A Muhlenberg County native, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Cain of Central City; five sons, Donnie Cain of Columbus, Ga., James Michael Cain of Greenville, Duncan Cain of Owensboro, Jeffrey and Justin Cain, both of Central City; five daughters, Jacqueline Cain of Cleaton, Madaline Phillips of Lexington, Jo Ann, Paulette and Kristi Cain, all of Central City; seven grandchildren; and one step - granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cleaton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, also at Mt. Pleasant Church. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery in Greenville. Bibbs’ Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Arthur Douglas Vick Sr.
GREENVILLE - Arthur Douglas Vick Sr., 62, of Greenville, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
He was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Muhlenberg County.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Wells Vick; three sons, Arthur D. Vick Jr. of Central City, Russel George Vick of Fredonia and Wayne Scott Vick of Greenville; two daughters, Roberta Elaine Jenkins of Browder and Rachel Marie Vick of Greenville; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Vick of Graham and Jerry W. Vick of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; and six sisters Shirley Ann Shadowen of Browder, Wanda Moore and Barbara Mayes, both of Cleaton, Mary Jane Amos of Central City, Marjie Winsberg of Simi Valley, Calif. and Nona Kay Gregory of Greenville.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, also at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marty Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Cleaton.
Marjorie Oleta Wice Hancock
GREENVILLE - Marjorie Oleta Wice Hancock, 71, of Greenville, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Oct. 15, 1931 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Leonard Brian Wice and Phoebe Iris Convington Wice, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville. She was a prominent business woman, the owner and operator of the Greenville Dairy Queen for 52 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Bill Hancock in 1977; one brother, Porkey Wice in 1979; and one son, Brian Hancock in 1998.
She is survived by two children, Billy Ray Hancock of Elgin, Ill. and Kathy Farlaino of Greenville; five grandchildren, Joshua Hancock, Whitney Harrison, Joseph Hancock, Paige Farlaino and Alana Hancock; one sister, Sue Osborne of Madisonville; and one brother, Paul Wice of Greenville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Dr. Charles Midkiff officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
James Edward Arnold
GREENVILLE James Edward Arnold, 85, of Greenville, died Saturday, June 14, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville following a few weeks illness.
Born Nov. 16, 1917 in Muhlenberg County, he was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Navy as Boson Mate Chief.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Arnold of Greenville; one daughter, Catherine Black of LaMesa, Calif.; one son, James Edward Arnold, Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; one great - grandchild; and one sister, Lorell Steele of St. Petersburg, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 19, at Lone Star General Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Shanks officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Billy Ray Taylor
LIVERMORE Billy Ray Taylor, 66, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
Born in McLean County, Aug. 28, 1937, he was disabled.
Survivors include three brothers, Noah Taylor of Livermore, Roy Taylor of Greenville and Phillip Taylor of Evansville; three sisters, Wanda Davis of Livermore, Ethel Taylor of Henderson and Margaret Ewing of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., June 11 at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento with the Rev. Kenneth Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Island Methodist Cemetery in Island.
Carol William Dukes
GREENVILLE Carol William Dukes, 76, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 13, 1928, he was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company, a U.S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Adelle Dukes; three sons, Harold Dukes and Chris Dukes, both of Greenville, and Royce Dukes of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Wanda Atterberry of Gold Hill, Ore.; eight grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., June 10 at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Royce Dukes officiating. Burial followed in Cave Springs Cemetery in Greenville.
Norene Lovell Scott
Norene Lovell Scott, 78, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at her residence in Central City.
Born in McLean County, April 9, 1926, she was a homemaker and a member of Island Methodist Church in Island. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Scott, in 1993.
Survivors include three sons, James Richey (Carole) Scott of Nampa, Idaho, Mack Allen (Debbie) Scott of Sacramento and John Ellis (Suzanne) Scott of Hanson; four daughters, Alana Sue Sanders of Bremen, Jacqueline Ann (Mac) Mata of Killeen, Texas, Virginia Lovell Scott (Jeff) Geary of Central City and Melissa Scott (Jimmy) Epley of South Carrollton; 14 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and one great great - grandchild.

