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from U.S. Steel in 1997 after 46 years of service. An active member of Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 40 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Queen Ann Finley and a sister, Marjorie McGhee.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Finley; two daughters, Pam Woodward of Hobart and Cindy Finley of Valparaiso, Ind.; three brothers, Rufus Finley Jr. of Tenn., Bennett Pendley and Eldon Pendley, both of Ky.; a granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. June 15 at Rees Funeral Home in Hobart with the Rev. G.C. Martin and the Rev. Clyde Morris officiating. Burial followed at Calumet Park Cemetery.
Edward O. Snodgrass
BREMEN – Edward O. Snodgrass, 60, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Highway 175 in Bremen.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 23, 1946, he was a retired truck driver, miner and minister. Preceded in death by a son, Chris Snodgrass and a daughter, Marna Snodgrass, he was a member of Mercer Baptist Church in Powderly.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Divine Snodgrass; a daughter, Charity (Todd) Franklin of Bremen; a son, Chad (Stephanie) Snodgrass of Williams, Calif.; his mother, Nurine Snodgrass of Drakesboro; three brothers, Jimmy Snodgrass of Wis., Don Snodgrass of Drakesboro and Terrill Snodgrass of Greenville; a sister, Carolyn Doss of Luzerne and six grandchildren, Parker Franklin, Paige Franklin, Jacob Snodgrass, Luke Snodgrass, Connor Woodard and Olivia Snodgrass.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 19 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Snodgrass and the Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen.
Leslie Wiggins Jr.
SACRAMENTO – Leslie Wiggins Jr., 71, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Born in Christian County, June 8, 1935, he was a union iron worker and a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved spending time with family and friends and was a retired elder in the church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara West Wiggins; a son, Leslie Keith Wiggins of Calhoun; two daughters, Kala Joyce Wiggins of Nashville and Kathy Ann Wiggins of Sacramento; three sisters, Eva Cobb of Newburgh, Ind., Norma Todd of Madisonville and Betty Thurby of Fort Collins, Colo. and two grandchildren, Justin Keith Wiggins and Leslie Brandon Wiggins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 19 at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Curtis Pruitt and the Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial followed at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Cynthia Ann Sapp Norton
GREENVILLE – Cynthia Ann Sapp Norton, 48, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville after several months illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, June 28, 1957, she was the daughter of Eyvand and Eugene Sapp and Betty Joe Saddler Sapp. A homemaker and member of Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister.
Survivors include her husband of eight years, David Norton; a daughter, Amy Beth (Phillip) Trimble of Pulaski, Tenn.; a stepson, Dustin Brent (Cory) Norton of Louisville; her parents, Gene “Papaw” and Betty Sapp of Greenville; a brother, Timothy (Sheila) Sapp of Greenville; two sisters, Carolyn (Dale) Dennis of Louisville and Joyce (Stephen) Hodges of Holden Beach, N.C. and two grandsons, Colton Williams Trimble and Simon Thomas Norton.

Edna Ruth Watkins
LEWISBURG – Edna Ruth Watkins, 95, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Maple Manor Health Care Center in Greenville.
Born in Butler County, Oct. 2, 1910, she was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hays “Bill” Watkins; her father, J.V. Grise and her mother, Effie Neil Grise.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Bill Watkins of Central City; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 20 at Price Funeral Home Inc. in Lewisburg with the Rev. Bill Watkins officiating. Burial followed at Concord Cemetery in Butler Co.
M. Lucille Shaver
INDIANAPOLIS – M. Lucille Shaver, 97, formerly of Central City, died Friday, June 16, 2006. A retired sales clerk at Sears, she was a member of Roberts Park Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Allie Fentress Shaver and a brother, John E. Shaver.
Survivors include two nephews, John L. Shaver and William M. Shaver, both of Indianapolis and two great nephews, Nicholas D. Shaver and Patrick P. Shaver.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. June 20 at Shaver’s Chapel Cemetery in Central City. Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel in Indianapolis was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in the form of donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Rev. James Carl Sharp
LEWISBURG – Rev. James Carl Sharp, 84, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at his residence.
Born in Logan County, May 24, 1922, he was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a General Baptist Church Minister. He was a member of the Long Creek Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Novella Tooley Sharp; a daughter, Hilda Faye Sharp; his father, Robert Sharp and his mother, Emma Pogue Sharp.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita Sharp Crafton and Janice Sharp Kees, both of Lewisburg; three sons, Danny Sharp and Mike Sharp, both of Lewisburg and Ronnie Sharp of Clifty; a brother, Raymond Sharp of Oregon; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. June 18 at Pleasant Union General Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Culbertson and the Rev. Kris Freeman officiating. Burial followed at McPherson Cemetery in Todd County. Price Funeral Home Inc. in Lewisburg was in charge of arrangements.
Zula Lorene Lear
DRAKESBORO - Zula Lorene Lear, 89, of Drakesboro, died June 12, 2003, at Maple Manor Healthcare Center in Greenville.
Born Aug. 20, 1914 in Muhlenberg County, she was a homemaker and a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lear.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky Phelps of Drakesboro; four grandchildren, Teresa Spears, Lisa Knight, Dale Phelps and Jeffery Phelps; three step - grandchildren; and 11 great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 15, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Gary Hines officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetey.
George Willard McKinney
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - George Willard McKinney, 77, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Greenville, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was CSM U.S. Army retired, was in the Infantry, was Command Sgt. Major winning more than 20 medals, awards, ribbons and letters of commendation. He was a member and elder at Highland Presbyterian Church, a member, past president and treasurer of John M. Wilson Sunday School Class, member of the men’s choir, a mason and a member of the Lebanon Lodge, Ret. Command Sgt. Major, U.S. Army Retired and Civil Service.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna McKinney of Fayetteville; two daughters, Debbie Bullard of Wilmington, N.C. and Patty Sleem of Fayetteville, N.C.; four brothers, Andrew McKinney of Central City, Paul McKinney of Drakesboro, Bill McKinney of Lewisburg and John McKinney of Scottsville; three sisters, Mary Penrod of Gallion, Ohio, Imogene Gardner of Greenville and Eunice Kissinger of Elberfeld, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14, at Highland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Ernie Johnson and the Revs. Leighton McKeithen and Tom Spence officiating. Elmo W. Buskill
Elmo W. Buskill, 84, of Central City, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind.
He was a retired automobile painter and a proud veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Sumner Buskill.
He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Schmidt of Greenville; one son, Roger (Kathy) Buskill of Clarksville, Ind.; one brother, Garland Buskill of Rockport, Ind.; four grandchildren; five great - grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery.
Harold William Webster
GREENVILLE - Harold William Webster, 65, of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Born January 1, 1938 in Butler County, he was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church and a former coal miner employed by Peabody Coal Company.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Browning Webster; two daughters, Felicia Garrett and Shawna Cobb, both of Greenville; five grandchildren; one great - grandchild; three brothers, Barry Webster and Randall Webster, both of Greenville and R. W. Webster of South Carrollton; and five sisters, Eva Mathis and Madine Ray, both of Greenville, Mamie Armstrong of Palmyra, Ind., Joan Webster of Morgantown and Shirley Arnett of Central City.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 12, at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery.