BREMEN Connie Beatrice Guinn, 57, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 25, 1947, she was a homemaker and a member of Reservoir Hill Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Della Campbell of Central City and Sara Guinn of Bremen; four brothers, Tommy Level of Florida, Sherman Level of Bremen, Larry Level of Mitchell, Ind. and Gene Level of Greenville; and three grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m., June 11 at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. J.W. Haire officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Tucker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Bridget Michelle Glenn
DRAKESBORO Bridget Michelle Glenn, 21, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 on Powderly - Cleaton Cutoff Road in Central City as a result of a car accident.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Oct. 24, 1982, she was a member of Bevier Presbyterian Church in Cleaton and employed at Kroger in Powderly and Twin Rivers, Inc. in Livermore. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, R.T. and Eddith Glenn and Muriel Majors and Dale Majors, Jr.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Sharon Glenn of Drakesboro; two sisters, Kellie Glenn and Rebecca Glenn, both of Drakesboro; nine aunts and uncles, Elizabeth and Larry Bullock and Roberta and Eddie Dortch, all of Drakesboro, Debbie and Larry Porter of Central City, Sandy and J.D. McCluskey of Greenville and Roger Majors of Columbus, Ind.; and six cousins, Barbara, Christina, David, Chris, Tiffany and John.

Thomas Glen Arnett
GRAHAM Thomas Glen Arnett, 81, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville following a short illness.
Born in Vincennes, Ind., March 18, 1923, the son of the late James Ellis Arnett and Mary Tyson Arnett, he was a member and retired deacon of Corley Chapel General Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Green River Steel in Owensboro in 1983 after 30 years of service, and was a mason for 40 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adell Stovall, and five brothers, Billy, Courtland, Clarence, Junie and Ernest Ray Arnett.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ressie Rose Arnett; two sons, Larry Arnett of Graham and Charles Dan (Rose) Arnett of Winter Harbor, Maine; two brothers, John (Connie) Arnett of Graham and Bobby (Doris) Arnett of Depoy; a sister, Evelyn Tarrants of Graham; two grandson, Christopher Thomas Arnett and Charlie Arnett, both of Winter Harbor; and a great - granddaughter, Emelia Arnett of Winter Harbor.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., June 12 at Gary’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Noe and the Rev. Walter Evitts officiating. Burial followed in Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham.

GREENVILLE Martin Buel Lee, 72, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital following several weeks of illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, July 11, 1931, he was a retired painter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Hardison.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee; a daughter, Sheila Gish of Bremen; three sons, Terry Lee, Dewayne Lee and Johnathon Lee, all of Greenville; three step children, Donald Adler, Ronnie Adler and Doris Adler, all of Greenville; two sisters, Doris Dukes and Sybal Broderick, both of Greenville; two brothers, Paschal Lee of Greenville and Drexel Lee of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and seven step great - grandchildren.

GREENVILLE Patricia Pike, 74, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City and Chicago Teamsters Union.
Survivors include two sisters, Carol Theodosis and Diane Gunn, both of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m., June 15 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
George Allen Gray, Sr.
George Allen Gray, Sr., 64, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at his residence in Central City.
Born in Muhlenberg County, April 28, 1940, he was a self - employed furniture re - finisher and the pastor and founder of Bremen Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Harris Gray; a son, George Allen (LaDonna) Gray, Jr. of Central City; a daughter, Lana (Casey) Coe of Central City; three brothers, Harold (Wanda) Gray, Jimmy Walton (Mary) Gray and Bokey Gray, all of Bremen; two sisters, Clatie (Earl) Bean of Central City and Shirley (Smitty) Smith of Rockford, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Brad Coe, Bryce Coe, Whitney Gray, Jill Gray and Daryn Gray.

FAIRFIELD, CALIF. Mary Elizabeth (Oates) Walker, 82, died Friday June 4, 2004 in Santa Clara, Calif. after a long illness.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 27, 1922, she was a longtime member of the Green Valley Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Walker, her only daughter, Delore Ann Weger and sister, Vergie Allen.
Survivors include a sister, Awilda LaMar of Concord, Calif.; a brother, Lawrence Oates of Diamond Springs, Calif.; two grandsons; and two great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. June 14 at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, Calif. Fairfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, William Watkins; two sons, Robert Williams of Nashville and Bruce Williams of Ashland City; a daughter, Susan Childs of Beechmont; a brother, Donald Whitaker of Hendersonville; a sister, Nancy Hardin Gasparovic of Issue, Md.; and six grandchildren.
